This is a long overdue review, but Lenise's Café is easily one of the best cafés in Sacramento. From the hospitality to the service to how quickly everything comes out, they truly do it all right. I came here for brunch with friends and had an amazing experience. The owner Jeff is incredibly kind and goes above and beyond to make sure everything is perfect with great service, great food, and generous portions. I couldn't even finish my meal and had to take it home, and it still tasted just as good the next day. I've also been here for a friend's birthday during their karaoke wine night and it was such a fun and memorable experience. This place is truly a hidden gem in Sacramento and deserves way more recognition. I highly recommend the tri tip sandwich with their au jus. It is so good. The fries are amazing and their menu has great options from breakfast and brunch to dinner. The steak and potatoes is another standout for dinner and their desserts are also worth trying. Lani is such an amazing person and the overall atmosphere from the staff to the customers just makes you feel welcome. I genuinely love this place and have to stop myself from driving all the way into Sacramento just to eat here all the time. read more

I've heard a lot of locals rave about Lenise's Cafe, so we finally decided to try it. Just a heads up ,this isn't a full sit-down service experience. You order at the counter, grab your own napkins, and condiments are set up in a corner for you to get yourself. Not necessarily a bad thing, but something to know before going in. The biggest surprise for us was the portion sizes. I ordered two pancakes with bacon, eggs, and a side of fruit. The fruit "side" consisted of one grape, one small slice of pineapple, one blueberry, and one slice of strawberry ,it honestly felt more like a garnish than an actual side. The eggs were very small, and the meal didn't come with toast. Even the orange juice was on the smaller side. For two breakfast plates, we paid $47, which felt pretty expensive considering the portions. I'm an average-sized adult and left still feeling hungry... The vibe inside felt a little all over the place, but I did appreciate that they sell and support local products like breads. Overall, I'm glad we tried it since it's talked about so highly, but based on our experience, we probably won't return. read more

Good place to sit down and dine or for a quick bite. Service is quick. There's limited indoor seating but plentiful outdoor seating. It's a cute cafe located in the same plaza as my taekwondo's class so I come here quite often. My son loves getting the grilled cheese sandwich on sourdough here. I request no butter on the bread to be a bit healthier and he loves it. My go to is the veggie pesto crepe. It's fulfilling and big enough to share with my kids. The potatoes are my absolute favorite in this dish. It's crispy and covered in cheese. The only turn off is that they resell and repackage Costco products including bars and baked goods. Was dropping my dog off at the VCA and stumbled into this quirky coffee filled with patrons on a Saturday morning. It's clear this is a local gem as everyone seems to know each other. Met a friend here for lunch on a Tuesday afternoon. As soon as I walked in a was greeted and directed to where the menus were located. After looking through the menu and making a decision, I went back up to the counter where you place your order with the cashier. I placed my order, received my number sign and sat down at a table. There is quite a bit of seating inside and outside as well. It was chilly so we sat inside. It was cozy and they've decorated for the holidays. I ordered the French dip panini special (has a few more things on the panini like chipotle aioli and grilled onions. It came with the au jus to dip the panini in. It was delicious and I pulls order it again. The flavor was fantastic and the aioli elevated it. I also had an iced mocha which was on the sweet side for me but still good. The more I go to Lenise's, the more I enjoy the quiet atmosphere and friendly service! It's a bit tucked away from the main road and seems to be a local favorite in West Sacramento. I usually visit on weekends with friends and I like that they have a strong variety of meals for all types of dietary needs! I'm a big fan of their wraps and omelettes personally! The portions are generous and the pricing is reasonable. Would recommend if you're in the area or by the dog park and looking for a bite to eat! Cute little cafe nestled inside a shopping center in West Sac. I met a friend for a meeting and ordered the dirty banana chai (blended)...absolutely delicious! I believe the young man who helped us was named Owen; very nice young man. I did not have a meal but my friend's meal (see pic) looked scrumptious and enough to feed three or four! Their are so many options here to choose from. The workers here really makes sure to have options for anyone (even vegan options) and really cares about their customers and making sure they have a good experience eating here. As far as the food, I've never had any complaints, everything's made to order, fresh ingredients and parking... their is lots of available parking (unlike going to midtown and having to pay for it). If you're looking for a clean cafe, with good parking, kind workers who make food/drinks fast, and wanting to support your local small business, Lenises is the way to go. I checked this cafe out due to a work-friend recommendation. I am impressed by the cafe's decor, which reminds me of a time when I was on vacation in Paris last year. However, food for thought: This is not the type of "cafe" where you will need to feel full. This is a cafe, not a restaurant, so know the difference and get educated rather than being a keyboard warrior. LOL! If you want to feel full, go to a sit-down restaurant or a buffet, or dine at home. I hardly ever get full when I go to Starbucks or Dutch Bros. LMAO! Pros: -Friendly Staff. The location is good for the area. It's deep in the heart of south West Sac (Southport). It's a bit far from the freeway but close to many surrounding neighborhoods. There are a couple of shops in the shopping center. The service is amazing! The owner is extremely friendly and made a small conversation with us. All the people eating there seemed like "regulars". This really is a divey hole in the wall breakfast spot. They had many options for food and drinks. Although it was slightly busy when I went, our meal came out quickly. The flavor was really good. My eggs and toast were cooked to perfection and seasoned with just the right amount. I know you can't get toast wrong but I thought their bread and butter was fantastic. The prices are also good. You can expect to walk out of here for around $20 for a meal for two making this a ($) for me. Bottom line/TLDR: amazing customer service! read more

A local favorite that I've been meaning to try for some time now. The coffee was really really good and well prepped. The burrito and bagel were on the dry side and just ok. Nothing to rave about really. Not bad, but not good. The crowd at the time which is no fault to the restaurant didn't make me feel welcomed. Sometimes that happens in this used to be small town. The locals get a little snobby but the newer generation is very welcoming My main issue with the burrito is that everything seemed like a separate bite. One bite of a big raw tomato, then one bite of a lightly cooked spinach, then one bite of potato. It didn't appear to be intermingled. I have been here more than a handful of times...mainly breakfast and brunch times. Such a cute spot and they host a variety of fun events too like live music, karaoke, etc. Still haven't made it to one, but hope to someday. This particular day I stopped in after getting a mani next door at Tina's Hair and Nail salon (yes I gave them another shot). I was starving so ordered a bacon breakfast burrito and subbed in Cheddar cheese and also added potatoes per the suggestion of the cashier. It did not disappoint! Their breakfast burrito is also extra healthy with the addition of spinach, bell pepper, and fresh tomato. It was a nice, fresh surprise. I should note that this is an order at the counter then grab a number and seat yourself inside or outside then they bring the food to you. There is a line at times and they get kind of busy, but not too much to scare me away. I ordered a large honey Latte. I asked for nonfat milk but they only had 2%...that's ok- just a splurge day for me. Love this spot and service is pretty great. Look forward to checking out an event/happy hour sometime. read more

This place is a nice neighborhood cafe. The servers are warm and welcoming. I ordered a strawberry, caramel, whipped cream crepe, topped with chocolate. It was pretty good. Although, if I had one comment, I would say that the crepe was cold when I ate it within 2 minutes of receiving it. As well, the whipped cream was a not as whipped as I would have liked. I came here to work remotely with my wife as this is one of the few places that West Sac offers in regard to local cafes. We arrived a couple minutes after they opened so the space was really calm; perfect place to get some work done in the morning. We tried to look for a menu and we noticed that they were all placed where orders are taken. We had to wait for the first guest to order just to look at the menu, we ended up ordering their cafe omelet and a large spiced chai latte. The service was decent, but the omelet and latte were pretty good, however, it was served in a scratched up plastic plate which turned me off a little bit. The cafe was very contradictory of what it wants to identify itself. Right away, you can tell that there's love for Parisian chic elegance, yet there's a bunch of non elegant choices made such as the use of plastic plates, there's also space decoration covering the ceiling lights and resin table tops among other things. It also needed a bit of cleaning as there were dust build up covering the kitchen ceiling as well as the curtain covering transom of the patio door. It felt like the home of an eclectic individual who has many interests and couldn't pick which theme to choose from. The cafe is really cozy with plenty of seats for both indoor and outdoor which makes a good place to work remotely in. Absolutely incredible food, drinks, service, and prices!! I ordered the Caesar salad wrap and a mango mimosa and both items were incredible. I noted that they provided full glasses instead of flutes for the mimosa, and they had lots of different flavors. I went with a few girlfriends and they all thought the food was incredible and very fresh. We also had the pumpkin muffin and lemon loaf and they were both some of the moistest pastries I've had. It's hospital/ school cafeteria level food. Look at the size of my panini. $10 for that?? The sliced turkey was store bought packaged average meh. I added onions to my panini but they were diced so they were falling out all over the place. My wife's wrap was super underfilled and in the end her plate was full of tortilla scraps. The bruschetta was not bruschetta. A lil' pesto- okay. They melted some cheese (mozzarella when it should be parmesan) on untoasted slices of a baguette. Very little (if any) basil or olive oil or garlic even happening?? And topping it with diced onions?? Very odd. Soggy bread too. Our table had a bum leg, I nearly knocked it over a few times probably because I'm so strong from lifting. The space is small and they were setting up for an event so they were constantly moving tables and chairs, lots of noise and commotion. The only positive: the radio played Norah Jones. Felt very at home here. Very mellow ambiance and just lovely inside and out. Typically get the veggie grilled sandwich and chipotle chicken wrap here coupled with the banana chai and peaches and cream frappes. Lenise, Deanna, and Jeff are all super awesome at what they do. They made me feel very welcome here, and they are very detailed and considerate of our food modifications and dietary restrictions. I ordered a BLT sandwich. It came with Turkey and Avocado. The Turkey and Avocado was so small you could not see it!!! It was $11.99 and it didn't come with anything else. No fries, no side salad and not even a pickle. It had a lot of mayonnaise on it. That was the only thing they were generous with. I left there still hungry. So, this place is averaging 4 stars, huh? That's cool. Different strokes from different folks, as they say. About 20 years ago, when I was a wee lad going to UC Davis, I got a part time job at a sandwich cafe/coffeehouse/winehouse, that didn't really have an identity. This place reminded me of it. Random wine bottles scattered throughout, a random section for the "cafe," and a grill in the back. I ordered a cheese omelette, where they wouldn't let me sub a bagel for bread. This is important, because the omelette comes with either fruit or bread. I decided on fruit, and ordered a bagel and cream cheese on the side. The fruit consisted of a sliver of strawberry, two grapes that tasted frozen, and about three blueberries. Kind of pathetic, considering it is $4+ for a bagel on the side. The omelette tasted about how it looks like. I had to add butter, cream cheese, AND ketchup to give my breakfast meal a taste. My wife enjoyed the Pesto panini sandwich, but the size was almost as if it were a catered event, not someone's lunch. It also was "a la carte," in the sense of the price did not include anything else, i.e. fruit, chips, fries, etc. She also ordered a white mocha type drink, which she said was good....so yay for their coffee station. $40+ for miniscule, flavorless food, does not make me want to return any time soon. My first time here.. decided to order a French dip panini with au jus and wow was it gross.. the au jus smelled like a cheap broth cube mixed with water which I know is how some places make au jus but the real kicker was the sandwich.. it was smothered in some kind of white sauce and the meat.. eww I don't know where they get this type of meat but it tasted fake and chewy.. giving this place 2 stars because the young man working there was very nice and the store was clean... but will definitely not be back because that food was inedible. read more
