My husband and I are frequent patrons of the Western Village. More often than not we stop in to play the slots, have drinks and hang out with friends but we do visit the restaurants every so often. Most times we tend to favor Pancho's. Last night we stopped in after a very long day, sat at the Steakhouse bar to have a few drinks and unwind and got a menu from Cafe Bellini. Our plan was to order out so we could take the food home and go relax with dinner and television. I've never done take out at Cafe Bellini. We always sit down and get decent service with decent food. Had I cared enough to rate Cafe Bellini on Yelp before this experience I would have given it 3 stars for service, 3 stars for food quality and 4 stars for price. I know Cafe Bellini does take out orders. I've seen them do it before. What I don't know is why they seem to hate it so much. I never would have expected being treated the way I was last night. After about 30 minutes or so of hanging out at the Steakhouse bar and visiting with friends, my husband went and grabbed a menu for us to look over. We made our selections rather quickly and I headed over to ask the hostess how I would go about making a to-go order. She waived me off and told me to go sit and the counter and "the waiter" will help me. I told her OK and awkwardly walked inside and sat myself at the counter to wait for someone to help me. I sat at the counter for quiet sometime waiting for "the waiter" to help me. Wait staff was running around like crazy. I could tell they were busy so I decided to be patient and wait. Finally "the waiter" came up - his name was either "Gus" or "Guy". He whipped out his pad and asked what he could get for me. I told him I'd actually like to place an order to-go. He sighed and said that was fine but all he can do is bring the food on the plates and I have to put it in the box and bag it myself. I was a tad taken aback by that comment but acquiesced none the less since they were so busy. He took our order and told me 10-15 minutes but most likely 15. I went back to the Steakhouse bar to finish up my gambling and wait for the food to be ready. At the 17 minute mark I went back over to Cafe Bellini to pick up and pay for our food. There wasn't anywhere to sit at the counter so I awkwardly stood by the waitress station where employees are rushing in and out with food. I tried my best to stay out of the way but I didn't have anywhere else to go. No one asked how they could help or if I needed anything. I saw another patron receiving a to-go order and as soon as she left I took her seat so I would be out of the way. This is when it got REALLY bad - I sat on that stool forever. By forever I mean that I had wait staff walk by me 38 time (YES - 38) before one of them came up to me and open their paper pad to ask what he could get me. I told him I was actually waiting for a to-go that should be ready. He got annoyed, shut his paper pad and shouted across the counter at the original waiter who took my order. The original waiter "Guy? Gus?" saw me and grabbed our food. He brought it over in to-go containers and bagged which makes no sense because he told me I was supposed to do that myself. He handed me the receipt and walked off. Had I not been here before I might have sat longer wondering when he was going to collect my check and payment but since I knew I had to go up-front to pay that's what I did. The kid at the cash register didn't say "Hi". He didn't smile and he didn't look at me. He was like an angry robot who just took my card and receipt. For the first time in my life I couldn't bring myself to leave a tip. Instead I walked back to the Steakhouse bar and pondered what had just happened. I'll never order to-go here again and quite honestly it'll be a cold day when I go back to eat after the way I was treated. I don't know why I received such poor service. I also don't know why they have to-go if the staff hates it so much. Perhaps to-go orders have increased since the snack bar lost much of its best selections. Whatever the "excuse", it's not a reason to treat people that way. read more

They might have changed the décor but the clientele remains the same. In a restaurant if found on the menu it should be good. I knew as soon as I ordered the generals chicken I probably made a mistake. I suppose it would have been considered good if it had been found in a TV dinner tray. But as a dish being sold in a restaurant it sucked major suckage. The place looks good; the person seating folk was upbeat. The waitress even though did ok had no spark what so ever. We had a hankern' for Pancho and Willie's after a movie at the Galaxy in Sparks, but to our dismany found it wasn't open until 4pm, so we headed over to Cafe Bellini instead. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't Pancho and Wilie's! It has a large menu, and serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. My husband had the Terminator, a l pound burger with three cheeses and all the usual toppings, including tomato, lettuce, and thousand island dressing. He said it was too well done for his liking, and the bun was hard to manage, because it started to disintigrate, but it was OK. Our friend had the teriyaki burger, open-faced and topped with bacon, with sweet potato fries. It looked amazing, and was so big, he couldn't finish the fries. He said it was delicious, and he'd order it again. I had the Village burger, and 1/2 pound burger that's basically a patty melt without the onions on a parmesan garlic bread, or so it said on the menu. Here's where the meal went sounth for me. When I got my burger, it had all the stuff a regular burger has, including sauteed onions, which I hate. The whole reason I ordered this burger was because I love patty melts but hate the onions, and always order them without. Imagine my dismay when this thing came out not only with onions, but with lettuce, tomato, onions, and even thousand island dressing!!!!! Needless to say, I sent it back. I had to wait at least 15 minutes for a new burger. The server was very apologetic, and I heard her saying to the cook, "just meat and cheese!!!" I guess they don't read their menus very well. When it came back, it was OK, but there was hardly any cheese on it, not enough any way. It was piping hot, any way, and came with a butt load of fries. I really wouldn't come back again any time soon, and was really disappointed that Pancho & Willie's isn't open for lunch any more. Would have enjoyed that a lot better. read more

The Service We do not have to wait long for the table because our friend has the platinum card member. If you do not have the card member, you have to wait for about 40-45 minutes which will be a mood killer. The service was OK. The server was a little bit clumsy. She dropped fork or knife on my friend's phone. Also, I am not sure if she forgot or what, but when I asked about my appetizer, she said it was coming. Then she run to the kitchen. When I am in the middle of my main course, I feel not having appetizer anymore (hello, appetizer should be in the beginning to give you more appetite. But when you have your main course midway, what's the function of appetizer? NADA). I called the server and said i would like to cancel my appetizer, and she said it was too late. So we ended up not really eating our huge appetizer. It was a bad call and bad arrangement from the server ! The food It was OK. We ordered different food from fish and chips, pot roast, grilled liver, french toast, general's chicken to oatmeal. Nothing was really stand out. It was all just OK. It was not terrible though. We still enjoy our meal. Just not the top of the best restaurant for brunch. The atmosphere It was inside casino, so do not expect a shiny fresh sunshine when you ate your breakfast or brunch. It is set up like a full restaurant. If you do not look at your time, you could feel like you eat dinner. We went for a family meal, and our roast beef dinner came out of the refrigerator cold; the vegetables were not cooked and cold. When we finally were able to get a waiter to come over to our table, they offered to "reheat" our food. We had asked for the manager and were ignored, so we left hungry. read more

Went for dinner. Seated right away. We ordered 3 mudslides . Only 1 came at that time. Then 10 min. Later we got 3 mudslides to the table . Wait staff didn't communicate with each other . Finally got our order in and that took 25 min. We got our main course first the 5 min later the soup n salad. One of our meals was cold on the in side.sent it back. Didn't want another one and then on our way out to pay they said we didn't pay the bill by our credit card and we did we have proof and we must have sat there at the checkout a half hour until they found out that they were wrong not real good time in the food that we did get and it's less than average. read more

I loved that they used to do take out orders of the phone. They got rid of it. I don't know why but it made it convenient​ to just stop by, your neighborhood casino to pick up a quick bite to eat. The service was poor from the start. The hostess was rude on the phone. The server then told me that they don't do a chef salad anymore. Upon handing me the menu, he had know idea where the salads were. Nor when I asked if he had something comparable he didn't know. My family had been coming to Western Village for the last 25 years +. This is the first time I have ever been treated like a tourist. Especially in my hometown of Sparks, NV. read more

I think this place is a -okay, The prices are very reasonable and actualy a great bargain if you ask me :) I came here to try their 1 pound terminator burger that someone on Yelp was ranting and raving about. I do not think it is the best burger in Reno. The burger is definitely one pound and the price you can not complain $7.79 and it comes with coleslaw, potato salad or fries. But unfortunately the burger is just okay. It was a little dry when I had it. So I give it a 2 stars and most likely I won't come back and eat there anytime soon because there are 3 burger joints I rather go to in the Reno area. Anyways the lettuce and sauce was great, but the most important part which is the meat was not good :( read more

A friend took us here on her comp points. The service was wonderful- we were seated quickly and our waitress was friendly and checked back in with us regularly. Our water glasses were always full and they had the condiments we asked for (because hash-browns are always better with Cholula.) The food was fine. Nothing outstanding. The corn beef hash I had was good though it also came with hash browns and they were not cooked quite well and were disappointing. My husband ordered the biscuits and gravy which I tried- they were good. Our friend got the ham steak and liked it. She comes here often and enjoys the food. The prices were reasonable and they have several specials. Not really amazing food but descent prices and good service. read more

Went in for breakfast this morning 2/25 about 9am. It took the server 15 minutes to come to the table after we were seated which was crazy because there were clearly more servers than customers. So Alex took our order and brought us our food and we never saw him again. I had to get up to get A-1, hot sauce and more water. If it wasn't for the water pitchers placed throughout the restaurant I wouldn't have had water. We wanted dessert but no one came back to our table. I had to get up and ask the Host to get Alex to get our check. Alex still didn't bring us our check the cashier did. Alex was in the back flirting with another employee. I know this is a low budget hotel casino but there is never a good excuse for bad service....NOT TIP FOR ALEX!!! read more

If you make it in before 7 am they have a bunch of fairly big plate breakfast specials for 3.99. One minute after and everything jumps to 6 to 8 bucks, though. Surprisingly "upscale bar/lounge" look for what is basically a Denny's-tier diner, comfy place to sit though, service is great. Food - eggs were bland, diced ham was those rubbery little flavorless bits they put on cheap salad. The French Toast and the coffee, on the other hand, were legitimately pretty great. read more

This place has large portions, small prices and yummy American food. I came in for a late dinner at almost 1am and despite the service being a little slow everything else was perfect. I got the ground round steak dinner & it came with a choice of soup or salad, dinner bread and choice of potato with vegetables.... my husband got the same thing and our total was only about $15. Totally a good price! We both opted for the clam chowder and it was amazing!!! As an added bonus, it was completely devoid of sand and grit. The bread they brought out at the same time was so so so very super soft and it came served with whipped butter on the side. For my choice of potato I got mashed potatoes, sub white gravy & that was probably the highlight of my meal.... I love gravy! I love sauce! It was so yummy! For the veggies I was expecting mixed steamed vegetables but was surprised when I was brought out corn on the cob. This corn was perfectly cooked, and FRESH and I throughly enjoyed it even though I'm not the biggest corn fan in the world. After my husband powered through his meal he said "I would totally have paid more for that." and I wholeheartedly agree. I will definitely be coming back. Ps: I watched what a lot of the other diners food looked like and the nachos are huge and look really good. And the burgers are quite big too. read more

I had been a regular decades ago when living in the Reno area, so thought I return again to see what's changed, if anything? The restaurant's the only 24 hr. dining option within the Western Village casino. And actually, it's 1 of a limited number of sit-down eateries open after 10pm on a weekday in all of Sparks, NV. Noticed the same meticulous manager on duty from decades prior, lol. Cameron the waiter's a non-stop, unfiltered hoot that'll keep you giggling (unless you politely ask him to cork his pie-hole while serving you). The food? Meh. I mean, it'll get the job done. Like a lunchbox bolonga sandwich used to as a school kid. But nothing memorable or remarkable. My blue cheese salad dressing was like water (how do you mess that up?). And my pasta entree was just ok, average at best. Peppermill's 24hr. Cafe mid-town Reno is the much better choice for these restaurants owned by the same parent company. read more

We are coming to Western village hotel every year during the Christmas/new year time. And if course here is the first place for starting of our day. The breakfast is ok, not very special but it is a good starting point, when your are staying at this hotel. Hotel is dog friendly and we are coming every year with our little Maltipoo and going for breakfastwith our dog to this restaurant. But we had a really bad experience today and won't go anymore tomorrow and the rest of our stay to this restaurant. We went with our dog into the restaurant, there is no way to go direct to the restaurant and you have to stay for somebody to show your seat. They saw our dog(they worked more than 10 people at the same time) they talked every body silently and we didn't get, what is happening there. After we sat there, they called the security guards!!!! And we saw two big security guys are coming to us, we were also with three kids!!! We all scared, what happened!!! And they told us, that we broke the rules and dog is not allowed in this restaurant!!! There is no sign at the entrance of the restaurant for dog's rules. Every body saw it before and also the lady, who brought us to the seat. They could ask us friendly before and would be of course acceptable, but such a hard reaction, we didn't like it. We thought the rules is like prior years!!! Our kids scared after that, they didn't eat their breakfast and we went to another bakery to feed our kids. Before we are leaving, we talked with the manager, he just said: I am sorry!!!!!! Every body in the restaurant watched us to find what is happening with us, when two big security guys are coming to us!!! I am very angry and emotional in very bad situation. It was a very bad hardly start of the day and now is 4:00 pm afternoon, and still lying in bed and didn't do anything!!!! I never had a such a bad experience. We are coming from silicone valley from two big companies and we are coming to this hotel only because of dog friendly rules otherwise there are many many luxury hotel can you find in Reno and around this City and if course with best services!!!!! The food was absolutely AMAZING and so cheap! This was the perfect hangover food and also delicious when not hungover! The servers were the best part hands down. Always service with a smile and they even remembered us from the morning before! We were able to cover at least two of our meals each with our comp dollars too. Our food was really good, prices were incredibly reasonable, and our server was Leah was WONDERFUL! We ordered meals with soup, salad, and French bean sides, and everything was cooked well and colorful. Leah went above and beyond to make sure our kids were well cared for, she was prepared with plenty of options and ideas for them, and when explaining the soups- she actually went to the kitchen and brought us samples of both so we knew which one to order our picky eater. Seriously, how many servers do that? Not many.... she's a gem- and we hope that she is recognized for her attention to detail and thoughtfulness towards her customers. read more

First time at Western Village and Cafe Bellini. Kicking back with friends after a long and hard week. Service was gracious AND surprising. (More on that later.) we were seated immediately on a very busy Friday night. Got water right away and ordered within five minutes. My companions opted for double bacon cheeseburgers, while I chose the fish and chips platter. All came with very good though commercial fries. My meal was very good, as F&Cs go. Three large filets, fried greaselessy crunchy, with a house-made slaw and a fine, fresh dinner salad. Blanca, our server, was always nearby but never cloying. Went to pay and I saw the cashier rang up the wrong amount; it was less than the check. In answer to my inquiry, she said, "I gave you the player's discount." Very nice indeed. read more

What can I say about this place? It's located in Western Village so you know you're going to get your money's worth as with every restaurant in this little casino owned by big brother Peppermill. The food is on par for how much you're paying. Service is quiet nice although it can be VERY VERY slow during peaked times. Before I got married, I used to come here for the late night menu which meant even BETTER DEALS! Don't be put off by the unglamorous outside interior of the casino. Take a step inside and be amazed of how beautiful it is although you may be choking on cigarette smoke. Just take a speedy walk to the opposite side of the entrance to get to your Café. read more

Told was it was self seating so we sat ourself while waiting for menus for about 20 mins, finally our server came to ask if we wanted to order after being ignored for what seemed forever. We used to love coming here cuz is cheap but last week out experience was horrible.. The waitress literally took 30 mins to come and ask us if we wanted a refill.. And she told is since it was our third one she had to charge us for another one.. When we always go there and we never get charged for our fifth refill.. We complain to the manager as he said we were lying.. So it makes me sad to say that I won't ever come back.. You don't call your customers liars.. Tried this place out mainly because of convenience. I ordered the Original Whole Pig. It's pretty much how it sounds. Ham, bacon, sausage, eggs, hash browns and biscuits & gravy. My girlfriend ordered the croissant breakfast sandwich. We both ordered the Grand Mimosa which was pretty tasty. Everything was pretty much what you would expect at Western Village restaurants. A ton of food for a very low price. It wasn't the best breakfast I've had, but far from the worst. Decent food and a great value. read more

Stayed at the Western Village on our recent relocation to Reno and had the pleasure of eating at the cafe. Fantastic place to eat Great Food at a Great Price. In addition to good food the service is Excellent they go above and beyond to make you happy. We have eaten at many other places since being here and most of them should take a lesson on the customer service practices of this place. We have been back several times and each time it continues to amaze us how good they are. This place is worth checking out for a great meal and even better service. read more

Terrible service. Told us there was a 40 minute wait when we saw empty tables inside. A large group showed up after us put their name on the wait list. They knew a waitress in there and got seated before us. Horrible management. Their is always a wait no matter what time of day it is. So if you plan on going expect waiting. Food is mediocre at best. Decided to try the cafe out one afternoon as I have always heard great things about it. Service was quick and the waitress was on top of things. The place reminded me of times past and very cozy. Wife and I had a gift card. We both had the Prime rib, it was ok, generous portion. Vegies were your typical none fresh sort, didn't eat mine. I think the bread loaf was nuked and over cooked got hard after sitting a while. Service was ok, cocktails were reasonably price and actually good. Fast service and a constant smile. Seemed she really enjoyed what she does. Great place to go for a quick lunch. The renovation has really brightened the place up and the food is affordable and as good as it has always been. As a non-smoker, the walk through the smoke filled casino isn't the greatest but I quickly get over that once the bill arrives. read more

My family and I stayed at the Western Village Inn and Casino for a weekend and we stopped in to Cafe Bellini several times over the course of that weekend. They do have some great inexpensive specials like you would expect in any casino and the service was always good. The atmosphere is typical casino - dark and a little depressing but it was an easy stop in the morning or at strange times when we were hungry. It isn't very big, so there was a time when we were told we were going to have to wait for a table and we didn't stick around because it wasn't worth the wait. I'll go back if we stay there again, not terrible and not fabulous. read more

I absolutely LOVE the place! Everyone is so friendly and the food is delicious. The prices are amazing!! 5.95 specials and 13.00 steak dinner... Can't beat it! The last few times I had the pleasure of having Christian as my waiter. He is the BEST waiter in the entire restaurant and the most efficient. :) read more
