This is my third time coming to this restaurant - the first 2 times were amazing, so I brought my spouse-comparing it to restaurants in the North End - which he loves. I was very disappointed on this visit. We were sat by a very pleasant staff member at the bar - as I was still telling him how great the food was. The bartender was very slow to acknowledge us and even slower to ask us if would like a cocktail ( Admitting that I have been in the business for over 40 years - I get it - it's busy.) We got our cocktails and were somewhat rushed into ordering our dinners. I ordered the Caprese Salad - EVOO on the side - it was delivered promptly - missing the balsamic vinaigrette. Who knew that the EVOO that came on the side - as I had requested - had the balsamic on the bottom? We only found out after my spouse poured it over his entrée pasta. The response from the bartender was that they do that sometimes? Our entrees came promptly as well - my chicken parm was pretty good - huge portion! My spouse's entrée however was a mélange of different things - advertised as meatballs, sausage, lasagna - except the sausage was missing and the meal was only warm. I understand that it gets busy and I understand the bar had a lot of responsibilities - however the guest experience does not include the bartender stocking and cleaning in front of the customer. It seems like we were being rushed to leave and the restaurant was still open. All told - our experience was less than great and we will not be back. PS - Don't ask if the guest would like dessert - put a menu in front of them. read more

Café Assisi has become one of our favorites. The food is fresh, cooked perfectly and delicious. My husband orders the Veal Parm dinner with pasta and I try different things, but my favorite dinner is shrimp scampi. They serve large portions, enough for lunch the next day. The restaurant is very clean and the staff is very friendly. Most of the time you need a reservation for lunch and dinner. Susan, was our waitress. I remember her name because she was excellent. She was very attentive and friendly. We never had to look for her, she was right there when we needed her. 5 stars for Susan! We will definitely return to Assisi on a regular basis. read more

Friends suggested we meet here for lunch and I'm glad they did. Luncheon special was a cup of soup and a 1/2 sandwich. The pasta e fagioli soup was excellent and the sandwich (1/2 of a Tony Bennet....turkey, cheese, mayo, and asparagus) was more than enough. A full sandwich would have been way too much food for 1 meal. The luncheon prices are extremely reasonable. Tables are close but we never felt crowded nor rushed. Cafe Assisi - Italian Near Me - Wrentham, Massachusetts

Unfortunately, more and more people are discovering cafe assisi and it's getting harder for me to get a reservation! It's a very small place, they expanded into the space next door, so it's bigger now but still just as crowded. The Wrentham outlets are down the street, so it's a great way to end a day of shopping. They also have a refrigerated section where you can buy some pre-made items. The food is delicious. I always start with the seafood risotto stuffed pepper. The cooks and waitstaff have been there for years, so the food and service is always consistent. Love, love, love! Just make sure you call ahead!! read more

I almost don't want to write this review because I don't want this place to get any more crowded...VERY good Italian food and close to the outlets. Only two downsides: the space is quite small, so it can get a little cramped and sometimes is hard to get a reservation -- it adds to the ambiance. Also, on Sundays they open later and only serve the dinner menu. Not a huge inconvenience, just something to keep in mind. I've had most of the menu, and pretty regularly order pizza, sandwiches, and antipasto salad (amazing) to go. Such a good, family friendly, reasonably priced Italian restaurant in the area. I have to give two stars because the servers were nice and appetizers edible but that's it. I really don't know how they have anything more than two stars and I feel bad because I read almost every review before choosing and was very disappointed We live in New York and have eaten in the North End so my expectations are reasonable when not in certain areas. Apps we had asparagus wraps and mozzarella and tomatoes over arugula. Both were okay but not great. I had chicken scarpariello because after the appetizers I figured I'd stay away from anything with sauce. This was covered in some sort of brown sauce that resembled Marsala. No moist chicken or crispy sausage and potatoes. It did have the peppers and onions but soggy and drenched in sauce that shouldn't be on chicken scarp to begin with. My husband had the fresh parppadelle bolognese. Pasta was fresh and the pasta was actually good but the sauce killed it. Am I the only one who objects to microwaved food when I go out? My husband and I were there for lunch the other day and split a large chicken parm sandwich. He watched as the server put the chicken in the microwave, took it out and put it in a toasted roll. It was very hot, but the chicken was rubbery around the edges and soft in the middle. Yechh! Food was swimming in sauce and - incredibly - water? Did they dump the pasta into a bowl they had just washed that still had water in it? Yuck. Ordered appetizers, they arrived in 5 minutes. Some of the best italian food i've had outside of italy in a long time. This place may be small, may have a bit of a wait but the food is totally worth it. I think we'll be going back every friday till we can't walk anymore. I had the chicken scarpiello (sp?) and my boyfriend had the chicken parm. We started with some perfectly done squash blossoms as well which we found out were from the local farms in the area (two points here!) I honestly can't wait to go back. Visited this cute little nook with my folks- had decent reviews on Yelp so I trusted it would be a good choice. Wait staff and host were beyond fabulous and by 5:30 on a Thursday the place was packed. Started with a Caprese salad with percutio- very yummy but thats where it ends. My mom had butternut squash ravioli which was drowning in olive oil and looked like it had been sitting in the window for quite some time while the other meals were being prepared. My dad had a calzone- how can you screw up a calzone right??? Larger than a football...it had a few pieces of cheese and meat and needed a chain saw to cut into. I tried their pasta (absolutely boxed) with artichokes, grilled chicken and olives- very dry taste and zero flavor. Perhaps I should have borrowed some of my mom's olive oil. No liquor but we did enjoy 1 fantastic chocolate dessert. $95 later I think it was very over priced for the quality. read more

Cafe Asisi serves up tasty Italian food in a small restaurant not far from the Wrentham Village Outlets. In my recent trip I had their pizza, calamari, and a one-off antipasto plate that the owner put together for our table. The food was all excellent and our service was superb as well. The owner, a young guy named Dereck DiBiase, is also an extremely friendly host. I watched him greet a number of visitors as they came through the door like they were old friends or repeat customers. I don't get the hype or the yelp rating for this place. Food is mediocre at best. There's barely any room in this place also. You're essentially sitting on top of the next table. I got the lasagna and it was very very bland. The only good thing is that it's relatively inexpensive so I didn't waste a ton of money on half the order that got thrown away. This is our first visit to Assisi. My boyfriend and I came in on a Tuesday around midday and so it was almost empty. Our server was very pleasant and eager to take our order but when we needed a few minutes to view the menu she disappeared from sight and he eventually had to go find her where he found her in the other room checking Facebook on her phone. Once she returned she was very helpful with the menu. We ordered an app and the sweet potato pizza. The food was excellent and out very quickly. Our server did check on us once but never came back to refill our water and we had to ask the person clearing our plates to ask her to bring the check. Had we come during peak hours these lapses in service would be understandable but we were one of two tables which should be a manageable number of guests. Overall the fresh food and clean atmosphere would definitely bring us back. read more

The food will not disappoint at Cafe Assisi! The setting is a bit cramped but definitely worth withstanding to get a taste of the flavor and ambiance. It gets busy over the weekend so definitely worth visiting on the earlier side of the evening. Parking seem scarce in the front but they do have additional parking in the back and it seem to work for diners. The food is amazing. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars is because the man that was working the register was all over the place. I told him I came for pick up and told him my name and he offered me the wrong food. I politely said this is not what I ordered and he scrambled to find my order. Finally found it and then handed me the same wrong order that he offered me the first time. I said I did not order this and he said "uhhh I just asked you and you said this was yours." I declined and he apologized because he's been on vacation and couldn't think straight. I paid for my food and I needed change. I waited another 5 minutes for that. Just a little frustrating. Such a cute spot! With great food to boot. And did I mention liquor? It's quite a unique set up in here. It has the feel of a deli/sandwich shop when you walk in, but their menu is full of classic italian dishes, seafood entrees, creative calzones, and desserts. They also have a good selection of bottled beer as well as a full bar! I also noticed they had an actual deli meat windowed rack under the register for patrons who'd like to take some to-go. I recommend their Spinach Ravioli Pomadoro . The sauce was incredibly good, and it was full of spinach, cheese, and prosciutto. The staff seems very friendly and it appears that they have quite a few regulars as there were photos on the wall everywhere you looked. I really like this place and try to visit when I stop by Wrentham Outlets. They have several of their foods on display as soon as you enter, so you can actually see what you're about to order. Be aware that some of the portions (like the Calzones) are very large, so either split them between two people or plan on taking some food home. This was our first time but is definitely NOT our last. The place was small (you should call ahead on a Sat. Night), packed and had a very warm feel to it. Service was great, prices were North End but the portions were very generous (3/4 of us took half our meals home). Caesar salad was fresh and delicious and so was the warm fresh bread. My boyfriend and I went to Cafe Assisi two weeks ago for lunch, and were severely disappointed with the service we received. We've been there many times before and I'm usually very happy with the whole experience, but this time was awful. Our waitress was very scarce throughout the duration of our meal even though there were only 3 tables in the restaurant. She made herself readily available to a table near ours, but completely ignored us. She took great care of them and even made the people in the kitchen drinks from the bar, while we had to ask other servers for our silverware, refills on our waters, and even change from our check! I'm not exaggerating when I say what should have been a short lunch took an hour and a half, most spent waiting! My boyfriend and I are younger adults, so we think this had something to do with the service we received. Obviously she was working much harder for the other table full of older women for a better tip.... 2 stars because the food is great, but we will not be coming back. read more

This was our first time here. Somehow they did not have our reservation but had a table for us. The waitress was very helpful and accommodating with food allergies. She helped select a wine understanding what I was looking for. 4 stars for service. We choose the asparagus appetizer it looked blah when presented I expected a more roasted look but it tasted delicious. Place gets quite busy early, and from what I saw, must be busy all night. Service was good, food very good. Nice Rollitini Bolognese app. first time I have one of these with Bolognese in it. Veal Parm for one entrée and a nice Fussili with gilled chicken. Tera misu to finish it off. All food was very good, plentiful and the service was good as well. A nice gem. This is one of those unassuming restaurants that you don't appreciate until they impress the pants off you with a great meal. I came here with a girlfriend around prime dinner hour and the small, unpretentious ten or so tables were already filled. Luckily, we only had to wait about twenty minutes to be seated. The service was no frills but courteous and fast. We ordered off the menu (two orders of spaghetti bolognese, please!) and it was no problem at all. What a cute atmosphere tucked away but so close to the outlets which has no good food choices. The lasagna was really great but the meatballs were a bit dry.
