I have been meeting my best friend at the King Street Cafe for years- it's just halfway between our towns. The amazing omelettes and Oreo pancakes kept us happy for countless visits. The quality of food has declined over the last two years though. They've added a bar and fancy breakfast cocktails, and increased their prices at the same time. We may give it one more go,, but our last 4 visits have left us disappointed. No one checks to see if our food is good... once it really wasn't- the eggs were very watery, and instead of sending them back (because no server visited our table), they went untouched and no one noticed. read more

I will always judge a breakfast place by its home fries, and let me tell you.... THE BEST I'VE EVER HAD. Every breakfast place should compare to them and learn from them. So freaking good. Congratulations, you did it, you made the world's worst cup of coffee! Seriously their coffee is awful. The omelettes were good as were the hash-browns. My son order pancakes and they were flavorless and made from a mix. The restaurant itself desperately needs a deep clean and some paint. I absolutely love the food, the cooks are killing it at their job. However the service or just one guy who I some how always get when I go out to breakfast alone Alexander C .. gives poor service .. never asks how food is .. that was the first experience. Today .. I noticed .. I was charged $19.24 for an omelet ... It didnt include on the receipt that I asked for extra feta .. and no olives .. which I got the omelet and barely any feta ... then when I asked why the menu shows $15.49 for the omelet and was charged $19.24 was told there was a sign on the door about eggs being so expensive they raised the prices ... there isn't a sign on the door it's in there special little sign at the front desk ... and not for nothing egg prices have gone down ... I was refunded $1.50 still doesn't add up , it's a shame because the food is SO good but let's be honest your buying in bulk ... $20.00 for an omelette and $2.99 for a cup of coffee and then poor service ... he's lucky both times I even tipped him! And if you're going to charge for that you need to update your menus, yes it'll cost $1000s of dollars but that's not on me, every restaurant has had to do the same thing and update their menus ... and if we can all do math I should've been refunded $3.75. Have met friends here for years off and off as a central location. Today was the worst - egg white omelette came out yellow and had a terrible taste - well done English was burnt. Complained about the omelette as I couldn't eat it. Bill came and they deducted 50% - for a meal that's untouched. Asked for a manager and they deducted the whole thing. I've been eating at this place since 2008. Generally I've had a few misses on meals, but today may be the last time I eat there. They recently hired a cook for Monday who has consistently failed to prepare food properly. Today they served me over cooked eggs that were served without comment when it was obvious they were over cooked and burnt. I have to insist to the owner that they get another cook for Monday since this has happened several times over the last few months. I should have avoided coming in all together. I was also charged a premium since it was a holiday and should have gotten some sort of refund or comp. Considering it's a major holiday, the cook on staff may alienate a lot of other customers, putting the place at risk. read more

My husband and I went for breakfast this morning and we're very disappointed. We ordered coffee and water and each got an omelet. We got the awful cup of coffee but not our waters. When our meals were delivered there was a stink bug on my plate. Still no water. Asked again. Finally got our waters. No one came to see how are meals were. When our empty plates were taken away, We asked for more coffee. Nope didn't happen. Our bill came 40 bucks! Lousy server, lousy meal, lousy coffee. We WERE regular customers but not any longer! I asked why the menu had omelet for $15.74 and we were charged 18.00. The hostess pointed to a note on the board whete the specials are listed stating that each egg meal was up charged .50 per egg and since our omelets were 3 eggs 1.50 higher. My opinion is the server should have mentioned it when he took our order, or the menu should have a note on it! I realize eggs are expensive but I feel it's a pretty sleazy way to notify customers. You lost 2 customers today! I did ask the hostess and she brought over the server and it just didn't solve the issue. Never again! read more

So visiting Dean college our daughter suggested we come here. I would say better than most Dinners, not the best I have ever had, but VERY good like 90+. In fairness, I tried food off everyone's plate and think I can give an accurate assessment of the food. LOL. One pet peeve is cheap maple syrup. I've been here many times. The food is always good and appropriate servings- the potatoes are the best, and the service is always efficient. Prices are a little on the high side. The tab of $33 for two breakfasts, coffees and a tip, is a little steep in my book, so we don't come here to often. The waitress checked on us to make sure everything was good, and also I assume the other lady who checked in on us was possibly the manager. I like that, and I appreciate her time making sure everything was good. It would be nice if they offered lighter breakfasts. Bagel, cream cheese and Lox sandwich item would be great. Walked into the restaurant today and the hostess look absolutely miserable. A guy came up to her and you could tell he was a regular and said bye to her and have a nice day and she couldn't even smile at him, she tilted her head and looked annoyed and said bye. Not a good start to breakfast, hostesses are the first impression you get when you walk into a restaurant. It wouldn't hurt her to smile once in awhile. Then we sat down to order. My mom got a breakfast meal with French toast, eggs and bacon. I ordered my eleven month old French toast and sausage. When the food came the hostess delivered it without a smile and my eleven months old French toast was so hard, I couldn't cut it with the knife. there's no way she could've eaten it. Little did we know the French toast is made with French bread which was not stated on the children's menu. and if you want real French toast you have to order Texas toast. The bacon was so hard you could drop it on the plate and it would shatter. We didn't want to complain so we politely pushed the French toast to the side and continued to eat the other items. We paid for our food and as I was signing the bill my mom said to the waitress Kaylyn that the reason we didn't eat our food was because the French toast was so hard and we didn't realize it was made from French bread. She raised her voice and said "why didn't you tell me this before, we could've tried to make it better" my mom tried to say well we are telling you now so you are aware and she basically yelled at my mom and told her " You need to tell us next time and give us a chance to make it better and there is nothing I can do to help you now". She threw her hands up and walked away. There was no reason for her to scold us for letting her know why we didn't eat or want to take it home. As a waitress she should've noticed the food wasn't eaten and asked if there was something wrong. I use to be a waitress myself and I would never raise my voice at a customer or scold them for telling me the food was bad. We definitely won't be back and I was giving her a normal tip until she raised her voice and I changed her tip immediately. Beau you should really think about teaching your staff how to treat customers and find a new hostess that wants to actually greet your customers when they walk through the door with a smile. I walked in to a big smile and social DISTANCING !! I love it. The staff moves like rockets around the place and you could preform surgery with how sterile the restaurant is kept. We sat and again everything was clean and we touched only what we used.
