I have gone to Café on the common for years. It's a very simple but very clean place with a decent amount of seats. Their menu is large and offers a lot of of the classics but also a lot of different things. I've never had an issue with service. Everybody has always been very friendly and quick. If you were going mid to late morning on the weekend or at lunchtime during the week expect a wait. But their waffles are to die for!!! Would highly recommend if you're in the area read more

Nothing special about the breakfast I ate. The service is friendly, the menu is expansive and the atmosphere was family friendly. I will try them one more time for lunch, hoping the sandwich will be tasty. Stay tuned. The buttermilk pancakes were flavorless, margarine instead of butter and the syrup was bland. Food was okay my Food wasn't hot at all, my home fries were not cooked and I had 1 side order of baked beans and was charged 4.95. The side was not even 1ouch. Waitress was pleasant. They charged 7.95 for 2 cups of coffee. Not sure why? It's was not a place I'd ever go back to. Overpriced and food was not worth it at al!!! read more

After a red-eye flight into Boston, our family stopped by this place on our way to Rhode Island. This local spot definitely hit the spot! I was starving so I ordered the Everything Omelette (no cheese) and it was loaded with everything that I love in an omelette from sausage and crispy bacon to onions and peppers (would have loved if there was spinach, but it was tasty nonetheless). The homefries were crispy, seasoned just right and complemented the omelette well. I don't remember if there was a parking lot or not, but we were able to find street parking just across from the restaurant immediately upon our arrival. We stopped by for breakfast on a midweek morning in the spring. There were only 3 tables full but we still had to wait to be seated. Our waitress was busy refilling napkin holders and straw holders to pay attention to us. My husband had to go up to the counter to request a coffee refill and she snapped at him, saying she'd be there in a minute. The food was awful. I got the pancakes and a side of bacon. They came with fake syrup, like a container of brown karosyrup. The pancakes were gigantic, thick, under cooked, smelled like raw pancake mix, horrible. Never going back read more

This is one of our top breakfast considerations. Our family have been stopping by for more than a decade. The food is good, service is prompt, the restaurant and restrooms are clean, the owner is often seen supervising and watching over the business, and the food is consistently good ! My son enjoys the pancakes. I enjoy the low carb. sampler. We enjoy this restaurant so much it is easy to overlook the rare negatives. I can only think of 2: - No private parking lot and street parking can be rare during the busy hours. - For those who require WiFi, there is no "guest WiFi " and town free WiFi is rare or poor quality. This has not been a problem for us. We return for the good food served by great staff, and will return soon ! read more

Cafe on the Common is, well, pretty common. Nothing special, affordable dinner type food. The food is OK. If you are looking for some innovative, fresh or farm to table options this is not the place. Definitely not the place for specialty coffee or espresso drinks. We had the stuffed blueberry french toast. Did not wow us, lots of cream cheese very heavy. The vanilla used was tasted medicinal, probably was imitation vanilla, but again you get what you pay for. I had crab cake Benedict. The poach on the eggs was nice, but the cakes were fried, dense and very heavy, not a lot of crab going on. This came with the completely unseasoned home fries. The 3 stars all go to the attentive and friendly waitstaff we had the pleasure of being served by. read more

Cute little cafe. Great food! I got banana walnut pancakes and I've never had a better pancake combo. Big portions, too. Three pancakes and I took two home! Person I was with got the stuffers, and said it was delicious, too. Ate so much we were so full and had lots to take home! We will be coming back! I came here once and ordered an omelet. The servers were friendly. The food was okay. Not great. I would also recommend avoiding peak hours on a weekend. Otherwise there could be a long wait. Fortunately I arrived there between 12:30 and 1pm on a Sunday when the place wasn't as crowded. read more

10.26.19 updated review: NOPE NOPE NOPE not eating here again. The home fries were like licking a salt lick and my egg whites were bright yellow from butter crap. Sent it back and asked them to take it off the bill. Daughters food was burnt, her sausages were hard, and eggs runny when she asked for for them over hard, and even too salty for her. We asked for the bill. They wouldn't take her food off the bill $ We are starting the day off at somewhere else Food today was pretty basic. Husband had the eggs, bacon, home fries and toast. I opted for an egg white veggie omelette with home fries and rye toast. Today May have been an off day for the chef. The home fries were salty and the rest of the food lacked flavor. It was solid, but nothing extraordinary. I got a spinach and mushroom Benedict (hollandaise on the side). We came here for breakfast and the food did not disappoint! Very tasty food and reasonably priced. Only giving three stars because of the service, while our food came out in a timely manner our waitress did not seem interested in actually serving our table, it seemed like we were more of a hassle than customers. She seemed to rush by our table and just dropped the check off without even saying much. I understand the lack of staffing but that is no real excuse for treating a customer like a hassle. I should have knownthat the pepper jack cheese would cause this to be greasier than normal, but nothing a good blotting from my napkin didn't take care of. The French toast was bland. My boyfriend was impressed by his Benedict but I think he was just happy to have food in front of him.

There's a nonna back there that knows what she's doing! The restaurant has two sides and is cozy. The wine selection is excellent, and our waiter recommended a Montepulciano that was so phenomenal we ended up ordering a whole bottle. We're still craving it days later. We started with the oysters, which I believe were from Wellfleet, and they were outstanding. They were meaty, fresh, and had no brine/salty taste at all. Even the bread with olive oil was memorable because it was perfectly salted and soo flavorful. For my entree, I had the chicken piccata with house‑made gnocchi--- simply divine. Truly one of the best gnocchis I've ever had! Wish there was more of them though. This was our first time trying the restaurant and it was SO good. Everything from the food, the wine, the service, it made for a fantastic experience. We'll definitely be back!

I was greeted by Murph the bartender who has worked in the establishment for years. I ordered an Italian sandwich special. It came with fresh chips and a pickle. What a meaty sandwich. Was loaded with everything. Absolutely amazing sandwich. The bar was awesome. Murph made some good drinks. Ends up he knew my neighborhood growing up. Great conversation. Prices were very reasonable. Great staff great service. Very clean well established. Great hang out. Definitely give it a shot. Also they have a great craft beer selection.

The sausage (more like a patty) was super greasy and she didn't like them at all. She also had the home fries and they were just ok. Windows were really dirty which I guess I can understand with wind of the small planes flying around. The staff was not great, it wasn't even good. $30 for 2 orders of eggs over easy, toast, 1 order of bacon (extra charge) and 1 order of sausage (extra charge) and one tea ($4.50 crazy). Totally not worth it. Gave it a second chance and there won't be a third. Great concept but poorly executed. The best thing they had was good 70s, 80s music. That was the highlight.
