Chicken Parmigiana
Kelly L.

Thank goodness I found a spot nearby with truly fresh Italian food. I thought I'd have to keep making that hour-long drive to the North End. Honestly, Trattoria Della Nonna may be better. They take cards, there's more space, and everything just feels easier. We ordered takeout since it was a busy Saturday night, and we were right to assume the place would be packed. The restaurant is located on the main road in Mansfield, but the entrance is on the side, giving it a bit of a speakeasy vibe. Inside, it's cozy, with two rooms. A bar and dining area in the back, and a reservation-only room up front. The chicken parmigiana was fresh, tender, and the sauce was spot-on. We also got the tomato bruschetta, truffle fries, and Caesar salad. The Caesar was fine, but would have been better with more dresssing. The bruschetta was excellent and the fries were amazing. Honestly, you really can't go wrong with anything here.

I really wanted to love this place but it was just ok, but could've just been it wasn't our cup of tea. Located in downtown Mansfield - street parking only. Just note that the entrance is not at the front of the building, it's at a side door down the alleyway. We came here for our anniversary dinner as the mister knows I love a good home made pasta and from reading that everything is made fresh with hand picked ingredients, he thought the pasta was homemade as well, unfortunately only the gnocchi and ravioli were made in house. We were told that due to staff shortage, they couldn't keep up with making fresh pasta anymore. The bread appetizer was good that had a tasty olive oil that accompanied it. The fresh ricotta and pecorino/prosciutto sticks - both were fine but nothing phenomenal. We both ordered parmigiana after we were told their parm is delicious as they don't put it in the oven twice - so we got one chicken and one veal. We realized when it came out what they meant - the burrata on the parm was cold. Very interesting rendition but not for us. I didn't like a bite of warm chicken then a bite of cold burrata to follow up. Our favorite prob was the dessert, toffee cake - it was a nice finish to dinner. The service was good but it was pretty busy that night so everything felt a bit chaotic, but kudos to the team as glasses were always filled and dishes were cleared promptly. It does feel a bit tight but I'm sure they try to maximize the space they have. It's a bit out of the way so we won't be rushing back.

If you want real authentic Italian food? This is your place. You can pick between a elegant dining room or a nice seat on the patio on the street of this nice peaceful town. The service was great from the first hello. Everyone was so nice and helpful. It felt like family. Our meal started with the cheese stuffed dates and eggplant. These were fabulous. We then had our mains come out. Not only did these look wonderful but hey tasted out of this world good. The spaghetti was just like grandmas and the other dishes were to die for. If you are looking for a great dinner out or a special meal date, give this place a try.

Nice spot for dinner. We arrived shortly after 6:30, seat was ready for us. Staffing was short but they did the best they could. We ordered 1/2 portion scallops for an appetizer. We got The pork chop and aqua pazza with halibut for the other entree. Both meals were very good. Dessert was almond cake and cappuccino. Great spot will certainly go again.

"Walk in as strangers, leave as friends."…read more If that's not a saying that makes you want to head there now, then I don't know what is LOL! Obviously, there is more to the new renovated location of La Cantina than this saying but I will say I was pretty impressed when I saw it and knew I had to add it to my review. Let's just say it is pretty accurate. We did leave as friends since we made a few at the bar and then some. Just saying! La Cantina winery in Franklin, MA used to be a small wine bar that offered wine tasting flights and minimal food. BUT, now it is in a stunning new location (not far from their old stomping grounds). Fun Fact: It used to be a Mechanic garage. Well, wait until you see how it has turned from fixing cars to wine making and tasting. YOU HAVE GOT TO COME HERE! Parking is easy with plenty of spots. They have a lot of room at their gorgeous bar, but they also have high tops and tables for families or a large group. And, they host events here too; birthday parties, bridal showers, and anything in between, this place is it. I actually want to hold one of my milestone birthday parties here but well keep the number a secret for now. Service: Alana was our bartender and she was wonderful. Always asking us what we needed and how were doing. You don't get this upscale service any where else. And, when I wanted another sample of something she gave it to me without a fuss. Always with a smile on her face, she was the best. Wine: They have an excellent wine menu to choose from and they offer flights for about $25 pp. Flights are the best way to try multiple wines. I personally loved most of the red wines with Petit Sirah being my favorite. My husband loved their Barbera! I did sample their Sauv Blanc too which was nice but it was too cold to have a full pour. Food: Their menu is great with a ton of options from charcuterie, to tapas and some entrees. I will say some of their items can get expensive but definitely worth it. We started with a few cheeses and prosciutto. Then we ordered one of their popular pizzas called La Cantina. Everything was fresh, made in house with their beautiful pizza oven right smack in the middle of the bar. You have got to see this thing, its huge! Overall: If I could give this place 10 stars I would. We had the best time and we can't wait to go back. Franklin is not far from where we live but still a good 30 minute drive and also not far from the Wrentham outlets. We didn't have to make a reservation for a Sunday afternoon but I bet Saturdays can get pretty busy. I just loved everything about this wine bar and I know you will too! Cheers~

Always refilling drinks and checking in. We started with the delicious focaccia service and an order of calamari. The calamari was a bit undercooked if I'm being honest--it squeaked against the tooth. The flavor was fine, presentation was beautiful (we asked for additional marinara) but it just wasn't our favorite even though we were happy to see both rings and tentacles/whole bodies. My branzino special (over Mediterranean risotto) was excellent. The bf had the pork Milanese, which he enjoyed--he's just not a fan of pesto, which was what the homemade fettuccini was sauced with. Next time he'd switch that out. Dessert was an amazing brownie sundae with TWO scoops of ice cream! The cappuccinos (no photos) were piping hot and served with mini almond biscotti--Thank you! #iykyk I'm having a dry October leading up to a family wedding, but I'll be back for the many gorgeous cocktails I saw being delivered to patrons.

Food is adventurous & bold; memorable meals over the years: Fried Goat cheese with charcuterie meats, manchego cheese & french bread, have to do The Bocado Experience for 2 or 4, Jamon Iberico, Pato (duck pastrami w sherry glaze), tuna poke, atun de bocado (seared yellowfin saku tuna), braised pork belly, Spanish octopus, mussels in cream sc, twin mini Kobe style beef burgers, venison, fried calamari, lollipop lamb chops, seared beef tenderloin, classic paella & Paella de Mariscos, & baked flan for dessert. Just so fascinating - their chefs can put out such tasty small plates so quickly, each packed with such fresh & exciting flavors, always cooked to perfection (never over or under cooked). Get the sangria pitchers, bar is always packed & hopping. Dining room just got a refresh, but was beautiful even before with a great atmosphere also. Our least favorite was the rabbit (way too many small bones to pick out).

Okay, well. DO NOT EXPECT TO PHOTOGRAPH YOUR FOOD & HAVE YOUR CAMERA EAT FIRST here (this also…read moreincludes the cocktails). The food presentation just aint it.....there is none. I would suggest to them using smaller appetizer platters so the food doesn't look like it got slapped on them straight outta the pan with literally no care & respect for the ingredients. The Gambas Al Ajillo deserved more than 2 pieces (NOT SLICES) of croutons, The pork belly & polenta dish was unbalanced & there was hardly any polenta to be evenly shaped between a party of 4, It was the saddest looking octopus dish I've ever seen next to a pile of spices potatoes. Just because it is a tapas wine bar, doesn't mean they're given a pass to ignore how appealing it looks to guests. Hit or miss for the mai tais (the bartenders need to work on their ratios). Bcuz why am I can just order a screwdriver with the amount of orange juice we were given. HOWEVER, everything is edible & incredibly delicious. The authentic Spanish flavors absolutely shine thru!

Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of flashy stores and wine bars with enomatic wine systems and tasting credit cards, but it's nice to walk into a shop that looks like someone's HOUSE from the outside. Space is a little cramped but the shelves are filled with gems priced under $20. Yes, there's certainly pricier bottles but I wasn't in the market for that this day. How we would rate our experience Sommelier & Wine -- 5/5 A true highlight. We started with a half bottle of sparkling, then chose a bottle of white. The sommelier presented the bottle, which is on the prestige wine tasting list. His pairing with the artichoke was superb. Service -- 4/5 Really polished, Michelin-level service. They pushed in our chairs, folded our napkins if we stepped away, changed silverware between courses. Only opportunity was sweeping up crumbs. There was one mix-up when someone who wasn't our server brought out a quail dish. We explained we're vegan, and he immediately took it away, returned and apologized. Otherwise, service was excellent. Ambiance -- 3/5 The water views are beautiful and could make this a 4, but a rowdy terrace party gave more sports-bar vibes, and the door to the bar kept opening. Presentation -- 3.5/5 Visually stunning, with obvious precision and advanced gastronomy techniques. The uniformity of the vegetables and textures was impressive. Some courses were 5/5 showstoppers, while others were one too many strange bowls of foam--2/5. Taste -- 1/5 The food was seriously bland. We observed the vegetarian dishes were similar to the meat and seafood dishes, but with the protein removed. When you remove a salty, savory fish, you also remove everything it contributes. Something needs to be added back to execute the original composition. Price -- 2/5 At $185 per person, the vegetarian tasting menu is not justified at the same meat price. I'm happy to pay for an incredible experience, but this menu should be closer to $99-$125 WITH improved taste and care. Bottom line Aurelia has potential, but I would not currently recommend it to vegetarians or vegans unless they take our feedback seriously. The vegetables felt like supporting players in dishes designed around the meat or seafood, and didn't shine on their own. The service, wine program and technical execution are all there. But the most important part is simple, the food should taste good, especially at thar price.
