This is the only diner in Potrero, and it's a hidden gem. :) The staff is very small but very friendly, everything is cooked on site from fresh ingredients, the food is absolutely delicious, and the coffee (with lots of refills!) is quite good. There's no wifi, but that'll just help you keep your kind on the food and the pretty scenery outside. (There's a TV set for a local news channel, though.) If you're a fellow PCT hiker doing one last practice hike before starting the big thru-hike, check this place out. :) Keep in mind that it's closed Mondays and Tuesdays, and stays open between 8am-2pm. Cafe 94 is a hidden little gem in Potrero, I think perhaps the only made to order restaurant in this town. I ordered the breakfast burrito and was astounded at what they served for the price. This burritos could have easily fed 2 people, maybe even 3. They stuff it with as much food as possible and the flavors are totally on point. Looking at their full menu, they have plenty to choose from and their prices are unbelievably affordable. When I'm back in Potrero I will for sure come by to try out their lunch menu read more

Took a drive out of San Diego today and headed east, stopping for lunch here after reading the reviews and yes, Yelpers got it right again. My husband ordered chile rellenos which were totally KILLER and I ordered menudo which was also wonderful. I make chile rellenos from scratch myself and my husband and I rarely order them when we're out because other ones never come close to the ones I make but today we have found some that are not only bomb but also worth a drive to eat if I'm not making them myself. Edith and other family members run the restaurant and do all the food prep themselves and I can tell you they know what they're doing. She was friendly, gracious and we will make sure to support her hard work! Don't MISS this place! read more

We rode the Harleys out during the pandemic. I wasn't expecting to much. But to our surprise the food was amazing!! I had a bean & cheese burrito with fresh pico. My husband had a country fried steak sandwich, tender & seasoned well. Our friends had the fish sandwich, fresh, no frozen patty & also the grilled chicken salad was great. It's all about the Chili Rellenos! About the best we have had. However, you really need to call ahead of time to make sure they have them. As it was, on our last visit, four of us arrived all prepared for Chili Rellenos. They were out, but we had other Mexican selections. The owner said that if we returned the next day, they would have some fresh Chili Rellenos. We did return and we, and our friends, were not disappointed. Their Mexican food is excellent. We visited this quaint diner on Sunday. The food was delicious and the serving size was enormous. Kid friendly. Great service. We arrived 40 minutes before closing, they were very attentive and didn't mind us showing up before closing and had no problem with us staying and not hurrying us through our meal. The cook even came out to thank us for coming in and took pictures of all our jeeps. We are happy to recommend Cafe 94! read more

Excellent customer sevice. A hole in the wall little place along the 94 hwy. We stopped by here after seeing the reviews. All of the other customers were also motorcyclists. We had the Carne asada chimichanga and the Chile relleno. Very yummy. The chimichanga had a lot of tostado to it so I pulled half of it off to not eat all of the carbs... Carne asade was wonderfully flavored. The Chile relleno had a kick to it. I'd get sour cream on it (and we did) if you don't want it spicey.... Love this place. Glad we stopped by! read more

Wow! if your looking for a foodie gold mine hidden off Old Hwy 94, park your Iron Horse at this place. It's crazy there are no signs to get you there but your in homemade food heaven right after the sharp right turn. I'm working in the area and have eaten here twice 1.Tortilla Soup would make the Famous Mexican tough guy Poncho Villa cry and 2.Chorizo Breakfast plate was bomb. The beautiful lady who owns and operates the place makes the stuff fresh fresh fresh and makes you feel like a wanted customer. The place is clean clean clean which is a must for me. I came in here for some breakfast on my way home to Campo. I had heard about this place from my man who use to ride with a motorcycle group and they'd stop here for a bite. I really enjoyed my hot coffee and country fried steak and eggs with a side of biscuits and gravy. One of my favorite dishes to order. Café 94 is the BEST place to stop for breakfast when you're riding the 94. We are always greeted with smiles and a hug every time we come in and they always remember us! I love how motorcycle friendly they are and accommodating to all kinds of bikers. The food is perfectly comforting and the salsa is on point! I always leave the café with a food coma and struggle to get back on the bike but it's so worth it! When they left the old location and were gone for a little bit we were SO sad that we hardly rode the 94, the café makes it worth driving an hour just to get to the meet spot! I hope they never leave! read more

This place has improved greatly since we were here a couple of years ago. DH had a hamburger, which was accompanied by a generous serving of onion rings. He said it was nothing spectactular, but was OK. I had the chicken tostada. There were *two* tostada's on the plate, and accompanying rice and beans. Well enough to make two meals. The chicken tostada was not salty, as they often are, which was a nice change. The rice was a touch salty, and set off the tostada very well. read more

Went there with my four year old after visiting the railway museum. What great food! Got there right before they closed but they stayed open for us. The lady was very friendly. Awesome day for a drive out in the back country. Stopped in at the cafe for lunch. My husband and granddaughter's lunches looked and tasted great. However, mine was another story. When you order chile fries with cheese and onions you know exactly what to expect. My meal consisted of fries covered with retried beans and cheese.. Absolutely discusting! Went to use the ladies room and didn't fine any toilet paper or seat covers. The enterior was old, shabby and not very clean. I will not ever come here again! Beware! read more

Do not go here. The service was sorely lacking. It took over an hour for 4 breakfasts, and the food was nearly inedible. The orders were wrong, the check was not added correctly, and all we got from the staff was a raised eyebrow. These off the beaten track places are usually great or terrible. Unfortunately this one is terrible. read more
