Best chowhall on base but still crap. The food is getting better but I don't eat at the chow hall if I don't have to.

The food isn't too bad. It's better than the Del Mar Chow Hall. The lines move fairly quickly.

This is a great place for holding events and such. You do need a military id to get on base.

I wasn't expecting much to begin with, so maybe that's why I am surprised. Price was still a bargain considering the selection of rather tasty food (it was all pretty good); and, the fact that you can do just what I did, have a bite or two of just about everything before you get full. Then, you can go back for more . . . again. And don't forget to grab a plate of desserts so you can taste those too. A rather sketchy customer crowd, but it is a buffet. Please don't forget to leave the table servers a buck or two. They seemed to be putting in a pretty good effort. Dicks

BUT this one ain't it! There were a handful of items that were decently edible like mashed potatoes and gravy. The salad bar was also alright. It's difficult to mess up chopped lettuce mix because it only requires opening a bag or container and pouring the contents into the bin. Fried chicken was fine as long as you are able to get a piece or two. I noticed if you come in later in the evening, the food is not replenished so you are stuck with bottom of the bin caked on dry remnants. Here are the highlights: the server bringing the drinks and busing tables was doing her best to be happy and welcoming. One of the cooks was very courteous and also did her best to anticipate customer needs. They get two thumbs up! Now for the fun part: The clam chowder was too salty and had an aftertaste of old dirty towel, promising a fitting end to my evening with a bad tummy ache. The cook making the steak didn't seem to care about communicating a single word with the customers. Her sole purpose was to repeatedly flip something that looked like meat and point to a bin full of burned protein hockey pucks. I noticed how the line of hungry patrons grew with eager anticipation as she stopped flipping and started attempting to slice. As each diner finally walked away with something on their plate, she was free to disappear in the back to probably make more clam chowder. I watched a couple seated near me with steak on their plate. Husband was breaking a sweat trying to slice a piece while his wife was busy trying to gracefully eject something inedible from her mouth. Now on to the pinnacle of the meal - dessert time. There wasn't much left, so I chose a slice of pecan pie. It looked promising, like something you could pick up at the local grocery store, but that's where any similarity ends. It tasted old and stale, like it was made from expired corn syrup found at the bottom of the moldy basement. The soft serve ice cream machine was screaming like an exit door alarm every time someone pulled the arm to coax out some frozen ice milk. Then I spotted the highlight of the evening. I didn't think it was possible to mess up jello, but heck you learn something new everyday. I captured that masterpiece in a photo. Sadly, the owner of this location really needs to put many improvements in place. People do enjoy going to buffets and truly miss Souplantation and HomeTown Buffet. Golden Corral has the potential to fill this gap. It is in a good location anchored by Target with lots of parking to serve a busy neighborhood in oceanside. It also has a few employees who still care to do a good job. So please take the good location and good staff and make this Golden Corral a worthy business for hungry patrons looking to spend money at a place with quality food and variety.

They have a great menu selection, the food is always fairly good, and overall the service is quick and kind. One thing to note, is that they are a bit pricier than I'd expect for the type of food they are serving, but it's still a good place to check out. I'll note that a handful of times we've ordered recently for pickup or delivery they've messed up our order, hence the 4/5 stars, but overall it's a good place. I'd recommend if you're looking for a decent and quick dinner.

Your kid a picky eater? He only eats Mac & Cheese and I'm talking for B-fast, Lunch, Dinner, brunch, Linner, snacks, whatever!?! It's Kraft Mac & Cheese or it's nada! Then there was that episode with my little brother when we were growing up where he only ate Lil Debbie's!!! Mom....what were you thinking??? And why was that not my menu for even a week, let alone the years Jaime got it for? Anyways back to pit stop. Big open seating dining. If I recall, customers order before grabbing their seat. I've seen it 3/4 crowded but I have never been there when the busy times are rocking. As stated the menu is extensive. Burgers, sandwiches, big salads, entrees you name it and it's likely that if any diner anywhere has offered that plate, the Pit Stop has it as well! I've ordered something different every time and have never been disappointed. But understand it's diner dining. And yes! I am sure they also serve Mac and Cheese! Cheers

This one of the few places in town that is a nice but casual restaurant with a good menu for breakfast and lunch, and for dinner too. The prices are reasonable too. They have a great bar with drink specials. I've tried a few cocktails and sweet wines as well as their coffee selections. Today's visit was at lunch time with a friend. I wanted to show up early to get on the wait list early so my guest didn't have to wait. To my surprise, I only had to wait 5 minutes. The wait time was much longer when we were leaving Parking does get full quickly at the top area. Just remember there is parking below, but you will have to face stairs to reach the top level to see the hostess for seating. My lunch meal that I usually get is a Chinese Chicken salad, today was no different. I usually request for extra dressing.. My husband and I like that they do serve soda water. Our server was very friendly and checked on us often. I forgot to point out that when I come with family we prefer outdoor seating if the weather permits. The reason being is that it is loud inside. There is background music, but it could barely be heard because of the echoing of people talking. It is difficult to hear the people you are there with. Today I opted to sit inside because it was warm outside. Well, it was pretty warm inside so the next time it is warm outside I will opt to sit outdoors any way. Great food, nice bar, outdoor seating and good prices. You''ll find me back here.

On Saturday we wandered into TCI for dinner and started with the heirloom tomato and burrata with crostini. It was so fresh and delicious that I briefly considered writing the tomatoes a thank-you note. Next came the Harvest Valley Salad, which somehow managed to make me genuinely excited about lettuce--an achievement that deserves recognition from the culinary Olympics. For our entrée we ordered the Wagyu Steak Frites with chimichurri. The steak was cooked so perfectly it should probably be framed instead of sliced. Every bite was fantastic. We finished with the ube panna cotta, which was elegant, silky, and the kind of dessert that makes you promise you'll "just have one bite" before accidentally eating half of it. Nathan took wonderful care of us all evening. He was warm, friendly, attentive, and struck that perfect balance between making us feel welcome and giving us time to enjoy the gorgeous patio. Watching the sunset with live music in the background and that spectacular view? It was one of those evenings that quietly reminds you why people go out to eat in the first place. Apparently we enjoyed ourselves so much that we came back the very just two days for lunch. (Scientific research requires repeat testing.) We started with the hummus, which arrived looking like it belonged in an art gallery. Fortunately, it tasted every bit as good as it looked. Then came the chile relleno, which was absolutely outstanding. If this dish ever goes missing, I'd recommend checking my refrigerator first. Faith was wonderfully friendly and outgoing, and our food expeditor, David, was so genuinely warm and personable that by the time he left the table, it felt like we'd known him for years. Restaurants can teach hospitality, but that kind of kindness is simply who some people are. My only tiny suggestion: please turn on the patio misters during these triple-digit California afternoons. The food was keeping us warm emotionally; the weather was handling the rest. And on the way out we let Christine know the carpets at the entrances needed a vacuum. Fantastic food, exceptional service, beautiful views, and an atmosphere that keeps drawing us back. Cork Fire Kitchen has once again reminded us why it's one of our favorite places to dine. Bravo to the entire team!

It was something to nibble on between classes, but I'm not even sure the majority of what they served there was food... Times certainly have changed when it comes to college food offerings! There are many options at MiraCosta that don't involve vending machines (even though there are plenty around campus) or greasy fast food devoid of nutrients. I happened to come across the Cafe here by compete accident. I was looking for the bookstore and ended up in a room that smelled delicious! There's plenty of fresh fruit, an array of beverages, plenty of seating space to enjoy your food while double checking a homework assignment (or Yelping, because the college has free WiFi...), and it's definitely not the greasy, non-nutritional food I'd become accustomed to when I was in college the first time around. The food is arranged in a cafeteria/buffet type setting, so you just walk around the counters, choose your food items, and take them to the cashier to pay for it. It's actually pretty decent food too...especially for a college! The smell of the food was not just some lie my nose told my brain because of my hungry stomach! It's not only fresh and healthy (well, most of the menu items are, I should say!), but this is now a place I plan on frequenting since I've got a class that runs past lunch every day this semester. The staff are professional and courteous, and the food may not be homemade or gourmet, but it's relatively affordable...and it's not Taco Bell! It's nice to have a place to grab a bite while waiting for your study group to start, or get something quick and simple to make sure your growling gut doesn't interrupt your entire class. It's one of the many things I've discovered on this campus that make going back to college a much nicer experience than it was the first time around. The seating area is clean, the people are friendly, and the food has ingredients you can actually pronounce. I think this may be one of my new favorite places on campus. :)
