I've heard of Cafe 86, but didn't have time to stop by until now. I tried their upside down halo halo, ube leche flan cupcake, and ube crinkle. All three were delicious and full of ube flavor. I love that the upside down halo halo maximizes the ube and has a simple scoop of vanilla ice cream on top (with the piece of flan, of course). I just found the cupcake a bit dry. The cafe was completely full when I visited. I snagged the last available table near the bathroom. Groups would come and go though. Service was quick. The cashier was kind and answered all of my questions patiently. There is a garage with visitor parking or street parking spaces, all free.
Such an amazing experience at Cafe 86! The food was delicious! I would 100% recommend the turkey pesto, very flavorful and paired with fresh potato chips creates the best combo! My drink was the Ube Matcha Latte recommended to me by Miguel! I came in not knowing what I wanted but Miguel was quick to find me the perfect drink and made good conversation. The vibe of the cafe was phenomenal, an amazing playlist and nice clean seating areas. Joslyn was also very attentive and made sure I enjoyed the quality of both my beverage and my meal. I definitely recommend this cafe if you need a new study spot or a place to hang and catch up with some friends.

The menu was pretty limited back then and they were only open a few days a week. Now they have expanded a lot and offer way more options. We tried the Milo cupcake, Mini Upside Down Halo Halo, and Mini Mais Con Yelo. All were tasty. I normally skip the halo halo because I do not like beans, but their version uses assorted jellies and boba, and the cornflakes add a nice crunch. It was actually really enjoyable. Definitely planning to come back and check out more of their drinks next time.
This cafe is ube galore! The upside down halo halo ($10.95) is my go to item. I really like how they don't use beans in their halo halo! Also tried the ube pop tart ($5.95), and it was pretty good as well! Kind of hidden, but very cute cafe vibes with couches. Great for studying or chatting it up with friends.

I remember the first time I went to Cafe 86 was in Old Pas years ago (in the alley by Burke Williams). I was happy to discover that they have opened one close to home in W. Covina! Great for all things ube, they have a plethora of Ube flavored drinks and sweets. They even have a new drink called Matcha Pandan - extra green (if matcha isn't green enough) for all those who want something to drink while wearing their quarter zips. I got a house milk tea, Milo milk tea and Mais con Yelo bar. All were great, although the Milo milk tea was not dissolved and still very powdery so I was getting chunks of Milo powder in every sip. Not sure if that was intentional? Staff is friendly, interior is cozy and relaxing and a would be good to hang out/study in. Enjoy!
Wonderful customer service. Staff were very helpful and gave great recommendations. Their coffee milk tea was a hit, you get the full milk tea flavor and a subtle hint of cold brew. They also have some delightful tasting pastries. The Ube cookie & turioun pop tart had a lot of flavor. The cafe is a great place to also sit, sip and chat.
My friend and I were in town for a conference and she was craving halo halo. This place has an amazing Ube halo halo that is delicious! The ambiance is cozy and has a nice chill vibe!
Place is clean and very open! They have wifi so perfect for studying. I didn't check if they have outlets, but there's plenty of seating. The Thai tea is solid! They give you a big size and it's very flavorful. The halo halo mini size was still very filling. There were still some chunks of ice so it could have been blended better. I like the variety of toppings, but I would probably try other things on the menu before going back to the halo halo. You can order on the kiosk or with the cashier. Service was good! They kindly answered many of my questions.
We came, we saw, we got milk tea. Loved my experience at this cafe 86 location. We came and got the deal at the time. I got a taro and my partner got a milk tea. They are always running specials. The manager served us and she was so kind to walk us through the menu. This is definitely a chill cafe spot with indoor and outdoor seating and has parking in the garage. It's not upscale by any means but it's a pleasant ambient vibe. You should definitely check it out.

Our visit was on a Monday after lunch and the place wasn't packed. We soon got our orders. The churrochi was overly sweet for me. The halo-halo bread pudding was mish-mash of flavors that I am still trying to decide if I like or not. There are many seating options with two nooks that looked cozy. The work station was clean and visible to the customers.
My first time at a Cafe 86 and especially in West Covina which is 45 miles from home. Cafe 86 hosted a Pop Up event for National Dog Day. I got a hibiscus calamansi. It was perfect! Not too sweet not too tart but just right. I got to meet the owner Grace when she wasn't running around doing everything. So sweet and friendly. My friend's booth was inside the cafe. That's the only reason why I went. It was HOT outside. With my foldable fan it wasn't helping. Just putting hot stale air in my face. Grace lent the outside vendor's fan/misters. What an absolute angel. Talking to a couple of the vendors it was a life saver. The Cafe was kept clean and orderly. I would love to go back and support a Boss Lady like Grace, it's just really far for me. Even the employees still hang out there on their day off. That says volumes! Also it was pointed out to me (because I don't know) the Cafe are Marvel and Star Wars fans. Go check it out if you are too! read more

A friendly young cashier (looked under 21!) who was incredibly respectful, professional, and genuinely kind. It's refreshing to see that level of customer service these days! We tried the grilled cheese with chips, and everything tasted so fresh. The cheese pull was AMAZING! The mango smoothie had a slight hint of durian to me, but the mango flavor still really popped! The Peach Jasmine Tea was delicious, and the Hibiscus Cooler was phenomenal--not overly sweet, which is exactly what I look for. Great job! We'll definitely be back! read more

Stopped by Cafe 86 to satisfy my matcha craving and tried the Ube Matcha that Meli recommended. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was delicious! It's on the sweeter side, but the flavors are well balanced. I also grabbed a slice of their Ube cake for later. The shop was clean and quiet, with a steady flow of customers while I was there. Friendly service, a unique drink menu, and a great first impression. I'll definitely be back to try more of their drinks! read more

Best thing about this place, is probably their prices. It's very reasonable. Very spacious. And great parking options. We didn't get to try the food, but we did order the coffee and the Taro drink. 8/10. I was a little turn off by the color of my drink, but it's not going to scare me away to give them another chance. This newly opened Cafe 86 can be found in West Covina, right by The Colony at Lake Apartments. Street parking is available (there is also a parking structure with a sign about validation but did not inquire closer). For their special July 4th deal, Cafe 86 was selling all of their tea drinks for only $2 each (prior to tax). I decided to take advantage of this deal and ordered online: Tiger Tea Hibiscus Calamansi Tea Ube Milk Tea The Rosie Ube Butter Bars- Very, very sweet. The flavor of ube does shine through. I do like the shortbread that the ube is on. Mais Con Yelo Bar- This is also very sweet and is similar to corn bread, but a lot sweeter. Ube Leche Flan Cupcake- Did not get a chance to try this. But I have had this in the past from one of their other locations and always thought it was sweet but liked the unique combination of flan and a cupcake. Ube Cashew Brownie- I like the added cashews but this is also very sweet. -------------------------- (Total= $33.40 after tax with $2 tea special, higher prices ordering online and service fee) I did not realize later on that I paid more than what the cost of these items are in store. If you order online, the price is a little higher per item and also I was charged a $0.50 service fee. Honestly that is greedy but I suppose that is the convenience of ordering online. All of the drinks I ordered were really, really sweet. Even though I ordered them to be made with less ice and no sugar. I had to add more water to my Tiger Tea to dilute the sweetness (just for reference, I typically like to have my drinks between 25- 50% sweetness). The desserts I ordered just feels like someone just dropped an entire bag of sugar into the mix. Which I honestly don't recall these baked goods being so sweet before. I don't know if the recipe has changed or if this particular location has just decided to add significantly more sweetener/ sugar to their desserts... But Filipinos sure do love their sweets (please note that although I am not Filipino, I did grow up eating a lot of Filipino food because I had a Filipino nanny growing up). Service was friendly but had to wait to pick up my items, as this eatery was slammed with customers (for $2 tea, you know people will come in droves and order more than 1 drink, just like I did). I don't know if I would come back. I am a little disappointed with how sweet everything is (as I don't recall their desserts being this sweet from previous visits to their location in Chino Hills and Pasadena.... which that location has been closed for years now). I am also disappointed on the higher price online and the service fee that I was not made aware of. But my review shouldn't upset you, because then it would mean one less person to wait behind in line the next time you come here (because you have learned from my mistake and you'll order in person to save a little extra money). read more
This is my first time trying Filipino style desserts. So let's see if they're pretty good eh or ew. The workers here were super nice and I go thier maiz con yelo halo halo, matcha pandan, churrochi, maiz con yelo bar, turon poptart, ube crinckle cookie, ans ube truffle to try. The maiz con yelo halo halo was perfectly sweet, refreshing, and had good corny flaves. Kinda reminded me of the corn bingsu I had but with more elements like the flan and ice cream that made it more decadent. The matcha pandan had good matchay flaves, was milky, not too sweet, and slightly coco nutty? I think that was from the pandan. The churrochi had a lightly crisp sugary exterior with a fun chewy interior, was drizzled with plenty of caramel and paired really well with the vanilla ice cream that came wiTh it. The maiz con yelo bar was super dense like cheesecake, had a thick lowkey bland crust, and was kinda one note. It did have decently light corn flaves tho. The turon poptart had like a banana paste and jack fruit filling and was pretty dry. The ube crinkle cookie and truffles tho. MNM. Both had Plenty of those nutty ubey earthy vanillay notes. The cookie was perfectly buttery, thick and not dry or crumbly and the truffle was like an ube fundgey brownie ball coated in Oreos. There were some hits and misses but Overall this place is lowkey pretty good. So far I have been to three locations of Cafe 86. I didn't realize there were quite so many branches of it but I am not complaining. I stop by this shop over the weekend. They were offering a complimentary cup of their pandan matcha seasonal drink. I thought the cafe itself is very cozy and somewhere I wouldn't mind sitting in for a while. They have an ordering screen in the shop. I found the service to be extremely friendly and polite. I noticed they made the drink with a lot of care. It was not rushed at all. I really appreciate the restraint with sweetness. I could really taste the flavors and the iced matcha was extremely refreshing on a warm day. I am already a big fan of their halo halo. It is very decadent but is an occasional treat for me on a hot day. read more

I ordered a single halo halo and some girl named Jenny stole my drink. I was waiting at the pick up area for 20 minutes and the only one Halo halo I saw was put on top of 'Jenny'. There is no way you don't realize you took a wrong drink because all the drinks weren't packed. Anyway, after 20 minutes while other people's order was made as I could see from the timestamps, I raised my concern to the staff. She gave me an extra fruit tea and a cookie so I was less pissed. read more
Cafe 86 in West Covina. Let's Gooo!! This location is truly nice and clean with an abundance of seating, sofa chairs and tables to hang out and just chill. The only other location I've visited is in Chino Hills. Now they are now here in the city of West Covina is awesome! There is an adjacent parking garage with 1 and 2 hour parking spots which is a huge plus. Other than that there is street parking in front of the entrance as well. I came by here right around opening and it wasn't too packed at all. The staff here were welcoming and super nice. You can order on the kiosk or order with the staff at the cashier. I ended up getting an Ube Milk Tea with oat milk and decided to try a Ube Pop Tart. The Ube Milk Tea and the Ube Pop Tart were 10/10! Wow! It's been years since my last visit to a Cafe 86 (in another city), so when I was craving Halo Halo, I was happy to find a closer spot in West Covina. I got their upside down halo halo ($10.50), halo halo bread pudding with ube ice cream ($5.95), ube pop tart ($5.50) and ube crinkle ($4.25). You can't go wrong with any of their ube sweets! If you are a fan of halo halo (which they do have!) and love ube a lot, the upside down halo halo is for you! The entire drink is flipped upside down, so while it still has the usual toppings of jelly, boba, flan, etc., the entire drink is ube based and topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and some cornflakes. If you like your ube ice cream more subtle, the regular halo halo is all that. There's retail parking in the structure right next to Cafe 86, so that was nice and pretty easy. A good amount of seating inside and outside. Super friendly service from all employees (shout out to owner Grace -- nice name! hehe). I am bummed that they close at 9 pm Sun - Thurs, as I'm in the area a couple of Monday evenings each month for a meeting and wanted to grab Cafe 86 afterwards, but they're closed. Maybe I need to stop by for a halo halo before my Monday meeting starts! read more

I went to my dentist. She recommended me this place. She knows my love for Filipino food, but my ultimate love for halo halo!! I got the upside down halo halo. I don't know the difference between the classic one and upside down, except for the ice cream? But it was ridiculously delicious! The best part for me is the corn flakes!! I also saw the mais con yelo, which will be my next pick when I visit the dentist again. The other item is the Ube leche flan cupcake. I haven't tried it yet. That's for tomorrow! Located in the colony apartments, this place is great for a quick boba drink or a snack. They have decent seating inside, and I love the water station for anyone to get on their own. Service is friendly and helpful. I ordered on the kiosk for a blended ube drink and asked for the cup to be split in 2 so I could share it with another person. The lady asked me if that's what I meant before she made my drink so I appreciated that she looked for clarity before completing the request!! They have consistent drinks and I'd love to try more. One thing I really like about this place is that they always have consistent boba. Sometimes when I go to places, the boba is hit or miss with its chewiness, flavor, and being over/undercooked. However, here I've never had a problem with their boba consistency and it is the same every single time! read more

86 cafe is located within walking distance from Paris Baguette. The cafe is cozy. The staff greeted us once we arrived. They have self- ordered screen available. The menu includes milk shakes, milk teas, iced teas, Halo- Halo, slush, churrochi, espresso bar, blended Latte, baked goodies and sandwiches. We got the following; - Upside Down Halo Halo The Best Halo Halo I have ever had! It's Ube base Halo- Halo, topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, a square piece of flan. It is also garnished with corn flakes then the cup was full of delicious Coconut Jellies, Jack Fruit, and Boba. I really loved it! It was worth all the calories. - Milo Milk Tea It's milk tea with Milo. It had lack of balance between the Milo and the milk tea. I tasted the milk tea but not the Milo at all. If you are ube lovers, they have delicious assortment of Ube desserts. I loved all the desserts I tried Since I am a big fan of ube, I ordered the following; - Ube pop tart It was crispy from outside but then the ube filling added richness and creamy taste to the pop tart - Ube Leche Flan Since I love the ube , I like the ube cake more than the flan. The cake was moist and rich. The flan was okay. - Ube Truffles It was moist, fluffy and rich The place had nice lighting which gave welcoming vibes. The seating were very comfortable. Finally, a cafe 86 in West Co. back in the day I used to drive all the way to Chino Hills hahaha as usual, I got the Ube Flan cupcake, which is always moist, and tried a new slush! The place is clean and spacious, parking was fairly easy to find, and customer service was great! Will come back again read more
Recently tried Cafe 86 to get a few things done and it was really chill. The staff is friendly and helpful- I ended up trying an ube spiced latte and their ube brownie. The brownie was maybe a 3/5, good but I've had better. The latte really won me over, though. The spices meld really well with the ube flavor. I've had ube my whole life and find that lots of places are making flavored lattes with it now, but can't quite get the flavor accurate. This one was really good. I don't know if they're still serving this particular flavor, but regardless, I would absolutely come back here. read more
Welcome to West Covina, Cafe 86!! I remember the moment. While driving home, my eyes caught a glimpse of the "Coming Soon" sign, I immediately slammed the brakes. I sprinted over and snapped that photo. "YESS!!!" I screamed! Cafe 86 is famous for their Ube beverages and treats. My family is Filipino, and we adore their high-quality, tasteful ube. It's common for me to drive 30+ minutes to the Cafe 86's Chino Hills location just to re-experience the absolute joy that shook me. Now, this Cafe 86 is next door! YESSS!! And I can happily declare that the West Covina's location is comparable (and arguably better). The high-quality treats remain; the staff is friendly; and the location is large and cozy for studying and working. I ordered my favorite treat (Upside Down Halo Halo - Large - $10.50). It's simply luxurious. The ube had a strong depth and lasting, soothing flavor. In my opinion, the mixture of the ice cream and the bouncy, squishy add-ons create an extra oomph of lovable sweetness that raises it above their Cafe 86's famous Ube Monster beverage. However, the Ube Monster is a strong second favorite, and I have family members that strongly crave that drink as well. [Quick Note: Cafe 86 - West Covina currently has a special Check-In Promotion.
