Directed to this little gem by a gentleman working in Downtown Crossing. Immediately approached and seated by a server who knows what good service is. It was lunchtime but we'd skipped breakfast so we ordered drinks and omelets. Didn't have to wait long for either. My wife and I stopped by for some breakfast before leaving Boston. We love trying new places and rely heavily on Yelp for recommendations. The waiter was very helpful and the service was great. I had the shakshuka. I had never heard of it but the waiter recommended it. It's basically a mediterranean breakfast skillet. Instead of an American style skillet with gravy and potatoes, this one was much lighter with a really great tomato sauce. It was still filling, just not too heavy. The cafe is small, bright colors, and has several options for sandwiches and crepes (both savory and sweet). My husband and I chose the Mediterranean chicken crepe and chips. We also bought a Kinder chocolate bar for $2 to take to the theater. After ordering at the counter, we sat at a small table and only waited a few minutes for our crepe. Wow, we were glad we shared! There wasn't anything about this place that really made me think twice about coming here again. It's a fairly nice, casual little spot that serves a mix of cool things you could pick up as a snack or a meal. My friend and I got a nutella crepe and it tasted great! I also ordered a lemonade and it was just too sweet, definitely don't get it or request them to add much less sugar. I don't even think I finished the drink because it was simply THAT sweet. What I did enjoy was the amount of space they had. There's a front area for seating and then there's a back area that's much more secluded. Found this gem on yelp that's near our hotel. We got brunch here and it was amazing. Food was good and reasonably priced. I tried the shakshuka and I loved it. The tomato sauce is wasn't too dominating and there was a lot of bacons lol. Love the vibe of this place, the waiter was chill too. And we came back to get sandwiches (turkey avocado) to go for the bus trip and they were super good and very big portions . Although there was a fee if you're paying with card. I'm under-wowed. The cafe is very barebones and provides enough space for local workers, tourists, residents, etc. to sit down and enjoy a cup of coffee and baked good. I stopped in around 8:45 and there was only one customer ahead of me. I ordered a simple large coffee and a slice of their lemon poppy seed cake. The cake was really moist and you get a decent slice. The coffee was also decent but because it was in a sh*t paper cup, the lid did a poor job of doing its job of being a lid. As I walked down Tremont Street, the coffee was doing a splendid job of being a cheap waterfall. The coffee trickled down ever so gently from the cup down to the side of my hands and onto my clothes. Joking aside, I literally began walking down Tremont Street with my hand sticking out so far from my body that people began to think that I was another homeless person trying to get some spare change from the morning commuters. The cafe seemed to offer some delicious baked goods including a carrot bomb and baklava. This place was average, but not somewhere I'd return. I got a breakfast sandwich with 1 strip of bacon... they had no mustard which I think is absurd for a sandwich shop. Few things are as exciting to me as a new coffee shop. On my way to work I was pleasantly surprised to bump into Temple Place Cafe. I walked in and was greeted by one of the partners. I was delighted to find out that they make their own bakery items and from what I saw they have some great looking treats including ice cream and desserts. Nice little cafe but on this day the staff appeared very unorganized. We walked in and were motioned over to the counter and asked if we were dining in or taking out. We said we were dining in so the gentleman escorted us to a table and then brought us waters and menus. After a few short minutes he returned to take our order and then bring our food. My wife ordered a smoothie and it was delicious. I ordered a western omelet which came with a piece of toast, hash brown, and fresh berries and melon. The meal was great and tasted fresh made. While we were eating a man in sweats came in and took some pastries to go . He seemed to be a owner or manager, as he was going around taking menus off the tables and discussing them with another employee. We didn't think much of it until we set there for maybe 20 minutes without the waiter checking on us or bringing our check. I could see him behind the counter and at this point he was cooking. This became very frustrating as we were short on time. Finally, I got up, went to the counter and inquired about paying. A nice guy at the register immediately apologized for the wait (which indicated to me that the staff knew we were just sitting there the whole time). He then said in broken English that he wasn't sure why the other guy served us at the table, because the boss just said no more table service. It was all very odd. If the cafe doesn't want to offer table service, then don't. But don't leave your guests confused and abandoned in the middle of a policy dispute between employees. Highly unprofessional. My score of 3 stars is based on the fact that the food was great, and the first half of the experience was pleasant. Had an espresso shot and my girlfriend ordered a chai latte(more like warm milk with a hint of chai flavoring, did they just warm milk and put a dab of "chai powder"?). Very close to everything. Ordered a shakshuka w/ bacon and it was good, Mediterranean breakfast with tons of flavor. We also order a lox cream cheese crepe thinking it would be good since it's amazing on a bagel. Not so much, it's not bad but it's not good. If I'm back in the area again, I would try another place before venturing here. I've only been here twice but I can already tell I'm going to be a regular. I love cafes and am glad to have stumbled upon this place. It's relatively small but has enough seating and isn't too crowded. The first time I came we tried the saudi arabian coffee, which reminds me of a chai latte. It was very good. I also got the turkey avocado panini but with grilled chicken. Love the avocado spread and it was overall pretty good. Some parts of the chicken were burnt but the flavor was good so I didn't mind. I've also tried the cookies and cream cheesecake which is also pretty good but not mind blowing. They also have ice cream, waffles, and assorted other sandwiches and pastries. I like the options they have and the food is decent. It's worth checking out if you're looking for a nice casual place to chat with friends but don't want to go to a full out restaurant. read more

Hidden gem. I found this place because of Meal Pass. They had a Triple Melt sandwich loaded with meat and flavor. They've got a chicken & pepper sandwich. They have crepes and omelets. And their chocolate cake is uh-mahzing. When I'm done with my MealPass, I'll be going there to try all the things on the menu. The guys there know most of their customers by name and order. There's not tons of seating in there, but there's usually always a place to sit. A lot of people that go in there are going to grab and go for lunch. We ordered for pick-up on a Sunday morning. We were given a wait time of 55-65 minutes, which seemed like a long time. After about 45 minutes, we went to check on our food. It was ready, and clearly had been for sometime. Unfortunately, the Yelp/GrubHub app still had it listed as though nothing was made yet. Of course this led to our breakfast sandwiches being a little soggy and not quite warm. My daughter's cheese omelet, hashbrown, and toast were all cold. My husband ordered a coffee. They filled it up fresh as we grabbed our food. However, after about 5 minutes, he simply rubbed his fingers along the bottom of the cup and the entire bottom fell off. :( We had breakfast sandwiches several times while we were in the city. This was my first time at this unassuming looking cafe but once I entered, I was greeted by the friendly workers and given a menu to peruse. I was impressed by the variety and amount of options offered. Breakfast was served all day and they had baked goods, sweet or savory crepes, sandwiches, smoothies, and even ice-cream. I had the triple melt sandwich which was full of flavor, and a cinnamon bun which came out of the oven warm, fresh, and soft. They have free wi-fi and the whole time I was here on Labor Day, it was pretty quiet and peaceful. It's a pretty good place to chill or get work done if you're not too concerned about having a frivolous and fancy atmosphere. read more
