I was excited about trying this Cafe after the reading the wonderful reviews. I got a Cajun bowl and was overall disappointed. To be clear, it wasn't bad! It came with salmon and shrimp over rice, well seasoned. However, the salmon and shrimp were both over cooked, the sauce wasn't that tasty, and the food was extremely expensive! Ran me ~$30!! It's not bad food, but definitely not worth the price. Otherwise, It's in an interesting location that doesn't have great parking, but very walkable. The people inside were normal to interact with. I stopped by this place for dinner during the week as I haven't seen it before. I was originally going to get the black bean burger but they were out so I opted for the portobello cheesesteak instead. The cheesesteak was delicious, with fresh veggies and a nice tangy sauce inside. None of the ingredients overpowered each other and it being a wrap was a nice touch. I had a side of sweet potato fries which were well seasoned, crispy and freshly fried. Overall it was an excellent meal with good options for vegetarians. I had heard great things of the black-owned spot and decided to give it a try last week when I was in the mood for a wrap. The jerk chicken cheesesteak wrap w/ the garlic fries was pretty good, but they were skimp on the fries. I got the bang bang shrimp tacos for my wife m, which left a lot to be desired. The shrimp were a good size but they looked plain dry, the taste was subpar and there was not enough bang bang sauce on them. Regardless of our disappointment with the tacos, I still want to try a couple other menu items, so I plan on ordering from them again in the future. read more

Great little spot by MICA and UB. Food is phenomenal! Everything tastes fresh and flavorful. I've had the salmon salad, the jerk wrap, and I think it's a chicken bowl but I can't remember the name. All were great but the jerk wrap is my fav ! I highly recommend it. I had this apple berry drink that was also good and pretty refreshing. Oh and the wrap comes with fries- the fries are bomb! I recently joined a Facebook group that promoted black businesses and ran across a post promoting the business. Long story short; I found out the restaurant was a few blocks away from my neighborhood and decided to check them out for lunch. I had a fried shrimp wrap w/ a side of garlic fries. This might be my new go-to spot in Mount Vernon - it is that good!! The portions are sizable and the flavors of everything I've gotten so far have been on point. Each portion comes with a side of their garlic herb fries, which definitely makes for a hefty portion. Their shrimp & fish burger is probably one of the best fish burgers I've ever had - well-flavored and extremely juicy. First time and last time. I visited this establishment on 12/5/20 and the food was just okay. I may have given them another chance if the customer service wasn't so bad. I placed my order and returned 15 minutes later to pick it up. I walked in and waited at the counter for nearly 10 minutes before being acknowledged. The cashier, the cook, and a guy working in the back came out and said nothing. Mind you I was the only customer there. Just as I was about to say something, the cashier grabs my order. Okay, so I went here twice. They don't greet you when you come in. In fact, saying a simple hi or thank you barely gets acknowledged. Either you want people to support your business or discontinue to support your business. Other than that the seafood salad wrap is good (shrimp and imitation crab meat). I finally made it to Cafe 1908 after passing by often when visiting OK Natural next door. I ordered the old bay wings with garlic herb fries for myself and got the bang bang shrimp wrap for my husband. I called in my order and was told 15 minutes and it was ready moments after I arrived early. It's such a quaint spot with about 3 chairs if you'd like to enjoy your food there. The wings were cooked to perfection but could've used a little more old bay and the fries were crispy and perfect just how I like them but could've used a little less seasoning. Of course I had a bite of my husbands wrap and while it was stuffed it was missing more sauce. I can only imagine how much better it would've tasted with about 2 1/2 more spoonfuls of sauce. My wife and I always want to try something and my wife had bumped in to this place and it looked delicious. I had ordered the shrimp and salmon burger and it was AWESOME! The shrimp was plump, the salmon had the right amount of flavor, and the sauce does make a difference, I enjoyed every bite. My wife had the bang bang shrimp wrap and it was the same result for her, she had large pieces of shrimp and she had enough to have a piece every bite. The fries were seasoned with garlic and herbs and I definitely got a great taste, however my wife said that she had a hard time tasting it, so consistency was a minor issue. Another minor issue is the menu, its buried in their Facebook page, which seems to focus on its catering company and I had to go to Grubhub to get a better idea as to what they have to offer. It looks like this place is new and are working the kinks, but it is absolutely delicious and I can't wait for more. read more

OH HECK YEAH! Ordered the 1908 Cheese Steak , and asked if they'd add a little hear to it. Perfect! And the fries? Seasoned well, definitely a hit. My wife had the Chopped Turkey Burger and it was so big she could not eat it all. Nothing wrong with leftovers for lunch tomorrow! I had a taste for a wrap and Cafe 1908 hit the spot. My wife had the jerk chicken bowl, I had the jerk chicken wrap, and my friend had the Turkey burger. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The service was also very nice. If you're in the Baltimore area I recommend you give them a try. read more
