The ambience is warm and inviting (the seats are literally warmed up so you're nice and toasty inside.) I was so excited to try Cachitos, especially because of their infamous paella. My boyfriend and I ordered the seafood paella, ham iberico on toast, crab and pineapple on toast, and foie with fig jam on toast. Verdict: -Ham iberico: tasty! Texture is very much like that of prosciutto. The toast is also lightly brushed with a tangy tomato sauce. -Crab and pineapple: delicious. Mixed in a creamy mayo-like sauce that complimented the crunchy toast. -Foie with fig jam: strangely light and refreshing. Texture was like butter, but was overpowered by the sweetness of the fig jam. Weirdly enough, extremely salty between bites. -Paella: absolutely delicious. The rice was cooked just right, and seasoned well. However, I was extremely disappointed with the skimpy amount and variety of seafood. About 1/5 of the paella was actually seafood, which to Cachitos means a few pieces of shrimp and fish here and there. They didn't even include mussels or clams. Are you kidding me? All the previous comments regarding the tapas are probably all correct. Me myself and my company ordered the pasta linguine with truffles. For a pasta that cost us 25 Euro (~30 USD), we expected much more. The pasta linguine was just that, nothing else. Besides the 4 gram (~0.14oz) of truffles. As you all can imagine, we didn't get close to feed up. (For the transparency, we spent the whole day on the beach, and didn't eat that much during the day.) Please, do NOT order the pasta. Although I had read all the mixed reviews on Yelp, we decided to give this restaurant a shot on a Sunday night. We got seated right away, on the second floor of this three story restaurant. It had a weird, almost confusing atmosphere. There were velvety, red couches and chairs on the second level. The music was different- it played 50 cent, Neyo, and Spanish music. We were a bit confused.. Were we at a club or a restaurant??? We got the seafood paella and two oyster tapas. Turn offs: 1. Over priced food. One oyster cost us 3.50 euros?! The seafood paella was 18.50 per person. 2. Paella was too salty!!! It had an ugly brown tinged color, not the bright orange saffron color I was expecting. 3. "Seafood" paella came with TWO clams, and four large shrimps. That was very disappointing as when I think of seafood, I don't think of only two clams. There were chopped up pieces of octopus and maybeeeeee a 3 or 4 pieces of fish- which didn't compensate for anything... Sprinkle the rice with some Tabasco, this kind of levels off the saltiness of the dish. 4. Raw oysters didn't come with any lemon, we asked for Tabasco to block off any fishy taste. My favorite dish I had in Barcelona was at this restaurant. Get the zucchini tagliatelle with cuttlefish and shrimp. It is all zucchini (no pasta) and is incredibly tasty. Only complaint is that the shrimp were not cleaned so that I don't have to eat their poop. When we told the waiter, he said that's how they eat shrimp in Spain, with poop and all. Those Spaniards are round around the edges! You also have to get the cava sangria. We came here 3 nights out of the 7 nights we were in Barcelona. (So my family is a bit obsessive). The staff at our hotel recommended Cachitos for tapas. Being American, we thought going at noon would be perfect time for lunch. However, according to Spanish time, noon time was still breakfast time and lunch service didn't start until 1pm, so we had breakfast here. We simply had some eggs and ham, and it came with the popular Spanish tomato bread. We also ordered churros con chocolate which was amazing! We tried this dessert at another place and it did not compare to this one. The churros were so crispy and the hot chocolate was the perfect complement. We came back that night for dinner because we wanted to try their tapas. We were seated outside and ordered paella and garlic shrimp. The garlic shrimp was good but the paella was exceptional. The decor and the uniform made the restaurant seem a lot fancier and uptight than it really was. We started off with an array of tapas. The white asparagus was so tender and juicy, the garlic shrimp was nice and garlicky, the cheese croquettes were flavourful and soft, and the fried squid was tender, juicy, and not overly greasy. Wow! What a gem! Waking down the street from Avenida Diagonal on Ramblas de Catalunya you will find a small sign in your right hand side. Let's see what inside. A lot of tapas places are very busy on a Friday night and it may be difficult to get a spot without reservation. Although we did not have any reservation we were seated on the second floor in a very nice atmosphere of hanging chandeliers and green garden all around. The menu will satisfy any taste, from montaditos and tapas to entrees. The wine list is also spectacular. To start we had a mini burger and fois micuit caramelized (what a great taste of fois on a crunchy piece of toast) As appetizer we had: Artichoke hearts - who loves artichoke should know that it is pretty hard to make it tender if you grill it, well, here I give my 5 stars to the tender taste and texture Fois and truffle canneloni - omg! It was nothing impressive unfortunately. The interior was "old-school" but it was not ugly by any standards :). The food on the other hand was a bit surprising. Having eaten seafood paella in france we expected it to have clams, prawns etc but in reality it had about 4 small prawns in it and the rest of it was sausage pieces (in a paella??). Had the chicken and cheese croquettes as well. Chicken ones were good but cheese ones were made with mozzarella which is not my personal preference. But for some people it will be delicious! We also had maccaroni with parmegiani and iberian meat. The whole thing was just a stand of boiled maccaroni, little cheese on top and boiled small pieces of meat. For drinks had Cava Sangria which was very nice. Overall i would not recomment going here for paellas if you want to have the spanish experience. On our recent visit to Barcelona, we stumbled upon Cachitos one afternoon to grab a quick bite and were so impressed! It had a lovely outdoor seating area and everything our table ordered was delicious! We ended up making a point to visit the restaurant two more times with the rest of our group during our week in Barcelona. Over our two week visit to Spain we fell in love with gazpacho, and after eating it almost every day for those two weeks, Cachitos gazpacho is the clear winner. The perfect balance of tomato, cucumber and pepper, with a heavenly floral olive oil. It was garnished with crunchy, peppers, cucumber, onion and croutons. I will continue to dream about it until I return! We sampled many other tapas and dishes as well, each delicious. We loved the monkfish fingers, and the berry cheesecake for dessert was fantastic! We also really enjoyed the paella which was a rich and caramelized version of what we had had at other restaurants. Truly a 5 star experience for our two week trip to Spain! This place was very swanky. I liked the vibe and was met with a kind hostess. Personally, I think everyone in Barcelona is nice. We had a 10PM reservation (yes, late, but that seems to be the time everyone has dinner). Our table wasn't ready yet, but we were able to sit by the bar and enjoy sangrias while we waited. The red and white sangrias are a must have. You won't regret either decision. For dinner, we had some tapas (definitely get the the potatoes bravas - you can make it vegan by having the aioli on the side if there's a mix crowd). The paella is a must have. We got the vegetable and the seafood paellas since there was a group of us and we wanted to get a taste of everything. Overall, the food was great and reasonably priced leaving my friends and I very satisfied. A friend of my brother-in-law recommended we come here and it was really nice! Both inside and outside seating is available, though inside has a far moodier atmosphere. We started with cava, patatas bravas (they put the aioli and paprika sauces on the side, so I could dip into the paprika), and bread with tomato, my favorite Spanish vegan tapas. They had a vegetarian paella which was really delicious, though I did forget to confirm whether or not they used vegetable stock. Rookie move, I know. It's definitely worth inquiring about, though! When we went, it was truffle season and they had an entire menu dedicated to truffles. Normally, dishes like these would run you about $75-100 in the US, but here they were only about $35-45! I didn't indulge, since I wasn't paying for the meal and it's still pricey, but next time I'm in Europe during truffle season, I definitely gotta get on that. read more

I've been to Barcelona 4 times and been to Cachitos 3 times. It's a great place for a casual meal and it's typically not bursting at the seams w/ people, which makes it relatively easy to get a table. The place is really cool. Right when you walk in you see bars of fresh tapas. You can then go upward to the restaurant or downstairs into a really cool lounge area that is set up with music at night. You've also got an outdoor seating area on the boulevard out front when weather is nice. I think it would be great to have a meal here and then go down to the lounge for drinks. Very chic. The food is pretty good. It's not the best I've had, but it's better than decent. I'd recommend sticking with the small plates and the lighter fare featuring delicious items on crusty bread. Pan Tomate is always a good choice. I'd avoid the Paella. And one would be foolish to leave this place w/o trying one of their 55 sangrias with a multitude of fruit options. They've got everything you could imagine and then some. If you're walking down Rambla Catalunya and trying to figure out which of those tents isn't just another tourist trap, I'd say Cachitos is your best bet! read more

The most annoying thing about this restaurant is that the servers are SO SLOW. She suggested the the sangria which was AMAZING, the best I've had in Spain and the fresh catch of the day, a white fish prepared with grilled vegetables and potatoes on the side. We also got a starter of bread with tomatoes. The main dish was pretty pricey ($30 per person) but worth it, as the fish was very tender and the vegetables were grilled to perfection. The waitress also conveniently skinned most of the meat right before serving in front of us so we wouldn't have to deal with all the bones.
