Look, I like burrito assembly line lunch places as much as the next guy. But this is in a whole other class I regularly drive from my place of work in Westlake Hills and from my home in South Austin to eat here - both around 7 miles away. The tortillas, meats, fish, vegetables, and salsas are all superior to any of their competitors. And yes, the fountain drinks and bottled sodas are the cane sugar variety. My only complaints: 1) There is not one close to my home or work and, 2) They are not open Sundays. read more

Cabo Bob's Burritos - Tacos Near Me - Austin, Texas

I'm lucky in that I get sent to Austin for work now and then. When in town, I always stay near the airport as my office is in that area. The very first time I visited Austin, I got off the plane starving but looking for something local. My search brought me to Cabo Bob's. I have visited every time that I've gone to Austin since then. Here is what keeps me coming back: 1) It is very easy and quick to get to from my hotel. 2) The food is AMAZING. The past two times I was here I got pork tacos and this time I went for a pork bowl - always so good. 3) You can spice it up as much as you'd like. I love spicy stuff so I always cover my food in the squirt bottles of their own special hot sauce that they have. They also have a great green salsa and fresh jalapenos. 4) There are a ton of options. There are several different types of meats, tortillas, veggies, and even beans to choose from. You could come here every day and not get bored with what you ordered. 5) For the amount of food you get, really well priced. As you can tell, I am a huge fan. I'm excited to come back to Austin in October and December to try something else on their menu! read more

Cabo Bob's Burritos - Pulled pork bowl. Yes...it may just look like lettuce but there are several hidden treasures in there. - Tacos Near Me - Austin, Texas

Got a fish bowl and a beef bowl to go. Around $7-$8 each, good amount ! Similar concepts as Chipotle, you pick your meet, vege and as many toppings as you want. And the freshness of the food here is better in my opinion. The red hot sauce have a strong smoky BBQ favor. Tons of parking. read more

These are (were?) the best burritos in town but their quality control has been getting worse with each visit. This is my 3rd or 4th straight curbside order that has been wrong. They forgot all vegetables and sauces in my burrito and excluded everything I asked for on the side as well. (The receipt taped to my bag clearly shows what I asked for on the side.) To top it all off, their online ordering portal is one of the worst I've seen. This is the last time I order curbside at Cabo Bob's. read more

This was a great stop for dinner on a road trip. I've not been to place like this that does fish in their burritos or tacos, so this was a welcome change. You get 4 different types of tortillas, though I don't think they have any corn options. They are all very tasty though. You can pick your choice of meats along with all the sides and toppings you want. I ended up with a pretty monstrous burrito that filled me up. If you order tacos, you get 3 of them in pretty big portions as well. Their choice of sides is decent and they have lots of sauces to choose from. I'm not sure exactly why, but we were comped some chips and queso and also managed to get a few extra tortillas to try out. The place works quickly, are friendly, and relatively inexpensive for what you get. Even though the fish was decent, next time, I'd try some other options just to see how they turn out. read more

I really enjoy coming here when I do. My experience everytime has been awesome everytime I come to eat. The staff is very friendly and work as a team to ensure they can get the customer served pretty quickly because as I mentioned in my previous update, it gets busy here during lunch time on the week days. Today it was pretty busy earlier than usual. As the line kind of started to back up I noticed the employee preparing the tortillas help the staff who was putting the ingrediants you wanted in your meal while they were getting more food from the kitchen. That I admired for the team work they presented. They ensured your meal was filled correctly. I like to order the bowls here but I have had a lot of other things on the menu. Like I said before this place is way better than Chipotle and Freebirds! The food tastes fresh everytime I have come here! Keep up the great work Cabo Bobs Burritos!! read more

I am trying to get over my crushed expectations in order to provide an objective review of my visit to Cabos Bob's. I had high hopes for some authentic fish tacos and with such high praise on Yelp, I decided to make a run. You can imagine my disappointment as I pulled into a newer shopping mall and found Cabos Bobs sitting behind a Starbucks - this is just your regular, run-of-the-mill Americanized and corporatized Mexican food. Now - if that is what you are in the mood for - I don't want to discourage you from giving Bob a try. I had a solid experience from the moment I walked in. The seating area was clean, the workers friendly and helpful. The hot food was hot and the cold food was cold. I ordered the taco trio and got to work trying to sample as much of the menu as I possibly could in one basket. You have a choice of four soft shells - I chose the three flavored ones. There is a choice of chicken, fish, beef, pork, and steak - I chose fish, beef, and pork. All of the usual toppings round out the offerings. All of the food was well-prepared if just a bit bland for what I was expecting. An unexpected highlight of the trip was the cane sugar sodas that are available on the fountain - strong, vibrant flavors like ginger ale, root beer, vanilla crème, and cola. The cola was particularly amazing - give it a try and you will realize how bad Coke and Pepsi taste as they have become mere commodities trying to drive price out of their recipes. The Mint Sweet Tea was also unexpectedly good. You won't go wrong with Cabo Bob's, but it is also not an "experience" read more

After three years, John, the owner of Cabo Bob's, is still making a great product. I've tried pork, fish and beef in taco or burrito form. I've tried brown rice, white rice, black beans, pinto beans, grilled onion, grilled poblano, grilled squash and zucchini, queso, pico de gallo, mango salsa, cilantro tortilla, ancho tortilla, cheddar tortilla, flour tortilla... they are all just so good! I can't wait until he opens his North Austin location. read more

I had heard enough and had to try it out for myself .. and I am in love. One, any restaurant that not only sells Dublin Dr Pepper, but goes to the point of putting it in a fountain machine, is awesome! Thank you Cabo Bob!! The choices of tortilla flavors is really nice and that they make them right in front of you is great too. All the meat and ingredients are fresh and look great. The beef fajita meat - wow! I wish I could cook fajita meat like that at home. The flavor is great and so rich. Mmmm.. I got the three taco order and was more than pleasantly filled. Not too much, not too little, juuust right. The chipotle hot sauce was my only disapointment, was spicy hot, but almost like Tabasco and not like a spicy pepper sauce. But alas, Cabo Bob won me over. I definately will be back, and will try to always get tacos with my Dublin Dr Pepper. :9 read more

Hit up the Brisket & Queso burrito!! Ba-BAMM! The combination is a Slam dunk for the burrito world! But dont get too excited b/c the brisket isn't like Franklin's or La Barbeque.. What makes it Great is the sizeable portion of brisket, meat is tender not too fatty; more like slow cooked roast and the Queso isn't watered down nor makes a big mess...its Just the right consistency! They have lots of options besides just chicken or beef such as fish, pork, and a vegetarian option. Lunchtime gets a little packed but is a great place to go regardless!! read more

Just passing through Austin and decided to stop at Cabo Bob's for the first time! I ordered a fish burrito. The cilantro tomatillo tortilla was spot on. I love how they prepare your tortillas. I definitely prefer their tortillas over Chipotle/Freebird's. I would rate the overall burrito over Chipotle's though but not Freebird's, only because I felt like my burrito was lacking a bit of umph. I wouldn't mind coming back and trying it out again though. The entire restaurant had a good vibe to it and there are many options to choose from. read more

Probably the best fish burrito I have had in Austin. It definitely tasted like it is from scratch. First time trying their location and it will not be the last. read more

What you need to know - the food better than Freebird's. What you won't like - the people, atmosphere and overall "attitude" of Freebird's is missing. You start by selecting a tortilla flavor - seconds later a ball of raw dough is placed on some sort of flattening device and your raw tortilla is placed on a rotating hot plate. A couple rotations and a flip and you're ready to fill it with smoked goodness. Smoked? Yes! If you look back in the kitchen you'll find 2 'Big Green Eggs' - ceramic/kamado ovens that slow cook the meats and don't allow for any moisture or flavor to escape. The rest of the process should be familiar although it looks like they use a cilantro/lime rice a la Chipotle and offer an assortment of sauces at the end. To drink you'll find "Dublin" Dr. Pepper (made w/ cane sugar) on tap which is only one of a very solid assortment of self serve beverages. The little ignorable aggravation is that because of the large tortilla cooker, the rest of the line is a bit cramped and certainly doesn't flow as well as other burrito joints. read more

Ehhh... This place was just okay. I was going to go to Freebirds, but according to other yelpers, Cabo Bob's is so much better so I took their advice and came here. When I showed up just before noon, the line was super long, but the employees were very efficient. The line moved quickly. I was impressed to see that they make their tortillas in house and they press them when you order. I got a chicken burrito bowl. The ingredients were fresh but bland. The guacamole is just crushed avocados-no tomatoes, onions, cilantro or spices added. I love burritos and was excited to try something we don't have back home, but I think I'll stick with my tried and true Chipotle. read more

I'm out of town and decided I wanted a taco of sorts, so of course I checked Yelp first and found Cabo Bob's. The setup reminds me of Chipotle, in that you select your burrito, salad or bowl choice, and then decide what you want to load it with (with the options presented before you). This place is like a cross between Chipotle and Torchy's, however the food tastes more like Chipotle... If there's a connection, I'm not aware of it. The food wasn't great and wasn't bad, it was just ok. I was excited to check it out because the reviews were awesome. ...Meh. read more

Found this place on a whim when I had an hour to kill before meeting up with some friends. I grabbed a quick bite here and was pleasantly surprised. With the influx of Chipotle clones, Cabo Bobs stands out. The fresh tortillas is what sets them apart--ever so slightly crispy and delightful. I had the fried fish tacos. To be honest, the fish wasn't that great but as a whole taco unit thing, everything was great. Oh, do yourself a favor and try the hot sauce. It has a nice smokey flavor and a decent kick. read more

Plain and simple, this place is yummy! No need for a fancy review. Just go try this place. Rule of thumb: Go for anything with fish in it! I've had the fish tacos and a fish burrito. Both of them are pretty filling and taste pretty good. The Smokey Cheddar tortilla seemed pretty legit. Start off with some rice, beans, meat [or fish], non-meats and cheese.. then add some lime, hot-sauce and a coke and there you have it! A work of art! Bon Appetit! read more

This is my favorite burrito place of all time. They just do it right. Tortillas are prepared per order and they use a pool of "Big Green Egg" smokers to cook their meats. Superior taste / quality when compared to places like Freebirds, Chipotle, etc Excellent. *edit* Not only do they have the best burritos in town, but they have an unbelievable amount of respect for their customers. What is Cabo Bob's? Now I finally know. My co-worker recommended this place, quite a few times actually...and I never really believed him or ever gave this place a thought. Why? I have no idea, all taco suggestions should be welcomed with open arms and an open mind. Is it like a Chipotle/Qdoba/Freebird? Some would say the strategy is a little, yes. BUT THE FOOD ISN'T. Buttermilk flour tortilla - yummers! And that isn't your only option for tortilla. I've had the fish tacos and the chicken tacos. Both delicious. Tasty. Savory. Warm. Taco-licious. Generous serving, friendly service. The only thing I wish they had is corn but I can do without it. read more

Like Chipotle but better. Nice people too. Try the fish tacos, they're awesome. Nice find

Visiting Austin for one day and stumbled on this place on yelp. Very fresh food with freshly made tortillas of different variety in front of your eyes. Food is served in bowl or burrito, taco style with different fillings. Fish and chicken filling were really good. Fountain and bottle drinks. Lots of sittings and good parking space. I wrote a lengthy review, but then thought, why tell you what EVERYONE else told you? The food is great, tortillas are the bomb, everythings fresh, ect. GREAT burritos and excellent service by Angie and the rest of the friendly staff. I ordered the #4 fish burrito and the #2 deluxe fish tacos and it was HUGE. Wow, what a bad experience from a place my family and I loved, I ordered food to go for my family and I and when I get home with the food after a 30 min drive there and back i open the bag and the order is all wrong, my tacos made incorrectly, queso and chips missing, sauces not added, the tacos looked like some one stepped on them, and just the simple things, like putting orders in individual bags so you don't have to open every taco to see which is yours and which is your family's, after talking to a manager, she just said that if I wanted to drive there and back I can pick up the missing items, or she could refund the queso and chips, she really sounded careless and indifferent about the situation, the sad thing is that this wasn't my first messed up to go, I told the manager that, I'm trying to support local restaurants during this pandemic, but some make it really hard to do so. read more

I'm heaping another good review on the pile. Wife had three tacos and declared the Fish Tacos to be the best option of the three. I went with a surprisingly moist brisket burrito. Enjoyed every bite. Don't let the size fool you, it's about the same amount of food you get at Freebirds but it's not tightly packed and rolled like FB prefers to do. Fresh tortillas make this a really different choice over other fast casual burrito and taco places. I don't come to Austin often but I'd eat here again. read more

Similar to the likes of Chipotle and Freebird's, Cabo Bob's is a build your own burrito style restaurant. I found this location during a recent trip to Austin and am glad I did. While you can always build your own burrito, you can also choose from a menu of 5-6 burritos to choose from. I tried my burrito on a smoked cheddar tortilla and it was a perfect compliment to the rest of my meal. We also had chips and queso on the side of our burritos, which was delicious The atmosphere is very chill and a great place for a quick lunch or casual dinner. The staff making our burritos were all business - they hardly had time for niceties as it was lunch time and very busy on the day we went. Definitely going back to visit. read more
