Paul and Jay are the best! I have an older Volvo and so they checked and I needed to drive it. 50 miles, which I did. to reset the electronics/memory. I came back the next day and I was in and out within 20 minutes. They are very kind, fair and really want to help each and every car pass the smog. This used to be my go to for a smog test. Now they're ripping people off. They test your car and it fails and supposedly to be free retest but now it's an extra 15.00. He said I needed to drive more and wished me good luck on the retest. 3 days later I went down the street and passed $60.00 with everything. The first guy charges 59.00 just to test and fail you. Several cars there the day I was there and half failed. Not to be trusted anymore. The worse part was they gave me someone else's receipt and I couldn't get retested with wrong paperwork. I have a Nissan and I got Honda Accord paperwork. Stay clear and go down the street next to the Donut shop. read more

WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT GO HERE!! If you want your time wasted getting retested with no valid explanation as to why you fail other than "just keep driving it" and "I don't know" then this is the place. The "inspector" Mao is the rudest man you will ever meet in your life guaranteed. The first time he failed me, I asked why I failed and what can I do to fix it or pass a smog test because I thought a smog technician would definitely know. He simply said "it's in the paper" like a regular person that is not a mechanic or experience in these things would know what Visual Inspection failed, OBDII monitors not ready, oxygen sensor would know what to do but the second paper said driver it @65 mph for 30 mins for at least 3 cycles which I did. He still charged me $50. So the second time I returned, after 3 drive cycles for 30+ mins @65 mph he still failed me. When i said why did I fail again? He said I don't know, just read the paper. I asked if he fixes this problems in his shop and he said "No I can't do anything for you. I don't know who does." And I just stood there confused reading the paper because I know I take good care of my car. He then said "you can leave now, you can't do anything." And I said "Sir, please what can I do to get this fixed I've done what you told me to do in the paper." He said "Drive it some more.." "Don't be afraid to drive it.." Its easier said than done, I don't know if he knows that we live in California where the freeways are always congested and a gallon of gas is about $7.. This man is heartless i thought.. He then said "just go buy a reader from Amazon then take it here when its ready." I did but when i scanned it there was no problems. Then I decided to take about a week of long distance driving.. About 200-250 miles.. @65mph because he told me to stay @65mph. I even replaced my air filter cos i did some research online. So i thought for sure my car would be ready because i did everything that he told me to do to pass and by the books! Today after driving it for 30 mins again for the hundredth time in the freeway I took it to his shop again, Mao was sleeping, so I said hello sir quietly waking him, I'm not sure if I pissed him off due to this. And you guessed it. Still FAIL. He's aware I've been driving it and doing as I'm told by what I thought was a 5 star technician/inspector because that's the reason why i went to his shop in the first place. Because it was 5 star. Knowing I'll pass because I take really really good care of my car. And if I was to fail it. They would have an answer for me at least. I guess that's not the case because this time he said "change the oxygen sensor" and i said "oh ok will that fix my problem?" He said "I don't know, maybe." I then left frustrated because I feel helpless, I thought im doing something wrong and that my car needs to be replaced. I drove home upset because I don't know what else to do. Then when i was nearing home I remembered there is also a 5 star smog testing place nearby called Allstar Smog (Bellflower) I decided to take a chance. Guess what? I passed within 5 mins and was told it's good to have second opinion. I'm so happy and relieved I tip the inspector for doing a good job. Also he is very knowledgeable and explained to me everything in Mao's paper Mao couldn't explain his dang self.. Thanks Allstar!!! Avoid CA Express Smog of Long Beach at all cost!! Unless you have plenty of money for gas because Mao's "just drive it" "don't be afraid to drive it" advice will easily cost you hundreds or even thousands of dollars in today's gas prices. You've been warned. Go to Allstar Smog of Bellflower (and be done in 5) to avoid Mao's nonsense explanations, confusion, frustration, money, and most importantly TIME especially in a busy state like California. read more
