Today we ordered a vegetable fasilli and the chicken brick dish. Neither was very good. The pasta dish lacked flavor. There wasn't much in terms of vegetables. It was so disappointing I thought of taking a picture but it really was such a boring dish. White beans would give this some flavor and more protein. We've suggested they look at adding some beans to their vegan vegetarian dishes but have been met with radio silence 2 The chicken brick dish was not very good. Three people tried it and all were very disappointed. I'll try to add a picture of it. Very little of it was eaten. 3. The service has gone down, downhill to the point of being actually really bad from inexperienced hostess to inexperienced avoidant waitress to defensive annoying manager . Even our grown son was with us who has been in the service industry was astonished at the manager who came over to us after + though we did not complain, to lecture us on how food takes time, was defensive after everything came late, service slow, items not available after waiting, , reordering then late again, on and on. I want to preface this by saying my family and I have been eating at Ca'Dario for years, as this is one of my dads favorite restaurants in town. This most recent experience left a bad taste in my mouth. My family and I recently came for dinner. When I made the reservation, I explicitly stated we were celebrating my dad's 60th birthday. Unfortunately, this was not acknowledged at any point throughout the dinner. We also watched other tables receive birthday desserts but unfortunately, communication was missed somewhere down the line and our server and host never acknowledged this for us. Additionally, they crammed us into a table against the wall that was comprised of 2 twotops pushed together. My friends and I visited Ca'Dario Oct 21st and our server was Luigi (Luis). We were there to celebrate one of the birthdays of one of the girls. The food was super good I had the pappardelle alla boscaiola and it was just the best definitely recommend that. Even better the service, they were very attentive to us and kept on checking up on us. At the end of the night they brought in a cake we had taken and sang happy birthday to my friend in Spanish and English. We were very pleased with food and the service. Arrived and we were seated immediately without a reservation. Drinks were ordered and Bread was served with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. We started with leek and potato soup. The soup was luke warm and lacked flavor. Wasn't a fan of the soup. The food selections were mediocre. The gnocchi was undercooked and when I brought it up to the server she ran off and came back saying another one was being made. I would've preferred it be taken off of my bill. It was not even a question. I was not happy with the pressure to take a recooked dish. I am not one to send food back but when you open up the middle of the potato and it isn't cooked properly I think the customer should call it. Not the kitchen or the server. The restaurant is cute and cozy. Unfortunately, the open kitchen is located in the main room so when they're cooking, it can get very warm and uncomfortable. I suggest sitting in the other room or out on the patio during summertime. Food is typical Italian food. It's really nothing special. For appetizers, we had smoked salmon that tasted just like the ones you get any grocery store. I would avoid ordering that because it really is no different. We also ordered seafood cioppino, which actually had good flavors in the broth but seafood didn't taste fresh. For entrees, I ordered the lobster and crab pasta. It was flavorful and cooked al dente but was quite greasy and heavy. Chicken entree has decent flavors but was ordinary and dry. We got chocolate lava cake for dessert and it was yummy. Bummer... super slow. Not attentive service. I asked for a sauce substitution and they acted like I was asking for something unheard of. Almost done with our food before we got a water refill. We got a bread refill after about 30 minutes and then they didn't bring oil and vinegar. Also the bread baskets were filthy see the attached picture. The food was a three or four stars but the service was terrible. Definitely would not come back based on this experience and would not recommend. There are much better spots in SB. If I could rate 0 stars I would. The night began nicely being greeted and taken to our reservation promptly. We ordered our apps and drinks and one of the kids orders first. The pasta came out dry and not true to a bolognese. Sent it back twice and still was not good. The bread was cold. Then the fries that we ordered NEVER came. Then all the other entrees came and my husband's risotto was raw (hard pieces of rice not aldente), and he let them know that. We would've just kept on eating quietly yet the chef, crazy manager, and waiter came over to make a dramatic show occur. We've eaten here plenty of times before and not once has this happened ever and it was embarrassing. The blonde tall manager has got to go if this restaurant wants to keep its clientele. Literally yelling at the table scaring both kids as she explains how northern Italy makes their pastas and risottos differently and blah blah blah. And saying she has to defend the restaurant because we were complaining too much and that this restaurant wasn't for us. All we said was that two dishes came out wrong. We told them to try the risotto and then she came back with a spoon trying it (from my husbands dish) saying this is exactly what it needed to taste like since it is from northern Italy LOL. She needs a lesson in customer service skills because the way she spoke to her PAYING customers was so disrespectful. it was absolutely embarrassing, I don't recommend this restaurant whatsoever I would much rather go drop $400 at tres lune who has way better service than go back here!! read more

The food here was tasty! My favorite dish was the Grigliata D'Asparagi, which is white asparagus wrapped with pancetta. Just typing that is making me crave some! I ordered the spaghetti con Polpette della nonna and enjoyed it. My friend ordered the ravioli Al burro e salvia, and can confirm that it was delish. Our server was friendly, although it took a very long time to receive our food, which was a bit of a bummer. There's decent street parking around the block and a parking garage about a block away. Another delicious meal at Ca'Dario! We tried the Pappardelle alla Boscaiola for the first time and it was very flavorful. I would definitely get it again. The bolognese is always a favorite, paired with the Insalata Romana. The downtown location was surprisingly busy for a Monday night so pretty noisy and tables for 2 were very close together so you could easily hear the neighbors' conversations. They were able to seat us right away but I'll make sure to have a reservation next time to get more prime seating. For being busy, servers were attentive and did a great job. read more

We dined very early (5:30pm) as we were headed to a concert at The Lobero. We were seated promptly and our server (and the kitchen) were very efficient. Since we didn't know our time frame, we only ordered main dishes but they came out quickly. I had the ravioli stuffed with spinach & ricotta and with a brown butter sage sauce - 5 large ravioli that were delicious! My husband had the yummy spinach fettuccine with bolognese sauce. By the time we left, the restaurant was filling up and the tables are quite close together so the noise level was increasing so that might be a factor if you're wanting a more quiet evening. Not surprised to read about the "defensive annoying manager" in other reviews below. First of all, the staff (with the exception of the manager) was very friendly and the food was excellent. We had a nice bottle of wine and delicious food from the menu. Loving Italian gelato, my wife inquired whether she could have two gelato flavors but a smaller portion, like the size of one scoop, as we were already pretty full. Minutes later, an upset restaurant manager came to our table and at full volume (other guests were looking over to us) told us "just no. this is where I draw the line for you." Visibly confused, I tried to tell her she should find a more tactful way of saying that, which made her only more upset. For the record, we didn't ask for any special accommodations or changes to the menu. My wife and I felt really uncomfortable and just wanted to leave. Very confusing and very disappointing experience... I have no idea how this person got to become a restaurant manager. read more

We ordered two things of the menu the ravioli and the meat pasta. Both were delicious! But because my family is vegetarian they accommodated very well. Were were able to get a vegetarian risotto and another vegetarian pasta. All of the dishes were great. Not the best food ever but very tasty nonetheless. We went to this place for date night last night. We were in Santa Barbara for a show and we found this place and it had great reviews and we wanted to try it. The service here was weird. We were seated and we started looking at the menu. We ordered drinks. Then decided to order dinner. My husband asked if he can change the sauce on the ravioli to meat sauce and the waiter said he has to charge him and we asked how much, he said he has to check with the chef. He goes and comes back and says $5 or $10. And my husband and I just looked at each other and he opted out. Not sure how he doesn't know what the cost of that would be. Didn't want to be surprised with a random amount on our bill. My husband ordered the ravioli and I ordered the ziti. There was no option for meat to go with our pasta. The food tasted good. Waiter barely checked in on us. We asked for more bread and olive oil and vinegar and he only brought back bread and was unpleasant about it. Then we asked for more oil and vinegar since we didn't get any and they brought us an overflowing tiny bowl. My husband asked for another beer that took forever to show up. We got dessert and it was ok. Again, the food is good. They actually had a lot of to go orders. But their service is really awful. Their prices are high for what you get. The clam pasta was a little soupier than I expected but it was nice on a cold night. The bolognese was rich and flavorful and makes me want to work more on mine. I door dashed this calabrese pizza thingy. Delivery was fast. Food was hot enough. Ok, if you ever had pizza from Brooklyn Ny. The cheese and tomato sauce was very similar. The pizza was a tad bit too salty... That easily could have been a personal problem ( I've been eating sweets all day) overall, the flavor was good. It's nice to know Santa Barbara actually has a pizza spot with flavor. I wasn't a fan of the crust and how the pizza separated. Dough was somewhat soggy. But still the flavor compensated for it.
