Back in the city at work and starving. I ordered the A7 Shrimp Pho and it was great for the price, with five huge shrimp, lots of noodles and a nicely developed broth. I didn't even have to ask for chili oil. They send it automatically, along with sriracha and hoisin. I wish I received chopsticks and a spoon but luckily my office has some to spare. I only work in the city from time to time, so I didn't know to request utensils with my order. Will be ordering for them again as I have yet to be disappointed.
I'm so glad that I found this place near my office because it is affordable and tasty! I got the BTN bowl, which was quite filling, but definitely plan to come back again to try the Banh Mi next time I am craving some Vietnamese food. There's not much space inside, but it's great if you want some carry-out.
The food was decent overall, but a few dishes didn't have as much flavor as I expected, and the portions felt a little small for the price. The staff was friendly, though the wait was longer than anticipated. It's an okay spot if you're in the area, but I don't know that I'd go out of my way to return.
Ordered a Pho Saigon. Rare or Cooked Sliced Flank Steak, Beef Shin & Beef Balls. The service was very good , in this small take out place.
With few Vietnamese options in the area, I have ventured out to Boi-licious to get my fix. Their noodle bowl wasn't bad, and their Vietnamese iced coffee is solid. What I take issue with is their banh mis. I've tried their Pork Belly banh mi and Sliced Duck Breast banh mi, and maybe I still need to sample the classic Banh Mi Saigon, but with my current experience, I'm taking the safer route and heading to Joju instead. The only flavors in the banh mis I've tried come from an overload of salt and black pepper, as well as mayo. As you can see from the photo of the sliced duck breast banh mi, there was not nearly enough cucumber--literally just one stick. (They also forgot to remove the jalapeños even though I asked for not spicy.)
I was excited to get some Vietnamese food to go. I got bun thit nuong. It didn't quite hit the spot as much as I would have liked. The guy did give me a mango dessert though which was super nice! I would maybe try something different.
Wait time during lunch was long. Decided to try the lemongrass tofu bahn mi with spice. The bread was absolutely delicious and the fresh jalapeños were pretty spicy. The vegetables and herbs were fresh. Overall there could've been more filling. Tofu was good but could've been more flavorful with lemongrass. Would definitely come back ans get this again.
Absolutely superb!! I would've mistaken this hole-in-the-wall Vietnamese takeout joint for a cell phone shop and walked on by if it weren't for Yelp. Located on E. 44th off to the side of Grand Central station with an unassuming store front, this place makes some of the best banh mi in the city! The guy minding the counter told me the Banh Mi Saigon is his favorite sandwich here so that's what I ordered, and it did not disappoint! The bbq lemongrass pork rice box is also terrific, with tender and flavorful pork slices, served with a zesty sauce (your choice of dressing - I picked sesame basil). My toddler and I devoured the creamy taro tapioca pudding. I'm eager to try the pho, bun bo hue, coconut soups, and ramen next, but if this experience is any indication, I have high expectations of those other dishes too. I just love hidden gems like this - totally unembellished and unexpected, serving top notch food! The great prices are an extra plus.
It was a cold day and I needed warm and healthy, and no line. This place usually has a line of people both ordering and waiting for their orders. They're fast...it's the demand for their fresh ingredients. I had the chicken pho this time, spicy on the side. It comes with a hoisin sauce and siracha packet, with enough spicy sauce to light you up. The broth is well wrapped in a smaller container. The protein and fresh onions, noodles and fresh green seasoning layered in the main bowl. I rush back to the office to mix it up and always feel satisfied and like I made a good choice. The staff are polite and efficient. I've had their bah mi in the past and it's good too...worth a good lunch. Price was about $12. This is a carry out place, no room to sit.

The pork summer rolls had a little too much mint for my taste, but was still really good - Affordable. One of the few places in the area where you can get a cheap meal and not be fast food - Quick service Cons: - Small store. Most people wait outside for their food to come out because of how small it is inside. Don't worry; the staff comes out with the food when it's ready Overall: Great place for a quick/cheap meal but great tasting Vietnamese food. I will definitely be ordering from here more
The takeout spot is a hidden gem. I recommend ordering ahead of time before you go there because there is limited standing room inside and no seating. I had to wait 15 minutes since I didn't order in advance. I got the Chicken Coconut Curry Soup. It was a really good size for a pretty affordable meal. If you are a messy person, I recommend being careful because they serve the soup broth separately from the meat and vegetables.

I love this spot. It's a tiny hole in the wall joint but their pho and sandwiches are amazing. It's a small operation with one guy working the register and one guy in the kitchen, but they're fast and friendly. You can't go wrong with either their pho, curry pho or banh mi. It's a great spot to pick up dinner next to Grand Central. Their banh mi's are huge and very flavorful. The other day, I picked up a banh mi for myself and a breakfast burrito for my girlfriend down the street from Little Collins, and no disrespect to Little Collins because their breakfast burrito is really good too, but take a look at the size difference between the Boi-licious banh mi compared to Little Collin's breakfast burrito. And the banh mi was cheaper too!
I was craving pho and my coworker suggested this spot by Grand Central. He has gone a few times and has no complaints. So I went, the place seemed promising, there were a few people ahead of me waiting for their orders and more people came after us to place their orders. So there was a stream of patrons. This spot is take out only. It's a small place, with no tables or chairs, just a register at the back to take your order and the kitchen behind it. Nothing wrong with that, I can just bring my food to go. So when I got my food, I peeked inside everything looked promising and I was ready to dig in! We ordered: Beef pho (the beef was raw which is how it should be..so the broth will cook it) the broth was yummy when you drink it by itself..but ... The noodles were bland. So when you pour the broth in, it was not flavorful enough for the bowl of pho. Shrimp roll (unfortunately it was also a little bland) I was glad that I got the shrimp roll because I would not have been full otherwise. So overall impression presentation was great and looks promising.. unfortunately, it was just a little bland for my taste and it did not scratch my pho itch. So I was tad disappointed. Maybe I went on a bad day or maybe I should have gotten the banh mi instead, since a lot of people were visiting this shop. read more
Still amazed by the low price point of food for this area especially. Cash only. This shop super tiny so I suggest looking up the menu ahead of time and deciding what you want ahead of time. You can also call orders ahead for pickup. The staff is really friendly and work as quickly as they can to serve out orders but be prepared to wait . It's take out only, no tables/chairs or counter. I suggest going to one of the community spaces in the area, there are quite a few . (I like 574 5th ave ) In warmer weather Bryant Park is an option. I got the Pork Belly Banh Mi. Fatty and delicious- hit the spot. Ingredients were fresh. I'd tried the Pun Bo Hue here too on a prior vist- really good. The pho is also a hit. I really dont think there are any bad options here. The food is delicious. They also have Vietnamese and desserts. Grab a bunch ,you wont be disappointed here. Service is excellent! read more
Another work lunch... another opportunity to try out a new restaurant. A few of my work buds ordered Pho and a couple of us got their banh mi. We went with their traditional. I absolutely loved my sandwich. I also got a couple of summer rolls; pork and shrimp, I had never tried this combination (can't recall ever seeing this as an option on any Vietnamese restaurant menu)... again, absolutely loved it. Why not a 5 star review?... Even though I did not try their soups (really tempted to have their Bun Bo Hue), they looked amazing (as for take out), but also looked a bit too small to satisfy my hunger (and this was confirmed by two of the guys who ordered soup, they thought it tasted great, but a bit too little food). This restaurant is officially on our office lunch rotation! =) read more

Relying on my trusty Yelp app, I searched for a lunch in midtown, steps from Grand Central Terminal. This Vietnamese sandwich shop beckoned me with a rating of four and a half out of 5-stars. Worth a look. The line was just a short 10- minute wait after noon. The price was right for a roast pork "signature" banh mi sandwich and the price of $9 including tax is great for this area where lunch can easily cost you over$20. It is merely a booth where you order and pick up. I found a nice pocket urban park with tables and chairs a short block away for lunching al fresco. Aaah, now that's what I'm talkin' about! The flavorful roast pork on a nice crisp baguette is what dreams are made of. Order it mild or spicy. Crunchy shredded carrot and cucumber bring it all home for me seasoned with a special sauce that would make McDonalds' jealous. read more
I wish I had known about this place earlier as I would've tried out other stuff from their menu. However, it is better late than never. This place is literally a hole in the wall. You can only take out food, and there's no place to dine-in here at all. The place asks that you pay with cash as it will be cheaper. I fortunately carry cash with me for the most part, so it worked out. Once you order food, they give you a ticket, and you can either wait inside or outside. They call the ticket number, and that's how the food is given to you. I got an S30, which is the traditional viet sandwich. It has different types of meat on it, and it comes with other toppings in a toasted baguette. I enjoyed it! I would like like to go back to try other entrees off the menu such as their pho. Sometimes the best food you'll ever eat comes from a hole in the wall place in the middle of midtown. It's so small, there is no place to sit so you'll have to be good with taking it out. But for all the small that Boi-licious is, there is a huge stamp of approval for quality and taste delivered in your Take Away Bag. As you wait in line, pay homage to the their little sacred place in the corner. For me, seeing it makes this place much more bonfide. IYKYK. The price isn't bad either. This is definitely that little shop that you'll want to keep to yourself. But don't do that, share your experience outloud so more people come. After all, we wouldn't want this little gem to disappear. read more

They have a great Banh Mi, but you have to ask to get the bread toasted as it comes default on the softer side. Usually just get the Banh Mi, but tried the "Pork Spring Roll" this time and wouldn't recommend, thought was a bit bland and the sauce wasn't helping much. Interior of the restaurant is pretty small though, more of a takeout place. Have come a few times to get lunch, always very fast and can't beat the price. read more
Small shop in Midtown with no seats, but cheap and delicious food! Ordered a banh mi saigon and fresh shrimp roll. Banh mi was flavorful, and the portion was well worth the price point. Shrimp rolls were slightly disappointing; they were a tad small and the lettuce wasn't that fresh. However, I'd definitely return for the banh mis! read more

I've passed this restaurant dozens of times, often on my way to the Chipotle next door. Today, I stared intently at the menu walked in and was greeted by the friendly cashier. I placed my order, wok seared beef and onion in vermicelli noodles and greens. I got my medium spicy coconut curry sauce on the side. $13 with tax included. At my desk, I dug in and found that yes, the homemade sauce was medium spicy and my meal was amazingly good, five stars. It's homemade, tasty Vietnamese. The line out the door gave me a hint that this tiny hole in the wall without any seating was actually a powerhouse of authentic Vietnamese cuisine. They have a fridge of non alcoholic beverages and homemade desserts and also sweet and spicy snacks at the front. Needless to say, when I'm in my midtown office, I'll be back for more. I'm sure their banh mi sandwiches are also excellent. read more

One of our Midtown staples, we first tried Boilicious on a whim since we were looking for some variety during lunch time and a good banh mi or pho doesn't disappoint. We started off getting banh mis and soon each had a favorite. My bf loves their Banh Mi Saigon (traditional with patê, Vietnamese ham, pork belly) and I love their BBQ Pork Banh Mi. You always have the option to get your sandwich toasted and to adjust the spiciness. Mild or medium for us depending on the day. For me, the BBQ pork has a nice sauce and the pork is substantial in the sense that there's enough to bite into when you're eating the sandwich. He likes the traditional banh mi because all the different types of meat come together very well. We usually also get their shrimp summer roll. They add rice noodles, lettuce, basil and lime sauce but most importantly, you don't lose the shrimp while eating it (there's a dipping sauce included as well). We've noticed this sometimes happens with other Vietnamese places. Lastly, I tried out their Pho Saigon (beef, beef shin, beef balls) a few times and enjoy that as well. You can tell that the soup has been cooked for some time and all the flavors have come out into the broth. You can ask for the beef to be cooked fully or for it to be rare. Sometimes with takeout if there's a concern that it won't get cooked (since the soup is usually separated for takeout), this can be a good option. Boilicious doesn't have seating, so note that all of our orders have been takeout only. We've been coming back here repeatedly since the first try and are big fans! We've brought family with us as well so we'd definitely highly recommend Boilicious. If you're in the Midtown area, it's worth the stop! read more

Cozy Viet takeout place by Grand Central with affordable and yummy options including banhmis, phos, rolls, rice bowls and various Asian snacks. There are plenty of dishes to choose from and all of which we ordered were fresh and well-made. My favorite was the shrimp rolls with fresh shrimp, mint, and noodles all wrapped super tightly. The baguette for the banhmi also had the classic crunch. You can tell they care about the quality and preparation of your food. Majority of the items are approx $10 or less for a decent portion with all the sauces and condiments you'll need. I like how they package your food very carefully to prevent spills. The owner and cook are also very friendly and quick with their service. Overall, recommend if you're looking for a quick and convenient meal! read more
