This is a bar as best as I can say. They did have great beers on tap and the staff was fun. It's more a locals place id say but it you just wanna drink and have bar food and sit on the inlet of the bay in Georgetown SC and listen to conversations and people watch , its a cool plaxe to do it. I read in many of the reviews that this restaurant had a great view of the ocean. I didn't find this to be true. I did find that this place has a great view of a dock. I guess that works. As far as the food goes, I had the blueberry jalapeño shrimp tacos and a side of buffalo chips. They weren't great. The shrimp in the tacos were very flavorful, but the sauce was disappointing. It pretty much tasted like spicy blueberry jelly. I would have loved for more of the jalapeño flavor to come through. The buffalo chips were very bland. A little salt/seasoning of any kind always helps. On the upside, our server was very nice to us our entire time there, and the outdoor seating area was very enjoyable. They also have live music on certain nights, so that's a plus. read more

They have a good drink selection here, full bar outside and inside, and live music sometime nights. I had the fried shrimp and was very impressed with it. The sauce that comes with it really makes it stand out from shrimp baskets I've had other places. I highly recommend the outdoor seating to get a view of the riverfront if the weather is nice and there are seats available. The only thing I thought was lacking was the seating policy. Both times I've been I've seen a sign saying to see hostess, only to have random staff see me waiting and tell me to sit wherever. Lunch was so good that we decided to come back for dinner. The dinner crowd was a little more... eclectic than the lunch crowd but hey, they treated us like VIPs! They even kicked two attractive ladies out of the best table in the house to make way for our party of six. No one had to wait on a drink all night. The service was top-notch from the moment we sat down. This was all the more impressive because our server had taken down 18 beers and two bottles of wine the day prior. Cat 1 Hurricane... why not? I don't judge. In fact, I laud his effort for showing up to work and staying until the job was done (more on that later). Buzz's food exceeded expectations. The crab dip was a playful little dish. Tendies were a touch dry, but the Mahi tacos were Out.Of.This World. Freshly caught fish wrapped in a lightly fried tortilla that reminded me of a Colombian Arepa. Top that off with the Roost's very own candy cane porter and you will know what true bliss tastes like. All sounds pretty good right? Wrong. I feel compelled to write this review because the kitchen was blatantly in breach of the fire code - There was no emergency exit. How do I know this, you might ask? Well, Georgia was about to wrestle the lead away from Missouri (go Dawgs) when the crackle of gunshots rang through the bar. Naturally, my mind raced to the active shooter training module I had been compelled to click through or risk ending up in hot water with HR. I knew exactly what to do - Stop, drop and roll. Like an elite seal team squadron, my guys and I bolted for the emergency exit that was sure to be located in the kitchen. Wrong again. There was no way out of that kitchen, and the nearest exit felt further away than even my most errant drive on this cart path-only kind of day. We took a moment to gather ourselves and determine the next move. The type of shooting that occurs at this time of night likely isn't coming from a guy with a manifesto.. we felt good about that. Still, we wanted to get the F out of there. Determined to break out of this kitchen panic room, we crept back out the door we came in. Sure enough, out popped our server dutifully arriving with a mobile credit card terminal in tow. His hands were shaking like a shitting dog, and the card just wouldn't go through. Was he in shock or just suffering from the worst case of delirium tremens in history? We'll never know. But I'll be damned if we didn't pool together $330 of cash on the spot to leave him with a 20% tip for his outstanding service. On our way out he encouraged us to use the front door because "the shooter is still out back". The red lights of the exit sign were in plain sight, and we could taste freedom on the other side. Not so fast. "You boys know that if you leave you cant come back in? There's no reentry." I give it 1 star. If I could give zero stars, I would. When we arrived, a server told us to sit anywhere and we chose outside. We waited 10 minutes or so to be noticed and another 10 to get our drinks. When the food arrived, it was overcooked and not as ordered. The server never reappeared until it was time to give us the bill. She said that she was slammed which was why we were ignored. She must have been the only server who was slammed because I saw all the others multiple times. Food is consistently good for the three times that I've been here at this location. They're last place was destroyed in a massive fire. I like the new location better. It's more own to the waterfront. The service has been on point. I'm really not sure what happened with the other reviews. I am actually a little befuddled by the slightly negative reviews made. Several locals recommended this spot. First things first--- so hungry forgot food pics. Eclectic casual dining with multiple tvs across the bar for your enjoyment and reasonably priced. The sign says come in and seat yourself. So that's just what we did. It wasn't long before a waitress came over. My family enjoyed a burger/fries, chicken wrap, and a salad entree. No complaints with the food and service kept checking especially since they forgot the mayo on the burger and to bring the salad. No problems with a return visit when I return to the area. read more

On what planet is a "French Dip" sandwich a steak sandwich with a cup of beef stock? It's supposed to be (and is described on the menu as) sliced roast beef on a roll with juice for dipping. What I got was sliced beef that had been grilled until it was slightly burnt. I probably should have sent it back but I was with friends and din't want to make a scene. Loved the food and atmosphere. Waitress was great. Food was good when we got it. It took 1.5 hours to get our food. With small children it was very nice of our waitress to get the children's food in first but it was an hour until the adults got their food and we were scrambling to eat and keep the kiddos occupied. read more

Everything is fried in same oil so avoid anything fried if you have a shellfish allergy. With that said, I could not eat here. BEWARE!!!! This restaurant is dirty and not even trying to clean anything properly. The food was just ok. But half the servers did not wear masks. The other half wore them but did not cover their noses. If you are going to wear a mask the least you could do is wear it properly. Also the menus were reused so much that the print was wearing off to the point it was hard to read them. Even worse, I saw a server clear a table for new guests but she just picked up the dishes left by the last party and DID NOT wipe the table down with a rag or any type of cleaner. Don't do it. The 2 stars are for the water view and the not-horrible prices of cocktails. But everything else sucks, including the food. Hands-down worst onion rings I've had in my life, despite the waitress recommending them over the fries. The burger was less than average. The manager or owner was unnecesarily a jerk when we first walked up because we didn't notice the sign sitting on the ground that mentioned the hostess stand. We stopped here for a quick rest and waterside drink after strolling along the river on the boardwalk. There is plenty of free street side parking nearby to this establishment. It is at one end of the boardwalk so it was a nice way to end our day. The outside area is extremely laid back with picnic tables and table umbrellas. It did not appear that there was any actual service being provided outside so I went in to get our drinks. The bartender was very attentive and friendly. The inside is very spacious with plenty of TVs and a sports bar atmosphere. Several other people appeared to be doing the same as us and actually joined us at our table on the patio. Food was pretty good. I had the Buzz Burger and it was real good. The place itself is nice. Big wide open space with tv's on the wall which are viewable from almost any angle. I visited in a party of 7 (includes two six year old's) about an hour and a half before closing. We sat outside with a view of the riverfront which was nice. This is a bar not a restaurant. The music was louder than needed. Our waitress was being harassed by a drunk patron who decided to run his fingers through her hair as she was taking our order. The table order drinks, appetizers, tacos, wings and crab cakes. The drinks and appetizers were all good however the crab cake was not. It was mostly bread, not seasoned, and overcooked. Front of house staff is nice and very attentive, beer selection is broad but generic and the appetizers aren't bad. However, the main coarse meals are total crap! This restaurant is 200 yards away from the boat docks and an area that that is historically responsible for almost every American rice dish known. We were served small, previously hard frozen shrimp from who knows where and rice pilaf straight out of a microwave bag. Should have paid attention to the fact that the place was almost empty at 7pm. My husband and I called and made a take out order here a few days ago and we asked for the seafood platter. We were really excited to eat it once we got home, but when we opened the container, it was the snow crab dinner. My husband was severely disappointed, however the crab legs were very good. Cool place along the water in the Georgetown historic area. We opted to have lunch outside on the deck to enjoy the water and boats. Service was good. The menu wasn't exceptionally large but had a wide enough variety to satisfy most folks. We opted for a broiled flounder sandwich and a broiled grouper sandwich. The flounder was a pretty skimpy piece of fish but the grouper was nice and plump. I'd skip the flounder and go with the grouper next time. Nice atmosphere sitting on the deck having a beer and a salad with chicken. Received the bill and the numbers didn't make sense. I added the numbers and it didn't match the total. I told the bartender and she told the manager who didn't do anything. It was $2 give or take some change but they couldn't tell me why and I paid it to get out of there. Horrible service!!! We were there about 130 on Saturday. It wasnt too busy stood at the hostess stand about 5 min waiting on a table, finally a chewing waitress said set anywhere, we did I got us menus as we waited there were literally 5 empty tables it isnt that busy at all, 4 separate waitresses looked at us no one said anything!!!!! We wanted to eat in Georgetown since we were nearby. Chose this place since it was one of the few left open for dinner on a Sunday night. Some of our meals were good and a couple of got sub par food. The shrimp wrap was bad, some shrimp were still half frozen! My French Dip was excellent and so was my sons burger. the Calamari was excellent. If you are looking for a gourmet restaurant, this is not it. If you are looking for a bit more than just bar food in a bar setting, this is totally your place. Plenty of beer and cocktails, very casual on the Harbour Walk providing a water front bar/casual dining experience.
