So this is a love it or not place, plenty of my friends love it. I am not a big fan. Starting off, we arrived two minutes before opening an hostess with no personality curtly told us the time. Two minutes later she asked if we were ready. Since the clouds were dark and storm expected we asked for inside seating (all empty tables) - Denied. Asked if we could get a covered table outside and since there were only two of us when she took us to a four top she decided not to seat us - Denied. She made us sit at a two top outside the covered area. Our view was a garbage strewn swampy area instead of one of the many open tables along the river. This is not an enclosed restaurant so be prepared for open walls/open air experience. The name makes you think "hunting lodge" motif, but it's more creekside open air. The menu online is not the menu they gave us so we had to find something on the spot. The menu choices are adventurous and if you're a "plain" diner this is not a good fit for you. My wife asked if her choice was spicy, server said "not at all", guess what? It was spicy and she couldn't eat it. She told server who didn't offer to remedy. My dinner was okay, but definitely not worth the price of it. We paid and barely made it to car before the skies opened up. We thought about trying dessert but we knew we weren't seated in a place to have it as the raindrops were randomly falling on us. As we left most of the 4 tops under cover were still open. So that is what I ordered. They were very good. Big! Tailless. Fried to perfection. Eli got the quail. We don't see quail on many menus in Charleston, SC. So he had to get it. It came out looking like two little baby chickens. The birds were served whole. The atmosphere here is nice. They have a bunch of antlers as decoration. They have some cool art featuring animals that people hunt. They also have taxidermy animals on the wall, such as ducks. The service was friendly. She took our drink orders, came back with drinks. Then she took our appetizer order. We got the hushpuppies, the perlau fritters, and the duck confit jalapeño poppers. The hush puppies were huge! The server joked and said they were hush doggies because they're so big! Overall, we had a great experience. I'd definitely go back here when I'm in the area. I hear this place opened up during Covid. So it's fairly new. They are right on the water too. They have patio seating but it was raining and cold on the day we came so we chose to sit inside. A very nice casual place to dine. There is an outdoor deck with heaters so you choose that if you want to . A decent iceberg wedge salad and great fish of the day, Red snapper. Service was good but a little slow. It has a visible kitchen which is fun to watch. The restaurant is a block off the beaten path of the main drag so check your directions. Street parking is pretty good. Really tacky decor that could use some updates and better art. Not being snobby but it could be so much better than it is. As I hunt for good seafood through Charleston and nearby areas. I found this gem of a place on my expedition for finding local real estate by water. Georgetown has its pretty views hidden by the multitude of older factories which sometimes has its own charm. As I sit down by the water and enjoy a refreshing drink. Maggie's quick service and her suggested salad of the day which was grilled Mahi Mahi with sesame oil dressing and red peppers( Pic) was on point. The salad was delicious and since it was lunch the portion was right. My first thought after finishing the Mahi Mahi, I wanted more. Is that a sin, maybe not. This is a really cute place. Out of the way and easy to get to. Here are my concerns. I ordered the sweet potato and brisket hash. $20 It does describe it as crispy potato and smoky brisket. What I got was a pile of deep fried sp cubes, a pile of diced brisket, 1 whole sauage and a pile of Brussels. All served in a bowl. It look disconnected. Hash is hash, all mixed up and cohesive. This was not. Besides the beef was tough as stew meat and was not smoky brisket. It's also difficult to cut a whole sausage in a bowl! All in all, I consider it a fail. Hubs got the chicken BLT. Nice sandwich. He also chose the truffle fries. There was a large amount of fries. But they were so oily, dripping in oil. Over salted. Over other spices. I ate a few, but had to stop. Met up with some friends for our first BTA experience this past Saturday. We loved the atmosphere, for sure. Watching the fish a jumpin' while sitting on the back deck was a treat, especially once Whiskey Neat band kicked off the evening entertainment! Some additional fans to help when the breeze eluded us would have been nice, and I think the seats were designed for short term diners, not hanging out for several hours. Awesome addition to Georgetown. By far the best views of anywhere on the waterfront. Indoor and outdoor bars, comfortable seating, lots of patio and outdoor space with good food and cold drinks. Staff is attentive and seem to truly care about your experience. Also, the kitchen is visible to the public. Another great meal between the antlers. Well some of these photos are from multiple times going. The last time we were there had seared scallops with pork belly over risotto. That was absolutely insane. Don't skip out on the Thursday night prime rib night. It's it's some of the best prime rib I've had. It's cooked to perfection and the seasoning is second to none. Me and my ol lady went here for some Saturday lunch. Food was not that good to be honest. She got the seafood platter which is $24 and consisted of six fried shrimp. I worked in the seafood industry for years and recognized her shrimp as 16-20s or "jumbo" which run about 10-12 heads off so tops $4 of shrimp deep fried and marked up 6x is crazy. The host was very friendly, and accommodating to get us a table outside. Our waiter was excellent! He knew exactly what they were out of, and let us know up front. He checked on us regularly, and got our drinks and food to us very quickly. The place was very nice and clean. It was a beautiful day and the view is amazing! As for the food, it was absolutely delicious! The she crab soup was loaded with crab, and the fried bologna egg and cheese sandwich was downright incredible! As long time locals in the Pawleys Island area we have continued to frequent restaurants multiple times a week. We generally try new locations after the tourist season. We recently visited this restaurant in Georgetown and were excited to go even the reviews we read were decidedly mixed. On the positive side the location is beautiful. Many of the Georgetown locations have the blight of the mills ruining the view. That's not the case with this restaurant. Another plus is the staff who were all fantastic. Very informative and helpful and always present. The ambience of this restaurant is by far the best feature For the negative, we arrived at 5:30 PM on a Saturday and the location was moderately busy. They had "music" just starting to be played and unfortunately the gentleman singing (although I'm sure he's a nice guy) did not have a good voice. The worst part about his poor singing was the fact that it was so LOUD! It was impossible to have a conversation with each other. I would suggest that if they're going to subject patrons to this type of thing to not have it start until after dinner rush so that people can hear each other speak. If this particular gentleman comes back it would probably be more helpful if people have been drinking a good long while before he started to play. We couldn't imagine that he was being paid so perhaps he was friend of the owner or someone who volunteered. Unfortunately the largest negative was the food itself. The 4 of us ended up spending well over $200 for appetizers, drinks and entrées. We got hush puppies and a crabcake for appetizers. None of the four of us would order either of those appetizers again. The crabcake was very mushy. The hush puppies were average at best. Two of us got the Scallop special for dinner and they were wrapped in bacon that was virtually raw. The scallop itself was OK but the entree was small and the raw bacon ruined the dish. One of us ordered the $40 ribeye, which was ordered medium, but came out raw. Even if it had been cooked, it was so fatty only about half was edible. There were exactly 5 burned up strands of what was supposed to be asparagus on the plate. A side of collards was also plain. We hadn't read any other reviews of this place prior to going and were hopeful the food would be good. Not only was the food not good it was very poor. We won't be bringing any of our visitors there again. We really strongly advise the management to turn that music off until the main dinner crowd is finished. Also, someone needed to check before it leaves the kitchen as their steak and the bacon on the scallops because the steak was raw as well as the bacon. Very, very disappointing. But it is a beautiful location. I'm sure the tourists will enjoy. read more

Ambiance 4/10 because it didn't match the vibe the menu is going for. This place has beautiful waterfront views but if you're not lucky enough to sit outside you will sweat to death and still fight the flies because they leave the front door wide open. UPDATE: This place was so good that we canceled lunch plans for elsewhere the next day and went back for lunch and, embarrassingly, dinner. Clearly, we are fans. Dinner vs. lunch: the charcuterie board at dinner is twice the size of the one served at lunch AND I AM NOT COMPLAINING! I was pleasantly surprised to see the huge board when it came out for dinner service. In the same service, we ordered the She Crab Soup...which I haven't ordered anywhere in years due to the generally poor quality and scant crab...but THIS SHE CRAB blew my mind. It's the best I've had in 20 years and, dare I say, as good as my grandmother's. The devilish eggs are lip-smacking delights that we will order again and again any time we come to town and the wedge salad was fresh, with the tomatoes served on skewers. Such a nice touch. This update doesn't *really* do anything but deepen my stance that this is one of the loveliest restaurants I've been to in a long time. It checked all the boxes: ambience, knowledgeable bar tenders, great service, and delicious food. Note: this place *can* get crowded at times. We had a 45 minute wait to be seated for dinner, but it was worth it. End of Update. What a pleasant experience! Though we sat outside at the bar, the interior of the restaurant is inviting, a little rustic, and very cool. Larry, our bartender, was such a delight. My husband started with the cocktail "Mr. Dickey's Flask" and he thoroughly enjoyed it. As the afternoon progressed, he ordered a perfectly made Old Fashioned and the Winyah...something Martini. It's the martini with the pomegranate syrup. I can't remember the name of it, but he loved it. I was so grateful that they had a Mocktail menu as well! I don't drink and I usually end up with club soda and a lime. The Cosmopolitan Mocktail is delicious. Light, refreshing and not too sweet. Don't know how they make it, but it's delicious! Charcuterie plate came out. Perfect blend of salty meats and cheese. Pickled okra and beets were an unexpected, delicious addition as were what I *think* were benne wafers. My husband ordered the Duck Confit at my suggestion. He "didn't know" if he liked duck, but rolled the dice. Walking back to our hotel, he couldn't stop talking about how good it was. They managed to put this dish together without it being overly "greasy," packed full of flavor, and the caramelized onions were a nice addition. It's served over Carolina Gold rice and it's just fantastic. I had the Barbecued Shrimp and it blew my mind. The shrimp were large, infused with flavor, and the portion size was incredibly generous! Served over Marsh Hen Mill grits and two slices of grilled bread this dish hit the spot for me. Service was a 10. Ambiance was a 10. Quality and Quantity of food was a 10.
