The 1740 sandwich was great and the waitress was friendly. I liked the atmosphere and decor.

Food is great and the service is fantastic. Easily the best place to eat in Georgetown and it's not even close. Highly recommended

Came to SoCo for a nice lunch outside on a beautiful fall day. Not real busy downtown along front…read morestreet on a Tuesday, which was perfect from all the tourist places in MB. We're greeted quickly and asked to sit outside where they have about 8 tables with some shade along Front Street. There are a lot of items on the menu at SoCo, so don't forget to look at the backside! A couple orders came out and I almost ordered one of the burgers, but I decided to try something different.. Ended up ordering the John's Island Buttermilk boneless chicken with pepper gravy and blue cheese cole slaw! Plus you also get to order one side dish! Ordered the grits and palmetto cheese as my side, but there were plenty of great options to choose from. My wife ordered the wedge salad topped with grouper, but our server wasn't sure if they had grouper available that day. So, about 15-20 minutes later, which was fine as we were enjoying our alfresco experience our meals arrived. Guess they had the grouper available. My wife loved her salad and the grouper was perfectly cooked. I was surprised at the size of the fish tbh. My wife would not hesitate to order hers again! My John's Island, was sooooo tender with a great crust and just enough pepper gravy. The chicken was still very warm and by not smothering completely the chicken with the gravy, it was still very crispy. The blue cheese slaw was good, but should have been on the side of the plate not with the chicken sitting on top of it. You kinda get confused with the pepper gravy on top and under the chicken is the blue cheese slaw. I was a little disappointed with the grits. The grits were not as warm as the chicken and I think it was in part due to the cold palmetto cheese, which I mixed with the grits. The grits were good just not the right temp imo. Overall a really good meal on a beautiful day, what more could you ask for?

We were not quite hungry enough for lunch so we opted for a few appetizers and Bloody Marys…read more We started with an order of fried okra served with roasted red pepper bacon jam. It was delicious, but I would suggest that they serve the roasted red pepper, bacon jam more at a room, temperature and not served cold. We also ordered the fried green tomatoes. They were on top of a serving of grits. The tomatoes themselves were pretty good however, the grits did not have any flavor. I was not a fan of the sauce that was served with them. The Bloody Marys were pretty good but seemed like the mixer was watered down alittle. Great olives and okra with the Bloody Mary! Service was good!

Here's a fun, original review you can post for Buzz's Roost:…read more If you're driving from Charleston to Myrtle Beach after work, do yourself a favor and skip the predictable Taco Bell drive-thru. Instead, take a scenic detour to Georgetown's charming Front Street and Riverwalk, where dinner feels like the start of a mini vacation. We pulled into Buzz's Roost around 8 p.m. on a cool, damp Friday night in May, and the New England clam chowder was exactly what the doctor ordered. Warm, creamy, and comforting, it melted away the stress of the workweek with the very first spoonful. Our blackened fresh fish sandwiches were outstanding. The fish was perfectly cooked, and the seasoning had just the right kick to remind you that simple food can still be unforgettable. The atmosphere is one of my favorite parts. With its exposed brick interior and waterfront setting, Buzz's Roost feels like a cozy warehouse transformed into a laid-back riverfront hangout. Friendly service made us feel right at home, and the skeeball and foosball tables were tempting enough that we're already planning a return visit. I can easily picture coming back on a warm summer evening--or even during football season--to soak in the Riverwalk views, enjoy a great meal, and unwind. They also brew their own beer, which is a nice touch. My only wish is that they offered a non-alcoholic beer on draft for those of us making the road trip and keeping it light. Buzz's Roost is more than just a restaurant stop--it's a reminder that sometimes the best part of the journey is pulling over and discovering a place you can't wait to revisit.
