Acknowledging that every table/booth in every restaurant is $money$, this table for 4 we were escorted to should either not exist or would do far better being creatively encased with an added structure to camouflage both these spaces and dampen the associated noise. On behalf of "the man of honor" who deserved far better, I appealed to the hostess to be seated elsewhere and graciously, she did so, in the dining area where the bar is located, not lending itself well to relaxed conversation, however. Oh well. Making up for the initial shifts and adjustments above, our server "Hunter" and the entrés 3 of the 4 of us chose were so delicious! Starting with Hunter, Cafe Piccolo would be wise to invest in retaining his skills in any possible manner. As a server, he was attentive, knowing what we needed and exactly when. He was warm, patient, personable and gentlemanly with a charming sense of humor. I cannot figure out how he was able to demonstrate such positive qualities with the 4 of us in conjunction with attending the other diners in this completely FULL dining room! The three of us ordered one of the specials offered--seared scallops with spinach-mushroom ravioli...magnifico!! This was prepared with super plump scallops, seared to perfection and the dough of the ravioli was light and thin. One of 3 salads is offered with entrées and, without hesitation, the one with Roquefort cheese dressing was a quick choice. Unfortunately, we live over an hour north of this delicious Italian cafe so returning frequently isn't likely. But if we're ever passing through the area, Cafe Piccolo (w/ Hunter as our server, of course) is #1 on our list.

We pulled into Buzz's Roost around 8 p.m. on a cool, damp Friday night in May, and the New England clam chowder was exactly what the doctor ordered. Warm, creamy, and comforting, it melted away the stress of the workweek with the very first spoonful. Our blackened fresh fish sandwiches were outstanding. The fish was perfectly cooked, and the seasoning had just the right kick to remind you that simple food can still be unforgettable. The atmosphere is one of my favorite parts. With its exposed brick interior and waterfront setting, Buzz's Roost feels like a cozy warehouse transformed into a laid-back riverfront hangout. Friendly service made us feel right at home, and the skeeball and foosball tables were tempting enough that we're already planning a return visit. Unfortunately, the service has been consistently poor the past two years, so we had decided to stop going. At the last minute, my boyfriend and I decided to give it one more chance with just the two of us, thinking the previous issues may have been due to our large family group. Ironically, the service this time was excellent, and the food was delicious. We ordered drinks, she crab soup for both of us, an appetizer, steak, and the crab cake entree. While we were eating, I noticed the table next to us had ordered a single crab cake as an add-on to one of their dishes. Their crab cake looked completely normal. My entree, which came with two crab cakes, looked noticeably different, they weren't fully formed and had an unusual appearance. I noticed it but didn't think much of it at the time. The crab cake tasted fine, but because we had ordered so much food, I ate less than half of one before taking the rest home. A few hours after dinner, I became violently ill and spent the entire night sick. The next morning, my boyfriend and I tried to determine what could have caused it. The only food I had eaten that no one else did was the crab cakes. Every other thing was shared with at least one other person, and many of those same foods were also eaten by the rest of our beach group. No one else became sick. Because I was still feeling so ill, I asked my boyfriend to call the restaurant, not to ask for compensation, but simply to let them know what had happened so they could investigate and hopefully prevent it from happening to someone else. The manager's response was that "there is a GI bug going around." She said she would speak with the kitchen manager and owner and call us back. Four days later, we have yet to receive any follow up. Whether or not the restaurant believes the crab cakes were the cause, dismissing a customer's report by immediately suggesting an unrelated illness, then failing to follow up as promised, is disappointing and unprofessional. We weren't looking for a refund or free meal, we simply wanted to make them aware of a potentially serious issue. Given our previous experiences with declining service and now the way this situation was handled, my family and I will not be returning. The food has always been one of our favorites, which makes this outcome even more disappointing.

Just for something different i chose the house salad with ranch dressing and honestly it was the best i've had in a restaurant, it was fresh and really good. She was prompt, attentive, and gave extra attention to details like bringing a plastic plate instead of a ceramic one when I asked for an empty plate for our toddler. We had a large party and that didn't diminish the quality of our service. The food was fantastic. The crab cakes say "no filler" on the menu and they mean it. That was exactly how a crab cake should be made and the texture was perfect. Our party had every iteration of oysters you can get and they were all great. They were accommodating for a member of our party with celiac and her food was exactly what she was promised. Other points of note: Bar service was quick and friendly. The hostesses promptly accommodated our party of 10. The straps on the high chair actually worked (if you're a parent then you know what I mean). And my favorite of all: there was no tv to be seen from our table so we were all able to chit chat without distraction from glowing tv screens. This was our first trip, both to Graham's Landing and Pawley's Island. We typically vacation on Georgia beaches but we will 100% be coming back to this beach and more importantly Graham's Landing.
