I love this place! I lived in SoCal for a few years and always got the California Burrito. So when we moved to Texas we searched for a place that makes it. This is the go to for. California burrito. It's made perfectly. The fries aren't soggy, the meat isn't salty, and the burrito doesn't fall apart. We've also ordered their fish tacos which are amazing as well. Friendly greater from San Diego cal greeted us on arrival. I lived in San Diego ca for 20 years so I was supper excited when I happened to pass this place yesterday randomly. My husband and decided this is what we are doing for our date night. We were unable to decide on menu items so we opted to get a meal for today and the next day. Yummy. I had the carne asada burrito and they nailed the flavor. My husband had the nachos and it came with a generous helping of food and toppings (I will say they Tex Mex the cheese sauce) but my hubby is from Texas and thought they were perfect. The bean and cheese burrito was tasty but the star of the show was the carne asada burrito for me. It was almost as good as the food in SoCal Roberto's (flavors slightly different because of regional availability of products I'm sure) . The owners are from SoCal so they came up with a great menu to blend the 2 cultures. I'm just so excited and I will be back for more for sure. I also ordered several other items because I wanted a broad taste of the items sold here. This establishment serves delicious Mexican food (made to perfection!), the staff here is super friendly & efficient and the prices are very fair for the quality/quantity of food served! I have not been able to find any other local Mexican food establishments that serve Baja fish tacos, but, these guys have it and perfected it! All of the above items were made quickly, when ordered. The vegetables, cilantro, guacamole, pico de Gallo, salsa and limes are prepared on demand so you get the freshest product available. None of the fried foods were greasy or oily at all. None of the fish tasted "fishy" and the chicken was cooked and spiced perfectly! These plates also came with either rice & refried beans or tortilla chips, salsa & sour cream. I can tell then his company loves what they do/cook and make it fresh every time! All the foods are spiced perfectly without abusing the use of too much salt or sugar to kick up the flavors of their food. Meals also come with side hot sauces: either the mild green and the red extremely spicy. The staff here was great! Ordering at the drive-thru window is super easy. After ordering, customers pull forward and park momentarily, as food is brought to your car as quick as possible. With all the customers they've got, I was impressed bas my wait time was probably only 5 to 7 minutes. Overall, if you're looking for GOOD Mexican food, this is the place! Burrito District is legit Cali style Mexican food, made with quality ingredients. Chef Miguel is from San Diego and he's bringing that Cali Mex flavor to TX. I'm from CA, lived all over SoCal my whole life (including San Diego) and just recently moved to Houston, TX. This place is absolutely a taste of home. Flavors remind me of Adalberto's and Poquito Mas.... We've been 4 times now and everything we've ordered has been delicious. Fish tacos, shrimp burrito, Cali burrito, Carne asada fries, chicken flautas, rolled tacos, chicken quesadilla, and the house made Jamaica tea is INSANE! I love this place! new place I wanted to try. Map showed two Burrito District near me so I went to the one on Kuykendahl where my Southwest Rapid Rewards said I earned RR points for using my Chase credit card. It is in Dowdell Shopping Center on Kuykendahl not too far from 99. The prices look to be in line for similar food items in the area. I gave it a 4 for atmosphere because of the friendly staff; this is a place you come to or drive through to get Cali-Mex food not to soak up the ambiance I hear some repeat customers talking so it must be good food. As today would've been my wife's birthday and she would've ordered the fish tacos that's what I ordered, plus an Al pastor taco on the side. Your standard fish taco; nothing to write home about. Some salt and some of the thin, not very spicy "spicy sauce" helped a little. I wasn't sure I got an Al pastor taco but maybe that's what they look like in California. Can I just say how amazing it is when small businesses have drive-thrus? It's like finding a unicorn. I love to support small businesses when I can, but I love it even more when small businesses make it easy for us to support them, and drive-thrus are definitely thr way to do it. This review isn't about my love of drive-thrus though, this post is about my love for the new Burrito District in Spring. I've been told that the burritos and tacos are just like you get in California, and although I did not eat burritos or tacos when I went to California (I know, lost opportunity), I did love the rosarito, which is the grilled fish and shrimp burrito, the Carmel filled churro and the horchata, which was the best I've ever had. It didn't just taste like the essence of horchata- I could actually taste the cream and the sugar. And for that reason alone I'll be back- although I did love the burrito and I'm excited to try the tacos! read more

I don't think that Alicia (chick further down the reviews) went to the same place, we did. It was very good!!! We had the Aztec, the Pacific, Al pastor tacos and chicken flautas. All excellent. The red hot sauce and refried beans were simple and delicious. California does not add all that smoky flavor to their refritos. They were great. The horchata was creamy and delicioso. Fiance and I went to Burrito district on a Monday afternoon, there was plenty of seating and the gentleman at the counter welcomed us in. We ordered two burritos, I ordered the Galveston and my fiancé ordered the veggie burrito. Both came out very quickly, generous portion sizes, and were delicious. The tortilla is unique and resembles the California-Mex food I have had when I lived in that state (thank God I'm out of that state). Honestly, I gave this place the benefit of the doubt thinking that the bad reviews weren't going to be true... unfortunately they were based off my experience with the food itself. The idea is there but the quality of the food is so poor. I ordered the surf n turf nachos and the shrimp and ground beef made me feel sick to my stomach. The beef was so dry and tasted like it's been days old and the shrimp tasted like it was just boiled in salt water. Overall it felt like whoever made this dish didn't give two fucks about how it would turn out. So I write this review in hopes that the owner and his employees would do better in cooking quality food. Also please fix your AC Texas heat is already bad as it is and people walk into a restaurant hoping to have cool air. read more
