Burritos are delicious, portions are generous, sides are awesome, aguas frescas are refreshing, employees are nice, online ordering is easy, and the drive-thru is convenient! Highly recommend their California Burrito (steak, fries, guac) and Surf 'N Turf (steak, garlic shrimp, garlic rice). Ladies and gentlemen, we have a fight tonight: Texas vs California. In the blue corner the California burrito big, flashy, full of grilled steak (or something pretending to be steak), fries, guac, pico, shredded cheese, and sour cream. In the red corner: my Texas taste buds, undefeated and hungry. Round one let's get it on! One bite in, and it's clear California is in trouble. The steak had no seasoning, no flavor, swinging wildly at nothing while my taste buds were left in shock and laughing. The fries? Just sitting there like ring girls just there for show. Guac and pico tried to rally, but even they looked embarrassed, like the referee had to step in and say, "Come on, show me something!" Then I hear it a voice in my head: "Rik throw in the towel!" Round two never happened. One bite, one round, and Texas walks away the undisputed champion. This burrito went down faster than Jake Paul trying to land a punch on Anthony KO'd before it even had a chance to swing. California's big burrito hype? I would say it is more of a 3.5 stars. The burritos are HUGE and come with chips and salsa. Price ranges from around $10-$14 for the burritos. We ordered two burritos -1. California - steak burrito with fries, guacamole, sour cream , cheese and pico. 2. Grilled Chicken Burrito- chicken, garlic rice, beans, pico, and sour cream. The Grilled Chicken burrito was more flavorful than the Grilled California burrito. If you want a more traditional burrito go with the Grilled Chicken. The California wasn't bad but I felt like it was missing rice and the fries were good but rice would have been better. The cashier was friendly and genuinely helpful. There were a few misses. 1. Some of the chicken was hard/rubbery in the grilled chicken burrito. 2. They asked if I wanted red or green salsa so I said one of each since we had two burritos. They charged me an extra $1 without notifying me. I wish he had said, "Oh that's extra do you want it?" 3. The ice doesn't work in the ice machine so you have to get it from the cashier. 4. The vibe of the sitting area is clean, but a little sad and empty. I think it is more a of a take out place. read more

One of the things I miss about CA - Cali Mexican food!I was so excited when I stumbled upon this place. They had a drive thru option and cashier was super friendly. Menu had a lot of options and I ordered the California burrito of course. I received my giant little baby with mild and hot salsa which also came with a side of chips. I wish the gave me a knife to cut into this bad boy though. I dug in and my taste buds were deeply disappointed sigh. Unfortunately it was not very flavorful. I had takeout & ordered the shrimp taco plate (no pico). The tacos came exactly as ordered (love when that happens) & they were tasty! I loved the mini bag of chips & enjoyed it with the refried beans & green salsa. The rice was very garlicky & one bite was plenty. If I go again, I'll stick to the tacos. read more

I am decidedly NOT a burrito person, but Burrito District may have changed that! Scrolling for something to be delivered tonight I glanced at their menu and saw the surf and turf. We ordered our burritos and waited for the driver to arrive. The food was still HOT when it arrived, smelled amazing before we even unwrapped them. The burrito was HUGE. and perfect. Burrito district has a LOT of menu options. I opted for the rolled chicken tacos and cheese fries. The portions are large. The rolled tacos came with a side of refried beans and rice. The tacos themselves were okay. Not sure why they top rolled tacos with cheese and lettuce, as all the toppings just fall off lol. They were a little dry. The bowl of cheese fries were HUGE and my favorite part of my order. I would go again, I just wouldn't get the rolled tacos. It was decent. With their vast menu I am sure I'd find something I loved. The offer fresh drinks as well, such as horchata. No one was inside when we ate here so it was peaceful. read more

The staff were nice, the restrooms were clean, and they have a nice selection. However, don't be fooled by the photos. My boyfriend and I thought the food was pretty disgusting. We tried the surf and turf nachos and the meaty quesadillas. We both ate less than half of our meals. The nachos have game day quality cheese and some sauce that I wasn't familiar with. I really tried to power through them, but couldn't. The quesadilla was so greasy he got an instant tummy ache. If you still decided to try this place. I'd get a burrito. read more

Let's start with the good. Service at the drive through was delightful and efficient. The food? We got Pastor Tacos, Fish tacos, and a steak and shrimp burrito. There was a strange slightly sour flavor on the pastor tacos. I immediately threw them away. That did not taste like any Pastor meat I've ever had. I was genuinely worried about food poisoning. The steak and shrimp burrito had no flavor, seasoning, or herbs. The rice had a hint of garlic, and the beans topped with cheese were ok. The nice fresh crispy tortilla chips were great. The burritos are really good, and a good size too. They may seem expensive, but the size and quality make it worth the money. We have been here several times and while we do not like any of their salsa the burritos stand out.v I would also pass on the Baja fish. I had it today and it just wasn't good to me. Stick to the chicken or the beef or the grilled shrimp. The fish didn't seem fresh, and the grease seemed a bit too old. So you might wonder why I am still giving 4 stars, simple. The service is always outstanding and despite not liking their salsa, or the fish, the rest is above great, which is why we continue to return. We do every time say we're going to bring our own salsa, but we never do. read more

The only thing I ever have missed about California is the burritos and the Cali Mexican food. California as a whole, blah. The Mexican food. 10 stars all day long. They are pretty true to the Cali burritos I remember in my time living in the communist republic of California. My only thing is, the meat just needs to be cut a bit more. The pieces of steak are big. Which is delicious, but doesn't remind me of a majority of the Cali burritos I've had. That being my only gripe. The burrito was put together well. Tortilla is definitely on point, and the presentation is good. The food though.... Man it's incredible. I am so glad they brought this here. It's all the best possible foods you could want in Cali, Carne Asada Fries, Cali Burrito, surf & turf burrito. All have been incredible foods I've tried here. Twice I've ordered the Cali Burrito and twice I have been extremely disappointed, so there won't be a third. Meat is room temp at best, shredded cheese is never melted, so today I asked for an add-on of Nacho Cheese to ensure I have MELTED CHEESE. They didn't add it... but sure charged me the extra money. If the meat was hot when placed in the burrito, the cheese would melt.... So they're serving room temp to cold meat. If you don't know how to make a certain burrito, just stop. Or maybe you have a staff issue that just don't give a shit. Either way, no more Burrito District for me. read more

Being from the west coast, I was excited to see a CA-inspired burrito restaurant. The menu is expansive and you can also customize your order if you want a specific burrito but with or without a certain ingredient, so that was nice. Our burritos were sizable and came with plenty of chips. However, the flavor of my burrito was really lacking, the amount of rice in both our burritos made them dry, and both of our burritos fell apart within just a few bites. Finally Cali-Mex in TX. Nothing wrong with Tex-Mex, but I'm a Cali girl and Cali-Mex is different. IYKYK. Anyway! We heard so many great things about this place and couldn't wait to try it out!! We both got the CA Burrito but added rice. I also got a fish taco because they are one of the few places that offers a fried (battered) fish taco. The meat is very flavorful and tender. I loved the crispiness of the fish taco, the sauce was good I just wished it were a little sweeter. The burrito was a good size I wished there was a little more meat inside. I like the idea of the fries but the fries were the battered/coated, I think regular crinkle cut fries would taste better in the burrito. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable which is a plus. The chips are fresh and the restaurant is clean! I will definitely visit again. read more

I like the idea of Chipotle, but I usually end up disappointed after eating it. Burrito District was a notch above. I ordered the California Burrito and enjoyed it. There were a couple bites of steak that were fatty end pieces, but other than that, it was an ideal lunch. I really loved that they had a drive-thru because my son had fallen asleep in the car on the ride over and I was assuming I'd have to wait outside until he woke up. I also really liked the chips that came with it. I don't live super close by, but I'd love to come back again and try the quesadillas. read more

I hate to see that the majority of the few reviews for Burrito District posted thus far were written by folks who didn't have the chance to actually try the food :\ Stopped by for lunch today, and it just takes one look at the menu to see that this is San Diego-style Mexican food, which means your best bets are gonna be surf n turf burritos, carne asada fries or nachos, and fish tacos. Ingredients are noticeably fresh, portions are pretty massive, and the service is enthusiastically friendly. Free churros for first-timers this month was a nice touch. Are there a few kinks to work out? Sure. The sodas were flat and had a weird aftertaste - easy fix. The guacamole was a bit overpowering in the carne asada burrito, which could be because it seems like it's got pico in it. And while the Lone Star burrito was very good, I couldn't help but think that there's something missing to round it out and give it that wow factor, though I can't put my finger on just what it is. All said, I'm glad it's been popular during its first week open, and we will absolutely be back! read more

Where do I begin? We had a chance to try out Burrito District before they open tomorrow thanks to Nicks Local Eats. Everything we ordered was beyond delicious. The carne asada was very tasteful and tender. The customer service was great. All portions were plentiful. They did not skimp on anything. The red salsa packed the heat! The green salsa was good too. Get both you won't be sorry unless you don't get any. Lol.... There is a nice gentleman working the front and he did a great job with getting us all taken care of. From taking our orders, getting us our food, and checking to make sure we didn't need anything multiple times. I don't know how he did it but he did. It was a full house. Yes I know it's not that big inside but it was still full. Not to mention there were a few families that stopped in to see if they were open yet and they did not turn them away. They don't have their liquor license yet so we were offered a free beer. And to top it off they had some amazing Churros given to us for dessert. Do yourself a favor and stop in to try them out. Tex Mex is fine but this is what I was raised on in Southern California, real cheese, refried beans, traditional salsa. First time trying this place and this will also be the last. My fiancé and I each had multiple hairs in our food. So naturally we threw $60 worth of food in the trash. That's disgusting. Why aren't y'all wearing hair nets? Complete waste of money and it's not even worth it. The taste of the food was cheap and unseasoned. Like it wasn't cooked fresh or it was done previously and they just reheated it. Just a bunch of cheese. And the little flavor that was there from cilantro and onions you have to pay extra for. The service wasn't even that great either. No welcome greeting just a worker standing there staring at us like a deer in a head light. We get there informing them we have a mobile order to pick up and no one can find it? There are much better 'fast' Mexican cuisine restaurants worth your time gas and money. The best tacos I've had in Texas! We just moved from Cali and have been on the hunt for good Mexican food! The menu has several options from surf-n-turf fries to plates and a la carte options! I had the baja and chicken taco, both were delicious and very filling! My hubby had the surf n turf burrito (definitely getting that again)! Finished off with a refreshing michelada!!
