Burrito Beach is a local Chicago based fast casual tex-mex style spot that is akin to Moe's, Chipotle, etc...for those outside of Chicago. This particular Burrito Beach sits on the corner of St. Clair and Ohio and was a welcome site as we wandered around looking for a quick, affordable and tasty lunch. They offer all the classics from bowls, burritos (of course!), quesadillas and tacos. They have a few pre-built options, or you can build your own from protein to base to toppings and beyond. Unlike the larger chains, they offer a few more protein options, including specialty options like shrimp, beyond-beef and grass-fed beef. Toppings options are slightly limited in comparison, but they are of better quality. Also, they next leveled the queso game with their red chile queso...don't question it, just get it, whether for dipping or an add-on. The space was small, but set up well for line structure, seating, condiments, etc...Clean and in good shape as well. Service was friendly and efficient. Overall, definitely enjoyed the meal and would certainly swing back by. Solid 4.5 for me!

CHAR-GRILLED CHICKEN BOWL

I stopped in for a quick work lunch on National Beach Day for their $6 chicken or veggie BYO bowl promotion! Overall I enjoyed the flavors and loved the customization options. I came at 11:45 and there wasn't too much of a line, I was in and out pretty quick! There were plenty of open table if I had wanted to stay and eat in. This was my first time at Burrito Beach so I was taking a little more time to look at all the ingredients and options. I did feel a little rushed when choosing the final toppings and wish I had picked a few more. Portion size was just okay, I think it could've used a little more but was still enough to be satisfied and patch over the rest with an afternoon snack. This location is convenient to my office location and I appreciated that it was pretty chill and not too crowded, which can be tough to find in this area. Overall I enjoyed my meal and will likely add burrito beach as an occasional stop on my lunch rotation.

Pretty impressed. My expectations weren't high but they really came through. Staff was nice and restaurant was clean. Ordered the hot honey chicken burrito (which was intriguing to me because I've never seen that at a burrito shop). I was not mad at all about my decision. I ate the entire thing that felt light and flavorful (the chicken was grilled which I appreciated). It could've used a little bit more sauce, but I'm a big sauce, girl. Overall good experience

BEYOND ® 'BEEF' BOWL

I came to eat because i was going to a concert before and I haven't had this in a while they we're kind of busy when I went in but I didn't mind have to wait I was in no rush at all. The staff was nice. I think it's a great amount of food for the price that it is. I don't think they really raise their prices since I last have them I was able to sit down and eat my food in peace which I love. I love that they also have a vegan option. It was extremely quiet in there which I enjoyed and I ate my food and then left.

Easily the best value in the city! I think I found my new go to breakfast spot. $5.49 for a well packed, custom burrito is hard to miss with. They also receive bonus points for making the eggs fresh to order rather than scooping them out of the warmer. Keep up the good work team!

Really quick bite at this location

My wife and I were visiting Lizzie at NW Hospital and stopped for a quick bite before visiting her. I was surprised to find vegan dishes, which I'm always open to trying. We both had the Avocado Tacos served with salsa and any other veggies you chose. We shared a side dish of rise and black beans. This is definitely a quick, healthy dinner plate to have, and they were very quick and courteous.

Within the old Gate area of Chicago Chinatown on Wentworth sit two Chinese (Cantonese) bakeries…read more Chiu Quon was by far the more popular of the two. It is newer and sharper looking. Staff spoke English well. Customers included many westerners as well as the expected Asians. Chiu Quon is cash only, same as Feida across the street. I was generally quite excited about what I might find here. The name Chiu Quon 超群 is a 50+ years old bakery in Hong Kong (English name Maria's bakery). I was wondering if it had any association. Alas, no. Be that as it may, this Chiu Quon is a 1986 institution in Chicago Chinatown. So, they deserve their own applause. I was on a mission per a friend's request to find 'chicken little cookies' 雞仔餅 or as CQ calls it, Phoenix Cookies. That was the first thing I bought. Alas, my friend reported they are oddly sweet instead of savory. Well, each has their own family recipes. I did side by side comparisons with Feida. The CQ pastries are a bit more refined, prettier, a reasonable filling to crust ratio, but also smaller, less filled, and $0.25 more. Items we bought: - Wife pastry 老婆饼, filled with wintermelon filling (no chunks) - Red bean pastry 豆沙酥, a smaller flat round type - Crystal gel pastry 香蕉糕. This old school soft steamed glutinous rice mochi roll is now commonly vanilla flavor. Theirs have a bit of red bean inside. Their version was quite sweet. - Red bean filled pastry bar with walnuts. We liked this item the most. Plump, well filled with red bean, the walnut has a balance to the sweetness, minimum crust. We bought more to bring home. All items were around $2.50. I honestly like both bakeries and wish we have lower cost options at home.

Prices seemed fair, and the space was clean - felt like your typical Chinese bakery. Overall, we left feeling full with our choices and it was a nice experience. Thanks, Chiu Quon!

Recommendations: Breakfast Meal…read moreBBQ Pork Bun Pineapple Milk Custard Bun We went to st. Anna for breakfast on Labour Day morning. We ordered the breakfast meal sets, which came with two mini pineapple buns and spam macaroni. We also ordered a breakfast plate with scrambled eggs and fried spam. The breakfast meals come with hot drinks and are only around $9, which is a great value. There are only 5 tables for dine in, first come first serve! The bakery also offers a variety of freshly made pastries and buns. Our favorites were the BBQ pork bun and the pineapple milk custard bun. Both were flavorful and fresh. It is a great spot for an affordable breakfast and some fresh bakery items.

Our family and extended family often ordered birthday cakes from them, and their mango cake was our favorite. When mangoes were in season, they used plenty of fresh mango in the cakes. Their cakes are always fresh, light, fluffy, and not too sweet. My daughter and I also love their individual cakes, especially the Black Pearl and Walnut Cake. Their pineapple buns and egg tarts are her favorites as well. Saint Anna has also been part of our daughter's childhood. When she was little, my husband used to bring her here before or after Chinese school in Chinatown on Sundays. Her go-to breakfast items were the Butter Bun, Ham and Macaroni in Soup, and Diced Ham and Corn in Cream Rice. As she got older, Curry Chicken with Potato became her favorite. She especially loved the potato cubes soaked in the delicious, mild curry sauce. She would always ask for more potatoes and less chicken, haha! Saint Anna is a family-run business, and Sara and Irene, the daughters-in-law, used to take care of the front of house. They were always so friendly and accommodating. After a 6-year hiatus, we finally returned one Friday recently when we happened to be in the area with a friend. Sara is now a co-owner, and it was wonderful to see her again. She immediately recognized us and was so warm and welcoming. She even asked me to relay her greetings to my sisters when she greeted us and again when we were leaving. Those little gestures made our return feel especially meaningful. We were still full from a big dim sum lunch, so my daughter picked up 2 Mini Pineapple Buns and 2 Paper-Wrapped Sponge Cakes, while I got a Red Bean Roll. Everything was fresh, soft, and delicious, and the total came to just under $8, really a great value. Our friend also purchased 2 Fried Sticky Rice Dumplings with Chicken. I had never really paid attention to their limited dim sum selection before, so that was a nice discovery. We love Saint Anna and will definitely be back whenever we're in the area.
