Nice standard big non-authentic burritos. The great thing about this place is their website, which lets you build your burrito and see how many calories you are about to consume. Its nice because then you think if you really need that extra guac or full fat sour cream. I mean the BBQ chicken bowl with white (as opposed to the more calorie red rice), FF black beans, all the salsas and veggies is a grand and tasty meal for under 500 calories. Ok wait, why I am talking about calories and not the food, because really the food quality and taste is about what you'd expect in a burrito place. Nothing mind blasting but better at non-Mexican restaurants. I guess it helps that I get a 10% discount for being a NMH employee so I continue to frequent this place when I need a good meal at a good price. read more

Busy place during lunch on weekdays. Burrito bowls are decent - the rice is a bit too sticky/moist for my liking, but the steak was tasty (although, a bit dry). They have your standard burritos, burrito bowls, and tacos. I haven't tried everything on the menu (really, just the steak on most occasions), but they do have shrimp and various marinades for their chicken, so a bit more variety than their neighbors (Chipotle, Qdoba). Chipotle is very close to here, and I think Chipotle is much better. The prices with regards to getting grilled veggies and extra meat is better at Chipotle, if that's what you always load your burrito with (I always do.) EDIT: Edited my review a bit to distinguish my claim on the slightly higher prices after the owner reached out to me for some clarification. Burrito beach makes a fresh, tasty breakfast burrito. My standard order is chorizo, egg, guacamole and hot salsa. It may not be the best breakfast burrito in the world but is pretty darn good. The burrito is made fresh while you watch. Eggs scrambled on a hot griddle with your choice of meat. Fresh, chunky guacamole added immediately before the burrito is rolled. Chipotle is better. The burrito I had was just bland! Even with copious amounts of hot sauce I just couldn't get it to taste like anything other than reheated chicken. I don't think I will eat here again as there are non in Minneapolis anyways, but if in Chicago, I certainly wouldn't eat here. I did however like the customer service. I just moved to the vicinity and was craving a burrito -- so was very glad to stumble upon this place! The chicken burrito was very generous in size, so much so that I could get another meal out of it. Burrito's are aight. Staff is very friendly. I didn't anticipate paying $10; Tall Grass Barbacoa burrito, horchata, +tax. Don't get me wrong, the burrito is tasty. The preparation layout is very similar to Chipotles/Qdoba except BB offers a little more variety. Burrito ingredients are very similar with exception of the spanish rice and the lemon flavor you get is from the onions as oppose to Chipotle's rice. I travel a lot for business and family and for several years when I'm in Chicago's Ohare Airport, it is standard for me and my family to get the Burrito Beach experience. Going there is considered more than just breakfast or lunch for my family. I work hard for my money and being a single mom, I tend to spend wisely on myself but especially my children. We are always greeted with a smile and eye contact by the staff, we don't feel rushed, the staff members are engaging and even the acting managers are just as accommodating as the staff, everyone is well trained. The place is spotless and looks well maintained. The cherry on top is that the food is fresh, healthy and full of flavor! No matter where I travel to through Ohare, Burrito Beach is the only stop for me. Five Stars. read more

We were looking for a quick, light dinner and Burrito Beach was directly across the block from our hotel so we tried it. Never again. The meat was weird (bland, dry, stringy), the salsa was flavorless and didn't even taste tomato-y, let alone salsa-ish, and "chips with a meal" refers to a small cellophane bag with 5 chips and some crumbs. This place is just OK. I am Mexican and I know Mexican food but I didn't expect authentic. The one thing that did stand out was the guacamole, it was very tasty. I had the burrito bowl with the Barbacoa. It was ok. It actually was a little tough which is not something I'm used to with Barbacoa. We try to hit a Burrito Beach every time we're downtown. My girlfriend loves it and we usually bring one home for her Dad. We hit this location for dinner the other night and were not disappointed. We've always gotten decently filled burritos, with very fresh tasting ingredients and an overall satisfying experience. Since we were sitting down in the place, for a change, I tried a Quesadilla. A bit smalled than a burrito, but flattened and grilled a bit, and still pretty darn good. This place was alright... If I was in the mood for Mexican fast food I'd stop by again. It's more along the Qdoba (vs. the Chipotle or Taco Bell) school of Mexican fast food. Service was good (despite being busy during the lunch hour). Hot sauce options were plentiful too, which I think is very important for your Mexican fast food joint. Chipotle= 3 star; Burrito Beach 4 star. Loved their Baja chicken burrito and would love to try cabo shrimp burrito next time. Burritos have expanded in popularity just as my waistline has expanded with their growth. Each new burrito must be tasted to be compared to the ones already in business. Burrito Beach was put to the test. I am part of the minority in saying that value Qdoba over Chipotle, but that is a debate for another review. I ordered the Baja Chicken Beach Bowl Salad and Chips with Guac. The toppings they offer is your run of the mill burrito prep line. Lettuce, salsa, onions, guac, cheese, sour cream, etc. I would rate the amount of meat they put on to be far less than Chipotle or Qdoba. The best part to me was their red onion and cilantro mix. WAIT, what?? Yea, I said it, it wasn't their meat (which should always be the star of any meal in my opinion), but a garnish. Their guacamole lacked some pop to it. They may have skimped on the lime juice, but either way, it was forgettable. So forgettable that I didn't even finish it. Their single restroom also seemed to have occupancy issues. They have a key at the counter for access, but there always seems to be a mystery customer in the bathroom. PEE BEFORE YOU COME. read more

This is a pretty impressive burrito place. It's very similar to Chipotle. However, they use all organic and fresh ingredients. It's indicated in the price however it is still a very good. I have stayed across from this place the last two times I was in Chicago and I've eaten there at least three times and the service is very consistent. Ugh, this place bugs. As most people said, the food is fine. It's the business and the people who work there that suck. Customer service: non-existent and/or surly. Usually both. Nutritional info: Nowhere to be seen (including its web site). Menu: Meh. The thing that got me is the extras. You mean I can order a side of beans as a side, but I can order a side of chicken, even though it's listed on the board right by beans. When I asked the guy working there's, he was totally rude but did end up selling me the side of chicken, which I put on a bed a spinach in my office. Odd fact, I once found a piece of clear sharp material in a burrito. I e-mailed the company and the president responded completely worried that I'd sue or something. I didn't care, I was just pissed that my lunch was ruined and wanted a refund. God, I hate this place. At least I can count on a modicum of customer service as Taco Bell or Chipotle. read more

The burritos are decent here, and you can get more variety of flavors, but the nearby Chipotle is still the better experience for your dollar. I had the BBQ Chicken burrito, and the flavor was pretty mediocre. Even after I finished eating, I was still felt hungry. I just didn't feel as full and satisfied as I have at Chipotle before.
