I've read about this place online & had to try it myself as my parents came here when I was a kid. It's an adorable little bar & restaurant. We visited on an afternoon and they were hopping. We stood by the bar and someone at a table waved us over as they were about to leave. As with most places up north, you need to bring your patience. One young guy was bartending and handling all the little tables, with some assistance from a woman (I'm presumed an owner). My guest and I each ordered a drink and their 'bear paw' which is a calzone they offer on Thursdays and Saturdays. Service was friendly and the place attracts a fun crowd. Before our food arrived, we saw food delivered to other tables and were happy with our decision to split the bear paw. It was huge. It was the bed calzone we've had - very light crust which was crispy and fried. Fillings were hot and delicious. I look forward to returning and snagging a spot at the bar - maybe we'll even see some wildlife out their viewing window. 5 stars.

Bear paws & old fashions.

We love their bear paws on Thursday & Saturday along with pretzels, onion rings & cheese curds. The place is warm & cozy, waitresses are friendly & efficient. We always enjoy seeing Linda too!!

Don't even go in, go to the stand-alone bar with a view of the marsh. It was fabulous. Anything old fashioned should be ordered for drinks--I love the sour with olives. Order the pretzel and the frog legs for sure. Anything else is good including the gluten free pizza--what a treat! Sitting around a campfire and driving on backroads made this the perfect place to end a day at the lake.

Friendly bar to locals and visitors unlike many where you feel awkward like you've walked into someone house !! Nice greeting. Can eat outside if you like. Lots of cleaning after people leave which made me comfortable. Friendly bartender even though busy. Yummy pizza (hard to find) ! We will be back. The perch sandwich looked really good...and the woman eating it verifies.

Giant pretzel! Yummmm

Good food and friendly. Visited on a Monday at noon and despite only having one person working everything was good.

I've been frequenting Timbers every Friday for their fish fry for the last 8+ years or so. To me,…read morethey have the best fish fry in the north woods by far, and it proves that you don't have to go to a fancy supper club to get good eats. The ambiance is a typical north woods bar, you can either eat at the bar or sit at one of the tables in their 'dining room' which houses the slot machines, dart board, and a few other games for kids. They have a wide selection of brews on tap, and have a full bar. The thing that I really love about this place is that everyone who works here is extremely nice. You can tell they love what they do, they're proud of where they live, and they have great senses of humor. Just overall great conversationalists. Now to the food, my favorite part: For appetizers, you HAVE to try their jalapeño poppers. They're the best poppers I've ever had. I believe they are coated in potato breading and they have an awesome zing to them. Never had a popper like it and I'll always compare others to the ones at Timbers. For lunch/dinner, their hamburgers are incredible as well. Super juicy smash burgers on a fluffy bun with the best French fries in the world. A perfect pick me up during snowmobile season or on a nice summer day. On Friday, this is THE spot for fish fry. My family and I have tried so many fish fry places over the year trying to find our favorite, and each time we stray we always leave disappointed wishing we would've just got Timbers instead. To me, what makes their fish fry so great is their portions are extremely generous, you get 4 pieces of fish, a handful of fries, two slices of buttered rye bread, coleslaw, tartar sauce, and a lemon wedge. The way their fish is prepared and battered is my favorite. It doesn't have that super thick, almost pancake batter like breading that tastes like a corn dog. Instead it's very lightly breaded so that it's fish forward with a nice crunch. This is just my preference, but to me, it's the best fish fry I've ever had. I genuinely love this place so much, but I must say that it's obviously super crowded and loud during the tourist seasons. If that bothers you, you can always call in a takeout order so don't like that deter you from checking this place out!

Really good pizza and tacos. That's all I have had so far but my wife and I will definitely be…read moreeating there again! Great upnorth bar atmosphere, very good service!
