It's been yeeeearrrrs since I've eaten Burns Original Bbq and I was highly disappointed that they were out of slice beef, baked potatoes AND their homemade links.....since the day before. Let me tell it, because they were out the same food items the day before they needed to get rid of their ribs which were tuff. I have to admit Burns has stiff competition when it comes to bbq in the Houston area, IF you're in their area absolutely get you yourself some but be mindful picking up and going is your best bet. Although they've remodel, NO DANG way will I EEEVER eat and dine since outdoor dining is the only option there. Too hot in Texas for that, to be completely honest Papa's commercial bbq, sides and sauce is better and one can dine in some nice a.c. Uncle Peewe can smoke better ribs, Aunt Pat can make better potato salad, sister Sheila makes ole school dirty rice better from scratch and B & W Meat Market never runs out of homemade links.

Ok so I heard that Burns was the truth but now I know this for a fact! First off the location leads to the authenticity. With years of history and a staff that is amazing your experience starts there. Next the food....the food is amazing. I had the three meat dinner with ribs, brisket, and sausage. Out of the three the ribs were #3 on the list but they are prob top 5 ribs I've ever had. So that tell you the level of amazing the food is. The brisket had a great smoke ring and an explosion of flavor from the bark. The house made sausage should be sold worldwide. The dirty rice is also amazing. I highly highly recommend going to Burns BBQ.

I'm from out of town, but this place made me feel right at home with their amazing southern hospitality. I ordered the rib sandwich along with potato salad, baked beans, and green beans,,,,,, everything was full of flavor and hit the spot. The food was fantastic, and the service made the whole experience even better. Definitely a spot I'll be coming back to whenever I'm in town. Highly recommend!

I had the ribs and brisket as the meat and I had the dirty rice and mac & cheese as my sides. The best part of my dish was the brisket and the sides. I'll be back to try more things on the menu. Oh my gosh, it is started over again. I just can't finish that movie.

2 Meat Baked Potato with total price.

I ordered the baked potato with 2 meats. The potato was a nice size. The 2 meats were chopped beef and sausage. The sausage was salty and the chopped beef was ok.

Okay, my nephew and niece wanted to take me out to eat in Houston where he's from. He raves about how Houston has the best bbq! I told him prove it because I've never heard of Burns all the times I've been to Htwn! Plus I'm from the Lockhart, Tx the BBQ capital of Texas! We meet up around 4:30pm and they were out of chicken, sausage and only had ribs and brisket. So I go with the brisket and ribs with baked beans and green beans. The only place to sit was outside under the covered patio with fans blowing. The fans usually keep flies away because smoke brings flies for some scientific reason and the only complaint I have is once we got our food the fans didn't stop the flies. The food was good and if I desired bbq while in Houston I'd get it to go. But still it ain't Lockhart!

One of Houston's Best BBQ joints! Forget the fancy fixin's, purple onions, and plush settings. BBQ is about a taste and feel. If it tastes good it makes you feel good! Period! I had not had this BBQ in over a decade, but recently started working within 15 minutes of the restaurant. The homemade sausage links and brisket are very tasty, own there own. When you add the BBQ sauce, the party really gets started! It comes together, perfectly! In the last three months, I've had their food at least five times, whether via delivery or a visit to the restaurant. The counter where you order is a small, dark, confusing space and the wait time can be a bit of a challenge, but I understand that they are very busy with online, phone, and regular orders. The food is worth the wait! Also, if you don't like eating outdoors, stay away or get it to go. The tables are outdoors, on a covered patio. The staff is not very talkative, but they are cordial and say "Thank you!," when they give you your receipt and your order. I'll be back, again and again!

So I'm here in Houston on some training and I met up with my best friend and he mentioned BURNS Original BBQ. We got there right before they closed up and by the way they close at 6pm and not 7:30 FYI. So My boy ordered the Loaded bake potato with the chopped up Hot Smoked Sausage and I had the RIBS, BEANS and POTATO SALAD. It's a shame we caught them at the end of the night but, I can honestly say it was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS and I'd give it a 8/10 being we got there late. I wanna try and get there earlier so I can get it a lot more fresh than what it was when I ordered this evening. I will definitely be coming up to get more BBQ from Burns for sure and I do recommend this place to all you BBQ lovers . Ribs were tasty with a yummy smoked flavor, the beans had sausage chopped up in them and very savory and the potato salad was a great compliment to the beans of course with a very light and flavorful taste. Overall it was all Delicious and made me want more !!!

I'm still tasting it now. Black Owned in the Hood of Houston and to see all types of races coming through the door with orders it's simply amazing. The customer service was top tier. The barbecue came with bark and I don't mean dog lol. Yes tender, moist, and well seasoned. To know that after over 20years it's family owned and the like of Anthony Bourdain stood where I stood and ate the same food. That speaks volumes to black excellence. I'm starting to see some of the best food is in the hood. I would say compared to other places the price point was high. But then again you could taste the love in the food from all the aunties and uncles who had stirred the pot so nah the price was right lol. Now the Potato Salad was missing something I like mine more salty than sweet. The outside eating area was cute and quaint. Burns Original BBQ is a staple in the community, but in my humble opinion the quality has went down a bit. I do not know if it is the generational change, Pitmaster or what. This is not a bad thing but when you are use to years of perfect BBQ then your tastebuds notice differences right away. They have a sign that says check your order before you leave and heed the warning. Even though I was hungry and grabbed my bags and departed, when I got home I realized that the messed up one of my orders and I was like arrghh. My mouth was watering for the ribs and when I started to devour them I noticed the lack of smokiness flavor. I think the ribs were rushed and the pit sweated a bit due to decrease in temp. I will come back for another go around to confirm my suspicions. The 2 meat baked potato was ok that being the meat was on point, but the potato did not seem too fresh in taste and texture. I would say the chicken links were good, but that was part of the missing order. Will revisit for another taste test.

Sliced beef sandwich and dirty rice. Sauce, pickles, and onions came on the side.

There are not many places to park so you may have to get creative. I was lucky to find a parking spot around back. I was there on my lunch brake and ordered the Sliced Beef Sandwich with a side of Dirty Rice and a Coke. The rice had a good flavor to it and the brisket was sliced thick and piled high on the bread. It had a nice smoke ring, good flavor, and juicy. The pickles, onions, and sauce came on the side. Everything was served in a brown paper bag and there were picnic tables under a roof outside with fans to keep it cool. They did forgot to add the Dirty Rice with my meal, but fixed it right away once I brought it to their attention. This place is set up like a food court where you get your food and take care of yourself. There are no Servers to wait on ya here. That is alright with me. The food was extremely good and I would come back.

    Outside POV.... RIP Mr. Bourdain
    Ben M.

Came here as a recommendation from a coworker and boy do I tell you. Burns brings a whole different level of BBQ that I have ever experienced. I got the loaded meat baked potato... OMG!! Definitely 2 meals and was well worth the price. Service was good and yes the place was PACKED. So let it be written... So let it be BBQ!!!

My wife and I had had a great experience at the Pit Room previously, so brought the rest of my family here to experience. I found the food to continue to be really good, especially the fatty brisket. Stopped by around 11 am, and there was still parking in the dedicated surface lot next to the building. The smell of bbq wasn't as prevalent as last time. Once walking in, you stand in line to first order your meat...which is immediately sliced in front of you. You then move further along to ask for your sides, including as many slices of plain white bread as you want. My daughter treated us this time, so didn't record prices, but thought it was reasonable. I liked the sliced brisket a lot, along with the side of elote corn and mac n cheese. The free toppings bar had the various pickled vegetables that really cut through the fattiness of the meat. Drinks were all self serve, with a water station and soda fountain. Probably ordered a bit less than expected for 4 people, but was happy that there were no left overs, and left not completely stuffed, since we had a long day ahead of us. By the time we left a little after noon, there was both a wait for tables and parking. We had come at the right time.

The brisket on the other hand was a little dry and I wish it had more flavor, but the sauce made up for it. We also got the Mac n cheese with brisket on top. They really did not skimp out on the brisket. It was very delicious and the Mac n cheese was perfectly creamy and decadent. They also pickles, pickled jalapeño, and onions on the side which really cut the fat from the meat. The coleslaw that we got was okay though. Overall, it was a great experience. The only flaw was the bacon fat I bit into which was a large pieces (yuck) someone who's a texture girl I would be skeptical to order it again. Is perfect alone/ without the bacon. The potato salad ($4 small) was a good cool balance. The jambalaya wasn't much of what I expected, rice a tad overcooked for my liking. I'd prefer either the Mac n cheese or potato salad. We usually don't eat pork ribs, but the appearance was too beautiful not to try. I was happy to hear that Pinkerton do sell them by singles for guest who just want to try them for taste, like us. I've tried those deemed "the best," including Salt Lick in Driftwood and Killen's. So how did CorkScrew measure up? In addition to the beef rib, we tried the moist brisket, pulled pork, and sausage. We also tried several sides, including those recommended in the Michelin review: potato salad, mac and cheese, smokey beans, and coleslaw, and I picked up a peach cobbler, as well. The beef rib: STELLAR. This was outstanding with its flavorful bark and an impossibly tender texture that truly melts in your mouth, unlike any other beef rib I've ever had. Easily the very best beef rib, without a doubt. The brisket was delicious, as well: tender and flavorful. The sausage was nothing special... on par with sausage elsewhere, as was the pork. As for the sides, I've never been a fan of beans, but since the Michelin review specifically mentioned them, I gave them a try. I'm a fan! I would definitely order these again. Their smokiness is gently tamed by a touch of sweetness. The rest? Very average. The mac and cheese tasted like the stuff I had in my elementary school cafeteria - very un-special. The potato salad was salty and was missing any semblance of potato chunks. The texture was oddly like lumpy mashed potatoes. But the other surprise for me: the cobbler. This was simply and divinely perfect with crisp, sweet buttery crumble. A wonderful way to end a hearty meal. I'm so glad I ordered our food online for pickup. When I arrived at 1pm, the line was wrapped around the building. Pickup was very easy: I texted them when I arrived, and they replied when they were ready for me to go in and retrieve it. But even if there wasn't a line, I would never eat there: the restaurant is too divey for me: very rustic, picnic-like feel both inside and out, and it was uncomfortably warm and humid (again, inside and out.) The staff was very friendly and cheerful. Glad i tried it, and when i get a hankering for a good beef rib, this is definitely where I'll be getting it!

We ordered sliced brisket with mac n cheese, coleslaw, chopped brisket sandwich, and a pecan pie. The sliced brisket was so juicy and tender with so much charred flavor. The meat was cooked to perfection and got me wanting more! The mac and cheese wasn't too overwhelming and actually complemented the meat. As for the brisket sandwich, I thought it was good in terms of the meat, however, I must say it reminded me of sloppy joes too much. If I had to choose, I prefer getting the brisket sliced over chopped. As for the coleslaw, it was fresh and not too overwhelming with the mayo, which I love. The ratio of cabbages and carrots were evenly distributed. Lastly, the pecan pie was not too sweet and really soft yet crunchy. Overall, I would love to come here again, it was honestly one of the best!

Don't follow the menu!!! You can order any amount that you want. The ambiance is spacious...,they have a bar area and plenty of seating so you do not feel overcrowded. Parking is ample and no issue at this location. They do not sell Nachos, I just buy the meat for my homemade Nachos. lol.

The brisket itself was good, but next time I'd definitely request lean meat. The jalapeño sausage was the standout for me -- really flavorful and highly recommended. The cornbread and potato salad were both solid sides and complemented the meal well. The biggest downside was the BBQ sauce selection. The sauces leaned way too sweet for my taste. I tried the coffee bourbon sauce and personally did not like it at all. Overall, some really good food items, but the sauces were a miss for me.
