I honestly come to Burnett's only for the fish sauce wings they're that addictive. This is the type of spot to just get your food, eat and leave. (You have to eat it fresh from the fryer) The flavor is bold, savory, and once you start eating them, it's hard to stop. That said, they can lean a bit too sweet at times almost to the point where it tastes like straight sugar but somehow it still works and keeps me coming back. We came on a Friday. The place was packed but we wanted to dine in since we drove from Seattle to try the wings and they would go cold by the time we returned home. When we informed the bartender we would like to dine in - she seemed doubtful. I offered that we could squeeze into two empty seats at the end of the bar - she immediately said no without any explanation why. Eventually she found us a seat but that was a very strange, off putting situation. On top of the poor service, the food came out after about an hour. Granted, the bar was packed but wings shouldn't really take that long...We had some canned beers while we waited because they were not serving beer on tap (at a bar!) The actual food was not good. I can't believe I heard so many good things about the wings. They were dry. The fish sauce wings were drenched in sauce so they were okay but the other wings were so incredibly dry. The onion rings were so burnt tasting as well but they didn't look burnt. Honestly, the chicken was just okay and food is overpriced -- I feel like it's a bit overhyped. One thing that threw me off: they only use plastic cups, no glassware. A guest and her friend were about to leave with their drinks (looked like water and a nonalcoholic beverage), and the owner stopped them, saying it was illegal. That said, the overall experience was mixed. It's a smaller pub with walk-up-and-order service (no table service), and the smell of fried oil was pretty strong the entire time. The atmosphere felt very dark and a bit dingy. Service unfortunately wasn't great. The owner came across rude and unprofessional, which honestly matched what I had already heard from others. I asked if they could make a green tea shot and was met with attitude and a rude look, being told, "We only do REGULAR shots," in a way that felt unnecessary. If this review was just about the food I would give it 5 stars Their fish sauce wings are the best I've ever had the flavors are well balanced not too fishy and not too sweet like other fish sauce wings I've had. All the other flavors of the wings are amazing the wings are big and juicy. I will say that if you are dinning in expect to wait over 45 - 60 minutes even when it's empty on a weekday when they first open. The wings here are really amazing. Perfectly crunchy and moist and are very large! I would say however that the butter wings and the salt and pepper wings are very close in taste, I almost couldn't tell them apart, so I wouldn't recommend getting both if you're looking for variety but they were delicious either way. The cheesy bacon fries are also absolutely huge and delicious. You get ample ranch with your wings and the ranch is the perfect butter milk ranch. The staff is very friendly. However, this is a dive bar setting. I did love that they were playing 2000s hip hop and R&B when we were there, that was bonus points for me! There is street parking here :) read more

We order our food and grab the only table that's available. 40 minutes passes and still no food. I went here while running some errands around Renton, on recommendation of a few friends saying the fish sauce wings are fire, so I got the 6 pieces for myself to try. Food took a bit of time to be served, but it was worthwhile to wait a bit. In addition to the 6 wings with the sauce of choice, there was also jalapeños and sauteed onions, as well as celery and ranch sauce on the side. Those are just nice garnishes, as the main focus of the dish is the wings. The fish sauce was a bit subtle but still evokes hints of savory and sweet. I loved the spiciness from the jalapeños, as well as the crispiness of the wings. However, 6 pieces for $12+ is a bit steep and the value just isn't there. I was barely full from the order, and likely will only be full by ordering the 12 pieces which is $21+. This is not really a place to casually order, given the prices, but it is still a worthwhile place to try. There are many other places of bar food that can be done for cheaper, but I am not sure if it will be as good as this one, perhaps. read more

Some of my coworkers requested to come here to try it out, since we wanted to see what the hype is all about with the fish sauce chicken. You guys ever been to a place where you think about their food from time to time? Uhhhh, that's how I feel about this place. Holy mother of $*%^*, it was finger licking good! Once you enter the establishment, you will need to order the drinks and food at the bar. Remember, you are not here for the customer service. Don't expect any fancy mixed drinks here, it's like beer or straight up shots. :-) Tons of alcohol, pick your poison. I ordered the margarita, and let me tell you the owner/bartender was heavy-handed on the liquor. This, my friend, is not a bad thing. Haha The wait for the wings is pretty long, it took about an hour for the food to come out which is fine, because time went by pretty quick as we were catching up. My favorite is actually hands down the fish sauce wings, it was so flavorful. Has a nice tangy and sweet taste to it. So good when you dip it in the thick ranch that they have.
