My experiences in working with Tom from sales, Tiffany from customer service and Randy from field operations was always professional and pleasant. Unfortunately, other Burkett's employees, most of Burkett's work processes and the clear disregard for my time and property will always weigh heavily on me before hiring or recommending Burkett's Pool Plastering in the future. The following is just a slice of my experience in dealing with your company:
My pool remodel project started with me acquiring multiple quote from pool remodelers like Burkett's. In the end, two quotes raised to the top, Burkett's and Adam's. I was very impressed with Burkett's salesman, Tom, and the quote was slightly less, so I contracted with Burkett's. I worked with Tom to finalize the contract requirements and price. I signed the contract and then the waiting started . Damage to property: After waiting over one month, I finally received word that someone (I believe his name was Mark) would be coming to drain my pool. Although the worker succeeded in draining the pool, he never turned off the auto pool fill which continuously dumped water for hours, at my expense, into the draining pool. Without asking first, the worker tied the pump to a faux stucco support to my pergola near the pool. As the pool drained and the pump became heavier, the rope tied to the support caused the support cap to separate from the column causing me another expense to reattach, caulk and paint the cap/column. Another instance, again without asking first, the worker stuck a Burkett's sign in my front yard, penetrating the landscape fabric and causing my homeowner's association to send me a violation notice. Commercial advertisement in my HOA is not authorized. Missed work and forced to use personal vacation time: Late afternoon, the day before the demo crew was to arrive at my home, I received a call from Tiffany informing me the crew was coming. I requested more than 12 hours' notice in the future but was politely told that she cannot provide me a detailed schedule because she does not know the schedule until the afternoon of the day before the work. The inability of Burkett's to provide me an advanced schedule of work to be done caused me to miss work without advanced notice to my employer. This wasted several hours of my vacation time because Burkett's did not afford me the opportunity to properly schedule my work around their schedule. These last minute notifications, and in some case no notifications, occurred at every stage of the remodel.
3] Unauthorized tampering of irrigation system and oil drainage in front of my home: Continuing with the demo crew they worked hard all day to get the job done and for the most part, did a good job of cleaning up their mess around the pool. Unfortunately, the compressor they used leaked a large puddle of motor oil at the entrance of my driveway which was never cleaned up. Additionally, other equipment/vehicles also leaked oil onto the street in front of my house which, to this day, is still not cleaned up. Both of these are very unsightly and not environmentally friendly. The crew cost me money once again when, without asking, (clearly a trend), the English speaker unplugged my irrigation system in order to recharge his personal iPhone. Had he asked, I could have directed him to the many other outlets available around the yard that weren't being used. Instead, the worker caused me an extra payment to call out my landscaper to reprogram the irrigation system. Wrong tile installed: I arrived home late in the day when the tile installers were just finishing up their job. The tile looked nice however, it was the wrong tile. Randy responded to my call and we discussed retiling versus a discount. I opted for the discount in price and kept the incorrect "already installed" tile. Now, less than two months later after the job is completed, the grout on the wing walls is already cracking and falling out. I guess I need warranty work already. Worker taking shortcuts: Onto equipment/plumbing - Again, without any advanced notice, a worker showed up unannounced and installed my new pump and light. Upon completion, I read the manual left on the pump and quickly realized the pump was installed wrong. I showed the mistake to Randy who acknowledged the issue and said he would get it corrected. Clearly, if I can read a page in a manual and see the pump was installed wrong, the "experienced" installer should have seen the same. This made me believe the installer was taking shortcuts in his work without regard to the money I was paying and expecting for professional work. Late completion date of project: Pool finish - we received exactly what we asked for which is a good thing, right? Yes and no. Yes, we got what we paid for, no because we contracted for completion by May 26, 2017. Instead, the pool was not completed until mid-July 2017. We missed two major holiday celebrations. There's more but this is all that will fit. read more
