I should have visited Yelp first. I hired this company to redo my pool. The process was pretty straight forward and I paid on time at each phase per contract. The only way to say it is the pool looks poor. trowel marks, uneven coloring and texturing, and no sign of the 2k upcharge for oyster shell(sparkle). Once final payment was made they have not made any attempt to revisit the project or address the poor craftsmanship. Ive obtained quotes for the repairs and I will pursue restitution/resolution. Daniel Denner and Roger (owner) are some of the most unprofessional businessmen I've ever met. Roger is quick to come out and give quotes, never to be heard from again. Daniel, my contact person for my pool replastering is no help either. My pool looks WORSE than it did before they replastered. It's dark and has white spots all over it. I complained from the beginning and their solution was to put acid in the pool which did not help at all. I paid close to $8,000 and my kids don't even want to go in the pool now. It's so dark that it's hard to see the bottom at night. Daniel and Roger stopped returning calls and texts, save yourself the headache and don't use this company! I'm so mad I didn't read their YELP reviews and their Better Business Complaints before hiring them. My pool pump also blew out during this process because of all the plaster dust in the pool (had to replace for $3500) of course they took no responsibility for that either. I paid $8000 for new plaster and pool pump. While watching the pH and calcium levels, keeping them in spec and brushing the plaster 2 to 4 times daily for the first month, the white paster soon developed scaling and superficial cracks throughout. The pool tech, Armando, came to view the plaster, 3 months after making the first complaint. He told me the problem was with the mixing of the plaster and needed to be redone. After talking to the CEO, Roger, he changed his story, and told me I needed "alkaline dust remover". Of course there is no such thing. I was laughed at while attempting to purchase said dust remover at Leslie Pool Supply. In spite of their poor plaster job, I was able to sell my house. No thanks to Custom Pools. I consider my self fortunate. I was looking at expensive litigation to remedy the problem. Meaning, Custom Pools would not honor their warranty otherwise. If I could give zero stars I would. These guys were a mid-level bid for us, but Scott seemed to be interested in having our business and was one of the few sales people that brought samples to look at. Where did it go wrong? Well, let's see. They drained our pool and rather than the 2-3 weeks to get the whole thing done, we ended up waiting almost 9 weeks in total. No communication at all throughout the process. Nobody called to let us know when they were showing up, nobody told us when we should get the inspection scheduled...nothing. No matter how many times I called, I would get the same response....he'll call you back and let you know. This never happened. In terms of quality of product. We ordered the mini-blue pebble in tahoe blue with glass. The color is fine but this is nowhere near the size of the mini-pebble. In fact, it's the size of the regular pebble. Contract says mini....pool is finished in regular. Quality of workmanship. The tile guys are absolutely fantastic...no question. They are amazing. The rest of the crew, not so much. I've got discoloration (gray spots) where they didn't acid wash enough on the steps. I've got warps and wobbles in walls. I'm not expecting this thing to look like glass, but its not exactly the best workmanship i've ever seen and to see large chunks of gray area where it wasn't acid washed properly is pathetic. Today, after two months of having the pool we noticed there are large chunks of plaster coming off the drain in the spa. On top of that, we had to call out a leak detection team because water was seeping into the lawn. Guess what? Leak in the main light of the pool and just shoddy workmanship on the spa drain. Did they fix? No...we've called. No response. Buyer beware. These guys are not good pool people. read more

This company HANDS DOWN is amazing! They promise and DELIVER!!! Scott Pike was our awesome salesman AKA: Decorator!! He helped pick pebble color and tile... and he totally nailed it! Our supervisor- Stephen was "on the spot" and always returned our calls. Our Foreman- Armando was just as accessible and walked us through the re-plaster every step of the way! Best pool building experience EVER!!! Although this is only the second pool I've had built, the differences between the two builds were night and day. Roger and the Custom Pools team, in conjunction with KL Enterprizes, simply did everything correctly and to the highest standards. They took my design, ran with it and required zero additional input or "hand holding" from me. Conversely, my prior build, by a company I will not name, was horrid! I had to micromanage every single phase of the construction! That absolutely was not the case with Custom Pools. I could have left for a 45 day vacation and come back to a pool constructed perfectly! There's not actually a "Customer Pools & Remodeling" company, and they are actually "R.O.W. Customer Enterprises, Inc." Terrible follow-through on fixing their installation defects. For several years I have been trying to get them to follow through with mixing their mistakes. They agreed to fix the problems, but never follow through. Always I get excuses, like just wait until the end of the season, or wait until it warms up, or wait until I'm back up in Sacramento. The problem is they 'hire' family, who doesn't have to perform well in order to keep their jobs. The plaster job was terrible -- too thin in some areas (revealing the gunite), and mottled in other areas. My new plaster job looks like it is 30 years old. They tried to blame the manufacturer of the plaster, but in comparing friends pools (same age), with mine, their plaster looks great (different installers). At the end of the day, they fail to live up to their responsibilities and fail to follow through on their promises. read more

This company is a joke. If you go with them you better hope that your pool turns out great because if it doesn't you will get no resolution. All they do is lie and make up excuses. My moms pool is a complete splotchy mess. It was finished last May and after her allowing them to dump acid to try to fix their mistakes, they will not honor a redo. They told her last summer that she would get a new plaster job in October. October came and nothing, so I called and talked to Armando and he said the owner Roger said they had a few more pools to finish up and then she would be next. That never happened. She paid her money and they are now taking new customers instead of fixing her pool that they screwed up got paid for already before the pool was even filled. She should of been a priority before taking new customers. They admit to fault in person, but never nothing in writing. All of her emails to Roger have gone unanswered. Roger has not once reached out to her or even had the decency to come out and take a look and she has sent countless emails to him. He is a sad excuse of a business owner. They are snakes that just disappear if there are issues. She is now having problems with her equipment after all the acid they dumped. She now has sand showing and it still looks terrible. If anything, it looks worse. Not only does the plaster show tons of trowel marks and footprints, it has a crack the length of her entire bottom step that they said will repair itself. She also has a crack on the side wall. She will be taking them to court and filing a complaint against their license. They already have several other complaints and if we had checked them out properly, she would not have used them. They are immoral and have no integrity. She has not seen or heard from this so called owner Roger once. She has pretty much begged him to come look and no response back. We even went in person and the secretary said she never knows when he will be there and It's different daily. What kind of owner runs a business like this? He's not much of one. My hope is that people thoroughly check this company out and think twice before using them. As you can see by their reviews, that if there are any issues they never hear back. I think what's important when choosing a company is not only how great it turns out, but seeing how they handle and resolve issues that may arise because it happens and how they handle the situation says a lot about their character. We have noticed the grout is coming off on spots around the hot tub and the steps are discolored now I called Daniel back in April and he said he would put me on the schedule to get someone out to look at it. In 2009 we contacted Custom Pools and Remodeling. We had a rental that needed the pool replastered. We dealt with Scott, very nice guy, but did he sell us a load of goods. We just wanted a low maimtence pool as it was a rental. We just wanted a white plaster, but no he assured us if we went with a darker color it would not show any flaws! What a load of crap. These pictures 3 years after the job was completed. When I contacted them they tried to blame it on pool care. We had always used their perferred pool care professional. The water looks better, using less chemicals, and my pool guy couldn't be happier!! We are delighted with our pool renovation. Custom Pool helped us take a 1970's pool and upgrade it to look better than many new pools today. My salesman Scott was so helpful. He helped me take my wish to retain the custom rock around my pool and choose complementary tiles and pebble finish. It's beautiful and such a treat for the many parties and barbecues we've held with family and friends. The process was easy, professional, and efficient from the start. Within just a few days the workers drained the pool (according to city regulations), removed the old, thinning plaster, patched chips in the old stairs and other areas, applied the pebble tech finish, tiled, and then filled once the finish had set. The workmen were courteous and tidy, keeping the dust and debris to a minimum and carrying everything out. I just had this company come and do a pool re-plaster for me in June 2014. I had three companies provide quotes, and Custom Pools was the least expensive by a LOT (primarily because they had some excess inventory in a particular pebble finish and tile. I checked their contractor's license and bond history. Everything looked good. I went to the Better Business Bureau website and looked at them there. There were some complaints, but it looked like they made amends. So I hired them. The estimator, Chris, was friendly and knowledgeable. He got me a quote back quickly. I wouldn't sign unless they committed to completing the work by a certain date. They made that date (actually were ahead of schedule.) The workers were clean. The workmanship is very good. I am very happy with the job that they did and would recommend them for a pool remodel. read more

Custom Pools & Remodeling did a great job on the resurfacing of our pool. Scott assisted us in the color choice for the "StoneScapes" pebble finish in Tahoe Blue. He also assisted us in deciding to upgrade our pool pump to a more efficient product which included re-plumbing and putting everything on a remote control activation. The decision to replace the equipment has lowered our PG&E bill. Their ability and willingness to negotiate the pricing was one of the many reasons we selected Custom Pools after getting many bids. Stefan and his crew, led by Armando were professional, timely, efficient, friendly and very knowledgeable throughout the entire process. They informed us along the way as to what was happening and how to maintain this beautiful pool. Each day the crew completely cleaned the yard, leaving nothing behind for us to do. The job was completed within a couple weeks and Custom Pools does not use sub-contractors. Once the initial job was done which included replacing our lights as well Stephen and Armando came back several times to adjust some minor things but more importantly they wanted to make sure we were completely satisfied with the end product. We have used our spa and pool more now than the 10 years we have lived here due to their suggestions for making our system user friendly and most of all BEAUIFUL! We have had several parties at our house this summer and have had nothing but rave reviews from our friends as to how beautiful it is and now that we added a salt-chlorine generator your skin feels so good when you get out, without the chlorine smell! Custom Pools doesn't try to sell you equipment or upgrades just to make money. They work within your budget to optimize your system and if something didn't need to be replaced they told us that. Our tile was still in great condition it just needed to be cleaned. This alone saved us quite a bit of money and came out beautiful, looking brand new actually.. We can't thank Custom Pools enough for all that they did. Thank goodness Scott was at the Modesto Home Show last year and was so friendly and willing to spend time with us to explain the process and some basic costs. At the start of the job everything seemed great. They were very professional and were also the cheapest around. Everything changed when they actually started the job. Their workers would makes mistakes and/or "forget" to follow certain steps and then I would get stuck paying for their accidents. Whenever I voiced my displeasure and said "i shouldnt have to pay for your mistakes" they ALWAYS replied with "well these things happen" or "these types of issues are to be expected". They appear professional and also do good work, but dont expect to pay what your original contract was quoted at. They are the cheapest around because you will end up paying for their mistakes. read more

We would not recommend Custom Pools & Remodeling to anyone. On Jul 24, 2020 we hired this company, License # 810897 to replace our patio with concrete and a Cool Crete finish. They started the work on August 24, 2020 and finished on Nov 24, 2020. James Newell was fine with the concrete. It just should not have taken three months to do the job. The guy who put on the Cool Crete did a terrible job. The paint/concrete didn't cover the concrete base evenly and some of the peaks left shadows. It would cut your feet if you walked on it. We fired them and then settled what was owed. We hired Burkett's to redo the finish. read more

First they did not plug up my automatic pool filler and I had chosen a dark bottom pool. So you have to fill up from the bottom and fill to the top. When they did not plug it up it ran water down the side of the pool to the center and left a humungous stain in the bottom of my pool. I knew the dark coloring can vary but all of my stairs turned white. I contacted the company and they took no responsibility for the marks and stains in my new plaster job. I know people may think this is just one review and who am I but I own 3 homes with pools and our company has several rental properties so I know how work should be done and accountability for mistakes. this company has no accountability for their work. They just want to take your money before the pool is filled and move on to the next one. read more

We recently had our pool re-plastered by Custom Pool, Ceres, CA, and we were BLOWN AWAY!!! by the results. We have lived in this home for 26 years, and we have never seen the pool looking like his - it is ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. Much of the credit must go to Scott Pike who basically re-designed our entire pool. Where other companies who bid on the job asked we what we wanted, only Scott, who has a GREAT eye for design, told us what we needed - and he was right on the money.
