Burger Theory may be good, but crappy service ended our attempt at eating there... Staying at the HIE and BT is the featured restaurant on site. It looks like a real cool place... Nice sports bar vibes, solid looking bar area, good tap selection, and solid menu. That unfortunately was the extent of the "good"... We sat at the bar, waited for about 10 minutes, and no one came around for service... One employee walked to the register and fiddled around for a moment, then walked back to the kitchen. He didn't acknowledge the few people sitting at bar, but rather just ignored everyone. After that interaction or lack there of we left... Bad service = No business. read more

Ok so - this was gonna be a 4 because I asked for the jalapeño ranch with my fried pickles and I didn't get it. But you know what? These damn fried pickles were VERY GOOD just plain!!! The batter was seasoned very very well. Honestly these had to have been the best fried pickles I've ever had. No cap. I initially asked for the pretzel appetizer but they were out. I also got the Classic Burger just as it comes. It was good, I liked the KGB (killer good burger) sauce. I mean it's nothing earth shattering or anything. Ketchup mayo relish seasoning if I had to sum it up briefly. Stopped here 2 years going through Indianapolis and have great memories of that burger! Much quieter this today with one very kind waitress taking care of us and the other table. Burger and fries still are great. Food served hot and fast -- a few mistakes. Waitress said it was a new chef -- raw onion instead of "grilled" and very well done for medium but the classic burger is generous and has a great sauce. Good lunch. read more

My nephew and his wife told my sister and I about this place over the Thanksgiving holidays. They said the food was really good. It has been on my To Try Next list that long. I was able to get my sister to go out for lunch with me today. She is self employed and works hard, therefore rarely available to go out for lunch. Plus today was nasty weather wise but we went anyway. The restaurant is located inside the Holiday Inn on the ground floor. From the main entrance, proceed past the front desk and it is located on the left side. We arrived after 11:30 am and had the place to ourselves until dessert time. But I blame the weather for that. It was positively brutal outside today. This restaurant has a huge bar area along one side with separate tables next to a semi transparent wall. Opposite this area are huge counter high tables for groups and next is a recessed area more intimate with booths. Much more seating is in the rear of the restaurant. Instead of a signature burger from the menu, I ordered a "Build Your Own Burger" where all the different ingredients along with the amount of calories is listed conveniently on the menu. I ordered the Pretzel Bun with Beef in a Single Size. Six different kinds of cheese are available to order as well as various veggies and sauces. The burger was excellent! The best burger I've had in some time. I ordered fries with mine and they were okay. My sister ordered the Crispy Fish Sandwich and Onion Rings. She got two extremely thick portions of fish on her sandwich. I was jealous and will be ordering that the next time I visit. She ate the entire sandwich. I sampled a few onion rings and they were delicious. For dessert they serve their four selections in little single serving jars. She ordered the Apple Crumb and I selected the Brownie Sundae. I was visiting Indiana for a conference and heard Burger Theory was pretty good. I was the pics on Yelp and thought the burgers were unique and looked amazing. I went with my boyfriend for lunch and the restaurant was completely empty. I was somewhat concerned and we went in and had a seat. The restaurant is in a the Holiday Inn, but I did not let that deter me. We ordered the buffalo wings and they came out hot, but tasted like they just come out of the bag. The celery and ranch was great. Overall, it had a hotel food. No less no more. If you are staying in the hotel or surrounding hotels with no transportation. It's an option. read more

I had a work lunch here and really enjoyed my experience. They have a variety of signature burgers and a build-your-own burger option, as well as both vegetarian and gluten free options. Since I was here last, they expanded their menu to include non-burger options like tacos and wraps. Our server was kind and attentive, filling our water many times and answering all our questions. I'm updating my review after two years. First thing first, a lot of Yelpers are complaining that the service is very slow, food takes too long. If you are reading this review, do yourself a favor and order ahead over the phone, they do it for you! I usually call them and order about 30 minutes before I arrive there and by the time I arrive they have it ready for me. This is the best way to enjoy their food without getting frustrated about the speed. I don't know when this happened but they made a major change to the menu and pricing. 2 years ago burgers were around $5-6 and sides were separate for $3. Now, burgers come with a side of fries and the price was around $12-13. It's inflation, I guess, although the % increase seems a lot higher than other restaurants. read more

I came in with a party of 6 at around 8pm on a Saturday and it was a very busy night for the one server on the floor. It seemed like she was quite overwhelmed and did warn us the service was going to be a bit slow, however since we were staying at the hotel, it wasn't the biggest deal for us. Aside from the slower than usual service, our server was very nice, apologetic and made it up to us with a couple of over deliveries in our drink pours so that was nice. I ordered the Sriracha sirloin cooked medium and it was quite tender and the vegetables still had a bit of a nice crunch bite to them. Stayed in the area for work and this was among the very few choices for food in the area. This was located in a nearby hotel. Atmosphere was pretty good for a hotel restaurant. Burger was pretty good, the fries were however extremely salty and the queso was kind of clumpy like it had been sitting in a pot cooking all day and not stirred. Service was great, I would give it another shot if in the area again but wouldn't go out of the way to eat here. read more

The 1/3 burger was a little small but when u add fries loaded with cheese and bacon for only $1.50 with a side of ranch it was just enough food. My husband had the stuffed burger, he asked for medium, it was well, but still tasted delicious. The onion rings were big and the breading didn't fall off,) Over all, I would go back. First things first: Burger Theory is located within a hotel (the Holiday Inn Indianapolis Airport, to be exact). I'm just telling you to save you some trouble finding the place, and so you won't be driving around like a moron like I was. If I was staying at the Holiday Inn, I would be super psyched that there was a legitimate restaurant located on the first floor of my hotel. But as a regular customer, it's kind of confusing to visit a restaurant in a Holiday Inn. That being said, Burger Theory is just fine and dandy. Now, please take my review with a grain of salt, as we only got an appetizer, a dessert and a beer. Are the burgers great? I have no idea, but if you asked me about the nacho fries, I'd tell you that they come with a crapton of sauce. There was like 3/4 of a cup of sour cream plopped on the fries, and 1/2 cup of guacamole and salsa each. The presentation was not appealing. If you like lots of sauce, though, the nacho fries at Burger Theory will probably be your jam. I got the brownie sundae, and that was fine. I ate it while drinking a pint, so that was pleasant. The dining room at Burger Theory is exceedingly clean and organized. The service was friendly and always attentive. Apparently, if you stay at the Holiday Inn where Burger Theory is housed, you can have food delivered to your room. That's pretty awesome. read more

I'm not a big burger person but my folks are. After a very long exciting weekend, we were very tired after swimming at the Hampton Inn across the street. The only negative was that it was a bit hard to get them on the phone to place a to go order, but we figured it out. The burgers were a good size but not too big. All of the ingredients tasted very fresh. My dad and I had the lonestar burger and it was very tasty. Fries were good. The onion rings were huge and absolutely delightful. I've been looking for a good burger place since Black Swan pub closed in Plainfield. I'd at least recommend it to go. I can't speak to dining in person. read more

Service a little slow, but acceptable. Big drawback is the atmosphere. The space is cold, hard, sterile, generic. Just not an inviting, comfortable space. I was really hoping i would have a more positive experience to share. But nonetheless there were still some positives so ill start there: I had the farmhouse burger and it was delicious! Very tender and juicy! Now the not so positives: Service was slow. I will acknowledge there were only two waitresses working and though the place wasn't packed, I understand only have two waitresses for an entire restaurant can be a lot. I wouldn't be upset about the slow service if we would have gotten the same attention as the other tables in our section. I believe we waited close to 30-45 mins for our food. During that time, our waitress never checked in on us. When she did bring out our food, we asked for refills as we were now starting our meal and had nothing to drink... we of course never saw those refills. We also never received any silverware and since our waitress never checked on us, we had to borrow from the table next to us. Having ordered burgers, this usually wouldn't have been a problem but my partner ordered the queso burger which i comes with the entire bun covered in queso and not just topped like regular cheese. Making it hard to eat without silverware. There were also no toppings on the burger contrary to the description. It is also supposed to come with guac and pico. I tried the Lone Star burger (Cheddar cheese * thick-cut bacon * onion ring * BBQ sauce) with a side salad... the burger isn't the biggest I've ever had by far, but the flavor was very nice. The actual burger patty was on the dense and dry side, even so I ordered it medium. I also enjoyed the firecracker shrimp. Be advised, that you get only 6 shrimp, they are decent size, but... it's 6 shrimp for more than $10. The sauce is tasty, but a bit much. So this is very saucy and messy. You will need extra napkins. The burger was not so great. I got medium well and it was very soft/mushy. The bun was as well, so I just kept getting soft bites. The coleslaw was very good. The homemade ice tea is a must have. We had the pleasure of tasting the buffalo chicken wrap (which was tasty), firecracker shrimp (which are very large and flavorful), and the burgers and fries. I tried the loan star and the burger was really dense and heavy, while the flavors are okay, for a place called burger theory, I expected a better burger. My friend had the classic burger and while okay it was dense as well (as if the meat was over handled during preparation and prior to cooking). Fries were nice and food was warm. Be advised if you order to your room there is 15% gratuity that will be added. We had margaritas as it was Cinco de mayo weekend and they were good and well prepared. It had sautéed red peppers and onions, portobello mushrooms which I left off only because I don't care for mushrooms, garlic mayo and Boursin cheese. A good option if you're staying at one of the hotels located by the airport. Surprisingly good and trendy environment for a hotel restaurant. We split the Farm Fresh burger and the Lonestar. I personally liked the Lonestar better, but wish it had a bit more bbq sauce. The Farm Fresh was good with an obvious amount of goat cheese, but could have been better with a bit more red pepper. I do like a good burger Burger Theory serves a GREAT burger. We've been there several times, and I've tried a number of their burgers and I've never been disappointed. Always cooked the way I order them. Sides are plentiful. I like their fries, but I'm a REAL fan of their onion rings. Each time I've been here, the restaurant as been absolutely sparkling clean. Sure, I don't give a white glove test, but it appears to be one of hte cleanest restaurants I've ever been in. Make no mistake, they're premium burgers, so it's a bit more pricey than one might expect for a burger restaurant, but, in my mind, it's worth it. I'm afraid I have to drop from a 5 to a 4 because of service. It's never been awful, but it's been spotty from time to time so I can't justify a 5 star rating. read more
