Some of the finest chili if I do say so myself. I hail from the city of Johnny Rockets and Tommy's Burger joints whose chili are a common standard for many. Go to Indianapolis and Clancy's will set the record straight. Midwest got it going on! Nice portion, very friendly pricing, excellent flavor and texture. Service here is pretty straight forward, no fancy seating on long winded convos to be had with the cashiers. Just order up, take a seat and soon you'll be rewarded. Unfortunately I had a dinner commitment at Bodhi that evening so an order of chili cheese fries was all the spare space in my belly. I'll need to return to try one of their dogs. When in the mood for diner style food I like to hit up this spot in the garage food hall at the end of Mass ave downtown. U place ur order and stand and wait for them to call ur name . The mushroom Swiss burger with mushrooms is good u can add toppings , i usually just add some mayo and it comes on a warm grilled bun. The sides are separate but I like to do cheese fries , they are crinkle cut style but always taste fresh. The cheese is just plain nacho style cheese. Adding some pepper helps! Overall it's good food nothing fancy but good when ur in the mood. They do brew their own very tasty sweet tea that I'd recommend or if ur in the mood for a shake they make those well too. Prior to trying it yesterday I wasn't overly familiar with Clancy's. I don't eat beef or pork and I assumed they were just a regular burger joint. To my surprise they actually have Beyond/Impossible Smash Burgers. They are fantastic. You wouldn't know it wasn't beef if someone didn't tell you. The toppings were also very fresh and crisp. Not like some places where the lettuce is soggy and the tomatoes are full of seeds and not firm. Their fries are also the kind where you don't need to add ketchup. If you are going to the Clancy's in Bottleworks, the line may be long but don't be intimidated, it moves really quickly. Good food, food value, great location! read more

This is because Clancy's is the only place in the food hall that serves kid-approved cuisine like plain hot dogs "without seeds" (?!) and plain hamburgers and cheeseburgers "without sauce." So, if you have kids, just do yourself a favor and head straight to the far back left of the food hall. That's where Clancy's is located. Located inside the Garage Food Hall at Bottleworks, Clancy's brought back the nostalgia for me. First started in 1965, the year I was born, I grew up enjoying Clancy's due to my family's mad love for the place. If I remember right, it was a Plainfield location - or it might have simply been on Rockville Road. I can still remember the building and the burgers. I was honestly a little stunned when I heard that Clancy's would have a location inside Bottleworks. It appears to be their 2nd location at this point - here's hoping this means a resurgence is coming. The very first Clancy's was in Noblesville. It was always a place that made you feel like they weren't cutting corners. Clancy's technically was fast food, but it was a different sort of place. Being that the character Clancy was based upon a cartoon character, it always carried with it a sort of nostalgia. Can you tell I'm reminiscing? What about now? The Garage Food Hall is a pretty nifty place. Each restaurant in the Hall has their own location with a few tables, though given current pandemic guidelines you may need to look around a bit - I did. They have a mix of taller tables and shorter tables. Since I'm in a wheelchair, I obviously needed a shorter table and ended up having to go to the other side of the Hall to find one. The Clancy's menu includes their famous burgers along with a Beyond Plant-Based Burger, a Clancy's Topper (don't think Big Mac - way better!), flat-top franks, some chicken selections, multiple variations of fries, some sides, shakes, and a variety of beverages. You can get your sandwiches as a meal and you can do things like double up the burger ($3 extra) or get a large drink instead of a medium. I ordered a double-burger with fries and a large unsweetened iced tea. My meal came in at just over $12. The burger was fresh. It's made from angus beef and on a brioche rolla. It was delicious and substantial. The french fries were nicely seasoned - perhaps a little bit on the light side in terms of a side, but not bad and definitely tasty. My iced tea was also terrific. Masks were required and all employees were masked (you obviously took masks off to eat). Bottleworks has an active cleaning crew. I left the table once to go get ice cream and when I came back a couple minutes later my table was already clean. The young woman working the counter today, whose name I didn't get, was an absolute delight - super friendly and helpful. Oh, and they also do have a rewards program that you can sign up for with your first order. It's pretty quick and painless. Parking in their lot is paid. I actually parked at one of the Mass Avenue meters and wheeled around. Everything is pretty wheelchair friendly. The doorway is a double-sided glass door and all of the sidewalks are new and have appropriate curb cuts. The parking lot has accessible parking. I did struggle a bit with carrying my food (no trays), but that's likely a safety precaution in a pandemic world. I could deal with it and did. Overall, this is probably somewhere between a 4-5 star but I'm trending upward because of the terrific service, warm nostalgia, safety precautions, and I just plain enjoyed my meal in a pleasant environment. Tables were nicely distanced and everything felt safe and respectful. There's simply no doubt I'll be back. While I do want to try some of the other Hall options, I'm already looking forward to a return trip to Clancy's. We came back to the Garage Food Hall again. This time I tried Clancy's, which is  hamburger and fries kind of place and located real near the J Lobster. Look for the very bright neon sign. They do offer various hot dog options, chicken, and even pork tenderloin. I decided I would try the cheeseburger and cheese fries. The cheeseburger came on a toasted bun and reminded me of what is usually called a steakburger. The fries came separately but filled the basket (enough for two people). They were lightly seasoned and served drizzled in cheese. They were tasty and I ended up eating almost all the fries myself. After I ordered I noticed that around the corner right beside them is the pizza place. So next time a specialty pizza it will be. Afterwards, I had to stop at Lick and get the milk chocolate ice cream. A perfect way to end a meal. With help from another patron I finally know how to get free parking and avoid the $5 fee for parking in their lot. Just get a receipt from any vendor and there is a bar code at the bottom of the receipt that will give you free parking. read more

Clancy's sits back in the NW corner of the food hall, almost on the end. First off, I love french fries. These were nice thick crinkle cut fries with a really nice slat/peppers/garlic seasoning on them.  I got a cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato & grilled onions. The hubs got a burger (no cheese) with lettuce & tomato. He promptly threw out his tomato because it was clearly unripe, but mine was good. I enjoyed my burger very much; good melted cheese, good grilled onions, and a super soft brioche bun. So for me, it was filling & a great meal.  For my hubs, we was annoyed about the tomato so then felt his burger was a little plain and thin (these are flatter patties), but he did like the fries as well.   Service was friendly & pretty fast for a crowded Friday night. The only downside was they didn't have trays like I've had with some other vendors in the food hall -- so navigating the people while carrying the food basket, drinks, ketchup etc and trying to find a place to sit was a little challenging.  So perhaps getting it "to go" would make things easier when it's busy, even if you're gonna hang out in the garage.   #yum #ReviewsByRL read more

The employees were chatty in a great way and the entire stand had a clean, inviting feel. The show-stealer was the Bottleworks district itself. My goodness! I get a hamburger and fries, and I am a big fan of the Clancy Sauce. I went today, and my burger was a bit smaller than normal (it felt like the bun was much bigger than the meat), but honestly it still tasted really good so I would recommend still! As a side note, the garage is such a fun place to go with with friends. There's no pressure of full table service. We visited this location as part of a Yelp Elite event, but we also bought some extra items because we liked it. First, all employees at Clancy's were very helpful and welcoming. I was able to find a free 15 min. parking space nearby. I ordered the quick and simple hamburger. I was surprised with how much green lettuce was flowing out of the bun. The meat was fine. I think the burger was kind of pricey though. I was able to find a free parking spot west of The Garage within a residential neighborhood so I ate my hot burger in my car. Clancy's is one of multiple eatery spots within the building, the only one serving burgers. You can order takeout or enjoy the atmosphere and eat at the provided seating. Weekends can be busy and crowded, so be prepared for possible longer wait times plus limited dine in availability. For parking, you can park using a meter or utilizing the parking lots which both cost. I went here on a Saturday evening and parked in the lot which was $5 for 0-3 hours. Luckily it wasn't that busy, line was short at Clancy's so ordered pretty quickly. Not much time passed when my food was ready. My order: hamburger and crinkle fries (this was complimentary thanks to a yelp event) I purchased a root beer, and though pricey at $3.25 for a regular sized glass bottle, it was delicious. A blast from the past! I've never been to a Clancy's before but the aesthetic and vintage feel immediately transported me to a different time. Burgers and root beer always remind me of going out to eat with my Grandpa when I was a kid anyway. I had a hamburger, fries, and Triple X root beer. Clancy's uses locally sourced agricultural products and beverages. The burger patty was fresh and it was topped with a good amount of toppings- I chose lettuce, red onion, and Clancy's sauce. I'm still not sure what the Clancy's sauce was but it was tangy and good. The fries were crispy, hot, and well-seasoned. My mom and brother had the Topper and fries. My mom said she expected it to taste like a Big Mac but that it tasted like a "real hamburger" instead. The service was quick and friendly. With a one year old at home I don't get out much so when I saw this newly built Garage Indy I was quite surprised. The building itself deserves its own review (later). I had just come from doing a breast cancer walk so I was good and hungry. I walked through the entire area before deciding on stopping at Clancy's. A burger just sounded right at the moment. I was disappointed either. The burger with all the free toppings it the spot. The crinkle fries were seasoned perfectly and the strawberry shake was the icing on top. The menu had a nice variety of options to choose from and I didn't find myself waiting to long for my order. I would definitely come back here and try some other menu items. The service is fast and friendly! The menu has a lot of options but not in an overbearing my food won't be fresh type of way. I went with a burger because I love them, I got the double cheeseburger with ketchup; mustard, mayo, pickles, tomato, and onion. It was hot and fresh plus not super salty, which is a weird thing that I watch out for in burgers. I loved it and polished the whole thing off. I decided to get a side of fries as well, Fri-yay! So crispy, fresh and seasoned to perfection! I had to try some clanceys dipping sauce which was tangy and perfect! Clancy's is a bit to the right when you first walk in the garage. The guy who took my order was super nice, repeated my order back, and it didn't take long at all to come up! I had the impossible burger and added cheese (everything is better with cheese) with fries. This burger was AMAZING. I have had "fake meat" before and it was just okay. I could not tell the difference between it and an actual cheeseburger. It was so good, that I ate the whole thing. That NEVER happens. The Clancy sauce was also super yummy, it tasted like a onion, relishy, mayo mix. Since I got it on the side, it made a killer dipping sauce for the fries too! (I had previously only posted this on an events page, however we went back again and it was as good as the first time) Keeping it classic. Clancy's Hamburgers started slinging burgers, fries, and shakes in 1965 in Nobelsville, IN - so it's o' so fitting to stack it into the revival of another piece of Indy's history, @bottleworksindy @garageindy . They're keeping it pretty classic - fries, burger, shakes, dogs, another Indiana classic Triple XXX Rootbeer, with a few new additions like their vegetarian friendly burgers! I got a beyond beef (my fav vegan substitute which is pea based and not soy) cheese burger, crinkle fries, and a rootbeer. It was delicious and I would 10/10 get it again! The crinkle fries much to my surprise were deliciously crispy (usually crinkle fries are soggy raw in the middle messes and I'm not a fan) but these were great and seasoned well! And of course my secret love affair with Triple XXX Rootbeer, I was pleased to see they carry this Indiana classic. While visiting the Food Hall I ordered from J's Lobster Market and my husband opted for Clancy's. We both remember Clancy's in Noblesville very well. I lived 15 minutes from Clancy's so I grew up having the Topper Burger which is a double burger with cheese, lettuce and Clancy's Sauce. Sometimes, as a young teenager, I had enough money for fries and their thick shakes. What a treat that was. Clancy's was established in 1965 so I grew up eating their signature Topper, Cheeseburgers and Fries. The new Clancy's at Bottleworks still has the keystone cop mascot with the red and white color scheme. It looks just like I remember. The menu offers all the original items plus a new item. Clancy's is now serving the Beyond Plant Based Burger ($8.95) which is a quarter pound, meatless burger with choice of cheese, L.T.P.O. served on a brioche bun. Clancy's quarter pound burgers are fresh Angus beef, never frozen and cooked to order then served on a buttered and toasted brioche roll. The Clancy's Topper ($8.75) has double patties, shredded lettuce, Clancy's Sauce on a double-decker, sesame seed bun. A much earlier version of a Big Mac. Flat Franks are jumbo franks, all-natural, 100% Angus beef, antibiotic-free with no hormones and served on a warm poppyseed bun. Try the dog Naked, Mass Ave Dog with all the condiments or the Classic Coney Dog with beef chili, cheese and onion. Maybe you'll prefer the Nap Town Nacho Dog with cheese sauce, tortilla strips and spicy jalapenos and lastly, the Cowboy Dog with cheddar jack cheese, grilled onions, crispy bacon and BBQ sauce. Three Grilled Chicken Breasts are another option and, of course, each dressed differently. Two salads, Caesar or Garden, are available, too. Clancy's Crinkle Fries can be a meal in themselves. Order plain, or Cheese Fries topped with their signature cheese sauce or the Chili Cheese Fries topped with Clancy's cheese sauce and beef chili. Don't forget to check out the various beverages and thick hand scooped ice cream shakes. Flavor options for the shakes are vanilla, chocolate, strawberry and the seasonal flavor this month ( February) is Strawberry Cheese Cake. Their lemonade is made in house with fresh lemons and sweeten to taste. Freshly brewed Ice Tea is a favorite or Triple XXX Root Beer (made in Lafayette, IN) is perfect by itself or in a Root Beer Float, Floats use soft serve vanilla ice cream topped with your choice of soda (Mr. Pibbs, Fanta Orange, Hi-C Fruit Punch or Coke, Diet Coke and Sprite). My husband ordered the Combo Chili Dog with onion, Crinkle Fries and Triple XXX Root Beer. The fries were good, not over cooked or greasy but the Chili Dog was disappointing. He said the Chili was ordinary and either the chili or dog made the bun extremely greasy. I asked if it was just chili but it was grease on the bottom of the bun. Hopefully this was a one-time issue. I think he'll give Clancy's another chance and I certainly want to try a few of the sandwiches and their Chili Cheese Fries. My friend (who is local) mentioned that it doesn't get any better than Indianapolis if I wanted to get pork tenderloin. Cashier started talking up the new pork tenderloin burger as well. After a few minutes, I decided, "Alright! Let's do it!" Cashier, "Awesome! Which burger would you like?" Me: "....." (inside, I am laughing my butt off) My friend: "uhhh...I think she meant the pork tenderloin burger" HAHAHA Anyway - I get the burger and find a table. It was nice and crispy, an overall decent burger for sure. Not sure if it's the best I've ever had, but definitely pretty good. Clancy's have been around since the mid 60's so they must know about serving good food to last for that long. This location is located in The Garage in the Bottleworks aka former Coca-Cola plant. I ordered the cheeseburger and it was VERY good! The vegetables on it were crisp and the cheeseburger was cooked just right and the bun looked like one you see on a commercial with the perfect golden brown buttery shine to it. They have a big menu and a milkshake will be my next item of choice to try. The staff did a great job considering it was opening day. I'm glad Clancy's made a home in downtown Indianapolis. read more

This place is efficient. Lines to order that move quickly. The crew takes your order rapidly and with ease. Food is deliver to the counter in minutes. Hot, fresh and as ordered. The crinkle cut fries are steaming hot with plenty of salt. Cheeseburger was juicy with meaty cheese and just the right amount of Clancy Sauce. Really good food and service! read more
