They have pictures of vintage cars on the walls and their are vintage cars that meet-up on Wednesdays, just to be seen. The staff is usually cheery and helpful. The fried chicken is a bit on the small side and if I had it my way they would give you bigger pieces, fewer of course but bigger. The fountain drinks are refillable and they have combo's that give you a price break when you order a burger, soda and fries. 4 tables are lined up by the counter. I love coming to this place in the mornings and afternoon while the owner is there. My husband and I always come here for a quick and inexpensive meal. I always order their Western BBQ burger meal and my husband always orders a breakfast meal. My meal came with the burger, nice crispy fries, and a soft drink. Their breakfast meal, depending on what you order comes with hash browns, eggs, toast, and bacon, but no drink. Their burgers are good and pretty consistent, their breakfast can be kind of greasy at times, but my husband still loves it. The guys that work there are very polite, but I especially like the owner. He is very friendly, personable, and knows my order by heart. There was only one time that I went there right before they were about to close. The owner had gone home for the day I guess, but I could definitely tell that his presence was missed. They had given me old lettuce and old ranch dressing that had probably been sitting out all day. It literally almost made me throw up. With that being said, I suggest that you only go there during the day while the owner is there to oversee all of their food orders. They have plenty of parking so that is never an issue, and on a sunny day its nice to sit in their outside seating area. Their place is pretty small because its a mom and pop type place. It's exactly as the name suggests. It is a barn that was old and converted and now serves hamburgers. Yes there is something very lovable about this place and I have no hesitation to call it one of my new favorite burger spots. You have to love the atmosphere of the place is very old-fashioned and it's not because the building is old but they have a very nice small patio space that you can sit. I think the prices are moderate I have not had any of their breakfast stuff yet but the place is a real blue collar greasy spoon. It's Unique and has character and is across from Santana Row it's not very upscale but it has to be a fan favorite to those who live around this area. Well I did it! We stopped to have breakfast after driving by for the millionth time. Ill start with why I wanted to try this place for a while now. It does have that hole-in-the-wall come hither look :) The nice outdoor sitting for San Jose during summer is perfect. The simple decor inside with the bare minimum as I surveyed the place was very intriguing-and the even simpler menu on the wall was too much for me! I had to order something. Well I was disappointed :( I ordered #3 and got #2. But that's not a problem! The beef patty came bland-as in tasteless. The bread came dripping in butter. Gives me the shivers till now. I had my butter fill for the rest of the year! It's that bad really! The rest of the food was ok. Nothing to rave about. They also run out of OJ that day and only had soda. I've passed by this place for many years and to be honest, hesitated to even try the place due to the bad comments I've gotten from friends. My date suggested we go there, checked yelp to further convince me ;) I ordered the California Omelet which has avocado, swiss cheese, and bacon with toast and hash brown on the side. I don't usually eat omelets, by oh my goodness this one made an impression! Every bite had bacon, cheese, and avocado in it, this thing was fully loaded! It was also garnished with avocado on top, definite plus. I'm a big hash brown person and these were not made how i would prefer them. Decent place...a throwback to yesteryear. I ordered the CA burger and onion rings. Onion rings-good flavor. Definitely frozen and not made on the premises. However, it was made with whole onion rings, not the finely ground onion "mix". CA burger-1/4 pounder with a good amount of avocado and grilled onions. It was a little light on the tomato though. The sourdough bread was a nice touch reminding us of where we are (SF, duh!). Overall flavor was ok, nothing Earth shattering. Value-$12 seemed a little high but the burger itself was $5.89. The price of the rings ($3) and medium Diet Coke ($2.59) is what did it! Super Duper would have been a better choice but I didn't want to deal with the crowds! read more

This seems to be one of the last places offering steak fries; you know the real thick ones that actually have some potato content. Sadly they're difficult to find these days. Looking at some of the pictures others have posted, I see two different types of fries, so I'm glad that today I got nice big steak fries. I hope they keep it up! The thing you need to know about this place is that there's no air conditioning! On hot days this is an issue. I had the California Burger & it was pretty good. The patty could have been larger but I enjoyed the amount of actual avocado on it. I also had 1/2 steak fries and 1/2 fried zucchini, which both were delectable. The tables lacked napkins and there was nowhere to get drink refills, even water. Overall it was ok and I will be back for the steak fries alone. I'm looking forward to checking out the corn dog. The place sells burgers and is literally shaped like a barn - maybe I'm just easily entertained, but I was pleased! I had seen this place that looked like time forgot from my bus and decided to finally come by for dinner. I picked a Tuesday so I could see all the classic cars that gather there and prepared myself for a relatively fun meal with mediocre food. While my expectations were admittedly low, they exceeded them! I was very satisfied on the food front. My veggie burger was from a frozen patty but it was a nice one and the bun was really nicely toasted. It also came with some caramelized onions and the person I came with got a burger that had a piece of fried fish on it that looked fantastic. For around $5 each, I'd say it was an awesome deal (though the french fries were oddly expensive comparatively - $4 for a not very big large). In terms of the atmosphere, it was great fun. We brought my dog and ate outside surrounded by the classic cars and the sound of oldies music. We felt a little out of place parking the Prius amongst all the amazing cars and then being basically the only people not there with "The Outcasts" (WE felt like the outcasts haha), but it was super fun. And I have to say, even the bathroom was cleaner than I expected. I expected gas-station level but it was more on par with your average fast food chain. Nice. I'll be back! read more

Since I'm not a fan of buns, I ordered my hamburger wrapped with lettuce. I received my order rather quickly which was nice considering I'm starving. The taste of my burger was delicious, so delicious I can order another. Frys were yummy, serving size a bit small but they tasted great. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because while eating my burger, it was falling a part from not being wrapped and the juices from the meat, cheese and produce made it difficult to keep together but I still ate the whole thing. So far I've been twice with a friend and had the Bacon Cheeseburger and the Bleu Burger. Both were very good, 1/4lb burgers, the bacon burger had plenty of great bacon and the bleu burger was topped with melted swiss and several thick slices of ham. The fries are great as well. Be careful though, some of the burgers are 1/2lb (the menu will specify) so make sure you don't order more than you can handle! read more

Combination chicken is good - tender chicken breast on bun with lettuce, tomato and dressing - great steak fries - nice and crisp, golden color and very hot - just out of the fryer. Fish and chips are good - chicken nuggets are good. I would give five stars but the steak sandwich was rather tough and they do not have any salads which my elderly mother prefers to eat.
