Great place for cheesesteaks! Different from the other cheesesteak shops around San Jose in that the hoagie roll was soft! Most cheesesteak shops have a thick and chewy hoagie that sometimes gets to be bit too chewy and becomes a problem trying to take a clean bite - more often than not, it ends up with the meat falling out of the hoagie, and/or juice oozing out onto your lap. Not so here at New Jersey's! This is the first time I ate a cheesesteak with no mess, no meat falling out, no juice on my pants! They solve the problem by using a soft hoagie roll. Yet there is not the sogginess that one automatically expects, as there is little juice to be soaked up. If you think that this makes for a dry cheesesteak, it does not. The meat is tender, not dry at all, the onions and mushrooms are not limp, but the flavor is all there! As a Philly native, it's incredibly difficult to find a restaurant that makes a decent cheesesteak outside of Philly. However, I can confidently say that New Jersey's makes the best Philly cheesesteaks in the Bay Area. I got the combo Philly and it was good, I wish they toasted the bread, that's my only thing. They fill the sandwiches to the brim with meat mushrooms and bell peppers and I left feeling stuffed. Oddly, I once live within a couple of miles from this location. All 5 of us ordered Cheesesteak. I knew I should have been suspicious when George requested Only half the regular portion of meat. I ordered the mushroom pepper combo. All the sandwiches came on a 10" roll but... with a fork on the side. Why you ask? Because there's SO MUCH meat there's no way a normal person could eat it without wearing half the meat. So after nearly filling up with about half the meat I managed to squeeze the roll together enough to eat this like a regular sandwich. I honestly really liked the place. It's your casual next door bar where everyone knows everyone. Service was very friendly and the food came out fast. It seemed like everyone in the restaurants knew each other and were regulars. They had a ton of food and drink options and their service was quick. This old lady behind the counter has an attitude like she is a working-class millionaire, absolutely nonchalant about customers but if she was only that I wouldn't care, but I realized besides scary she is cheating with money. I ordered two cheeseburgers and one big fries. I gave her my credit card and I didn't add tip because the order was to go.  The cheeseburgers were okay, nothing to brag about, the buns were small, the lettuce, cheese and tomato were so small they covered half of the patty. The fries frozen, tasteless and with a hole inside.    I was expecting that the amount I payed would be $21,00 for two cheeseburgers plus $7.00 for a large fries the total price around 30 dollars with taxes. One week later when I got my credit card statement, I saw the total was 47,38. She decide to add a 50% tip. I reported to my credit card and they gave me a refund of $15.00 without dealing with the restaurant, since she didn't give me a receipt. 4.5 stars but rounding up for one of the best cheesesteaks I've had in a while! I've been a lot of the other top cheesesteak spots in the Bay, and somehow missed New Jersey's until now. They are located right next to super popular brunch spot Hash House, and they have their own small parking lot in front of their building. In addition to a variety of different cheesesteak options, they also serve burgers, salads, sandwiches, and sides, all your standard bar fare, but slightly elevated. Prices are very reasonable, especially for Campbell (although they are located outside of the swankier downtown area). I placed my order around 4:30pm on a Sunday, and it was ready in about 10 minutes. I tried their Original Cheesesteak ($10.25, https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=fS1cU2BsgSyMncXF6Cx5hA&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg), which is served with a bag of Lay's Original potato chips. I loved their original cheesesteak, and how beefy and cheesy the filling was. The onions were also cooked perfectly, and all three ingredients worked really well together. I just wished there was a little more texture to the bread- maybe toasting the inside a little on the griddle before putting the filling in? I came here a few years back for the Warriors winning game and it was really cool. This joint seems to be a huge hit among the local community which includes me. A neighborhood gem! I love the cheesesteaks here. They are made with choice ribeye. There is so much meat, the sandwiches are served with a fork to pick up all of the overflowing meat, and a bag of chips is included. 1/2 a sandwich is enough to fill me up, but it is hard to stop eating. I usually kill a whole one in a sitting. I wish there was more cheese...then it would be perfect! I like to get curly fries with my cheesesteak. I do not like that they nickel and dime for a side of sauce...50 cents each side of ketchup or ranch. On Wednesdays, there is a pork ribs special for $13.50. A generous portion of pork ribs with a side of fries or salad. The ribs are boiled (not my favorite way of prepping ribs), then grilled over fire. Surprisingly good.
