This place is in the spirit of an old-fashioned burger joint from the 1960s. The variety of hamburger selections is greater than you'd expect from a small shop, and the taste (with fries, of course!) is excellent. This business is a 34-mile round trip from where I live, but the drive is worth it! read more

Tiny town diner done right!! Fried chicken sandwich was delicious when at many other similar places it tasted like cafeteria food. Burger Barn's spicy fried chicken was delicious. Tiny little spot on the main street of Dunsmuir. Old school burgers, fries and shakes. During this time of year inside is a must as there was snow on the tables and very cold. We enjoyed our cheeseburgers fries and milk shake. Took some Philly cheesesteaks to go. Very friendly staff and quick to serve our food. They also gave us the local info of what was opened during this end of March time. Street parking available and in the back. Restrooms outside with code. They are closed Friday and Saturday and open the rest of the week. read more

I picked the wrong day to be in Dunsmuir as all the other restaurants were closed!! But I was happy to find this one open. I ordered the double cheeseburger with fries and a soda. My Mom ordered the fish and chips. The burger was good and fries were not bad. Soda was nice and cold and bubbly. Nothing really to write home about, but at least they were open on Mondays when we needed a late lunch. I would stop here again if I was in Dunsmuir, but only if the other restaurants weren't open. read more

First, let me apologize for the color of the photos. We were on a road trip with our Princess. Because of that, we ate almost all of our meals outdoors. The Burger Barn has red topped pop-ups, hence the red in the photos. We've been here before and make a point to stop by when we're in the area and need lunch. You get what you order, no more, no less. The prices are more than reasonable for non-fast-food fare. The staff is friendly and service is efficient. We ordered: Hamburger Mushroom Swiss Burger Tater Tots Onion Rings PIneapple Shake Coffee Shake I didn't bother taking photos of the shakes. Everything we had scored a solid 5. Located in Dunsmuir, CA, Burger Barn is the classic joint that provides great service with great prices. We stopped by on Monday afternoon and was able to get seating. When entering the w, you're greeted with menus and great customer service answering any questions you may have. We order several burgers with fries and tots. All meals were served hot and perfectly seasoned. We didn't get to try the ice cream desserts but that will be for another day. I went in yesterday, and asked if I could create my own burger sandwich and was told "yes!" by a very nice woman working as part of a two person team. So I had a veggie burger on toasted rye bread, with roasted green chilies, blue cheese, (as the only cheese, and a lot of it!) lettuce, tomato, and onions, and it was good! extremely cool that they let me create my own sandwich. We were staying in Dunsmuir and needed a quick dinner before we headed back to our Airbnb. We ordered two burgers and curly fries to go. Unfortunately we had to wait over 30 minutes for them to be ready because someone must have put in a big order ahead of us. I was pretty frustrated and I would expect that at a certain point they would offer us a beverage or something for waiting that long, but that didn't happen. It definitely made the food taste less good knowing I had to wait that long when we could've gone somewhere else and gotten back in that time. read more

Delicious burgers! The best part of road trips is finding local gems like this along the way. We ordered the Bacon Bleu and the Mushroom Swiss and both were so so good. This is a comfortable, clean place to eat and relax, we'd definitely stop in here again. I thought about taking one star off because, while the man that took our order was polite, he wasn't very friendly... but then I noticed he seemed to be experiencing some back pain on this day, so I want to cut him some slack on the friendliness thing - I hope you feel better soon, sir. read more

Hands-down five stars. Easy. Decided to come here after reading about the over-priced burgs over at Yaks... SO GLAD we did! Our food was absolutely delicious, and I was so impressed by the fantastic service we got. Not only was the guy who took our order kind and patient, but he came outside when he saw we had our pupper on the patio and brought fresh water AND ICE for the water bowl for her - as it was a blistering hot day! It was a real above-and-beyond move and was so incredibly appreciated!. We got a soft serve cone that we ate first, because Dessert-First is a good way to live amiright? A few short minutes later the server brought out a tray of perfectly cooked and condiment-laden burgers, fries, onion rings, shakes, and sodas. This was a random stop while on a road trip to Oregon. On the road for hours and needing some nourishment and found this place on my GPS search. It was definitely off the Interstate 5 beaten path and was a really lucky find. It's basically fast, order at the counter establishment. There a few dine in tables, but also had several tables available for outdoor dining. We ordered a quarter pounder with bacon & cheese, a patty melt, fries and a chocolate softie cone. We ordered for dine in and after ordering you are given a placard and the food is delivered to your table. Honestly, this was a really good "picnic-style" burger and my patty melt was tasty too. Just the right amount of onions and cheese and the bread wasn't greasy. I thought the pickles on a toothpick on other outside of the sandwich was a nice touch. The fries though were AMAZING! Lightly salted, crispy, not oily or with any greasy after taste. It had that perfectly crisp sound after biting into it. I'm sensitive to flavor enhancers/MSG and can say there was none, at least in our sandwiches While there was no posted sign about mask requirement, the staff observed COVID-19 protocols and wore masks and the patrons were a mixed bag. Coming from the Bay Area, we weren't sure how we'd be looked upon wearing our masks. Definitely worth the stop if you are anywhere near Dunsmuir. read more

Just had two burger and basket (fries and drink) specials. Blue cheese and bacon (added hit sauce) and Ortega (chili). It was just after noon on Saturday. Burger were hot and toppings cold - it was wonderful! Fries were hot and very plentiful. The young man who cooked and delivered our food was really nice and appreciative of our compliments. We visited the Burger Barn as my nephew and his friends will be playing baseball at the College of the Siskiyous this year. We were looking for a burger joint not too far from Weed that wasn't too expensive..I think we found it with Burger Barn.. BB Service: We were greeted immediately as soon as we entered. Burger descriptions aren't posted but the cashier answered all our questions and was so friendly. The kitchen was quick with getting our 3 combo orders hot and fresh to the table, nice work. BB Burgers: I went with the Barn Burner which was tasty and spicy. The jalapenos, spicy cheese and condiments brought out the flavor and the patty was cooked medium. Nephew when with the barn stormer and he enjoyed his burger as well. The fries come out fresh if you make it a combo, and we all did. BB Ambiance: There's definitely a small town diner feel with the overall decor. I enjoyed seeing the pics adorning the wall of locals who served (thanks for your service) and historical pics of Dunsmuir. Our booth tables was clean when we sat down to dine. We happened to make a pit stop here on our way to Portland. My husband and I were hungry and could not wait any longer, we really wanted burgers and fries. We decided to come here on a whim. It's a pretty small little place, and there were no people here which was great because that means we didn't have to wait. The prices are affordable. I got the mushroom swiss burger and my husband got the double cheeseburger. We also got a side of curly fries. I was pretty impressed that the burgers were fresh and there wasn't any greasy just wanting to drip down our hands. The fries were pretty good too. Stopped in town to visit family. Had the hankering for a good burger. This place was great. Had the smokehouse burger with the pork fries on the side. I annihilated the burger (delicious) and my stepson and his cousin split the fries AFTER I had my share. The pork on the fries was fantastic. Let me mention that all the food was brought to me promptly and with a friendly smile. I will stop here every time I happen to be in town. The place was spotless, and that is appreciated. read more

Know that during the summer this is a VERY BUSY place as it's a stop for many who are hiking the Pacific Crest Trail. The food has always been good.
