    Beef Tips Dinner Special

This is such a cute spot in McCloud! It is totally worth the drive from Mount Shasta. The food was incredible and the service was great. We got the cheese curds for an appetizer and enjoyed those. We also ordered the Avocado Burger, the Smoked Gouda Conchiglie and the Beef Tips dinner special. All the food had such good flavor and the portions were large. We all took home leftovers. If you're in the area, it's definitely worth checking out!

We stayed at the mercantile and so tried this place, we got the steak sandwich we have never had such a simple tender charred wonderfulness perfection so good we got one for our travels the next say. Chicken tortillas soup was fantastic as well. The 2nd evening we did the surf and turf special again so good star was the beer battered butterflied shrimp. I had the fettuccine I'm very picky and it was wonderful, creamy. The bread came with garlic parm whipped butter. I would highly recommend this gem. Great old fashioned as well.

In McCloud? A must is Butcher Block Grill down on Main Street, McCloud. We enjoyed the most amazing dinner tonight with Elaina from the staff. Warm friendly atmosphere where you feel you've stepped back in another time dimension where you're greeted at the door and the small town where you feel welcome. This is in the historic building where this was the original butcher shop for the logging company, Mother McCloud, surrounded by history of when the town was completely self sufficient. Priceless. Our dinners were amazing. The steaks grilled to perfection. My grandson had surf & turf, my granddaughter was a super thumbs up thrilled with her NY steak. My Cobb salad more plentiful than I could image. Everyone was laughing and enjoying theirselves along with the friendliest staff interactions. I cannot wait to go again. Butcher Block is a must for food, service, and ambience. I would recommend calling for reservations around 4:00 pm as this hot spot filled up quickly.

Very highly recommended! We have eaten here several times over the years and looking forward to going back in April for more wonderful delights. The service has always been stupendous and the food excellent and the quantity has you always leaving with the proverbial Doggie-Bag. See you the latter part of April! Thanks

Wasn't expecting any places to be open on holiday. But this grill was. The lovely ladies working were friendly and attentive. The food was great! I was expecting diner vibes but was pleasantly surprised by the flavorful meals they had available. I had the scampi and it was delicious.

Cheers to 38 years of wedded bliss!!

We were on the road in our RV and a friend of mine lives in the McCloud area and he let me know about the Butcher Block Grill. We celebrated our 38th anniversary here and had a wonderful meal. The staff was very courteous and made us feel at home. The New York steak was perfectly cooked to our liking, along with the veggies and salad. We will definitely go back if we're in the area again. Oh yeah, cocktails were very good and the bar area is very inviting!

Food was delicious. Busy night with the Workd Cup but all was done in a timely manner. We both had the salmon. Waitress was great!

We chose to sit outside which was wonderful on a pleasant evening. We ordered a particular Pinot Noir. The server came back with tastes of two alternates as they were out of what we ordered. We saw this as awesome customer service! We ordered the burrata with tapenade appetizer and it was the highlight of the evening. The Moroccan chicken dish sounded fantastic, but was just OK. The flavorings were interesting, but after several bites felt too intense. And why was there so much arugula on top? The Trout arrived with a burnt crust and was dry. The server responded the right way and offered a second chance. That arrived looking much better, but was absolutely raw in the middle. The setting, the server's warm customer service, the appetizer, and the wonderful Pinot Noir are reasons for the three stars. They just need to find a chef that can execute the promise of the menu.

The dining car was a special treat, the meal overall was very good but could have been better with a little attention to detail. The rigatoni pasta dish was absolutely perfect , popping with flavor and as good as any I've ever had. We ordered a couple glasses of pinot noir with our dinner and when they arrived they were noticeably warm like 80-85 degrees like they had been roasting in the sun , not a pleasant room temp like they should be. We also ordered a large caesar salad that we all split and the lettuce was warm like it was sitting in a window soaking up the sun, plate was not chilled and even if it was it couldn't have cooled down hot lettuce, salad was light on dressing , the halved petite romaine was very bitter, i've purchased this lettuce at costco a couple times and stopped buying it because the petit romaine tends to be very bitter, i love the consistency of the smaller denser heads of lettuce but the bitterness is unpleasant .....hopefully the chef is tasting his food and can see what he thinks. My wife ordered the pasta with shrimp and loved it! My dad had the rib eye and said it was pretty good but maybe not 57$ good. The pasta dishes were 10/10 amazing , reasonably priced and generous in size , the warm wine and salad is an easy fix, it was a nice treat after a week of camping and cooking to not have to , so highly recommend giving them a try for dinner during your stay!! Mountain scenery was incredible from the campground!! The pool was a little crowded at times but we enjoyed a couple hours of pool time both days. The host in the campground Frank and his dog Reno were great !! We really enjoyed our visit and wouldn't hesitate to stop in again, a lovely place to spend a couple days !!! Thank you!!!Cheers !!

We've been going to railroad park resort since the 1990's and eating there every time we come through town - 2-3 times a year. They used to make a great steak, with a deep dark sauce with mashed potatoes and veggies. I recently ordered the steak - $58.00 - making it the most expensive entree in the area (including the high end places in Mccloud, etc) and it had no sear. was under cooked. Had no seasoning. No sauce. The potatoes were rubber and the veggies were gross. The pork chop was similarly under-cooked and had the same sides -so same feedback. I looked for a manager to talk to and couldn't find one. So I messaged them on facebook and they told me I could come by any time and talk to the cook. Where was the cook the night I was there? I was told there was no manager to talk to. I only eat their when vactioning and can't just pop in. I live 5 hours away. If they're going to raise their prices from $40 to $60 for a steak - they need to up their gave. Instead they dropped the ball. The food isn't worth it and they don't care.

Even the visual presentation is easily a 10/10! And first bites? Omg. Whatever I imagined as best case scenario given how it looks times 10! The beef is moist, tender, extremely flavorful. The onions add that extra dimension of a flavor package and I appreciate how the dressing came on the side so I can manage how much to not have a dressing shower to contend with. The beef was SO good that I ended up having all of it on its own. It's too good to contend with diluting it with other flavors or textures. Best salad I've had in a long while and I've been on a salad kick lately. The restaurant has a nice ambiance and the server was friendly but only moderately attentive. Overall the restaurant might have been a 3.5-4 and I only know what I've tried but given this first experience this place gets a big 5!
