My first time at pizza factory, I wasn't sure what to get, so I opted for the small salad (too small for the price but the large is super worth it) and the cheese bread. Holy moly! The cheese bread was to die for! The young lady who rang me up told me it was a popular item and I definitely see why. The 2nd visit, we got the extra large meat lovers pizza. The pizza was huge and the amount of meat on it was amazing! I've never been to a pizza place where they actually pile on the ingredients and I must say, I LOVED IT! Came here for lunch as a pit stop to Oregon. My uncle (who lives in Oregon) mentioned "having lunch in Dunsmuir" we drive by and had pizza at the pizza factory. It's such a cute mom and pop feel. So all fresh and delicious recipes. As we ordered and waited some people came in and everyone knew everyone's name, and that gives it an extra feel of "like family" feel. Not much open in Dunsmuir past 6pm so we tried the Pizza Factory. WOW what a great surprise. They have an expansive menu, but we got a salad and 6" individual pizzas. The salad had crisp romaine lettuce cherry tomatoes, cheese, croutons, carrot and cucumber. Both me and my husband had a two ingredient individual pizza. There is not a whole lot going on in Dunsmuir (imo, it's part of the attraction of the place). So, when it comes to finding something to eat, in the smallest of small towns, at five o'clock on a Sunday, you would be lucky if anything was open. It was a tossup between this place and a Mexican place down the street, and Pizza Factory won. The restaurant appealed to me for multiple reasons: They have very decent prices; the place felt like an old pizza parlor type diner that I grew up going to; and they have a very cool and retro arcade upstairs (that I sadly did not play in while I was there). The bathroom was a little small; actually, it was freaking tiny, but it's a functioning bathroom, so that's good. Instead of ordering and sharing a pizza, we decided to get a calzone, and a lasagna plate. The food came out pretty quick, and they were both a lot smaller than I was expecting. My calzone looked kind of flat for something that was supposed to be stuffed with a lot of ingredients. The flavor was good in certain bites, but other bites gave me nothing but crust. For the bites that had a good portion of everything in it, the thing was delicious. I tried some of the lasagna, and I was not impressed. It didn't look appetizing, and the sauce didn't taste good at all. The restaurant is cute and cozy, and the staff was friendly, I just wish I liked their food more. Upon a quick search on Yelp & calling the businesses to check if they're open, we ultimately found Pizza Factory to be the only restaurant open in Dunsmuir neighborhood @11 am (Glad!). Food we ordered: We opted for an X-Large pizza with cheese, picked up 'create your own' menu option and made a fully vegetarian one with the choice of around eight Veggies & chunks of pineapple fruit (Veggies - Red onions, Green peppers, olives, Garlic, Mushrooms, Sun-dried Tomatoes, Jalapeno peppers). We also got a regular cup sized coke & coffee to add as our side drinks. Our order arrived quick (no complaints here) and as always, we were excited to grab our first bite. Well, the outcome was not interesting. In spite of fresh toppings, our pizza tasted bland and I felt the dough was the problem. I don't mind improving the taste of pizza by asking for any alternative topping options to make it flavorful (even do not mind spending some extra bucks for that), but when there's this tasteless dough before you, nothing we could do to make it more tasty, but left with munching on the same slices and like I said earlier, we were very hungry at the time (so just continued eating). May be it's the day after Christmas and not always they might go wrong. Holiday time could be an excuse. Overall, this was the experience we got. Not sure to visit again! read more
