This is truly a special place nestled near the heart of downtown bend. This is an incredible value for the price. $40 gets ya a nice bunk in a co-ed dorm (4 to a room) access to on side 24 hour beer access with venmo pay system, a couple of food carts literally in the back yard!!! lol a commercial fridge and fully stocked kitchen including coffee/drip maker, grinders, and even a copper chemex! Inviting atmosphere and loyal clientele. Don't believe the reviews about it being exorbitantly loud. It had a louder energy of less than 20db till about 1045ish and then it was quiet as a church mouse (thursday night) - this is such a hidden gem and hope it continues to remain a ben's staple!

I have no idea about the 'Bunk' part of the operation, but the 'Brew' part offers a chill spot to grab a beer and sit a bit. Maybe listen to live music (not sure of the hours and schedule for that though). Lots of varied seating arrangements - including comfy couches - around several fire pits. Limited tap selection according to the Bend standard but there's enough to offer something for most folks. Couple of food trucks on site (Sublime, Alebrije Oaxaca) and the Lucas House web page says Wonderland Chicken is coming soon.

Cute, clean, and fun experience. There is some construction going on around them, but did not impact the experience. We were just in town for one night and loved staying here. Room was clean and comfortable (and surprisingly cool during a heat wave), as were bathrooms. Staff and other guests were nice and respectful. We spent Wednesday night and got to watch open mic night, with a few bands and local musicians jamming out. It was super fun to meet people and hang out. Would stay again.

The experience here is incomparable. With great food, fire pits, a sauna and live music right in the backyard there is quite literally nothing else you would need here. BUT-- you also get an incredible sense of community with the employees and your bunkmates! After my experience here I will definitely be returning and bringing friends along with me. If you need a place to crash in Bend, here's an affordable and authentic experience waiting for you with open arms.

    Complimentary drink.

I traveled alone to Bend and needed a place to stay for four days near Downtown Bend. This was a solid option. I was so glad that I chose to stay here. Upon arrival, I was greeted by Frankie, and he gave me a tour of the place and free drink (everyone gets a free drink if they want). Downtown Bend is just walking distance from the hostel. I was able to explore the coffee shops, restaurants, bars, clubs, landmarks in four days. Everyone at the hostel, that was staying, was very friendly. Frankie made me try a corn dog for the first time at M & J Tavern (only $1.50)! He was very helpful throughout the four days, always gave me solid tips, and a great guy to hang out outside of the hostel too. Sydney was also pretty awesome. She is very hard working and very friendly. She also gave me tips as well, and I hanged out with both Frankie and Sydney on my last night in town. Andy was also great. He was the first person I hanged out with in Bend (aside from my friend whom I visited). Without Andy, I probably would have missed out on how to experience Bend properly. This hostel is a solid choice, stay here, you will not regret it. I made like 15 new friends in this hostel in just four days. Looking forward to the next time I visit Bend. PS: I have friends who are girls and travel alone and sometimes are a bit afraid of doing hostels. This is a perfect hostel for you! Both men and women stay, and everyone is very friendly.

We stayed in the River Wild room, which had an outdoor entrance. The bed was comfortable, and the room was straightforward. Across the street is a coffee shop by day that turns into a nonalcoholic upscale bar type place in the evening. The breakfast was exceptional, and I appreciated their offer to make me some scrambled eggs since I'm allergic to dairy and could have the (delicious looking) frittatas. I was thrilled to have Metolius tea there. The hot tub is a nice amenity, though it was a bit scummy when I went in. I also was unaware that there was hot (and cold) water available in a book by the breakfast room for guests, and a mini fridge. None of the emails had mentioned anything about those, nor could I find any info in the room. So this is your heads up! I really wanted a cup of tea before bed, so having this info would have been appreciated. It's centrally located and great for walking to wherever you want to go, if that's your thing. Everybody who works here is a doll: friendly and knowledgeable and helpful. The setting is perfect for families. I love the decor and aesthetic . It feels a bit like camping, which is what we like. Our teenagers loved the hammocks in the bedrooms, and we all love roasting s'mores at the little fire pits. The first time we stayed here, they had a currywurst truck that would come to the LOGE at night and that was lovely. Unfortunately that's no longer the case, so if you want to stay in for dinner, you have to order food from DoorDash or Uber Ears. For breakfast, they have complimentary coffee and they have breakfast sandwiches, pastries, oatmeal, and cereal that you can purchase . All are excellent. On this trip, we had spotty Wi-Fi service in our room, so we couldn't use the TV to watch movies. They also had one reading light that would not turn off. They had just been hit by lightning the week before, so that might be why these things happened. It won't deter us from coming here again - we love it! But I do think they could stand to revamp the rooms a little bit - our tub needed to be reglazed, as did the sink.

After having visited the lodge and loving the views of the lake, we tried to book an event there for a family gathering in the fall. Not anything big. 15-ish people for 4 hours. No other needs from them beyond the location. Two major issues came up: 1) It took 3 MONTHS of back and forth with their event coordinator, Anne, to try to lock it in. It felt like she actively didn't want our business. Finally got a date and quote of $600 for 4 hours. After another couple of weeks of prodding her, was finally on the verge of getting the contract. I think. Except... 2) In that time, my fiancé and I thought it'd be good to just say our vows during the family gathering since we'd have folks out here anyway. Save everyone a second trip. I mentioned this to Anne and she raised the quoted price from $600 to $2500 site fee, a mandatory $1500 minimum catering charge, and requirements to work with one of their dedicated coordinators which was even more $$$ on top of that. To reiterate, absolutely nothing had changed on our needs from the original quote except now they considered it a "wedding" which they apparently price gouge on. Good thing there's no end of beautiful locations in the area for a family gathering. Note: Yelp removed this review saying it wasn't for this location. I'm guess Suttle Lake tried to lie to Yelp to take it down. It was this location (Sisters, OR). Maybe treat potential customers better in the future and you won't get poor reviews. And since this occurrence, my fiancé and I were happily married elsewhere.

Had heard good things about their food and wanted to treat myself while on a little Central Oregon vacation, and boy am I glad I did. The main lodge area is simultaneously cozy and trendy, complete with a fireplace amongst lots of wood architecture and modern furniture. It gave me Society Hotel vibes, for those familiar. I went for the "famous" (it was featured in the Eater's Guide to the World Hulu series hosted by Maya Rudolph) fish sandwich. It was quite spendy but worth it for a splurge. It was quite a bit of food and delicious, and that's coming from someone who is not the biggest fan of seafood. Kind of wish it came with some of fries or another side for the price but what can ya do. I didn't get a drink but the cocktails looked great. Recommend putting your phone away, grabbing one of the many coffee table books they have stacked up, and enjoying the fire and the peace. I went for a hike around Suttle Lake afterwards which was also great. Lots of birds on the water and saw a Bald Eagle swooping. I noticed lots of cabins, campsites, picnic areas, swimming holes, canoes/kayaks, etc. Overall looks like an awesome place to actually spend time. I'd happily come back in the warmer months to spend a weekend here.

When we arrived, we were immediately greeted by the owners, Gary and Linda, who warmly made us feel welcome. They offered a lot of great local, insider, information about the surrounding terrain, roads, and (few) restaurants. Gary even called the owner of the local bakery (Lion Mountain Bakery) at home that evening to order our sandwiches so that they would be ready for us when we rolled out early the next morning. The Guest House is very well-appointed. We stayed in a 6 person room (3 sets of bunk beds), which was very comfortable. Showers were plentiful and very clean. There is a nice outdoor hot tub for use, although after the long day in the saddle and a late night at the local brewery, we skipped it and opted for more sleep instead. Gary and Linda have really figured out the needs of their guests, which are often road cyclists or mountain bikers. For example, there is a nice large locked room for many bikes, a bike repair stand, chain lube, tools, etc. Also, the homemade breakfast in the morning was really fantastic. Coffee was great (expect that in Oregon), and Linda's homemade granola and smoothies were very good- perfectly suited for our long day on the bikes. I can't recommend this place more highly. Stay here if you're passing through. You won't regret it!
