I wish I could give this 10 stars. It's that good. Nestled in a small spot just off the Beltline, Bully Boy is hidden in the Two Urban Licks parking lot, yet when you enter it's almost like a greenhouse oasis, low lights, large tables, and a glowing 'oysters' sign. Not only is it aesthetically pleasing it is a foodies dream with everything from sushi to duck spring rolls to Miso Black Cod and even a market priced A-5 wagyu dish. On top of that, they have several different sake to choose from as well as great cocktails, a large wine list, and more. Let's find out more. Starting with the sake and cocktails, we opted to try two different Sakes, the Koji Sake - Junmani Daiginjo ATL Edition that was our favorite, it is crisp and smooth cold sake and very sippable with any of the dishes. The other one was a rose, pink sake called Mukai Shuzo - Ine Mankai, which was still very good, floral, and fruitier than the other. For our cocktail the staff recommended the Gin #5 cocktail and we couldn't have been happier. It is a floral gin that starts out tangy and then a smooth fruity end with cherry liquor and orange flower water and vermouth. It had a great balance. For our shared plates, we tried a little bit of everything from crispy brussels sprouts to beef Negimaki, as well as Duck Spring Rolls, and their amazing King Kong Roll. Starting with the crispy brussels sprouts these were delicious with a sweetness and earthiness up front and then ended with a crunch and savory of the sauce. We'd never tried Negimaki before so we took a chance on it and we are glad we did! The wagyu beef was tender and meaty with a good rich flavor it surrounded crunchy and tangy cooked scallions that rounded out the bite with tang and crunch. Something you have to try when you go to Bully Boy is their sushi! One of the rolls we tried was the King Kong Roll. Cool and tender salmon and yellowtail, sweet and spicy tuna, creamy avocado, a fantastic roll to pair with a crisp sake! The flavor was so good, no wasabi was even needed! Finally, the Duck Spring Rolls were a great twist on a classic. Crunchy and flaky outside, tender pulled duck inside that had rich flavor and the typical cabbage and carrots, but they added peppers as well for more tang. Yum. On to our next course we pulled out all the stops and went for the pricey A-5 Wagyu and the Miso Black Cod! As for the beautiful and well-presented A-5 Wagyu it arrived in a smoke dome! It's like meat butter surrounded by a smoky, charred skin and topped with gold flakes. It goes perfectly with the tender marinated mushroom assortment. But we must admit that the Miso Black Cod stole the show! HOLY GOD, this must try dish is sweet and tender cod paired with a rich miso sauce and pickled vegetables on the side. Put the fish, miso sauce and veggies together for an incredible sweet, earthy, rich, tangy bite. We cannot recommend any more highly! We enjoyed the King Kong Roll so much, we also got the Ping Pong Roll. Wait, those rhyme! This is a must try with cool and tangy pineapple atop a spicy tuna roll with a balsamic glaze. It starts out with the sweet, cool pineapple and then the spiciness of the tuna and the richness of the balsamic glaze hits you on the back. Delicious! After all of that, they do offer a mochi dessert. It's three seasonal flavors, ours turned out to be mango, matcha, and strawberry. If you are not familiar with mochi, they are chewy and fruity outside with ice cream inside and these are accompanied with fruit. We liked them all but we found you can mix and match them for best bite. I personally liked the matcha and strawberry together, almost like chocolate strawberry ice cream. This place is AWESOME! Went here for a late dinner last night and started off with oysters and the Tuna Tataki. The oysters were great and the presentation was on point. Now I've had my fair share of Tuna Tatakis in my life and this one was the best I've ever had. So much flavor! We loved it so much we ordered a second one. We also had the tempura rock shrimp which was delicious followed by the yellowtail jalapeño which was great as well. The drinks were great as well! The service was perfect. Also, loved shishito peppers with shaved bonito and crispy brussels. I've never noticed this place tucked off the BeltLine, but so happy I tried it out for date night! I'll begin with the ambiance. I love the high windows, natural lighting. At nighttime it has a romantic dim light setting. Perfect for pictures. Also worth noting that there is a lot of greenery/plants. Again, perfect for pictures! We tried the Braised beef, oysters, Miso Black Cod, Godzilla Roll, and a delicious dessert. The oysters came out within 10 minutes. Gone are the crab rolls, duck bao, oyster sliders, blue crab fried rice, and lobster frites that we loved, but elements of Old Bully Boy are still there -- Oysters, Bibb lettuce, crispy Brussels, and overall still a seafood heavy menu, with Japanese and other Asian cuisine influences. I went on a Saturday night, an hour after opening, and much to my surprise I had the place to myself -- I'm guessing people don't know they're back open. Also, It's Kaiseki style which is good for groups and sharing. I tried the following: Duck spring rolls - A must order!! Smoked Hamachi - The smoked flavor, whipped feta and gooseberry confit make this unlike any hamachi you've had! Wagyu Tobanyaki - Great choice with seasonal mushrooms, and Summer Squash. Yuzu Brûlée with wasabi whipped cream- (Sounds insane but 10/10) Rum #1 - Delicious (Dragon Fruit Infused Rum, Umeshu Plum Wine, Lime, Maraschino, Palm simple) Soju #2 - Not my favorite, but is a nice hint of fall! This, with no exaggeration, may have been the best meal I've ever had. I was invited as a plus one to an influencer event, and I cannot think of a single negative thing to say. We were served 13 courses of all the top selections, with additional beverages, an aperitif, and dessert. Notable highlights for me included the Brussels sprouts, the volcano roll, the duck paella, and the miso black cod. The flavor palate of each dish was so unique and exciting, the preparation was stunning, and if I'd had more room in my stomach I would have happily eaten there all night. The service was incredible, the staff was so kind and attentive, and the ambiance of the space was flawless. The only slight I have is that the entrance was challenging to find, but in finding it, it gave the restaurant an almost speakeasy vibe. What a cute spot! Bully Boy has a fun menu of primarily small plates to share. Located next to Two Urban Licks(they share a valet), this restaurant has an eclectic menu and beverage list. A group of 8 of us split the following: Brussel sprouts(delicious), chicken wings, fried oyster sliders(good but not essential), smoked fish, and mixed veggies. I was pretty excited by what I was seeing on social media for Bully Boy, and when me and the girls made plans to eat here, I was ecstatic. Located off the Atlanta Beltline, the location is primetime! On a Monday night, we didn't really need the reservation, but it did get busier as the night went on. Instead of ordering separate entrees, we decided to order a few appetizers and dishes to share with our drinks. The bottom portion of the menu is the "Feasts" section, which was tempting but would be a lot of 3 women trying to get as many different food pictures as possible! I'm always for something with gin, so I made sure to order the Gin #1, which I thought would be weird seeing "fennel" and "cherry tomato" but turned out to be quite refreshing! Food: Virginia Oyster Sliders - super crispy fried oysters! A great start to the meal Duck Bao - a little heavier than the oyster sliders but pretty tasty in flavor. The duck was tender. A simple dish but delicious. Blue Crab Fried Rice - a beautiful insta-worthy dish that failed to impress. It was so salty that I had to gulp down water every other bite. Not sure if the chef forgot that they had already added salt and added more or what. The flavors overall were fine, but the rice was just too salty. The egg helped tone down that saltiness but it shouldn't have to be that way... it's a pretty dish, though! Cape Canaveral Royal Red Shrimp - ok now this was a beautiful dish to look at and just as beautiful to my palate. The fresh shrimp came on a bed of squid ink tagliolini and cara cara oranges. Recently celebrated my birthday here. Service was horrible. Came in super excited and celebratory. Ordered meals and drinks. Made waiter aware that it was my birthday with almost zero acknowledgement. I had to get up and track her down to let her know my meal was 30 minutes late while my guest's food was getting cold. Waited 10 more minutes watching other guests being brought out complimentary birthday dessert/candle which was never offered to us. Seeing the difference in how we were treated vs other guests was startling. I really try not to make things about race but i wonder bc honestly I have no other explanation. Asked to speak with manager who asked if my meal was "really" 30 minutes late assuming that I was exaggerating (we hadn't noticed bc we'd been talking) she then told us that bc it's tapas we shouldn't have expected them to come out same time - we were only two people and we each ordered a spring roll appetizer and a plate. No one advised us that our two orders would come out so far apart. She offered half off our meals for the inconvenience/experience but when it came it was only half off my meal. The world is becoming a truly amazing place to live when surprises like this begin to occur in Atlanta. Being an eater of experiments, traditions and global anomalies of food, surprises when it comes to meals have become much rarer than they used to be. It is one of the downsides of living on the road perhaps. Things tend to lean on the "expected" category, as opposed to surprising. Bully Boy is the new venture by the chef Michael Bertozzi of Two Urban Licks, a restaurant that has presented me with many varying experiences over the years. What separates Bully Boy is the blend of culture and creativity found here. The chefs Peruvian origin translates into a number of dishes from the country, but supplemented by preparations that would not the typical. From the unusual flavors within the crab fried rice, to the Florida red snapper tartare in Tiger's milk, the food was refreshing, healthy and unusual. The Yellowfin tuna bibb lettuce wraps with yuzu and smoked peanuts was another highlight that I'd return for. The drinks were one component that I was not crazy about here, they are prepared very much on the sweet side of things. The food was an experience, yet there is another layer to Bully Boy that is even more surprising. The designers who transformed this nondescript warehouse into the space that it is are people that deserve recognition beyond my words. Despite the cars being only feet away from the tables, the landscaping design creates an illusion from the inside that one is sitting inside of a jungle, surrounded by massive window and greenery. It is truly spectacular. The combination of wood, metal and rope textures builds a space that is warm and cold, smooth and rough, industrial yet cozy. It is one of the best design transformations I've seen anywhere. Do keep in mind however, that the place does get very loud. It is not the spot to go and enjoy a quite romantic dinner. Bully Boy is not only a welcome addition to our city, but a surprise within a surprise, bringing flavor profiles that did not exist before and design transformations that should set an example for architectural transformation that can be done without demolishing, using carefully planned enhancements through modern design techniques. read more

So, I've been hearing good things about this spot and was finally able to check it out. The space is dimly lit and of a decent size to create some ambience, with good music playing overhead. I like the fact that the open kitchen can be easily viewed from the dining room. Food/drink: Ordered the Bourbon #1 cocktail, Virginia Oyster Sliders, Crispy PT. Judith Calamari, and the Nantucket Bay Scallop Roll. The sliders were my favorite thing I ate! The scallop roll was also good: I liked the amount of scallops they included, but I felt they should have been seasoned more or a sauce could have been added to make the entire roll more flavorful as a whole. The calamari was decent as well. I highly recommend the Bourbon #1 as I really enjoyed that drink. We also had a Kit-Kat based treat for dessert. Service: Borna was our server and he was excellent! I was really excited to go here, unfortunately I was very underwhelmed. The service was not up to par. I felt uncomfortable asking for anything. When I saw miso cod on the menu I was so excited. The cod was undercooked and looked completely different than another person at my tables cod. The cod was also very fishy compared to other cods I have had. I give it 2 stars for the sushi rolls they were great, but it took about 20 minutes longer to get the sushi than the entrees. The Brussels sprouts were the star of the night. The oysters were disappointing as well. The sauce with the oysters did not compliment the oysters. Drinks were very unimpressive, ordered a lychee martini tasted like elderflower. The smoked paprika mashed potatoes and glaze were wonderful. The meat was tender and cooked exactly the way we had hoped it would be. We ordered three different rolls. The Spider, the Tiger, and the King Kong. They were beautifully plated, fresh tasting, and larger than we had anticipated. For dessert we ordered the mocha ice cream in three flavors. We got chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. Mochi has been one of my favorites since I was a child, so I couldn't pass up the opportunity. Our favorite of the three was the strawberry! Our drinks were great. I loved the passion fruit in the tequila. It was sweet and refreshing. The vibe inside was perfect for date night. You can skip this one. Although it's from the same people as Two Urban Licks, this is nothing like Two. 1) the service was not friendly. We had 8 people and so ordering was a bit confusing, I'll admit. But instead of smiling her way through it, the waitress looked so irritated. We each ordered a light appetizer and an entree, as recommended. But they brought the entrees out at all different times. Literally the table was done eating before someone got her entree. Terrible timing. 2) it's mid June and there was basically no AC and the restaurant is fully enclosed. The man behind our terrible was visibly sweating through his shirt. When we asked about the AC, they weren't apologetic at all and looked at us as if we were crazy. They just said it's on. Oooook. It's Georgia and the restaurant is small with the kitchen front and center...y'all need a fan at least. 3) the food is ok and the drinks are ok. The mushroom empanada was really good. The lemon linguini was fine. The lobster fries was fine. The fried rice was fine. But nothing blew us away. The one drink I did actually receive was fine. Let me start by saying, my husband and I were celebrating our one month wedding anniversary and we narrowed our choices of place to celebrate to Bully Boy or 2 Urban Licks and since we already ate at 2 urban licks, we decided to try Bully Boy. The food which is an asian/sushi cuisine was very tasty and the waitress Rieleigh was nice enough. Our issue came in when it was time to pay. Our bill came to $220.98 and my husband provided his Amex card to pay. The waitress came back and told us that our card was declined. We looked at each other and said no way. Try again. She did once more with the same result. We gave her 3 more cards to try all with the same results. We of course called our financial institutions and requested info and was told no transactions have come through. The waitress went to find her manager. The manager went across to 2 urban licks (they are owned by the same company) and he found out that they were also having a problem with the computer payment system. My husband asked him what can they do to rectify and solve this issue. This manager, B. Abdullah proceeded to say that he did not like his tone and demanded that we pay cash. He wanted to hold us hostage until we gave him cash for the bill or he would call the police. We stated that that was crazy. If your computer system is down, how are we to blame for that? So we called the police. The off duty officer from 2 urban licks came over to help sort the situation out, to No avail because what are you going to do if the system is down. Instead of this manager being humble and apologetic, we got an arrogant attitude from a man who didn't listen to reason. Why risk the reputation of your restaurant on trying to prove a faulty point. YOU ARE WRONG ! Instead of you trying to work out an amicable solution for your inadequate technology, you will fight and argue with a customer? This man had absolutely no common sense or customer service skills at all. We will never return to either one of these restaurants for the unreasonableness of this one person and I will always steer anyone else I know away from this place. The night came to an end with my husband making the suggestion to write down the card info and run it in the morning when your computer system comes back up, which would have been a reasonable thing for a person in management to suggest from the start, along with a discount for the inconvenience. All ill feelings could have been avoided. But he ruined our 1 month anniversary dinner with his arrogance and inability to be flexible. Some things do come down to principal..... Side note, while talking with the waitress she shared the fact that there was another customer whose card did not go through as well and when she walked away to get help, they walked out and ditched the bill. I went to Bully Boy for the 1st time tonight, and I will definitely be back. It was soooooo good. I loved the Brussel sprouts, beef gyoza, & duck spring rolls. I got the Volcano roll and will DEFINITELY get it again, yummy A friend got the braised beef, another the Godzilla roll and another the Red Snapper. Just from a sample I'd recommend them too and that Snapper will feed 2 people for sure. read more

We arrived to our reservation and were seated. This was an absolutely awful visit from START TO FINISH 1. We were seated and gave a menu from next door la restaurant and took another twenty minutes to get an accurate menu.. 2. It took 36 (literally 36) minutes to get our drinks. In that time of waiting our server had not even been over to check, put food in, NOTHING. 3. Got our drinks FINALLY. Went to put in food. Ordered Brussels sprouts, rock shrimp, and VEGGIE gyoza. The other person in my party doesn't eat meat. The Hispanic gentleman running food had our rock shrimp tempura, he brought it to THREE other tables, letting people look and breathe all over it before he realized it was ours. We of course asked for a fresh one and were insulted that he even thought that was ok. He then lied and said no this one is new, we both said sir. With our own eyes, we watched you take that food and show and try to serve it to three other tables that told you it wasn't theirs. Please don't insult anyone's intelligence. He got angry and took it away. (To note. When he brought the fresh one. He slammed it down on the table with an attitude.) My partner who doesn't eat meat was eating a Gyoza and it broke open. The filling appeared to be beef. There was NO visible vegetables etc. we asked our server, he said it definitely looks like meat. We then asked for a manager. Who said he didn't know. We at this point, were completely fed up and let him know we would not be finishing any part of this meal and would be leaving. They called after to say that it's a meat substitute they use in their gyoza. I have a picture of it. Why would you need to use a meat subsitute In vegetarian gyoza and not just fill it with minced vegetable? Overall this was an AWFUL experience, restaurant, service, attitude. To my surprise the menu has completely changed and they have new chef. Bully Boy had one of the best diverse and unique menus in the city. I can understand change but some of the items should have stayed or gradually take it off. Oyster Poboy sliders!!! How I miss you so! I celebrated my birthday here with a friend. We came on a Sunday right when they opened and it was super chill. Service was amazing from the moment we walked in until we walked out. The staff was very friendly and our waitress was so attentive. We ordered the oysters, crispy brussel sprouts, miso cod, and spicy yellowtail roll. It was the perfect amount for two people and so tasty. There were only two types of oysters, neither really did it for me. Crispy brussel sprouts were the best I've ever had! Sooo delicious. I was incredibly disappointed. We walked in and it smelled great. It looked a bit like the restaurant in The Menu so I wasn't sure if that was good or bad but it was amusing so that's a plus. Menu looked interesting, if a bit pricey but whatever. We're out! It's a Saturday night! Yay! So we ordered our food. And we waited. And waited. The food did come out but soooo slooooow. We ordered 8 dishes (2 appetizers and 6 sushi rolls) and after two hours, only 6 total things had come. We were there late so the restaurant was getting less and less crowded but the food took longer and longer. And the food itself was... mediocre. The sushi rice had no flavor but somehow the taste of the primary ingredient was still lost. And one of our appetizers would have been far superior as a side. I had a cocktail that was good but beyond that? Everything was ok at best. Anyway, it was clear that the wait was an anomaly because they tried to make it up to us by offering a glass of champagne but... yeah, no. Very disappointing. read more
