We were so looking forward to our dinner, as the menu looked amazing. The restaurant itself is really beautiful and the vibe was good, although it was basically empty. When we arrived, the reservation we made via OpenTable was not showing in the system, but because there was maybe 2 or 3 tables sat, they were able to seat us. That was kind of the first red flag. Every other restaurant in that complex was really busy. This place had no problem seating us at 7:30 on a Friday. The server was nice, but not knowledgeable of the menu. When I asked how the whole snapper was prepared, she didn't know and had to go ask. We ended up ordering a dozen oysters, the lobster frites, the grilled bok choy and a shrimp dish with squid ink pasta. The oysters were not rinsed, were a little slimy and very, very small. A couple of them smelled off, so we didn't even eat all of them. For $36, it was well below our expectations. Now. The lobster frites. This dish was truly delicious. If I based my whole experience on that dish, this would be a very different review. The bok choy was not cooked nearly enough. Only the green ends were cooked and the root bulb was too hard to even cut with a butter knife. The sauce on it had a very strong flavor of liquid smoke. Not good. The final nail in the coffin was the shrimp with squid ink pasta. Sounds delicious, right? It LOOKED amazing. But after only one bite, the salt was so overpowering that my mouth felt like I had just gargled with salt water. We ended up sending this one back, which we really didn't want to do, but it was just inedible. I think there was something off in the kitchen that night, because there were just too many mistakes and a complete lack of quality control. We're very disappointed because we were ready for this to be our new favorite spot. Instead, we will not be going back. read more

Went for a birthday dinner, checked the website about how it boasted about handmade tofu, only to find out it was taken off the menu and they had 0 vegan options for entrees. liars, terrible service, okay food. dont waste your time if you are vegan/vegetarian read more

As I go through this journey of becoming the best yelp reviewer possible, I need to constantly be evaluating my rating system. The five star categories are: experience/service, atmosphere/location, flavor of food, menu/cost/quality/quantity, and expectation v reality. Bully boy was an absolute fantastic dining experience. Tabitha did a wonderful job seeing the stage, helping us navigate the menu. She also was a wealth of knowledge with wine & pairings, as she works towards becoming a sommelier. Monique, our server was also absolutely amazing, picking out some tasty dishes as well as telling us a bit about what we were eating. The atmosphere was great for a date, and the entrance was low key but an interesting way to start the dinner. All of the food was some of the best that I had ever feasted upon. The mushroom empanadas, swordfish skewers, and blue crab fried rice were my favorite. The expectations that I had for this place were relatively high after I had read some reviews and did my research. They met and exceeded those expectations. This is a very important part of my rating. Why do people go to a restaurant? For myself, it is about the experience and if you hear of a certain style you expect that. The blue crab fried rice was a really cool and unexpected experience. If you get only one thing here, this is the dish you should get. read more

Warning for people with food allergies: On Feb 16th, my husband and I went to Bully Boy. I told our waitress that I am allergic to tree nuts and mango, and she said ok. After ordering a few dishes, the Brussel sprouts arrived looking as if they had nuts on top. My husband checked the menu - no nuts were listed. Still, I wanted to confirm before eating. I was looking around for our waitress but could not get her attention. Someone in the open kitchen noticed, and they pointed the manager over. I asked him, what type of nuts are these? He went to the open kitchen and returned saying, it's puffed rice. I took a bite far away from the "puffed rice" and immediately knew I was starting to have an allergic reaction. Our waitress stopped by at that moment, and I asked her again, what are these? She said, puffed rice. I paused, knowing that was not correct, then she said, oh you mean the cashews? I responded, that is a tree nut; I told you I was allergic to tree nuts. She said, you did. (Nothing else) Immediately my husband and I left the restaurant, I carried my Epipen in my hand on our short way home, then was terribly sick before deciding we needed to head to the ER in case any additional reactions were coming. Almost six hours in the ER, a missed day of work, genuine fear for myself and my family about how severe the reaction would be. This was negligent behavior from the Bully Boy staff. Even typing this two weeks after I am upset and stressed thinking about this entire experience. read more

This place is amazing! The parking situation is a little confusing, but everything is great once you get inside. Everyone is so friendly and knows what they are talking about. It's family style, so you have to be comfortable about sharing with those you are with. I recommend the calamari and the rice. I never had the Japanese egg on top of my rice, but they added smoked soy sauce and it was amazing! I will be back! read more

The menu is so poorly structured. There's no context for what's a small plate versus an entree. The waitress provided no guidance. We ended up over ordering by a ton. We each got 2-3 entrees thinking we were getting appetizers. Food took about 2 hours to come out. The whole thing was a mess. read more

Was very excited to have the Bully Boy experience. Atmosphere was average. Service was sub-par. Interesting dish presentation but taste was below average. Somewhat pricey for the taste. Tried 5 dishes. 1 out of 5 was a winner. The lobster and fries were good but not great. Proceed with caution. Try it if someone else is paying. read more

Very chic restaurant. Lots of different items to order from fried fish to mushrooms to sushi. Our sushi rolls were great, esp. the King Kong roll which was probably my favorite. We got the volcano roll as well as the octopus, grilled mitaki mushrooms, fried hamachi, and crispy tempura rice. Cocktails were lovely. Wish the flavors of the "offerings" non sushi items stood out more. Service was fantastic. For the price point, it was good but it's not a "can't wait to return." read more

My favorite neighborhood spot for after work oysters and cocktails. An amazing changing menu and the coolest staff ever. Will and essence are the best! Always a good evening here. ALSO... it's slammed on Friday and Saturday's so I avoid it during the weekends. read more

Food was good, not great. Highlights were the oysters and swordfish. She crab soup was really nice. Good touches with chili oil and hackleback aviar but missing any substantial amount of crab. Calamari heavily breaded and could benefit from a better dipping sauce. Muscles were average. Brussel sprouts were delicious. Service was friendly but not attentive enough. Very loud. Fun experience, but far from best experience. If you want oysters, great seafood, exceptional service and great drinks I'd pick the Kimball House or Optimist first. read more

This was a very disappointing meal. Their oysters were far from fresh and one of them was literally an empty shell. Both scallop rolls our table ordered had bits of sand in them. Our server forgot one of our dishes and we were somewhat relieved. The menu appeared to have some potential, but nothing was executed well. read more

Friendly and food was great. It was confusing to find the front door because it was my first time. So far the food didn't disappoint me.

We went for my friends 30th birthday with a party of 14 and had a great experience! Our server was on point and never left us with an empty glass! I had the shrimp for my main course & it was excellent!!! I would highly recommend this place for a happy hour or dinner! read more

The vallet is the same with two( sister restaurant) and just walk down to the Bully Boy door entrance. When I got there is late already around 11 pm and the host sat me right away even though my party is not there yet. Awesome! She's super cool!! Love the service!! Food was delicious!! We ordered Main lobster frites, 60sec steak, Blue crab fried rice, mussel, noodle with squid ink, gnocchi , crispy Brussels sprout. Love this place. The menu has a variety of delicious flavors with a variety of seafood as well as other proteins. Everything tastes fresh and the menu is well thought out. Cocktails never let me down and are made with the se expertise as the food. read more

Had such high hopes for this place. The only good item that made us come back a 2nd time was the oyster sliders. That is right, we came back for the sliders. The other dishes did not have any flavor (imo), rather bland, but edible. Had the chicken wings, smoked bluefish pate, 60 second steak (so disappointed with this dish), oysters (good!), and brussel sprouts. read more

We made reservations for 5:30 on a Saturday, it was the only time available but that's cool with me bc I don't like to eat late. We ordered a bottle of Pinot noir as well as the bbq shrimp, mussels and mango crab salad. The mussels were fantastic and the broth is lovely, we did have to ask for bread as it does not come with the dish- we were brought a lovely focaccia style bread that was delicious. The bbq shrimp were very good also, I wasn't thrilled they had heads but no big deal, just a preference. The mango blue crab salad was terrible, it was watery with no flavor- really disappointing. We had the kit kat dessert and we both liked it. Our server was perfect. He kept the pace perfect and was very attentive. By the time we left the place was 90% packed. I will definitely return and try other dishes. I think it's a great addition to our neighborhood. read more

Service was quick. That's about the only thing positive I can say. The drinks were not tasty and the food was lack luster. First time there and more than likely the last. We ordered the mussels which were soaked in a tasteless broth, calamari which looked good but once again another dish that lacked real taste and last and certainly not least the crab roll. Best part of that entree was the fries, but can you really mess up fries. The roll sucked! Choose carefully when ordering from this menu. read more

The food is good. We tried the oyster sliders, empanada, and the brussel sprouts. The sliders were good, not greasy, and flavorful. The brussel sprout were good. For my friend, she perferrs them to be a little more crispy. Its made with lime juice and I liked the citrus flavor. Unlike the other food, the empanada is not a large portion. But it is just as good. It isn't a large venue but would be a good place to go with a few friends. read more

Bully boy is the new hot restaurant in town. Reservations are recommended. I hosted a dinner party there for a large party and the restaurant was able to easily accommodate. The atmosphere is hip and trendy. The drinks are reasonably priced and well mixed. My favorite drink was the Bourbon - I believe it was mixed with lemon and ginger ! Now, for the food I got mixed reviews. Some of my friends really enjoyed their food and others didn't. I got the blue crab salad! Very light with a little kick. Some of my friends got the blue crab fried rice which was delicious. The presentation was awesome and it comes with a egg omelet on top. Wings were good. The Brussels were salty / too charred. The fish dip wasn't good. Overall dinner was good. *****VALET PARKING***** Bully Boy & Two Urban Licks need to hire a new valet company. I was very upset with the valet situation. After a great dinner with friends we had to deal with the unorganized valet system. We waited 30 mins for our car to arrive!!! The valet attendant took our valet ticket plus our friends valet tickets after 2 mins of us walking up- not bad. My friends had their cars in about 10mins. Meanwhile, my boyfriend and I continued to patiently wait for our car. Finally, we asked the valet attendant for the status of the car. Come to find out HE COULDN'T FIND THE KEY and HE DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO DRIVE STICK!!! This man, the attend with the prescription glasses ( the only one working Saturday Feb 16th night around with prescribed glasses 10:30pm-11:30pm) , took our ticket .. did not grab the keys nor the car. Instead of saying he can't drive stick or he can't find the keys he let us , customers, stand there in the cold for 30 mins waiting on the vehicle. If we didn't say anything 15 mins after waiting we would have been there all night. The valet system is horrible. While waiting for our car I witnessed almost 5 accidents. The valet attendants quickly reverse the cars up the ramp. Instead of pulling the cars around the front. Therefore, cars are being reversed quickly without using any sort of caution. MY SUGGESTION, the restaurants need to ditch the valet company and hire a new one that's more organized. Customers do not valet park! You'll wait forever! read more

What the what. This place is amazing I think we sat and eat almost one of everything on the menu. Each dish came out and did. It disappoint. Great atmosphere and great service. The atmosphere is wonderful. The music was fantastic. I hope they NEVER CHANGE THE MUSIC it's seriously amazing! However the food was just...meh. I came into the restaurant with getting a particular dish (crab fried rice) and the waitress stated that the food is meant for sharing. In my personal opinion the food is NOT meant for sharing. Possibly if you were with a significant other but the food doesn't mesh well when people are ordering such different things. They have things that are appetizers that can be shared but if you have more than 2 people just get your own meal. The only food that should be shared are the feasts they have at the bottom of the menu. For reference we had 3 people with 3 very different palettes. Food: First we ordered the Brussel sprouts. The vinaigrette was good but they were fried to the point of a slight bitterness but they were still good. For our "meal" to "share" we ordered the calamari, mushroom empanada, chopped salad, and the crab fried rice. The calamari was Banh Mi style (??) it had 2 carrots and micro greens on top but it was good. Great dipping sauce. As I previously said we had three people so when we asked about the empanada she said it was good (lie) and cut in half we asked if it could be cut in thirds since it was 3 of us and she just said "No the way the chef presents the dish would be compromised and you know how chefs are about presentation" (-_-) anyways it wasn't good. The inside was lukewarm and the mushrooms were barely cooked so they had lots of chew and they were wild mushrooms so it was just very odd and bland. It did not go well with any of the other dishes we had. I'm a serious mushroom lover and I did not enjoy that at all! The chopped salad was suggested as the Bibb lettuce salad was sold out from the previous day. The chopped salad was just ok nothing spectacular. Lastly we had the Blue crab fried rice. Personally, I liked it but it could have been way better. The Omurice and the fried rice are too disproportionate in my opinion. It has tons of crab which is great but the Omurice is huge. If they made it with one less egg or added another half scoop of rice I think it would be way better. HOWEVER, maybe it was just because I was sharing this dish, which in my opinion, was just wayyyyy to awkward to share my opinion on the proportions was skewed. I wasn't full when I left. Overall, I really like the place. My suggestion is order what YOU want and DO NOT SHARE! I'm going to go back for oysters and drinks and get the crab fried rice to eat by myself. Again, IF YOU HAVE MORE THAN 2 PEOPLE DO NOT SHARE UNLESS YOU'RE ORDERING A FEAST. read more

went there last night for my friend's birthday. We had 10 to 15 people and they did a great job accommodating everyone. I was also super impressed with them because it was the first Saturday they were open. service did take a while but our waiter was super cool and nice, and the scallop roll I got was to die for! They ended up bringing everyone at our table free shots and free dessert for the wait. It is a cool fun atmosphere and the food is delicious. I would definitely go back here or recommend this restaurant to friends. The cognac cocktail is bomb and I don't even like cognac. read more

Myself and a few friends came in on a Saturday night with a reservation. We did have to wait for about 20 minutes to be seated as it was packed. The service was good and our waiter had a great personality. We almost ordered the entire menu, so we were able to try a few things to say the least. We had the bluefish dip which was okay. No one at the table really cared for it. The oysters were good from what I was told. I'm not an oyster fan. The pork belly baos were good also. We didn't get a chance to try the brussel sprouts or the roasted mushroom empanada as our ticket was lost in the kitchen. As an entree, I ordered the short rib which was really good. One of my friends had the crab fried rice and said that it was really good. I didn't get the best reviews on the 60 second steak from my other friend and it looked underwhelming honestly. The funnel cake was a great addition to the meal as it was really tasty. Because of the mix up, the manager came over on her own and offered us each a gift card/coupon to eat with them again. And for this reason, I would definitely go back again. The customer service really won me over and anytime that a manager can address the situation before we even bring it up, gets a huge kudos from me. read more

We were very excited to try this place! When you walk in the ambiance is great, we hung out by the bar until we were seated at our table. We first ordered the crispy Brussels and they were tasty. Then came the oysters and calamari... the oysters on 1/2 shell were good (you can't mess that up) the calamari had no flavor and was greasy. It did come out very pretty but we wanted delicious food more than pretty. The next dish we ordered were the bbq shrimp..this dish has the most flavor but they brought out the shrimp in the shell and head on. I don't mind pealing my own shrimp but it had to have been over cooked because it was so difficult to peel the shell off. I don't like fighting for my food. Lastly, the crab rice.... huge disappointment! The presentation is cute but the dish is so bland. No flavor at all! Our bill was $125 (we had 1 cocktail and a glass of wine too) and it was the worst $125 we've ever spent.. if you're looking for delicious food... this isn't your place! The service was great, the ambience is cool! The food is not worth it! read more

Atlanta Mag review enticed us to try Bully boy for a milestone b'day celebration. Unfortunately for us, this time they got it all wrong. Once we found it, I wish we hadn't. $14 each for tiny drinks which are far better elsewhere for half the price and double the pour. Crab roll, recommended by the server, was a mushy, tasteless, and soggy mess on an over buttered roll for $19...included lots of fries. Brussels were ok but overly salty. No mention of my birthday and NO NEED to ever go back again! PS: go to Banshee instead. Also written up in Atlanta Mag. and it was wonderful on all accounts...food, service, and drinks! read more

We dined here last week. Ate and ate and ate ... spent about $300. Every item superb. Such varied and interesting flavors, very brave for ATL. As a transplant from SF, I was in heaven. Can't wait to go back. Bully Boy, PLEASE don't succumb, because it sells -- though I get the economic pressure -- to a menu of flavorless deep-fried shit that the majority loves. Seen it happen so many times in the nine years I've lived here. Your food is beyond adjectives. read more

I went to Bully Boy with a small group of friends and did not enjoy my experience at all. Anna, our server, was extremely rude and acted as if serving us was the last thing she wanted to do. She could've been having a bad day, but the poor customer service made me have little pity for her if that's the case. The food is also mediocre. We had lobster frites, Brussels sprouts, empanadas, wings, crab fried rice and the steak. The Brussel sprouts and empanadas were pretty good. Everything else was lacking. The manager was the only reason for one star. He had great customer service and recommended a great bottle of wine. The valet process is also HORRIBLE as it it shared by Bully Boy and 2 Urban Licks. Add about 30 minutes to accommodate for the time it takes to drop off and pick up your car from the valet read more
