Let me start by saying I have zero experience with firearms and I wanted to take a class to help me understand different weapons and how they work. I have no intention of purchasing a handgun, but I'm glad I took the class. The class I took was "Intro To Handguns". Peter worked hard to make the 1.5 hour classroom portion interesting and informative by adding in a little humor while keeping it serious when appropriate. On the range, it was a great to be able to fire many different kinds of guns, and there were several staff members on hand, an arm's length away, if we ran into problems or had questions. I would definitely recommend this to anyone interested in learning more about handguns or to anyone who is interested in purchasing but wants to sample several different styles/calibers before making a decision. Safety was front and center, as it should be, which made me feel very comfortable in an unfamiliar and potentially dangerous situation. read more

Admittedly this is the first and only indoor gun range that I have been to but there are several things to like about this range (and one or two things not to like). The range is also a gun shop so it is well staffed with alot of very knowledgeable people and all the staff take safety very seriously which is a definite plus given how mistakes can be very serious. They have alot of guns for purchase and for rental for the gun range. They have a very large number of lanes for both pistol and rifle (more on the lanes later). Rental for a lane and even guns is pretty inexpensive. They do require using their ammo if you rent a gun which is fair but what is not fair is the 10-20% mark-up on the ammo which gets really expensive for 45 cal. The other issue is the lanes could use better lighting and be updated a bit. The lighting becomes and issue if you have something other than dark sights or gun barrel (because of the glare). All in all I can definitely recommend going here (and don't forget they offer classes). (I will update once I try other ranges). read more

I brought an older lady in with me that hadn't shot in over 30 years. She was recently widowed and wanted to take up shooting as a hobby and for protection. Jerome was FANTASTIC with her! Got my fingerprint for my chl here.. can't review on the range. Just base on there customer service and what I saw. Made a appointment to have fingerprint perform. Had to wait 30mins before someone was able to get to me. It was easy and electronic.. saw a lot of people waiting to get in the shooting range. That was on a Sunday. They seem to wait about as long as I was doing the fingerprint. I'm sure the waiting time varies depends on day or crowd. I been to many range in Dfw. I just feel uncomfortable in there. So It never intrigue me to go there even it's a short drive for me. Maybe you can give it a try? read more

Bullet Trap is awesome, but can be OVERLY busy at times. Be sure you allot enough time to shop as they have an EXCELLENT selection of everything from guns to ammo. I was there today and noticed a number of GREEN TAG items which were reduced... things like holsters etc marked all the way down to $6! Wow!!!! Also, they have a HUGE CHL training classroom! I went over to Bullet Trap to try out a semi-auto .223 rifle after having some work done on it. Their rifle range is indoors, which is a nice feature when the temperatures start climbing into the triple digits. The riffle room allows for two lanes and a shooting distance of 25 yards. The problem and reason I intend on not returning, is that the lane width is restrictive and insufficient to clear an ejected casing. To make the matter worse is that no one seems to care about it. The rifle range would of worked for one lane, but two is to much of a squeeze. I was burned multiple times by my own brass. I decided to leave when I was more concerned about where the brass would land on me then where my bullet would hit on the target. I understand that hot brass will occasional hit you. I get that, however, a company that refuses to address a problem that is solvable I will never understand. read more

The Bullet Trap has two rifle bays that have been broken for a while and when I call to see when they will be available they tell me that the rifle bays wont be available for the foreseeable future. The problem is that they have an obsolete cable and carriage system that they can't get parts for. This range was opened in 1989 and parts for that system are now longer available. This has been an on going problem for a long time. I don't understand why they don't upgrade at least the rifle bays to a new system or install a manual rope and pulley system with a hand crank in the rifle bays only. At least the members could still shoot!! The rest of the facility and the people who work there are definitely a 5 star rating but what has been going on in the rifle bays is ridiculous in 2018. read more

I took the intro class in order to practice on several (16) types of pistols before I purchase. The staff was knowledgeable and welcoming. They answered all of my questions and helped along the way. I'm not an experienced shooter, but at no time did I feel in welcomed. I will be going back. read more

Used to be an ok hole in the wall to shoot. Employees are rude and condescending to the point of belligerent. No ac. Hotter inside that outside. Rifle bays are claustrophobic and only 25 yards. Bottom line go anywhere but here if you want to have an enjoyable time. read more

Great place to shoot. Treasure land of new and used pistol, accessories and books/magazines/DVDs. A friend recommended the place. I went, liked the place and joined as a member. One of the best places to go shoot in north Dallas. Everything is great aside from the last star I did not give which is due to the temperature inside the range. It gets very hot while inside and there is almost zero air movement. Outside the range in the store is just fine but it feels like inside is almost 20 degrees higher. I've been a member of the Bullet Trap for years, and they've always worked to maintain the range and finally modernized the front end show room a while back. The people working there are generally decent and knowledgeable along with their classroom instructors. I would recommend anyone looking for help with regard to learning how to handle a firearm take one of their classes, and I think they would also assist in helping determine which firearm would be the best fit if considering a purchase. This range was not designed to be the same as the Frisco Gun Club, not fancy but clean, safe and convenient. read more

Great people! I was shooting my glock 36 and 17 and the mag plug came out of my 17, I called and the guy went and looked through all the brass, left me a voice mail, and it was waiting in lost and found with my name on it!!! That's customer service folks!!! read more

Shooting lanes were ridiculously hot on a day that it was 96 degrees outside. I asked clerk if A/C was broken and was told "no, that's the way it always is." I'll never go back. I'll be going to Elm Fork outdoor range on pleasant days and Eagle indoor range on wet, cold, or hot days. Also, the lanes were narrow compared to Eagle. read more

Worst range in the Metroplex. I have been there twice and there will NOT be a third time. Both times, the staff was rude. Their prices are way too high, especially for a range that is inadequate and too restrictive to be useful. No more than 1 round every 2 seconds does not improve safety it just has you practicing in a manner that isn't consistent with defensive use if a handgun. They were more interested in leaving early rather than actually taking care of their customers. If the owner reads this you really need to clean house. read more

Horrible customer service, mean to customers. Magazines are miss marked in wrong packaging and will not fit the gun it says. You point it out to an employee, and they put it back on shelf, still marked to fit the wrong gun. I paid for a CHL Class, then they change to require 2nd trip to qualify. Now you can't do classroom and shooting qualification on the same day. I scheduled my fingerprints, and they changed their rules, and no longer allow fingerprinting on the same day as qualification. I have to come a 3rd day just for 5 minutes to fingerprint. I live over 1.5 hours away! They are greedy, and run the place like we are cattle. read more

My Wife and I took the Intro to Handguns course about a year and a half ago and we go shooting on a regular basis and have purchased guns from them. I have always found them to be professional and knowledgeable and have never had any issues. My one comment would be that I believe they need to make sure they have enough people 'on the counter' where you get lanes, ammo and rent guns, sometimes there are plenty of people, sometimes they seem to be short handed. read more

This place was incredibly RUDE to me and my family! We purchased a new pistol and a used rifle from here. The used rifle stopped working after the first time we shot it at their range. When we asked them to take a look at it, they got defensive and customer service went out the window. The supervisor was even worse. We asked for our membership fee back. Today was my first time to practice at Bullet Trap. It was a busy place and I had 14 people ahead of me for a lane. No worries because the time goes fast and the staff were very professional and helpful in all aspects of getting me checked in, range assistance which was needed twice due to my handgun being brand new. This was my 2nd time to fire the weapon, and a gun jam is always a concern. They were johnny on the spot which made me feel safe and for the safety of others using the range. I would recommend them and was truly surprised by the number of women such as myself who were there to practice. read more

I read many of the reviews dealing with poor or unfriendly customer service. I did not find that to be the case at all. Employees were courteous. Gun range was fine. No complaints about lighting or cleanliness ... it's a gun range. The store displays handguns, shotguns, rifles and assorted shooting accessories in a clean, straight forward manner. Hey, even the bathroom was clean! Under the 1-5 star rating I rate it as a 3 star (A-OK) as I did not experience the sales side or the instruction side of the business. I cannot comment on the cost vs. the relative value of their merchandise as I went in to shoot ... not shop for a weapon. They have a fairly competitive range rate as compared to other ranges around the Dallas area. I will be happy to revise this review once I utilize other portions of their business such as the club membership and purchase of shooting accessories such as gun cases or magazines. read more

I have been a member at BT for about 3 years. I knew the employees well bc I purchased many guns there. Most of the staff knew me by name. I took a couple of months off due to surgery and almost all the employees I knew we're gone when i returned. what i noticed was the service was awful and I couldn't get anyone to help me buy a gun for the life of me. I have gone to BT to purchase guns on several occasions and I stood around waiting for someone to help me. I have done this recently 5 or 6 times. I would look at the front desk watching the employees chat and tell stories while I have a lump of cash in my pocket ready to buy a new gun. I went again this morning and couldn't get someone to help me spend my money. I hate giving them a bad review bc they use to be decent and I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt but it is ridiculous that you can't get someone to help you spend thousands of $. read more

I have taken the Introduction to Handguns and the CHL class. Our instructions were great, funny and very informative. I had never shot a gun before, but with my instructors instructions, I was hitting the bullseye a lot. If you take the introduction to handguns class, which I highly recommend, you get a chance to shoot 16 types of guns - revolvers and semi-automatics from 9mm, 36 special, 22mm and 44. I will be going back to practice some more and test some of the guns again that I practiced with during the class. read more

I attended an Intro to Shooting class with three friends and loved it!! The instructor (Peter) was extremely informative, entertaining and one hell of a shooter! The emphasis of the class was SAFETY FIRST, and it gave an overview of different types of guns, bullets, and shooting ranges. After an hour and a half of class time, we moved into the gun range and had a chance to shoot 16 different kinds of guns, with Peter and another staff member closely observing and assisting whenever needed. We just took the "intro to Handguns" class and it was a blast (no pun intended). Marcos was our primary instructor and Chuck helped out once we got on to the shooting range. Marcos has a very conversational presentation style that invites students to participate, and he injects humor in the right places to keep it entertaining. He also instills, and reinforces, the safety rules so the class is well controlled. This class is for those whom have never shot a handgun, or those with some experience. Once you complete the classroom it's off to the gun range where you get to shoot 16 different handguns in 4 different calibers. This was a terrific format to get a feel for all of the varieties of handguns and how each form and caliber perform. This was well controlled as Marcos and Chuck were there to help and encourage each student. I would and have recommended this class to friends. I was warned the employees are "special" before I used the facility. It is not as bad as I have been told. It was very dim inside, the darkest indoor range I have been in. The workers are okay, they should really be supervised better or retrained for customer service needs. I have shot at many ranges and I am not sure if I will return. The staff seems like they spend way too much time with guns. It is like a comic book store of the 90's, experts each and everyone of them. I don't think I would bring my family here. It totaled $22 to test fire 3 guns I cleaned and repaired. At check out the clerk giggled at one of the guns because it was a 22lr. I thought that was strange, not sure what he was implying. read more

We went to the bullet trap on a Saturday night and it was an awful experience. There was a wait when we arrived so we didn't get to start shooting until 7:45. The range didn't close until 8:30 so we were only going to be able to shoot for 45 minutes. At 8:10, one of the workers came in and told us to cease fire. He said that they were having technical malfunctions so they had to close early. So we only go to shoot for 25 minutes. When we went to check out, they were going to charge us the full price even though we only got to shoot for half of the time that we paid for. When we asked for a discount, the guy said he wasn't able to do that but that we could go back out there and shoot until 8:30. Which completely contradicted what they had originally told us. It was just completely apparent that they don't care about their customers and just wanted to leave work early that day. We will never go back to this range again. read more
