Daniel was very helpful in transferring my firearm. Two other gentlemen whose names I didn't watch were also extremely helpful and gracious even when I inputted incorrect information on the 4473. They do what they can with their limited staff to get out their FFL transfers as quick as possible. They called me within a day of my firearms arriving there. There's a $10 discount for members and I'll keep ordering my transfers to go through Bullet Trap. Quite a simple task to fill out their form online, wait 48 hours for their call from the item being delivered, go in the store and fill out the form and pay the FFL fee and voilà, there's your firearm! This is my second time at a shooting range and first in TX. Found a Groupon online for free rental so we just had to buy ammo. Service was great, I can't remember who helped us but he was patient and explained everything to me. The actual range was pretty empty - only 2 other people in there and no one came in to bother us. Ammo was $16 for 50 rounds of 9mm, got to pick a less boring target poster and got standard practice targets too. After the 9mm Glock I figured what the heck I'm in Texas and wanted to shoot with something bigger so the guy helped me with a semi auto (couldn't tell you the name) which was awesome and I don't think they offer that in CA. This is gun range that isn't as fancy as some others, but the cost of membership is very, very low. If you just want a place to shoot often that doesn't cost an arm and a leg, this is the place. There is a good range of rental guns at good rental fees. The staff is also very friendly. It's hard to point to any one member of the staff being more friendly than the others, but Daniel does come to mind. read more

Over the past 20 years or so I have done business w/Bullet Trap maybe 15 times (i.e. less than 1x/year). I have been training my 19 yo daughter in gun safety/accuracy. She had never gone to the gun range w/out me. Today she did. An employee of Bullet Trap went out of his way to go out on the range and train her (and I'm sure that he knows W A Y more than I do) in shooting a firearm. She and I could not be more thankful. I will not recommend even my worst enemy to this place! I applied for my LTC and when I showed up the doors were locked but come to find out I was 5mins late which I understand i didn't make it on time for the range portion but the fact they could've at least talked to me for less then a minute saying to come back at 8:30 for the class portion but instead they looked and laughed at me while I was outside FREEZING, i also suffer from stage 2 cancer which makes the cold unbearable... Walked in to shoot today, was denied service because the guy at the counter likes to "keep pistols and rifles separate". He kept saying "I" like he owned the place, maybe he's got an ego problem. I wouldn't go here, just spend $20 somewhere else and get better service plus a nicer range. The owner needs to do something about this guy, Black Justin Bieber hair with glasses. Treated like scum! - Asked me "If everything was alright today". *I wasn't allowed entry- as if I was a threat.* I did reply to his question with 'I'm good, how are you'. He said 'fine', but he just kept staring at me in silence... It was really weird and it made me feel uncomfortable. Short, sweet, and to the point. I ordered 1 AR-15 and 2 additional 30 round magazines from Classic Firearms. I used Bullet Trap's FFL services. I received a call when the rifle arrived, went to pick it up, and Daniel provided great service. Classic Firearms sent the magazines to Bullet Trip through the US Postal Service. They sent an email to me and Bullet trap showing what items were sent. I checked the tracking number for the magazines last Thursday, it said it was delivered at 11:54 that morning. I called to ask about the package, but was told they haven't seen it. As a former Letter Carrier, I went to the post office to see if the package might have been misdelivered, these things happen. The scan packages when they arrive at the post office, and take a picture of the package. The clerk showed me the picture, which I took to Bullet trap to show them. Someone looked, but still didn't find it. I asked another gun bussiness a few doors away if they may have received the package by mistake. I was told no, but also infomed that there's a mailbox for all the businesses in from of his location. I walked down to bullet trap to ask if any has check the mail lately, and that the package may be in the mailbox. Then I was told that the manager is the only one with the key, and that he won't be back until Monday. I called with they opened, but the recording says they are still closed. My recommendation is to not use Bullet Trap as a FFL location to have your firearms shipped. The reason being, if the post office is used, and the item fits in the mailbox, you may have issues receiving your item because they rarely check their mail. Totally unacceptable. read more

My Grandson and I went into the range as part of an outing together. We were met by Joshua who quickly put our focus on the importance of safety when handling guns. We were given eye and ear protection and instructed on how to wear them properly, then taken back to the range. I am very grateful for the continued instruction inside the range and left there feeling much more comfortable when handling a gun. Gun safety was a major factor in his instructions, which made our time at the range invaluable! The employees at this range are clueless and have no knowledge of their own rules. I live 40 minutes away so I called asking to shoot green tip rounds. The guy on the phone proceeded to say yes. So I confirmed and said I have 556 armor piercing green tip rounds. Are those allowed at your range .... and he said yes we allow green tip rounds. I drove to the range 40 minutes away got there showed them my ammunition. The guy at the counter must've been clueless because he said my ammunition was allowed and then another guy came over and goes, No, that's not allowed after I was told yes over the phone. I visited this gun range during the eclipse with my brother as beginners looking to learn and have experience something new. It was our first gun range (we are from NY) so we were being extra cautious and I personally expected it to be the highlight of our trip. We rented a 9mm (most beginner friendly gun they recommended) and a hundred rounds. While most of the staff were friendly and helpful, our experience was unfortunately marred by one instructor. This individual was quite rude and yelled at us condescendingly for attempting to shoot at a target he deemed too far for our experience level. We understand the importance of safety and not damaging equipment, but the approach was unnecessarily aggressive. I tried calming him down, but It just seemed to offend his pride. This incident left us quite uncomfortable, and we decided not to return. I'm rating now, after a couple months because whenever I think back to our trip to Dallas, I can't help but remember this event. It was so sudden and unexpected that I really didn't even feel comfortable being around that man and guns. It's a shame, as the rest of the staff seemed great. read more

Affordable gun range. A bit grungy but so are most ranges unless you want to pay top dollar. My biggest and only real complaint is that it is freezing in there in the winter and stinking hot in the summer. Last time I went I couldn't wait to finish up and get out I was so drenched in sweat. This is not a one off thing either. This has been going on for years. The owners (same that own Frisco gun club I believe) need to invest some money on AC that works. read more

Ridiculous rules and constant disturbance when shooting. The price is ok but the amount of times they come in when you're safely handling an unloaded weapon from the bag (pointed downward and down range with nobody else around) is very disruptive. The rifle room is a 2 lane about 6 feet wide or so, there isn't much room for sound suppression so make sure your hearing protection is good as the room does a terrible job with managing it. Spent rounds are laying everywhere, nobody goes in and regularly pushes the cases out of the way so watch your step so you don't fall. Very disappointing as this place wasn't like this about a decade ago. read more

The place is a dump. The overgrown weeds out front should be the first sign "you shouldn't go in." But we did, my son and I. You can read the other reviews about the quality of this 1970 era facility is like. Whatever you have in your mind, make it 30% worse. It was the customer service however that stands out. After shooting, I had a question about my gun. I checked and cleared it. Removed the mag and it was locked back. Before I say anything he says "Don't bring a F-ing loaded gun up here." I said I had a question and would he rather me holster it, then remove it to ask my question? I asked how it was different from any other gun in the shop behind me. It wasn't. If we was not aware of gun safety he should not be working here going off "half cocked." Rule one when working around guns, be calm and collected. Won't be going back and if you decide to go I hope you like guessing where your target is. Hope you like sweating like Mike Tyson at a spelling bee. I have gone to the Bullet Trap for several years. Today I went there to shoot my 9mm pistol. It was 106 Temp today and the AC in the range was not working. I asked when it would be operational and was told it would be after the first of the year. Weird ??? Only one other customer there. The water/soft drink vending machine has not worked in months. I asked about the status of the vending machine and was told they requested it to be picked up. I have watched this gun range continue to go down hill over the last couple of years. Not sure they will be open for business much longer. At any rate, there are other new gun ranges in the market. Wish the Bullet Trap good luck in the future as I plan to go to The Range in McKinney, TX in the future. read more

Divey vibes, but there plenty of lanes. First off, I kept reading about the A/C does not work. Well let me tell you, it was warm inside the lanes. But once you get past that. The lanes have an older pulley system for targets. I really liked that there was no one there in the pistol lanes. The retail area looked pretty stocked. The staff was friendly. But please fix the AC and it will make it a ton better. read more

Looking for a range late last year I hesitated after seeing a few reviews complaining about the staff being surly, but I signed up anyway and am glad I did. I don't know what "Bullet Trap" those other reviewers have been going to, but every single time I've been there in the past 6-8 months they've always been VERY friendly and helpful. Part of me hates to throw shade on other reviewers since I wasn't there with them, but after my consistently positive experiences I have to wonder if maybe the real problem wasn't the staff but the customer. Granted, the facility itself isn't the Ritz-Carlton, but if you're looking for a place where they'll serve you hors d'oeuvres between reloads there are a couple of other options available -- and they're priced accordingly. If, on the other hand, you're like me and need something affordable and can live without the white glove treatment you should at least pay Bullet Trap a visit and decide for yourself. read more

If you are the kind of person who likes being yelled at by employees and managers then you will likely love this place. I went here with a friend who ironically had free range passes due to terrible customer service he received on another occasion. So he invited me and headed back to try them again. Before I get on to how terrible the service we received was, I'll give a quick review of the rifle shooting area. The rifle shooting area is bare-bones and does not have any of the amenities a typical range would have, including such things as a table for setting up equipment, or a dustpan for picking up old shells. I guess you just have to sweep them off the floor with your hands. The lanes are super small and you will be hit by the ejecting cartridges. Last, it is very dark in there, but if you have a good rifle scope it will compensate, however tough luck for those using iron or holographic sights. It'd be much better if they simulated daylight down the range. Perhaps they could use some of the excessive penalty fees they charge to pay for lights?? What penalty fees you ask? Well, read on: We visited the rifle range and weren't allowed to go to the pistol range after that, which I'll explain. In the rifle range, they give you a stick to hold the targets and they say "If you shoot the stick it will cost you $20." Sure enough, we must have had a stray bullet because there was a small nick in the stick. It was a very small nick. I went to the counter, and they told me they would be charging me $20 for the nick. Bear in mind this stick is made of a mere $1.50 in parts consisting of balsa wood and a metal clip (I am going to upload a picture of the stick for reference). I told the guy I would pay the $20 but I wanted to keep the stick. He said "Uhh be right back" and left. When he returned, he said if I wanted to keep it then "it would cost $50" and then he chuckled, and asked for the $20 again. Once again, I insisted on the stick being given to me. We both knew the stick was not in bad shape and they would simply give it to the next customer. Why should I pay then $20 and not get to keep the $1.50 stick? It's a rip off anyway... I might as well get to keep the memorabilia, right? This time a new person shows up, presumably a manager. He gives me the same line about then not being able to give me the stick. He said I was asking for an exception, which I corrected, telling him that I was willing to pay. I wasn't asking to not be charged, I simply wanted to keep the stick I was paying for. He then shouts to the guys behind the counter "GIVE ME THE DAMN STICK" and then he snaps it in half, slams it down on the counter as hard as he could and shouts at me "PAY THE $20." Then the other guy behind the counter says "pack up your stuff" and I said, we still want to use the pistol range, and he tells me "too bad." I told them I thought it was a real shame they decided to become so emotional over this simple issue and run me off. I told them I would be posting about my experience online to which the ill-tempered manager said "DO IT! I'll tell them what you did!!" as if I did something wrong. I highly recommend finding somewhere else to patronize with your business. I was very disappointed in my experience here. read more
