We recently hired Buildpro Construction for a fairly extensive exterior repair and paint project, and overall had a really positive experience. Their team handled a variety of work for us, including removing and replacing areas of wood rot, repairing cracks in the stucco, priming, and also painting our fence. They also fixed a couple of problem areas we were especially concerned about--severe wood rot around our irreplaceable picture window, and a completely rotted window sill on one of our faux windows. Both were repaired cleanly and professionally, and those areas now look great. There was also an area where the stucco meets the bottom of the garage; they fixed that, and it wasn't even a second thought for us. Throughout the project, Buildpro was easy to work with--communication was smooth, and the crew was respectful and efficient. Value is good for the cost but since we went with coollife (a 50yr lifespan), a new review would be needed in 5-10yrs which is the typical painting life span. After the job was completed, a few minor details were missed, mostly on the second floor and near the roofline. There are a handful of small spots where primer is still visible or where the original paint colour shows through. Most of these are the areas covered by protective paper or tape for primer and were not touched up afterwards. Some fine details are alo missed where the glazing putty meets the glass on the window. That said, the core work they did--especially the repairs--was solid, it took around 9-10 days of work (typically their jobs are 4 days), and we're happy with the overall outcome. With a bit more attention to final detail and touch-ups, this would have been a perfect experience. We'd still recommend Buildpro Construction, especially for larger repair projects, and would work with them again. read more

A representative came by our home, knocking incessantly, and asked if we were interested in a new roof. My husband scheduled the free quote that was promised as a quick 15-minute visit. It ended up being 3 hours long -- they didn't wrap up the sales talk until I outright said I couldn't listen anymore and had reached my saturation point. They also made sure we would both be there for the sales pitch -- they wasted a lot of our time pulling us away from work. It was exhausting, to say the least. I felt like I was at a timeshare sales convention! The mistake we made was letting them into our home after the roof inspection. Never again -- they used every sales tactic under the sun: a high initial price of $29k for an 800-square-foot-plus-garage basic tract home in Lawndale, then 10 minutes later a so-called discount brought it down to $26k, which I later realized, after reading reviews, was just another sales tactic. My husband then said no, and after their back-and-forth calls with the "boss," they further reduced the price to $19.9k. They then proceeded to call us incessantly that same afternoon and the following day. My husband called the number on their business card to ask them to stop calling, but unfortunately it's not a personal number -- you're just directed to the main line, where you're accosted with more "let's make a deal" pitches. We found the whole process incredibly stressful and would never work with this company after having to go through that. Unfortunately, I can see that many other people have been through the same thing. This company doesn't feel trustworthy after the sales experience, and it appears to be shady AF. read more

I signed a $5,000 exterior trim painting contract with Build Pros Construction on July 31 2026. Their representative, Marco Navas, spent approximately two hours at my home reviewing the project and explaining why I should move forward with their company. He was friendly, professional, and persuasive, and I signed the contract in good faith. DJ Huerta then visited the property as the production manager, and we discussed a possible start date. Nearly three weeks later, no work has started, I have no confirmed schedule, and DJ has not responded to my text messages. I have called the office four or five times. The representative Dianne has been courteous and promised that someone would investigate and call me back, but nobody has. I also sent a formal fax and email and still received no meaningful response. Marco worked hard to earn my business, but after I signed the contract and submitted my information for financing, the communication completely stopped. Questioning homeowners about roofs and painting and window upgrades.. that's not passing out flyers when your guys knock on doors and start talking construction. When we decided to get our house painted before the end of this summer I checked the usually sources. Friends, Angi's list, flyers and other homes I'd seen painted in my area. As we were compiling the list we had a canvasser from Build Pros hit our house so we made an appointment. They failed to show up and rescheduled and failed to show up again, so at this point I wrote them off. I had meetings with 5 other contractors and got quotes on painting the house. Prices ranged from $4500 to $27,600. For regular paint to Life Coat. As we were getting ready to make a decision I got a call from Build Pros asking about if we ever received their quote. I informed them that no one showed up for either appt., so we had no quote. They next day the owner called me and asked for another chance promising to come himself. He kept his word and his team completely examined and measured my house. They offered me what I felt was an exceptional offer on the Cool Life product, more than $7K less than I'd been quoted. I was offered the same 50 year warranty. I took their offer. They job was done in 5 days and they came back to fix any issues I asked about without complaint. I love they look of my house it looks better than I ever remember. The Cool Life has really helped the heat issue for heat on my 2nd floor better than I expected. First of all he was obnoxiously loud and very unprofessional let him know that I was not interested right now at this moment ,if he wanted to leave a flyer and I will get in contact with them when I'm ready. These guys are incredibly unprofessional. I had an appointment scheduled, and no one showed up. Then, three hours later, the technician called claiming he had been waiting on my porch and argued with me that he had been there. After going back and forth, he finally admitted he was at the wrong address. On top of that, every time they call, they refuse to identify the company they work for and only give a first name, which comes across as extremely sketchy. I didn't receive services from them but this is for their door to door solicitation. The guy bangs on our window and yells "hello?!? Anyone home?!? Hello?!?" We work from home and become startled. My dog starts barking and barking. He continues to yell "anyone home?!?" I answer him on the ring and he starts his spiel. I told him I wasn't interested and he continues to talk loudly. He starts rattling my metal door setting off my dog more. Not sure why this company feels like an aggressive approach is the best. There are previous negative reviews about their aggressive approach. I had new windows installed and tried communicating with Build Pros numerous times with 3 different people and not one of them called to let me know when they were coming out to fix problem. I felt I am paying $1000.00+each for new windows I think caulking around window should be pretty close to perfect! The caulking is rippled on just about everyone of the windows! One window has scratches on the top frame. After calling to complain again someone called me back to say they weren't coming out to fix their unprofessional window installation! He said as long as the windows are not leaking they are fine! Scratches on window frame he replied you have scratches on the outside of your house! We requested to have landscaping torn out and concrete put in to extend our driveway. The also ended up building a small wall to prevent soil from our neighbor to come over. Good: They laid concrete for us and built a small cinder block wall. Everything looks good and looks well done. When they were done, they did a good job cleaning up after themselves. Jerimiah and Jose did a good job explaining the timeline and what to expect. The reps and the workers did their jobs well. Based on the odd shape and slope of the driveway it seemed like the concrete job was competitively priced when looking online. Heads up: The other part of their job is to encourage you to sign on the day of the visit with various discounts and offers. If that stresses you out, or you want to shop around, then plan accordingly. read more

I've had similar, if not identical, experiences with a door-to-door representative who say they're "working in your neighborhood" as a way to approach each home and build rapport. I gave the representative the benefit of the doubt and agreed to schedule an appointment for a roofing quote. I was told the appointment would take about one hour. When the appointment took place, two project managers arrived and ended up staying at our home for four hours. This is where we immediately lost trust. Not only did they take a significant portion of our day without prior notice, far beyond the promised hour, but most of that time was spent trying to sell us their products and services (despite repeatedly saying they were "not sales"). We didn't even receive the quote until right around the four-hour mark. During the visit, they also mentioned they didn't have much work in our area and were trying to build visibility locally, which directly contradicted the original claim that they were already "working in our neighborhood." They also tried to play out the hours of time they spent with us as an act of care... The quote itself was also much higher than we expected for a home that's only 1,200 square feet. After four hours, when the meeting should have ended after one hour, we wrapped things up. A large portion of the conversation consisted of unrelated customer stories and commentary about avoiding Yelp reviews. While I appreciate hearing about past customers, those stories did not help us meet our goal of receiving a straightforward quote for our specific home. I initially decided not to write this review. However, in early March, I received a call from another representative mentioning a "spring special" and promising we would be "very happy" with a new number. I was told they couldn't share the number over the phone and would need to stop by the house to provide it, describing it as a simple handoff. While I understand the reasoning behind not sharing pricing over the phone, it has now been two months, and I continue to receive calls. If someone doesn't answer after three or four attempts, I would recommend removing them from the call list. I continue to receive these calls on a weekly basis at least 2-3 times and it is now May. Given that the original door-to-door interaction misrepresented the appointment length, I don't trust that this will truly be a "simple drop-off." Based on the original quote we received after a four-hour meeting, I'm also doubtful that we would be happy with any revised number. Women, beware. I scheduled a consultation for a simple turf quote, and what I experienced was blatant sexism and unprofessionalism. Despite my husband being home--literally just in the next room--they REFUSED to give me a quote because "the man of the house" wasn't present. Yes, you read that right. The moment I opened the door, their very first question was, "Is your husband home?" Not "Hello," not "How can we help?"--just straight to checking if a man was around. From that point on, their tone shifted, and it was clear they didn't take me seriously. I was dismissed, talked down to, and ultimately denied service simply because I'm a woman. All I wanted was a quote. Not a contract. Not a commitment. Just a quote. But apparently, that was too much to ask without a man present. When they came out approx. a week later to discuss when to start job they told me they measured wrong and the new correct measurement was 1200 sq. ft. and that the price would go up approx. $4000.00. Incredibly pushy with zero respect for a customer's time. Their roofing salesman stayed in our living room for 3.5 hours. My baby ate, took a nap, ate again and this man was still there. Absolutely could not read the room. Over-explained what should have been a 30-45 presentation. Tops. The incompetence didn't stop once we told them we weren't moving forward. The following day I received nearly 20 follow up phone calls until I answered. And despite reiterating our lack of interest in their product, the phone calls persisted day in and day out for weeks. I had to repeatedly tell them to remove me from their call list. This was three months ago. They called me again today. I have to assume the head of their sales department does not have a lot of personal relationships. Even the response to my review is over the top and scripted, it almost matches responses by Build Pros to other negative reviews. I was not overwhelmed in the least. When I asked questions I was given vague or scripted answers that mostly did not directly answer the questions. I was quoted by several other companies for the same scope of work, materials, and warranties that were very similar or matched the ones being described by Build Pros (except for the ridge line venting Build Pros said I needed when other much cheaper options were available) prices that were 30% to 60% less than Build Pros' vague numbers. I learned Build Pros is about sales, not customer experience. I can't speak about quality of product, but if my sales experience reflects the completed product, I'm very glad I went another direction. read more

I was approached with a quote that would only take 20 mins at the most. When 2 men showed up, they came with a drone to do an aerial shot of my roof. Then these men came into my house, in which did not take the 20 mins I was promised, but instead were here for about 3 hours, going back and forth with the "boss" about lowering prices and in several occasions extending their hands out and asking "Do we have a deal". In the previous reviews mentioned about not considering family and time, they remain and insist in trying to pursue to close the deal with them. From what was $37k, they brought it down to $17k. I was really excited about getting my kitchen redone and after careful consideration I chose build pros construction. The cabinets doors are falling apart, and the doors are thinner than a cardboard box. I was guaranteed that they would last a lifetime (at least more than 2 years) and the tiles were installed so poorly that they are loose and rattled every time the washing machine rinse cycle starts. They didn't install the tiles in correctly so the loose tiles have caused a rodent problem. Build pros construction has been asked to fix the tiles and replace the cabinets doors. But each time I have called a woman named Diane answers the phone and takes my complaint but no one responds. I have been calling over a year now read more

Build Pros did give us a refund of $1k (our deposit) but it wasn't for the permit incident. It was because they had notified the finance company the project was done a day before they were set to start. They are supposed to do this once the job is fully completed. Our project started in March and they didn't finish til end of June. Horrible service. Update 5/16/25: removed 1 Star for post project support. Left 5 messages (requesting warranty info) between 5/6 and 5/16 before finally getting a call back. Original Review: Overpriced for mediocre work. I won't be using them again. I had them paint and repair stucco , install rain gutters and repair grout. Gutters and grout are fine but the paint and stucco didn't go as well. - the stucco repair looks good - they fixed huge areas of "stucco cancer" - paint looks great from the street but when you get up close you see the uneven lines, drips and smudges that I'd expect if I painted it myself but not from a professional. - I had them return four times for fixes and I finally gave up. - claimed drips and rough edges were due to prior paint work, but shouldn't that have been fixed in prep? - they painted over dirt, clumps of dead grass, leaves and even a small advertisement around the base of the house - they poured paint on the lawn and burned spots that are still dead (and painted) more than 7 weeks later! - they painted the inside of my new rain gutters after telling me they would mask them - they painted over electrical outlets, cords and cables, which I did not find professional read more

I had them come out to check out if I need to replace my roof and they said it's fine but then they are trying to sell me on sealing my roof and I didn't want that because they don't take no for an answer and keep calling and have people come out to your house to talk to you and bring down the price. They ended up calling 5 times in the same day all from different people in there office and it was about the same thing every time. read more
