We're currently in escrow for a home purchase and reached out to J&S Roofing for a roof inspection and estimate. Serafin came out to the property, and I was genuinely impressed by how thorough and detailed he was. He walked us through his observations on-site and provided a very clear, professional explanation of what needed attention. The estimate arrived the next day--quick, organized, and easy to understand. I initially contacted J&S because they handle both roofing and gutter installation, and their reviews were consistently positive. After meeting Serafin, I felt confident that I made the right choice. I also loved hearing that this is a family business--started by his father and now run by three brothers, which really speaks to their pride and integrity in their work. Serafin even showed us another house nearby where they had recently completed a roof project, and the work looked excellent--clean, solid, and professional. It was reassuring to see the quality of their craftsmanship right in the neighborhood. Buying a home can be incredibly stressful, with so many big financial decisions to make in a short period of time. Serafin's professionalism, clarity, and patience made the process so much easier, and his inspection and estimate truly helped us make informed decisions during escrow. We hope to move forward with this home and have the opportunity to work with Serafin and his team on the roof replacement. (I'll be sure to update this review once the project is completed, but so far, my experience with J&S Roofing has been excellent!) read more

J &S was very professional and the owner came out to check on progress. A very fair and competitive price. Would recommend to any one in the area. read more

We couldn't be happier with J & S Roofing. We received the estimate (which happened to be less than 2 other companies) within 1 day of calling. After deciding to go forward with them, we were scheduled for 2 weeks later. The estimated time in which the job was to be complete was met and it came out great. During the process, they updated us with their progress (even sending us drone footage of our roof - so cool) constantly. At the end of each day, they made sure our property was cleaned up and confirmed the next day arrival time, etc. Serafin Jr. was truly a pleasure to work with - extremely kind, knowledgeable, and very willing to answer any questions (and he loves dogs - bonus)! My son had referred them to us and we will definitely be doing the same. read more

We had a 30 year old roof and it was time to replace it...way overdue! We already had another company under contract that had done repairs for us in the past to put a second layer over the existing roof, which is legal in RB. We chose that over a complete replacement because the quote was more than we could afford. The roofer delayed our scheduled replacement and then said they would only be able to have 1 or 2 workers working it due to staffing problems. That was the time we decided to look elsewhere and got a quote from Serafin at J&S. His quote was $6K less for a complete roof replacement and he would have 5 to 6 workers on the job and get it completed in 2 days! As he had been highly recommended to us from a friend of my wife, it was an easy decision. He was done in 2 days and our roof looks great. Everything was tarped off so it wouldn't get dirty and at the end of each day it was cleaner than when they started. Robert, his lead on the job was a joy to work with. FIVE THUMBS UP AND 20 STARS! read more

Had my roof done by J & S Roofing and they did an amazing job. Very professional and fast (4 days). I found them through a contractor who was working on my house. They prepped the working areas with ram board and cleaned all the debris once the project was done. I didn't see any nails when they left. Pricing is reasonable and they use high quality product (GAF for our project). Highly recommend! read more

Very responsive during the repair process. Quickly came out, identified my issue and quick turn around to resolve it. Had an appointment and they needed to move some times around. Unlike other repairs I've done with other companies, they remained in contact with me with updates when crew would arrive. Let's hope dealing roof works for next rain. read more

If you're like me, you watch the water stain on your ceiling grow and worry about it until you can't procrastinate any longer. Thanks to Serafin and crew at J & S Roofing for providing professional and timely roof repair services just before the next storm came in. Last spring J&S Roofing upgraded my large and steep Spanish tile roof with new underlayment, valleys, flashing, dormer vents, etc. Angel Campos and his father, Serafin Campos, or their associate, Wilber, were on site daily to oversee the job. True professionals! For my next potential home, I'll be sure to have J&S inspect the roof before purchase. read more

This review is not based on their work. I recently called a ton of companies to do some work on my house. Last week this company made an appointment for Monday at 11AM to come by and give me a quote. They NO SHOWED and didn't even bother to call. So I called several hours later and they asked to book for Wednesday same time. NO SHOWED AGAIN. Wow so I guess business is good but says a lot about their reliability. And they obviously don't care about wasting other people's time. Not one other company pulled this. Pretty rare actually as all the others even call on the way or let me know if running late. Thanks for tying me at home when I've got a ton of things to do. read more

Very happy with our new roof. Beautiful! The city inspector even commented that it was beautiful work! That really gave me peace of mind. Seraphin and Angel are very professional AND friendly as well as their staff. It was a pleasure to work with everyone. They answered every question and took care of any concerns I had. They even coordinated the city inspector throughout the job. I would definitely use them again. I highly recommend. read more

We had several roofers assess our leaking roof and Serafin's assessment was by far the most thorough - he caught failures and details others did not. His team not only did a great job on the roof, but went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. Very professional, great communication and a pleasure to work with. Highly recommend Serafin and his team. read more

We are so happy with this great roof job! The job took 3 days (just as contracted) and each day the workers left our place neat a pin. The crew was cheerful and wiling to address every request we gave them. Serafin and his crew re-roofed our house with such professionalism and concern for detail that we could not be more satisfied. We are especially satisfied because J & S' bid was very competitive! We HIGHLY RECOMMEND this well run and skilled roofing company. read more

From start to finish Serafin Jr. was responsive, helpful, patience, he answered all my questions and go above and beyond! THIS IS FOR THE BID PROCESS ONLY I had the pleasure of meeting with Luis & Serafin Jr. who bid on doing some roof work for me. They were professional, detailed, and on time when it came to reviewing the job and giving me a quote. I can't say any one thing prevented them from getting the job. Their quote was on the higher end of the scale, but it was not outrageous. Maybe the next project, thanks again for your time and professionalism guys. read more

I had a fantastic experience with J&S Roofing. There were on time, honest, and communicative.

Awesome Business....family owned and run. It has been tough to get anyone to come out and give a estimate for a reroof/ repair with all the rain this past season to look at my 2piece clay tile roof. I was told by many they could not come out for several weeks and could not start the job for 2-4 months. Angel came out 2 days after I called and I received a estimate within 3 days. He was very professional and recommended I replace the 1 section of my roof with the very small leak, saying that clay tile roofs should last a long time and if no other leaks are seen elsewhere to wait. I appreciated that very upfront answer versus trying to be upsold. Their pricing is very fair. They started work on my roof 2 weeks later and completed the reroofing project in 3 days as promised. They cleaned up every day and I was excited that hardly any of the original tiles were broken during this process and could be reused. Angel even coordinated with the Solar Panel Company to have the panels removed and reinstalled in such a way that even they did not damage any clay tiles during the solar panel removal and reinstallation since a pathway was created for them to get to the panels. I would definitely use them again but hope it is not too soon! Don't waste your time calling other companies who were slow to respond since they are all so busy trying to catch up with their many roofing projects delayed by the many days of the rain this season. read more

Their service was quick, responsive and transparent. They provided a no cost assessment and provided their estimate for their work.

Easy and no hassle (seriously). Love these guys. They showed up at the scheduled time, hopped on my roof (even though I wasn't able to be there in person), emailed me a quote later, gave me a timeframe for a few weeks later and then knocked it out in 1 day. They provided drone footage and photos as progress updates throughout the day. This is compared to every other contractor that requires ~2 hours of your time to make you sit through a presentation and various theatrics including the standard list of questions like "what are you looking for in a contractor/ have you gotten other quotes/ where do they stand with respect to the other contractors/ trying to disrespect and put down any other contractors doing work on your house/ asking multiple times if I'm married and where the decision maker is" -- let me tell you what a relief it was working with Serafin and his crew who were straightforward and polite. read more

Serafin's inspection was very thorough. showed me picture's and explained why I need to replace my roof. He sent me a quote rhat was very reasonable. We have a Koi pond and Serafin was VERY protective of them, put up a canopy to keep them from harm. Serafin and his team were very professional and arrived on time.(that's a big plus these days). His team left my place VERY clean. Never had that happen before, was awesome. Would use them again. Thank you Setafin and team. Best job ever. read more

J & S Roofing did a professional and thorough inspection of roof and did a very good job on repairing and replacing areas. We previously had a rooftop AC unit removed and J & S Roofing did a great job of repairing the area so that the area where the AC unit used to sit was aligned with the rest of the roof again. They replaced the rusted out sola tube and repaired the areas of the roof that got damaged by the recent heavy rains. They kept me updated on timelines and what needed to be repaired through text and email. I would recommend this company and use them again when roof needs replacing or repairing. Thank you Serafin and team read more

Two stars is because I requested a quote on yelp. But no response from this company. Until I messaged to close the task. As I found someone to do it. Then I received the message, "I'm booked at that time". Hopefully I won't need a roof repair company in the future. But don't think I'd reach out to them. read more

We had J & S Roofing replace our entire roof some years ago, and we couldn't be happier with their work. We just reached out to them this past week to schedule an estimate for a count of how many electrical attic fans we'd need to install them. It went so well, that they came back the next day to install them, and they were done! They also did us a huge favor by informing us that there are areas in/on the roof that weren't completed when we had electrical work done last month, and they took picture for us to show the electrical company that did the work. Thank God for pointing out those areas in the attic that the electricians failed to finish and left us open for a possible leaky roof! Thank you J & S Roofing read more

Serafin, who owns the business with his father (they have been in business since 1999), is very responsive and attentive to details. We just bought a home, and the inspector found some issues with the roof (missing flashing, vent caps, shingles, etc.) Serafin gave us what we felt to be a very reasonable quote, and was able to take care of the work in less than a week from the time of the quote. The job itself took less than one day. We felt Serafin went above and beyond with some of the repairs, even doing things not called out in the report, like painting the vent to match the roof. We plan to hire J&S for other jobs in the future, and will highly recommend them to friends and family. Thank you, J&S! read more

Had minor leak around a vent pipe and called numerous roofers for roof maintenance. Some never returned call, some said they were too busy, one came out and looked at roof for estimate but never called back. J&S came out, walked the roof, and gave estimate for roof maintenance which consisted of caulking all vents, painting vents roof color, inspecting flashing around chimneys and caulking. Also included replacing broken tiles (clay tile roof). They also added some screws to skylight since it was a little loose. They came out within a week of my picking them, showed up promptly and went to work. Ended up replacing 4 tiles. Serafin was great to work with, did the estimate, and came out to check with me while his workers were doing the job to insure I was pleased. If I need roof repair again, I will definitely call them. read more

Look no further if you need your roof done in the South Bay. Our aging home did not fare well in the heavy rain this past year, so we decided to look for local roofers. We're so glad to have found J & S Roofing. Serafin and Angel were a pleasure to work with as they made the process very simple for me and my family. They did a detailed initial inspection of our roof and the quote+detailed list of work items were ready for us shortly afterwards. We simply had to select the color of our shingles, agree on a date to start the work, and the rest is history! The crew worked quickly and were detail-oriented. We even got to test out our new roof as it started to rain heavily just a few days after the job was finished. The roof held strong and we are very happy with the result. Thanks again, J & S Roofing! read more

Our roof was badly damaged in December 2021 from the rainstorms that hit LA. Not only did J & S provide fast responses but they were extremely friendly. Most of all we deeply appreciated their transparency and knowledge around roofing. They discovered 5+ layers of old roof that the previous owners had piled on top of one another. This layer upon layer created structural damage, releasing old roof debris into our drains and gutters which lead to the horrible leaks. No other general contractors had pointed this out before to us when repairing leaks! We are very happy with the re-roofing they performed and all the service they provided. Highly recommend! read more

They are very responsive and were able to come quickly to check on a roof leak that was a bit tricky to locate on a flat roof. It was an urgent repair as rain was coming within 48 hours. J&S just finished a new roof on our house. From getting a quote through to the actual project, they were pros. Replacing the roof on your house is probably one of the most, if not the most, expensive home repair you'll ever do. My old roof leaked almost right after it was installed 23 years ago. Not only was it poorly installed, but back then it wasn't against code for a lazy roofer to install a new roof OVER an existing older one to save cost. Also, my home is old (built in 1957) and still had the original gravel roof beneath the next two installed above it. So that made three, count 'em THREE roofs I needed to have removed before I installed a new one. Over the last 23 years I was constantly plagued by leaks (one that even poured water into my living room during a particularly bad storm) and the subsequent repairs to dry wall and mold abatement that followed. I was anxious every time it rained because I never knew when or where I would have my next major leak. I decided to bite the bullet this year I engaged J&S Roofing for the job. They didn't have a lot Yelp or Google reviews but the ones they had were positive and I decided to hire them based on a recommendation from a handyman I completely trust. Best decision I ever made. To begin with the owner, Serafin is certified by the City of Los Angeles so is qualified as a roof inspector himself -- and they are family-owned which I always prefer. I've found that family-owned businesses take a lot more pride in their work and reputation. Unlike some big company with multiple crews, Serafin was there for the entire job working with his brother and two sons alongside their crew making sure the job was done right. And what a major job it turned out to be. (Removing the two previous composite shingle roofs and then scraping off the original gravel roof beneath those two came to a combined weight of fourteen tons) Because my house is old, I also had a technically difficult roof with a lot of dips, hills and valleys along with multiple skylights that needed a lot of extra attention to make them leak proof. The composite shingle roof they installed was a high quality 'cool roof' designed to reflect heat and keep the house cooler in the summer. Serafin, his family and crew were professional, friendly and extremely helpful during the whole process so I always felt I was in good hands. The proof of that came right away. The day after they finished, we were hit with the biggest rainstorm of the year - the kind of deluge that always made anxious and tense because a leak somewhere was always in the cards. This time, inside my house was bone dry. It was a wonderful feeling to finally relax and enjoy the sound of the rain for the first in many years. I can't recommend these guys highly enough. read more

J&S Roofing is the best at everything that they do. Proficient with outstanding customer service. Scheduling and tardiness is not a problem with them either. Had several Solar-tubes/skylights put into my home and I couldn't be more happy with the outcome. I highly recommend J&S for your roofing and skylight needs. Thank you J&S! read more
