I had two keys made, neither one worked. I went to Carlson Hardware in Wheaton and the key worked perfectly!

We…read morewere warmly greeted by the host who acknowledged our event and seated us in the back overlooking the brew room, very nice. It was my first visit to your restaurant though my wife has been here before with friends. Chad was our server. He pleasantly explained the drink and dining menus and took good care of us all evening. My bride had her favorite drink, The French Martini, and you guys nailed it for her! I was very happy with the 2025 Pils. Dinner was amazing, Skirt steak for her, brisket for me with Yukon potatoes following salads for both of us. The quality and taste of the food was great and makes us want to come back and sample other dishes. We received great service and a nice complimentary glass of champagne (with Ho-Ho's) to finish our celebration. At the end of the evening we received a big surprise when Chad came over with news that we had no bill to pay as my wife's daughter and her husband had secretly called to pay the tab! So thoughtful of them to treat us and to top off a memorable meal and milestone in our lives.

Went to Hardware in North Aurora and came away with mixed feelings…read more The good: ambiance is great and the drinks were on point. Had the Marilyn saison and a solid dark beer. Bar program is strong. The short rib pot pie was a straight up winner. Rich, comforting, and not trying to be anything other than good food done right. The bone marrow lost me. Cooked well, but buried under too many microgreens and then oddly topped with tortilla chip strips. No smokiness either. It felt more confused than cohesive. Where it really started to miss was the overall approach. A lot of "the chef intends this..." type explanations. It ends up feeling like the food insists upon itself instead of just letting you enjoy it. That's the bigger issue. This place exists in a space where I don't think most people want to meet it. Not casual enough to relax, not refined enough to justify the performance. Bottom line: good drinks, great pot pie, but the experience tries a little too hard.

Subject: This Home Depot is a big cheater! I bought 2…read moretwo-gallon paint buckets with the correct lids for them. I forgot to bring my credit card so I paid cash for them. When I arrived home, I noticed that these were poorly made and the lids weren't light enough so I couldn't store paint there because it would harden since it wasn't air tight. I decided to return them sometime. Yesterday, I decided to return them, but I misplaced the receipt. I went to the Carol Stream HD to return it. Since I paid by cash and I had no receipt, HD just gave me a store credit for $8.62. I thought that that this was correct, but when I returned home, I found that they only gave me a penny for each of the lids and I found out from the HD website that each of the lids were $2.48 plus tax. I went back to the HD to complain about it. The CS rep said that I was only given a penny each because I had no receipt. They would only give it to me at their lowest price at a penny and she said that the cashier failed to tell me about it. I said that you were the same person who served me and I remember your face and how you look. I can't imagine how a large company like HD could cheat a customer of $5.36! This HD is a cheater and I would not go back there. I'd rather patronize Menards or ACE Hardware because they don't cheat and are more helpful to customers. One more thing, HD is expensive. Their prices are at least 30% more expensive than Menards. That is why I buy at Menards.

I can't get myself to go in the opposite direction from my main errand, even if the total distance covered ends up being longer. Needed parts, specifically garage door hinges. It's a huge Menards, with very large signs attached from the ceiling indicating which was what. We went to the same area where they sell garage door openers, hoping to find someone to help us. But nope, the hanging display had steel hinges. I was afraid that they would only sell them in complete sets, but they sold them individually . There wasn't a huge variety or brands, but the piece we wanted was there and for a low price (same as what Amazon was selling a hinge for). So we got a couple of different ones, a set of rollers in case the existing ones could be replaced. It wasn't too busy, but they had enough registers open so the wait was minimal (one person in front of us). Menards has the payment register all the way at the end of the shopping belt, so as soon as it's your turn, you are encouraged to move there so you can bag your own purchases while paying for it. it does mean that you can't verify the scanned price is what you think it is. We paid and were on our way...need to make sure that our 11% rebate forms are filled out and submitted.

To me that would be like wearing the exact same style every season. I used to go to paint stores or superstores to get my paint. I would have to stand in long lines, waiting my turn with contractors and painters. Then I discovered that I could purchase Benjamin Moore paint right here. I've never had to wait. I'm out the door in just a matter of minutes. No more trekking clear out to Rt 59 or waiting in line behind pros who are there to pick up their 20 gallons of paint. I've never even waited in line at all here. But paint aside, 1) They always have what I need, whether it's soil, plants, pots, parts, rakes or picture wire. 2) The store is very convenient to shop since it isn't a mega store. --I don't walk by isles and isles of lumber, carpet, bathtubs and bidets just to buy a screw driver. 3) Excellent customer service. I don't think I've ever been in there for more than a minute before someone asked me if I need help with anything.
