Bug Head just left my house a few minutes ago and I wanted to go ahead and get a review out there. Austin was the tech that came out to treat our house and he was excellent. He was very polite and knowledgeable. He asked about where I'd been seeing bugs and made sure to explain how he was going to treat against them and why that would be effective. He treated a few spots inside and our entire outside and he made great recommendations on some things I could do to help keep the bugs out of the house (such as trimming back a few bushes that were in contact with the house). They have a fast response time. They all seem friendly. They give you no headaches about any issue. They treated my just moved into home last month and killed many ticks, spiders, gnats, silverfish, ants, and other bugs I can't even name. After the really cold weather came, some bugs found their way back in the house by crawling in and up the walls. I called bughead because they said their treatment should be quarterly. They were able to come out the next day and re treat the entire house. They even noticed where bugs found a way in and heavily treated those areas. Easy 5 stars for the service! read more

Upgrading to 5 stars. We've been with Bughead for about 6 months now and have had nothing but exemplary service from them. They have come out for a total of 3 'maintenance' perimeter sprays as well as two additional times for control of smaller insect outbreaks (once for ants and once for roaches that were invading our home's interior despite the perimeter spraying). They have been responsive, courteous and knowledgable. We also finally had our proprietary termite stations inspected by them, which saves me from having to try to coordinate with a second pest control company (and has also relieved me of the anxiety that our home will be gobbled up by termites). One minor quibble would be there are still some communication issues to be worked out. After I called about the roach problem, apparently our tech, Austin, was scheduled to come out but we were not notified of this appointment, so we ended up missing him. We were able to eventually re-schedule in a timely manner but for a few days, I thought the company simply hadn't responded to my roach concern. Apparently, an e-mail was sent re: original appointment that I did not receive. I'd suggest perhaps creating a redundant communication system so clients get notified two ways of upcoming appts to avoid these sorts of gaps in communication (e-mail, phone, and/or text as per customer preference). One of my favorite things that our dentist's office does is text AND call so you definitely know when an appt is coming up. Seems pretty do-able and low-tech enough. Anyway, don't hesitate to give Bughead a call. They're a great local company and I look forward to continuing to work with them for years to come! read more

I really wanted to get our new home treated before we moved in. I called BugHead on a Monday and we were moving in Thursday. I figured it was a long shot but when I called and spoke to Maria she said it would be no problem and they could get me in on Wednesday morning. She was absolutely lovely and she let me know that Austin would be our tech. On Wednesday morning, Austin showed up right on time. He treated the inside and outside of our house and let us know of a few spots we might want to spray foam/fix drywall. He also gave us tips on what we could do to deal with the voracious squirrels in our neighborhood. Austin was great and my entire BugHead experience was golden. I highly recommend them. read more

We just purchased a home and noticed roaches and mosquito on site, so we hired Bug Head to come in and do some simple spraying before we moved in. The technician was very thorough and noted further issues, which he explained and offered further help with. He found that we also have a mice infestation, ~100 sets of moth egg sacks, and 2 varieties of roaches. We had a GREAT experience with Eric and Austin! We called Bughead in March because the warmer weather brought an infestation of carpenter ants (they were pouring out of the wall!). Eric was able to get to the house quickly and fixed the problem just in time for my parents arrival from CA. He explained where they were coming from, what to look out for, how he was treating the issue and also educated us on possible termite tunnels to keep an eye out for. Both him and Austin were very personable! You could tell they love what they do because they were excited over the size of our ants, haha! I would highly recommend this company!!! read more

They sprayed for cockroaches. We found live cockroaches a few weeks after they sprayed so Bug Head had to return to our house. I later received a call from a debt collector about a separate service Bug Head provided at our house. Bug Head had forgotten to leave me an invoice to pay for the service. Instead of doing so, they simply forwarded the issue to a debt collector. When I called Bug Head's office to pay the amount, the operator was as rude as can be. Glad to be done with them. read more

I called BugHead to help with a problem we were having with ants in our kitchen. When their technician, "A" arrived at the scheduled time, he was polite, professional, and curious. After accessing the problem, he went to work on getting rid of the ants. After he was done, I asked how long would it take to see any results. His answer was one to two days. In fact, after one or two HOURS, the number of ants was almost zero! By the next day, we had no ants on the house. BugHead did a fantastic job! I am someone else who got free DIY advice. This was for removal of wasp nests. I generally don't care if there are nests in the rafters, but (1) my grandson visits often; (2) there was a nest inside my BBQ grill and I had a hankerin' for a good steak! I certainly didn't want insecticides used!! ~~ There were two types of service for my wasp problem: (1) a one-time wasp-extermination service - $115 -30-day warranty on service (2) quarterly service - $85/quarter ($20/quarter less than I am paying now; and my guy has yet to respond to my wasp call made a week ago and called again 3 days ago!) - 1-year contract required for this price - 3-month warranty on service - inside and outside ~~ He suggested I try it myself if I wanted to. He said this is how he tells his guys to do it. (1) Poke at nest with the straw end of a broom, standing as far away as possible. (2) Any wasps in the nest would attack the nearest thing, which was the straw end of the broom, not me. (3) While this frenzy was going on, I should drop the broom and semi-slowly make an escape back inside. I should do nothing to attract attention to myself, such as wave my arms or make quick movements by running away. He said I should wear long sleeves, jeans, and gloves to limit accessibility to my skin. (4) If there were no wasps, it was likely it was just food storage and it would be safe for me to knock down the thing and sweep it away. He also noted that wasps eat aphids, so if I noticed a lot of wasps it was likely that I had a lot of aphids and other things in the yard and around my house. (I haven't noticed a lot of wasps; just these things I assumed were nests.) I'm not sure I'm going to try it myself. Is $115 a good exchange for no stings and no clean up? It probably is, and I'll probably call him back. If so, I'll update here. The gentleman who answered my call (owner?) was very generous with his knowledge, and I appreciate it. He won my trust. And probably my permanent business if my current guy doesn't step up to the plate pretty darned quickly! Update: I did call them back. Vinny was my tech, and he showed up the next day. Turned out I had mud daubers. He said the gray nests were "used nests" and therefore empty. First he removed the nest from my BBQ grill. He inspected my house and knocked down everything else, including an active hornets' nest. (I had put colored tape on walls and other areas where I had found nests, but Vinny found even more than I had!) He explained that there is one mud dauber per nest. There are two chambers: one for the larva and one with a cache of food (usually spiders) for the larva to eat upon hatching. Then comes pupation, followed by the adult. Mud daubers are solitary insects, so I am unlikely to see a "swarm." Ok, but....I'm not going to chance it! A month later, I discovered a new nest, hiding behind a flower pot. It was brown and looked moist, so I figured it was an active nest. I called again to use my warranty, and I had assistance the next day! (I'm sorry I don't remember the gentleman's name, but he was equally polite.) My nest was, indeed, active. He cut open the nest so I could see. Fascinating! He also checked around the house again, found nothing, but sprayed the backyard, just for insurance. (It takes 60 min before my dogs could go out.) Depending on what happens with my next service from my current pest guy, I may be calling BugHead to get on their regular service. I recommend them, based on my two experiences with the company. I just have to say that from beginning to end Maria and Austin at Bug Head made me feel very comfortable about the new home I was moving into that had a roach infestation.
