Trying this place out for the first time. Great barbecue spot. Excellent customer service. Great vibe as well. A must try

I was born and raised in Kansas City. I have 50+ years eating the best bbq in the world. Buford's BBQ is without a doubt the best in the Bay Area of those I've tried, which are many. No one in CA, in my opinion, has mastered both meat smoking AND sauce except Buford. In fact no one has mastered sauce at all, except Buford. As he had sold out of brisket by the time we arrived, which was almost at closing, he graciously subbed delicious catfish in our 3 meat meal. I thought the portion offering by price was exceptional compared to other restaurants in our area. We split our 3 meat combo, and we're known to put away a lot of bbq. Buford's is an easy 20 min drive from central Concord. We made a few stops on the way home and our food was still piping hot when we arrived. We'll really only go there in the future when we get the bbq craving.

My hubby and I decided to try this bbq restaurant for the first time, because I wanted to celebrate Black History Month with some soul food. We weren't aware that this little restaurant has been in business for over a year! We found this cozy little restaurant in downtown Antioch. It wasn't fancy but had a mom & pop vibe going on. We wanted to sample the barbecue so we ordered a combination of pork ribs, beef brisket, hot links, and chicken. For sides, we ordered green beans, baked beans, potato salad, and macaroni and cheese, Some Hawaiian rolls came with our meals. For dessert, I ordered a warm peach cobbler with a little vanilla ice cream on top. (YUMMY!!!!) My husband and I were both pleased with our meals! Everything tasted delicious! I loved the smoked flavor of the meats and the delicious bbq sauce! All of the meats were tender also. Nothing was dry like other reviews mentioned. All of the sides were delicious also! The service was excellent! The wait wasn't long! The restaurant was clean. And the 70's classic soul music was on point! It was a nice soulful bbq experience enjoyed by several diverse patrons. And I loved that the restaurant wasn't freezing cold inside! I HATE eating hot food inside of a freezing restaurant! That's not a comfortable experience. Whereas at Buford's, my hubby & I didn't rush to leave because it was a great experience. We will be back to try the fried catfish, hush puppies, and fried okra in the near future!

My first time going here I found it on yelp the establishment had 4.5 stars the customer service was great I believe it was the owner who helped me and older gentleman. I got the one meat plate with one side I got ribs Mac n cheese and it came with an Hawaiian roll the ribs were so tender and falling off the bone they were seasoned very well not too salty. The mac was mackn it was so good I love Mac n cheese this was really good and it wasn't dry I also got some peach cobbler and that was sooo good as well fresh out the oven overall everything was great. I had the option to dine in or take it to go I took it to go because I was on my lunch break. But they had bar tables and chairs and dine in tables and chairs yall should check them out

Just go, that's it. I can't wait to come back. The brisket was soooooo good. Everything was. Oh and don't forget about the baked beans either. Would love to see some corn bread on the menu. We ordered the 3 meat combo plate with ribs, brisket, hot links, Mac and green beans with a side of oh so good baked beans. I served 2 very full plates at home for 2 adults and we were stuffed, even had a bit of leftovers. They did mention they will be trying to open until 6 pm which would be great. They close at 5pm right now. The inside is very nice with ample seating.

Do not sleep on Buford's BBQ!! This place is amazing ran by a sweet couple just the two of them. Our BBQ was amazing just like I would in the south. Love it so much and the peach cobbler is to die for. Reminds me of the rural Georgia recipe I lost years ago. The brisket is on point and the ribs fall off the bone in the good way. We came in Sunday afternoon and they were swamped people coming and going our order got missed in the chaos. The owner came over and apologized and gave us the cobbler for free. The store is small and quaint but also super clean small home town feel in old downtown Antioch.

My husband and I came here for lunch. I ordered the fried catfish and fried chicken wings with a side of fries and my husband ordered the beef brisket. The brisket was flavorful and tender. I also enjoyed the catfish but the fried chicken for me lacked flavor. I put some hot sauce on it but I would have liked it more if it was more seasoned. Other than that, the staff were very friendly. It was a cute mom and pop shop.

If you're looking for BBQ in the East Bay, then look no further. This is a very good option fill your stomach with some good southern cooking. They serve REAL sweet tea here. I ordered pork ribs, brisket, beef sausage, macaroni and cheese , fried okra, The baked beans are simple, flavorful and a nice size serving. The sausage link was mild with tiny bits of spice. Brisket was juicy, smoky and tender. Okra was absolutely perfect. It didnt have too much breading like other places. Pork ribs are worth it to come here by themselves. Bring some wet wipes. It's going to get messy. Unfortunately the Mac & Cheese needs some help. There was no roux, no cheese crust on top and I was disappointed. It didnt seem fresh. Service was really good. They had 2 people cleaning tables, 1 person taking orders and 1 person in the kitchen (from what I saw). They have about 6 tables for customers and 2 benches for a waiting area. I didnt see any outside seating. Overall, I'd come back here again and bring 3 friends. Parking: easy 5/5 Value: 4/5 Return value: 5/5 Customer service: 4/5

Excellent BBQ ribs. Came here today to check it out. Food was great. The place inside is quite nice too. The staff were friendly too. Definitely will be coming back. Just be aware of the hours since it's only open a few days during the week.

I can't have BBQ sauce this is why there's no sauce!

Food was soooo good! We had ribs, hot links, and fried chicken. Sides potato salad, fries and spaghetti. The potato salad was gone in 29secs! Service was awesome very friendly. Definitely coming back.

This place is top notch! Husband and I picked up food for the whole family and we were surprised to see that this restaurant is right next to Rick's on Second which is a super popular sandwich shop, so if you order Buford's BBQ via DoorDash or some other delivery service, then I think there's synergy there that will get the food to you pretty quickly! That's a huge win since location is everything when it comes to ordering delivery. But you can't go wrong with deciding to get the takeout yourself since there's the beautiful delta waterway just one street up. Eating in the restaurant is a great option too since the decor is super cute, clean, open, modern and it's a really relaxing, comfortable vibe. We love the vines and the various little touches. Even the hallway and the bathroom are nicely done! We ordered a ton of stuff - brisket, brisket burger, ribs, mac and cheese, green beans, pasta salad, pecan pie, banana pudding, and apple pie. Everyone loves the food and we all had a different favorite. My stepdad was a bigger fan of the brisket, my brother loved the ribs, and I was blown away by the mac and cheese. I'm used to mac and cheese having kind of a Velveeta cheese sauce, but this has real pieces of cheddar and it's probably the best mac and cheese I've ever had! Every bite had cheese, macaroni, crunch, so the flavor and textural variety were both completely spot on. I also planned to share the mini pecan pie but it was so good that I ended up eating it all by myself lol oh well too bad for my family, guess they'll have to go back and get their own! The service was also great, super quick and friendly. Definitely the family ambiance you're looking for when you go out for BBQ, and you definitely can't get that wholesome welcoming attitude when you go to some chain - e.g. Dicky's (since you'll pretty much only encounter teenagers who hate their jobs at a chain). We loved it and will definitely be back - huge kudos and thanks for the delicious meal and for making our Saturday afternoon a good one!

My thing last time was just hating how everything, & I mean everything, was drenched in sauce. Swimming. So this time, requested for the sauce to be on the side. I got a combo plate: Chicken, Tri-tip, green beans, greens, and the medium sauce on the side. Chicken: A bit dry, but it was okay - just lacks flavor without the sauce. Tri-tip: Dry, chewy, bouncy, and lacks flavor, similarly to the chicken. Greens & green beans: They were decent! I actually really like the green beans a lot & ate it fairly quick! The flavor was there. The veggies (all of them) were cooked at the right consistency, not too soft, not too firm! The bread that it comes with: 2 slices of (what seems to be) wheat bread, a fork, and napkins, in a ziplock bag... The sauce: the sauce is good! It's got a decent kick to it! And the flavor is also alright. Service: service was good and straight forward. I also received the food quickly. Portions: I received a full plate, and I couldn't ask for more! It was packed in there! Overall, despite the positives, the negatives outweigh it. The main thing I came for was the meat, and was highly disappointed by it. If I need sauce to make it better (which didn't make it much better, considering how dry the meat itself was), then the BBQ isn't good. Thankfully the sides were great & portions were big, and service was also a plus, the main reason I decided to order was a flop. The quality of the meat or how it is cooked was disappointing.

I came here yesterday during opening and there was already a long line of people waiting for their orders. I think they can hire a few more people to speed things up in the back kitchen. I ordered their roast pork belly with rice which was really good. Expect that traditional 5-spice flavor that's mainly used in Chinese roast pork. They give a generous amount too which is nice. I also enjoyed the ginger sauce it came with. I thought this paired better than the black sweet sauce they provide. Typically I like my pork belly thoroughly cooked but this is a different style and I still enjoyed it. It's worth $15! I want to come back to try their duck next!

Reasonably price. Honestly, the pork belly is the star and could be the best I've had in a long time considering I still live and grew up in Oakland. At other chinese bbq spots the skin to me is usually very crunchy and chewy. But Roast Eatery pork belly skin is so light and crispy, that after a few bites the tender meat and fat slowly melts in your mouth making it very enjoyable. The sweet sauce with the pork belly is new to me. it's interesting but i prefer eating it with the ginger scallion because it helps cut the richness from the pork belly. The Haianese Chicken is exceptional. Cooked perfectly to tendernism. Anyone new to chinese bbq and wondering why the chopped chicken bone is still red or pink, that's called myoglobin so don't worry it's already cooked and means that it's perfectly gently poached. Of course, always take caution, ask questions and do a little research. If you're afraid, just eat around it, but this will probably be the best and healthiest way to eat chicken if you're on a diet. Roast Duck was flavorful, tender and nicely roasted. Definitely your go to local spot if you're in the East County (Oakley, Brentwood, or Antioch). It's also on par with local favorite spots in Oakland Chinatown like Gold Medal. Service is very straight forward and quick to order. The staff are friendly. Got our order in less than 10 minutes. Overall, I will be coming here more frequently for my chinese bbq fix and quick healthy lunch. They also own the dim sum bakery next door and it's definitely a hit too!

But I'm a firm believer in second chances so when we realized this was in a different location near an event we attended, we were excited to try it again. And I'm so glad we did. Service was 10/10. I saw a lot of previous reviews mentioning the same experience we originally had. If this was you but you liked the food, please give them another shot. We ordered a little closer to closing than I normally would (about an hour, nothing crazy.) The young lady that helped me was incredibly kind and double checked our order against the receipt. We don't live super close so this was very much appreciated. We ordered the 3s a Crowd, sticky wings, fries, corn bread, mac & cheese and potatoe salad. With the exception of the chicken tender that came in the 3s a Crowd, all of the meat was excellent. The brisket was perfectly smoked & sauced and the ribs literally fell off the bone. The chicken leg was crispy, juicy and had amazing flavor. Sadly, the chicken tender was really dry, almost tough to bite through. But in the grand scheme of meat - we weren't there for the tenders so not a deal breaker for us. Fries were packaged in a wax bag so they were pretty soggy, but I acknowledge that we had about a 10 minute drive before eating. They still tasted pretty good as far as fries go. Corn beard was about as unremarkable as corn bread can be without being notably bad. It wasn't bad - it certainly wasn't good... It was, much like the mac & cheese, without any flavor or appealing consistency at all. It was crumbly, not sweet or savory - and left no more than a hint of corn bread after taste. The mac & cheese was wildly overcooked & lacked any flavor at all. It didn't taste "bad," it literally tasted like nothing at all and was comically mushy. This wasn't something seasoning could fix. The potatoe salad on the other hand was great; very flavorful, amazing consistency, I loved this. If you can't have a bbq without mac & cheese or corn bread, this might not be the spot for you. But we will absolutely be back for ribs, chicken, brisket and to try the other sides. Overall we really enjoyed trying this again and will definitely be back.
