I really love going here.. or been quite some time since I've been so today I was. I would have given a 5 star buuut.... The bar room was offered and based on our experience of a live band or good music we chose of our area. Unfortunately, the service ( if there was any) was non existent . We sat there for more than 10 minutes. No one asked us a question. Came to check on us or anything. They watched us. Do you have a food return to the dining room with menus and hand and no one attempted to see what was going on There were only two other couples sitting in the room. It was almost empty. We wound up moving back to the dining area because we plan to have tea and coffee. Once we or seated in the main dining area, the service was stellar. They checked on its regularly. We got water immediately. They took our order within 3 to 5 minutes that continue to check on us throughout the meal refilled our beverages. It is regularly crowded there the beautiful world that room is covered by direct sunlight from the windows that show you the waterfront there's plenty of seating, the music is loud enough to enjoy but low enough to have conversation and enjoy your meal simply perfect I got my favorite the crab sand, which is at market price and delicious. My husband had a jumbo shrimp scrambled that comes with bacon and avocado, and it was delicious. I adore this restaurant and I really enjoy the fact that they've started covering the outdoor patio area so you don't have direct Son. It's a perfect place to enjoy a good Saturday or Sunday brunch with friends and family. It's always have fun. How am full of live with people enjoying their meal Except to spam $50-$75 a person depending on what you choose to eat from the menu and what type of beverage you have and that only includes one beverage Your average brunch scramble or omelette runs about 30 bucks. Respectfully, this was one of the worst decisions and will never return again. The area was amazing and the food looked good, but other than that everything else was the worst. The coffee was cold, the service was slow, and the food was lukewarm at best. They took over 10 minutes to even get us started on drinks, then it took 30 minutes to get the food. Once I got my plate, nothing was close to warm, and tasted oily because everything was cold. They took the plate back and offered to remake it, but after how long it took, I passed. I was really excited to try this place. I've been seeing it all over my social media and I love to show support to local businesses. My family and I decided to have Mother's Day brunch here and unfortunately I don't think we'll be back. We expected there to be a decent wait time, being that it was a Sunday and Mother's Day. We waited 3 hours to be seated and another hour for our food. We were placed at the back of the restaurant and were even serviced after people who were seated after us. Our server only checked on us to take our order, bring us our food, and bring us our check when prompted. We asked for napkins and to go boxes that never came that we had to get ourselves. My husband couldn't eat his food that was packaged to go because of how long it took to receive it. We also received our appetizer after our main meal. When the bill came there was an automatic gratuity added, which truly wasn't a problem. I totally understand restaurant procedure of large parties, but for the lack of service we received..... I could forgo everything if the customer service was there and it wasn't. I love to support and highlight individuals for their amazing service, hard work, and dedication. This is one of the only nicer restaurants in town and I often will bring my friends here for brunch or bar activities. Again, for Antioch/Pittsburg, there's not too many options so we do come here whenever we want to drink. I like their outside seating and bar areas. The reason for the lower stars is actually due to 2 reasons. First is the cleanliness. In their main eating area, the walls are disgustingly covered with scuffs, dirty food stains, and God knows what else. When we were sat down in a booth this morning, March 22nd, it smelled so bad we asked to be moved outside. Additionally, the inside of their windows were covered with handprints and other marks. At 11am on a Sunday. When I went to the bathroom the toilet in the first stall was not even properly straight, 2 out of 3 bathroom stall locks didn't operate properly, and the only bathroom that had a working lock had a disgusting toilet. One out of 2 faucets worked and the trash was overflowing. I don't know why their restaurant is so dirty. It wasn't like this when we visited a few months ago but this is gross and absolutely not ok for a restaurant. The second reason is due to their smaller portions. I last visited here in the fall of 2025 and then again today. I can confidently say their portions have gotten smaller but prices are still very high. I understand that costs have increased, but my meal was eggs, potatoes, and toast. It's not like I was ordering their steak. A breakfast plate shouldn't cost me $30. Since I got a drink too, my total was $50+ for a breakfast food plate and a drink. I want to support local businesses, that's why I always eat here when we go for breakfast. Dine in experience for my bday brunch let's get into it ! Me and mines have been wanting to try this place for a while and based off of reviews, we knew to make a reservation which we did , or try to do lol. We called them and they said they were not taking reservations. You had to come in since they are very busy. We got there and put our name on the list. They said 30 minutes so we went back to our car to wait. It was about 45 to 50 minutes when we decided to call them and ask where our place was in line they said there was one person ahead of us and then sure enough we got the text saying it was time for us to be seated . as we got inside I noticed a few other people complaining about the same thing so I would say lack of attentiveness when it comes to seating the guests even though it is very busy I will not take that away from them. So we finally got seated. I got my bloody Mary first. It looked different but tasted great. We all ordered our food together . two plates came out before mines. I thought people were supposed to eat together not separate so I had to wait for my food to come. Also, they came out with one plate wrong they instantly were able to fix it, which lets me know they have bacon or sausage sitting under a heater because they came out so fast with the bacon that was supposed to be on the plate instead of the sausage . eventually, I get my plate . now I will say the food is good. My crab Benny was full of crab meat didn't taste fishy. They accommodated the sides that I asked for with no problems. My man got the surf and turf Benny, which was very good. I definitely want to try that again. The sauce on there is amazing. His son got the breakfast combo with two fried eggs, a waffle and bacon with strawberries on top but when it came out there were no strawberries and sausage patties instead , they kindly fixed it. Overall, I would try them again. My waitress was nice. The vibes inside were cool. I've heard they have live music sometimes but today they didn't . They also gave me a complimentary birthday shot on the house ( candy shot , taste like watermelon warheads if you know you know ) overall expect a wait for your table and don't be afraid to check in with them since it is so busy, but I definitely would give them a try. Love going to Monica's for brunch! Their breakfast is so delicious, last time I had their French toast and it was so good. Another time I had their breakfast sampler and it was equally as tasty. The drinks are nice and the atmosphere is pretty laid back even when it's busy. They have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and a beautiful view of the delta. It can be a bit pricy with dishes around $20-$30 so definitely more of a date or a small group spot but still worth it for an occasional treat! I highly recommend! read more

Food As a vegan, my options were limited. I ordered The Vegan, which is made with mushroom, red bell pepper, yellow squash, onion, and fresh spinach, atop diced red potatoes. I ordered a side of dry sourdough toast. The food was good, though I would have preferred the potatoes on the side so as to maintain the crispy texture. I loved that the potatoes had the skin, which boosts the nutrient density. This place may become a regular. I will return and ask for the potatoes to be on the side, or maybe I will try their avocado toast, which is the only other vegan option on the menu. Service I arrived minutes after Monica's had just opened. From the moment I entered, the service was impeccable. I was greeted immediately at the door and seated within seconds. Following that, Julio, the waiter, came by and offered a warm welcome. He gave me a few minutes to make my selection. After that, he returned promptly, ice water in hand, and took my order. This restaurant is, indeed, located by a riverside and has both indoor and outdoor covered dining. Even though we found our location what seemed to be near capacity, we were directed toward our table without delay. The customer service and the presentation of our meals earned 4 of 5 stars. The Bacon and Blue burger was good as well was the Rancher sandwich. However, the prices for our choices only seemed to match our food's presentations. The highlight and overall recommendation of our lunch had to have been the Garlic Fries. Monica's Riverview offers two side of a coin so to speak whereas we only partook one side during our visit. Ms assistant manager with red hair had to be related to Monica there is no way she got the position from performance. She was horrible ! Everyone at the bar was rude ! One good thing out of this experience was a beautiful soul named Oak she was the best waiter I have ever had ! We've been to Monica's several times and have, historically, had decent service and enjoyed our meals. Today, however, I was disheartened to see the service at a level of ... incompetence. We showed up today, on a Sunday, without a reservation, and anticipated having to wait for a table. We stood in a short line to add our name to the waitlist. The party before us, a party of three, was given an estimated wait time of 25-30 minutes. Our turn was next (party of 2), and the hostess gave us an estimated wait time of 30-45 minutes. We were willing to wait, and stood in the main entryway for our table to be ready. The party after us, a family of four, was told one hour. The party after them, a younger couple with a child, was told an hour and a half. Of the four parties that were helped in a matter of 2-3 minutes, each was given wait times of drastic variance. Over the next 25 minutes, we were the only two to be waiting for a table. Several other parties walked in and were told a wait time of an hour and a half. None of them wanted to wait that long and left. We also stared at the employees walk past this napkin for those same 25 minutes.. The hostess walked off and another employee came to man the podium up front. At about our 25-minute mark, a server approached the podium as asked why we were standing in the front area, and the now-host told her that he did not know why we were waiting. (Mind you, there were plenty of available tables to be seated at while they stared at us, but we did not know whether or not they were reserved) The server approached us and we told her that we were waiting for a table. The server then walked the restaurant floor, looked at the table availability, and went back to the host and asked him in Spanish, "What about the tables on the side? A all the tables in the middle?" The host shrugged his shoulders, as if he had no idea what was going on. The server the then told the host, in Spanish, "They're the only two waiting," and grabbed two menus and asked us kindly to follow her to a table. We sat down and were promptly served. I ordered a burger and my wife ordered some eggs Benedict with whole/country potatoes as a side. After having been seated, our server took some serious initiative for the next several families that arrived and seated them promptly, too. Before we knew it, the whole restaurant was filled up! When the food came out, her meal came with hash browns. Funny enough, the last time she ordered country potatoes, they brought her hash browns, too. To this day... we still don't know how good these things must be. Or maybe they just don't exist? We may never know. Food quality was good! It was prepared promptly and, otherwise, correctly. While we were eating, the original hostess approached our table and asked for my name, presumably to remove me from the wait list. I know that she had originally took my name down correctly because I got a text message with my name on it.... but after a few moments of scrolling on her iPad, she found the name closest to mine and took that name off of the list... so, Kevin, if you're reading this... now you know why! I have been here multiple times now, becoming a go-to when seeing mother in law in Antioch. It's on the water and a really cute atmosphere. First time we went on a weekday. We got a server in training and he gave it his all and did his best to give good service despite it being his first or second shift. I got the steak sandwich (so delicious) and Mom enjoyed her French toast. Second time we included the husband and went on a weekend. It was definitely busier but they sat us on the back patio which was nice. Pretty good canopy and umbrella coverage from the sun. They were actively setting up the weekend outdoor taco station, gotta try that next time. There was a musician playing in the bar and they opened up the folding doors so we could hear it outside. I got the mozzarella and pesto burgers (I think it's the godfather) and it was exactly what I was in the mood for. Having restaurant staff yelling "Shot shot shot" at 10:30am for a customer's birthday while you're trying to have a nice family breakfast is not the greatest. There always also seems to be people stumbling out after drinking way too much. Our last time there, a very drunk man was stumbling forwards my youngest daughter and scared her. I have eaten at Monica's three times, and I had good service each time. There is usually a wait, especially on the weekends, so be prepared for that. The food is generally tasty, with items that are not exactly typical; example, the "Big Ass Waffle" and Lemon Ricotta Pancakes. Lots of breakfast items, including steak & eggs. They offer burgers, salmon, crab, etc. The chile relleno is delicious, accepting to my wife. We did think that the ice tea was a little odd in flavor. Not sure why. In addition to drip coffee, they have espresso available, which I appreciate. The prices aren't super cheap, but the food is good and the portions are generous. read more

When I say the food was like Night and day, that's an understatement. The presentation was trash and the Steak was tough, fatty and overcooked. The pico was watery it was overall a waste of $32.95 plus tax. My friend ordered a Benedict, instead of a poached egg the eggs were hard boiled. The yolks were solid and tough as heck. She complained about her order and they comped it but I kept quiet but in utterly disgust with the food I received. Since we were celebrating her 50th Birthday, I didn't want to cause a problem. Went for breakfast. My steak was ordered medium rare and it came medium well. I don't know how you make bacon taste stale but they found a way. The view from the booth is beautiful but the bathroom lights didn't work. The service is great and everybody is really nice. My friends and I went to Monica's in Antioch after a hike. This wasn't our first visit, we usually love the ambience, and the food and service are typically very good. Unfortunately, this visit fell short. Our server took our order and delivered the food... and that was it. There were no check-ins, no asking if we needed refills, condiments, or anything else. We never saw him again. I always tip and truly believe in tipping for good service. However, service should be more than simply taking an order and dropping off food. A $66 tip for minimal interaction and no follow-up felt excessive and disappointing, especially compared to the level of service we've experienced here before. I came here as a kind of "meet in the middle" location to have an early lunch with a friend who was coming from the Bay area. We discussed some of the options in the area but I saw that a few of my Yelp elite friends had reviewed this place and stated that the food was really good. You are right on the water and there is plenty of parking. Please keep in mind that I visited on a weekday, but I have read that it gets really crazy here on the evenings and weekends.. Also, the restaurant itself is really cute so I was optimistic. When we entered we realized the bar was closed and requested a seat in the restaurant and while we waited we saw signs apologizing that the entire bakery was gone for Mother's Day, but again, this was the middle of the week. The service was fine and I thought the prices were a little high for what I was ordering but because I had heard that the food was so good I was not at all worried about it. I figured it would definitely be worth it. My friend and I enjoyed our conversation but we were really disappointed with both of our meals. The food was lacking both in taste and presentation. We ended up going somewhere else for a drink afterwards and ordering some food at the bar. Overall, our experience was fine. Nothing terrible, just meh. I don't know if their chef was gone along with the bakery staff, and perhaps if the bar was open and we came at a different time, we might have had a different experience. The location is great and so is the establishment. However, the food is lacking. It's not a restaurant I would visit for the tasty food. My friends and I visited early on a Saturday. It was busy but we were able to get seated in 20 minutes. I got the chilaquiles which were pretty good, not soggy. My two friends got a chicken panini and chicken & waffles. The panini was super basic and the chicken breast was a little dry. The chicken and waffles were more like Tyson chicken strips with waffles. A total disappointment. Like I said go here for the ambiance and drinks. Also, parking gets a little hectic but if you are coming from a little ways away try taking the train! It's 4pm on a Wednesday. I'm starting to write this review as we sit waiting for our happy hour starters- onion rings and chips and salsa. It's been about 25-30 minutes since we placed the order. It is not busy, about 4 occupied tables. How on earth does it take more than 20 minutes to get chips and salsa or onion rings. I'm going to pause here and finish when things arrive. The food has arrived. All of it, at once. Starters and mains. Which was weird but whatever. Onion rings: Hot, crispy, overall good. Chips and salsa: the salsa is spicy and robust, the chips are thick and crunchy. I don't know if they make the chips in house but they looked burnt. Chicken salad sandwich: good ratio of chicken salad to bread (sourdough) and the soup of the day (broccoli cheddar was good). But, is it worth $20? It's literally like two ladles of soup and some chicken on bread. Fish and chips: Came out hot, fries are average, the fish was well breaded not too much or too little, but could have been a bit crunchier. Overall it's a fine option, but $32 for what was honestly a very basic fish and chips seems off. I have always been more than happy to pay more for higher quality eating and or service. Monica's seems like it wants to be a nice restaurant with quality food, but falls short. If you are trapped in downtown Antioch and have money to spend, it's a fine option.
