Was working in the area and wanted to grab something to eat for myself. Was browsing around local places and this one popped up for me. Was within walking distance and had online ordering, so I had to give it a try. Veggie Benedict: Almost the same as a Florentine Benedict, but no spinach. Still, it was delicious. Despite its rough looking presentation when I received it (granted everything was just shifted to one side of my container when I was eating it), I enjoyed the meal. The eggs were poached perfectly and the Hollandaise sauce was great. The hash browns could have been crispier, but still, I enjoyed my meal. We're looking for a Diner near our house on Oakley and came across Lumpy's Diner on Yelp. It's just a short drive from our house and very convenient It's what I expected from a Diner and they serve good breakfast and sandwiches for lunch. They have several variety of food on their menu. The place is neat and I like the ambiance of the place. The diner has several framed pictures posted all over its walls and reflects a nice comfortable atmosphere while dining. For breakfast, I ordered the Pancake BREAKFAST which has two buttermilk fluffy pancakes served with one egg, any style, and your choice of bacon, sausage, ham, hot link, or linguica. Update 3/2/25 Another visit to Lumpy's for our Hawaiian breakfast fix of Loco Moco. Again, an excellent breakfast choice. The hamburger patty is NOT over cooked and dry, but really tender and tasty. The spam fried rice is the perfect foundation for Lumpy's iteration of Hawaiian Loco Moco. The green onion palm tree is really cool and cute representation of an "island" of delicious food! A rating of 5/5! Loco Moco is not on Lumpy's main menu. It's only prepared on selected days. You can call to see what days Lumpy's will put their loco moco on their menu. WOW, just had dinner at Lumpy's Diner. I found out that this was the second day of their new Thursday and Friday dinners. Tonight, I had an amazing New York Steak, seasoned to perfection, with mash potatoes with gravy and string beans. Totally fantastic!! Went to have breakfast and ordered bacon and eggs, which came with hashbrowns and toast. Everything except the toast had this taste of rancid grease. I have done a lot of cooking in my days, and there's nothing worse than dumping in a big batch of potatoes that you have cut up to fry into a skillet with bacon grease, only to find out, after they were already cooked, that the bacon grease was rancid, and you've wasted all of those potatoes and all the work that went into peeling and cutting them up. That's what the food tasted like. The hashbrowns were all separated and were served like little brown potato sticks that were even hard to pick up with a fork. The service was excellent. My server's name was Holly. She has served me before, and is not only very efficient but very friendly. I will most likely keep going back because I've been here several times and most of the time. Came in on a really busy Saturday morning and service was so quick. From the young guy at the front to the waitresses everyone was friendly. We sat at the counter and had a really good breakfast. I came in with my mom on a Friday after the lunch rush (around 1:30 pm). I'd been curious about Lumpy's for years after growing up near Digger's on Willow Pass in Concord. From what I understand from the internet, Lumpy was the son of the Digger's crew, and was on his way to tearing up the second-generation diner scene when he sadly lost his life at the age of 35 from a cardiac health issue. My sincere condolences to his community, it was nice to see his portrait living on in this location. Our waitress/server was incredibly kind & friendly, and was on top of everything - hot sauce, solid menu recommendations, refills. Major love for her. Both of us ordered the Taco Salad ($13) and found it to be pretty okay. The fried shell was the draw, of course, and was even scored so it was easier to tear off pieces of fried dough chunks. Yes, this was my cheat day. The Taco Salad is the fried shell layered with chili, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, sour cream, guac, salsa - all the Taco Night fixings of suburban youth. If nothing else, the chili that needs some heat! The pickled jalepeños were a great add, but maybe some cayenne & garlic in the main stew. Pretty disappointed by Lumpy's. We order Lumpy's breakfast to go every once in a while as a treat. Usually, the portions are pretty good and the food is tasty. This time, we were kinda shocked to open the box and see that it appeared half our breakfast was missing and also cold. This is literally half the portion we usually receive. And it tasted...off. Like it was old or had been sitting out. The pancakes were cold and rubbery on the edges as if they had been refrigerated then microwaved for a few seconds.
