    Hot Pastrami Sandwich on sourdough!
    Mike R.

If you're anywhere near Pittsburg, California, do yourself a favor and stop by Nick's Sandwiches. I had the hot pastrami on sourdough, and it was hands down one of the best sandwiches I've had in a long time. The pastrami was perfectly seasoned, juicy, and stacked generously. Paired with the warm, slightly crispy sourdough bread--it was pure comfort food heaven. The service was friendly and quick, and the shop had that classic local spot feel. You can tell they take pride in what they serve. Whether you're a sandwich lover or just hungry and in the area, Nick's should be at the top of your list. Highly recommend. I'll definitely be coming back!

This was my first time coming to Nick's and the service was great. We went with a recommendation and got the hot pastrami with Dutch crunch bread. The sandwich was good, but it didn't blow my mind. I think their stink sauce could've been stronger on flavor, I didn't taste it too much on the sandwich. Overall, I would come back and try some of their other sandwiches. It's a great place if you're looking for something fast. Our order was ready in less than 5 minutes.

Came here to say for lunch during a work trip. Solid little deli. Service was quick. The place was small, with not a lot of seating, but it seems more like a grab and go kind of spot. Everyone in my group enjoyed their food. I ended up with the breakfast sandwich. The Stinky Sauce was delicious. I'd definitely get that on any sandwich I ordered.

Bagel with cream cheese. They literally put the whole block of cream cheese on my bagel and didn't spread it.

they said it closes at 5 but they always close early. Your best bet is to get there before 4:30. They've done this before.

They forgot my tomatoes are 2 out of 3 sandwiches. Felt like they could have done more when I told them about it.

Every time I visit home I try to stop by Lumpy's to get this bad boy but they're always sold out. So this time around I came prepared. On Friday morning I called right when they opened at 7:00 AM to place a pre-order for 3 Pittsburgers ($25.17). The woman I spoke to on the phone said they're made around 9:45 AM, so I came back around 9:30 to pick them up. They were piping hot when I got them but unfortunately we ate them about 2 hours later because we brought them to an Alcatraz tour. These seem different from the ones I had when I went to PHS. They're definitely bigger and don't remember them being so dense (then again I haven't had one in ages). It's basically a Sloppy Joe with ground beef, a lot of ketchup, onions, cheese, and bread. Very simple ingredients but a ton of nostalgia. Anyone who went to PHS would say they adored the Pittsburger, so if you're feeling nostalgic on a Friday morning, definitely order one.

I've been here a few times and there has always been parking available. The inside is pretty small but they also have exterior seating, which on a nice day can absolutely be incredible. I had the Philly Cheesesteak which was flavored well. My only complaint was the meat was a little dry. The bread was good but maybe if it was toasted could have elevated it just a bit. The daughter had the shrimp Alfredo. Different story. It was absolutely amazing! They gave 6 fairly descent size shrimp which was cooked well. The pasta was perfectly cooked and the Alfredo sauce was YUMMY! I will definitely go back and order the Alfredo pasta next time. Overall recommend this place. So, it's a pleasure to recommend a good fish restaurant with a good view of the water. Our visits to Smith's Landing have always been a pleasure. The food is a tad pricey but always excellent, with a decently sized and varied menu. The building itself is large, comfortable, clean, and appealing. The atmosphere is generally quiet (for a restaurant of its size) and relaxing. And the view from any of the inside window tables or the outside tables is downright spectacular. You can see clearly the harbor and the river, offering an appropriate setting for the excellence of the food. In all, I'd give the place an A-, subtracting only for the slightly above-average price of the food, which is made up for in both quality and quantity. You won't go away dissatisfied or hungry. Currently, it's the best restaurant on the river.
