I've been searching for a good BBQ spot in my area for sometime now. I decided to take note from a few content creators and decided to shoot my shot! Needless to say, Dad's hit the levels of ALL AROUND DELICIOUS~NESS ! From the moment I walked through the door.... INSTANT AEROMATIC BBQ LOVE slapped me ever so delicately as I floated to the counter to order. My side eye caught the HomeMade Banana Pudding, Peach Cobbler and Sweet Potato Pies! My focus was tested yet I managed to regain my thoughts and place our orders. One thing for certain, the meats were all juicy and tender! That MAC SLAPPED and the other sides DID NOT DISAPPOINT! I can't wait to go back and get another dose and try the Potato Salad, Moms Gumbo and the Desserts. They also make thier own Sweet Tea and Kool Aid. Well, I have to come from under the bridge and troll California BBQ restaurants no more. I actually enjoyed this food so much today I have to apologize and say publicly, "There is hope for BBQ in California". I ordered macaroni and cheese, rib tips, cornbread and baked beans. Well let me give you the honest opinion of each item on my plate. Cornbread was moist and warm. It was not dry nor was it overly sweet it had a nice combination of complexity in taste, texture and presentation. If I had to give it a rating, it would be 5 out of 5. Baked Beans for once was sweet and smoky. Most restaurants serve them as a clumpy mess, but these were sweet and smoky with a smooth sauce that it was mixed in. Molasses or brown sugar either one it was really good another 5 out of 5. (I could just eat the cornbread and baked beans by themselves). Macaroni and Cheese for once it was good not great but good. It wasn't overly cheesy nor was it salty and buttery. It was a nice compliment to the meal. Now the rib tips were sauced and smoked. The sauce did not overtake the smoky meat. It is a compliment to the meat. It was soft, tear off the bone type of ribs and I had a side of hot bbq sauce and it was tangy, smoky and hot. Now I did not get the greens, potato salad or any deserts or drinks so those will be a later visit. Overall well done and the customer service was exceptional. Respectful and decent and helpful. Keep up the exceptional valor that you have earned. You don't last 25 years by luck but by giving the customer what they want. Great food and exceptional service. read more

Came to try dad's bbq for the first time. Been passing by here for awhile and my curiosity finally got to me. I've had my share of bbq before and this is a very solid place to get some around town! I had a three way plate that three entrees and two sides. I had chicken, hot links, and tri-tip on mild barbecue sauce with baked beans and mac and cheese! Portions were heavy which was nice. Nothing was short of flavor! I also ordered corn bread and for dessert I had their banana pudding. Corn bread was slightly sweet and a bit on the drier side and the banana pudding was the perfect amount of sweetness and I enjoyed every bite. This company had a Good Truck at the Juneteenth Celebration in Brentwood CA two days ago. I ordered a Single Combo which was to include (one meat and one side) 2 slices of bread and Mild Sauce. Originally, I chose the Tri Tip, with Mac And Cheese. The price shown was $15.00. However, when the lady gave me my total it was $19.68. I asked her what was the additional charge? Was that because I used my Debit Card? She sucked her teeth, and said the Macaroni is $3.00 extra. I asked her why is that it doesn't specify that the sides cost more. Evidently, she didn't like my response, had no comment. So, I asked her to please change the side to String Beans. She did, then gave me the correct total to include taxes $16.58 total. I waited @35 minutes from start to finish. Something prompted me to check my order prior to walking away. I did, and instead of String Beans, they had given me Baked Beans. I took my order over to the pickup window and advised the young man what happened. He told the Older Man and he was told to just give me a side of String Beans at no cost ~ and do not to redo my plate/order. I can appreciate that. However, I also noticed that the Tri Tip was in small strips instead of the slices they used to give previously. It really didn't look very appealing. In addition, mine had more grissle than meat, very little sauce and some of the meat was tough. I was disappointed because the quality of my meal was NOT worth what I paid for it at all. I have purchased orders at the previous store location in Pittsburg CA and Antioch CA and had a nice meal every time. I don't know if it was because they were rushing to prepare the food for this event But, I didn't care for the food or the initial contact with the lady taking the orders. I've eaten here pretty infrequently but whenever I've ordered my food in Antioch or Pittsburg 7 years ago it was always right. I specifically asked the young lady to slice my brisket thick. She said okay. I get my food and its chopped up like dog food. Then when I told the older black lady she immediately said thats how we do it. I countered with my experience in the past. No apology, no nothing. Then when she noticed I was clearly upset she asked if I wanted the food after bickering with me back and forth. That will be the last $100 and $20 cash tip I spend. I don't put much standards on the sides - so the beans and Mac and cheese was decent for what it was, I've had better. Decided to try out the food at the Brentwood food truck event on a Wednesday. We unfortunately did not take pics of all the food we tried. It was consumed rather quickly! What we tried: Macaroni and cheese: 10/10 Collard greens: 8/10 Fried chicken and fries: 10/10 Catfish: 10/10 Peach cobbler: 9/10 We ordered sweet potato pie, but didn't see that we got another peach cobbler till we got home. I hear her say, something like oh, cause. What she wanted to say was. Cause that's kinda skimpy looking. I noticed it was mine. I walked over and said to self. That is skimpy. The cashier noticed and was looking at me like, as if to say. Is there something wrong? I asked her is that a combo? She said yes with a stank face. Another girl came in and got in on the convo. She said yes that's 4 bones with another stank face attitude. So you get 4 ribs on a combo and 2 with reg? She said yes, 4bones with an attitude. I told her I've gotten this a couple of times. Well how many did you get? Never mind. I just won't come back. Now I got an attitude. I got 4 baby back looking ribs with 1 rib tip cut up. Give me my whole rib, don't skimp on my rib tip. You sell them separate and charge $3.00 extra on a combo. You slice 1 tip into 2-3 pieces. That's how you cheat your customers on the regular rib order. Give me my whole rib. I remember when you did. My order wad horrible. Burnt and hard. I will never go there again. Y'all need to fix your attitudes. It's not what you say. It's how you say it. My meat was so tender and juicy. The potato salad was good also. Be careful with the hot Bbq sauce as it has a nice kick. The new location is still nice and very well kept. First time at Dad's BBQ today and overall it was a great experience. The ribs were cooked to perfection--tender, flavorful, and definitely the highlight of the meal. I'm going to pass on the tri-tip next time; it was a little on the dry side for my taste. That said, it wouldn't stop me from coming back. I'll be back Friday to try the fish and chips, which I've heard good things about. The girl at the front was very polite, friendly, and made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. We are new to Brentwood and decided to give Dads a try and I'm so glad I did. The food was delicious. I walked in and everyone was super friendly and helped answer my questions. Got the 3 meet combo because I couldn't decide, so chicken breast, ribs and tri tip. I loved it all but tri tip was my fave by a smidge . I loved the ribletts they give you too. Portions were very generous ! Got the beans and potato salad sides and a corn muffin. Service was pretty fast and price was super good (considering this is all meat)!! I squealed with delight when I opened the box and after I took my first bite. Seriously soooo good! All the meat including the chicken breast were cooked perfectly. Bbq sauce awesome. The potatoes salad was so good perfect seasoning classic recipe. The beans were just a tad sweet for me but still delicious. Corn muffin was moist and great (I added butter and honey at home). Keeping it real folks! Just bought a 3-way...ribs chicken and tritip. Unfortunately all of it was DRY! I thought I'd give it try and I know for sure that I can cook it better. Even with bbq sauce it was still dry. Like old cooked food or food that's been sitting all day still getting heat on them or just cooked way too long. Green beans too salty. Cmon folks...my first time and sorry to say, my last time! I took a few bites of each meat to see if it was just one piece but it was all the pieces of all the three different meats. Sorry but it takes more than one bite to see if one likes it or not. It's not about the money sweetie. It's about how you respond to real reviews from honest people. So one bite full refund and two to three bites then I'm stuck with a full plate of dried bbq. No tenderness at all, sorry to say. What you saw that was left went into the garbage can. So all that uncut tritip, chicken and ribs I saw before closing is supposed to be for the next day? If so, then it's day old food, not freshly cooked. And could be why the food I got was dried up. No worries. Your response says it all. I never asked for a refund. Just hoping a response of come back another time when we have freshly cooked food right off the grill that hasn't been sitting for hours and possibly into the next day drying up all the tenderness. I ordered a smoked turkey from Dad's for Thanksgiving. I said i would pick it up on the Wednesday before the holiday. Man, it took me 2 hours to get to Antioch to get this turkey but boy when I tell you it was worth it after all. That turkey was the star of the show on Thanksgiving. It was moist and not dry at all and smoked taste throughout. I'd definitely get again! Good job, Dad's. I also ordered 3 sweet potato pies that I would not order again. The filling was of decent taste but the crust ruined the whole pie. It was flaking and breaking up bad. I think a different, better brand pie crust would have made the difference. The food here is delicious! However I wish they would charge more OR admit they can't & refuse to offer all dark meat chicken meals. This has always happened to me here. Serious every single time!! Tonight I was tired after a long day of work & Dad's is my family's favorite place. I decided to order. The owner was there & I totally trusted they would finally get it right so I didn't check the food until I got home. WRONG!!! ALL WRONG. I open it up and no dark meat. I drive all the way back . The owner told me "He gave you extra white meat because all of the dark meat is at the bottom. We can take back the extra chicken if you want" So I started digging to the bottom and Eureka!!!! THERE IS ONLY ONE HALF OF A WING THAT IS DARK MEAT! Yay! Really?? lol Then the owner admits to me "We can't break up an entire whole chicken just for a all dark meat order" Then she adds "Are you okay with that?" I told her you aren't offering me any alternatives here so I am forced to be okay & I left. My thing to you (owner of Dad's BBQ) is 1. STOP tricking your customers into believing they can order all dark meat orders. 2. At least provide ONE WHOLE ENTIRE PIECE OF DARK MEAT RATHER THAN 1/2 of a wing. You did offer more chicken yes. However as it was still NOT what I initially ordered. Came out to support local businesses at the Wed Food Truck gathering at Brentwood Community Center on Wed. Saw Dad's was here so we gave it a try. The gentleman at the order window didn't seem too thrill to be there as I also had to ask him to repeat himself over the loud generator noise. Ordered the fried catfish and a combo order.
